Place is very clean and the staff is very friendly. Not crazy about the service itself (pedicure part) I had Kevin do a pedicure on me. I forgot the name of my pedicure but I picked a $67 one. I asked for a gel pedi (white color). First of all the dead cuticles around my toes weren't completely removed. From the chair I could still see dead skin. The pedicure itself was very soft, too soft for my taste. The white color is difficult to work with - I know, but this is such a popular choice there should already be an expectation. I had to ask for a third coat of the white cuz I could still see steaks and the shade of white wasn't opaque enough. Not sure if it's because he's a guy but they should be able to notice that. If I see it, they should see it. I see they have a lot of good reviews so I guess to each their own but I personally wouldn't come back again. I went back to have it fixed and she fixed another nail while she was at it. The following day those 2 nails chipped along with most of others. I have been getting powder dip and gel polish for 15 years and I have never ever experienced a manicure chip so fast. I got the manicure a week before my son's birthday party assuming it would still be intact for the party but it was completely chipped. I called several times asking to speak with the owner. THEY ALSO tried to get me to pay more for a spa treatment to help the nail. How a lotion would disinfect a cut, I'll never know. Sad and will not be returning. I have finally found my nail salon. I've been here almost 6 months now and it has been a long process of finding a place that is good and I'm pretty picky! The very first time I went here they did an excellent job, but the past two times have been terrible. I had dip powder done and my nails cracked within the first week of having them which I have never had happen before that fast with dip powder... the next time I went I got a regular gel manicure which came out terrible. It's the little things and the attention to details that make a difference. At Spa Pointe, that's certainly what they do! I walked out incredibly satisfied and already thinking about my next pedicure. First off, the place is very clean and has a great aesthetic. They gave me water with the beginning of my appointment which was very nice, especially since it's summer! I like the plants everywhere and a vibe that screams organic and fresh. In fact, this is what makes Spa Pointe unique. It's one of the first places I've gone to that puts up front that everything they use is non-toxic, organic, and plant based. If other places do this they haven't said it! And the products Spa Pointe uses are very natural. I really appreciated how the staff told me more about this important part of their services. I came in needing an immediate pedicure and Mihee was friendly and helpful in getting me scheduled. I did the classic pedicure which was excellently done by Lina. Not only did I get the usual parts of a pedicure (nail trimming, exfoliation, color), but the classic also included massage, hot stone, steam, and oils. In fact, Lina noticed my feet were dry and asked if this happened often, and she gave me suggestions on how to take care of my feet and put vitamin E to help the dryness. The steam came with some fresh lemon and hot towels before the massage, and it was all very refreshing and relaxing. Lina was very amiable and we got to talk about food, work, and other topics. I really enjoyed the experience which is different than other places I've been to. Finally, my toes also came out great in color and a top coat. It was all very great and much needed after a couple long weeks at work. They have various colors and they're all non-toxic brands so I can't wait to try other shades when I need my next pedicure. The staff overall at Spa Pointe is friendly, diverse, and pay attention to the customers. As I was finishing my appointment I could hear past customers exclaiming their excitement in already being back. Additionally as a newer business they have a lot to offer, Including a short shoulder rub / massage as part of the grand opening special. This excellent experience is just for the pedicure so far. There's a lot of other unique services at Spa Pointe Including eyelashes, manicure, waxing, more intensive pedicure options, a true spa experience can be made with what they offer. It's hard to spot but this salon is on pointe It was very easy to make an appointment and they were super welcoming and friendly when I came in. I got the non toxic gel pedicure and manicure. The only reason I end up coming back is due to the convenience that you can usually get a same day apt, but I think I've learned my lesson. They will charge you to do anything, I went in to get the gel removed off my nails they put on and was given one price and when I checked out I was given a 10$ additional price because the girl "worked hard on my nails." Went down to Connecticut to visit a friend and she suggested this place to get our pedi & gel mani done here. This place just opened in the area but my friend's been here a few times and says great things about it. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the friendly staff and the place was very clean! Cleaner than most nail salons I've been. Started with pedi and I was recommended the restorative one. Did not disappoint! In addition to a nice pedi, there was steam for your legs, a scrub, and great message! Plus they had massage chairs. Next was my gel manicure. I wanted to try something I found online and they took a lot of effort on getting the colors right! I also tried the new organic gel, which was free of 13 chemicals. My gel came out beautiful! I did have dip powder prior and they gently removed it without damaging my nails by soaking it in acetone and hand filing it out. They did not use the electric filer, which I appreciated because I had past experience where my nails were damaged from over filing. They really took the time and effort. The entire experience was great! Clean place, friendly staff, and beautiful results! The biggest bonus was the masseur! He gave a quick upper back & neck massage while my mani was getting done and it was great! A real professional and knew exactly what pressure points to focus on. I completely recommend this place! This was my first time coming her for nail services. Came here with a friend for a scheduled pedicure. Upon entry, you are asked to sanitize your hands. There is a large selection of nail polish brands and colors to choose from. I had a pedicure that included hot stone massage and exfoliation. My technician was very nice and used all cleaned sterilized instruments. There were several customers getting manicures and pedicures but we were all evenly spaced out. It's disappointing that I was treated so horribly by this establishment. I received a gift card for this establishment. I called and made an appointment, they seemed friendly. I was hopeful this was going to be a wonderful experience. It wasn't! She rushed through my nails. She charged me $70 for my refill and stated my nails are long. However I keep my nails at a modest length because I'm in healthcare and wear gloves daily. B tax perhaps. She didn't completely remove my existing gel polish. She didn't file my nails evenly, there are divots in my nails which I noticed when I arrived home. A piece of my nail less than 24 hours has broken off. She used the rag to clean her apron off, then wiped the table top and then used it to wipe the brush. Then back to my hands. Unsanitary method! Not to mention another tech was heavily coughing and not wearing a mask. When she was through, I paid my invoice. And I gave her a tip, even though she was so horrible. Hoping she would see the error in her ways. She just snatched the money out of my hand and walked away without saying thank you. This establishment should not treat Black women the way this nail tech treat me. We have are of one people. No one is better than the other. I know she wouldn't have liked how she treated me if it was her relative, if it was her daughter, her sister, her niece. I've gotten dip a few places in the greater Hartford area, and this was one of my favorites. They carefully removed my previous dip without damaging my nail, did the full multi-step dip application, and used a clear base coat that not all salons will do. The result was fantastic. Adding an update because I recently went to Spa Pointe once they re-opened after COVID. Service was spectacular as usual, but I wanted to comment on how safe their environment and the experience felt. All staff had PPE with face shields. Plexiglass was installed at every station for pedicures and manicures offering you additional safe guard while being there with the technician. They gave me hand sanitizer right as I walked in and I watched them clean every touch point a customer may have had. It was great to see all the measures they are taking to keep customers and their staff safe! I also am SO grateful to finally have gotten my nails done - I feel like a new woman! read more
