Honestly a 0 out of 5 in terms of my experience today. I have UV gel extensions and called to confirm this morning that they could give me a new set. I arrived and the tech kept trying to convince me get a fill and not a new set, which is what I specifically asked for. After all the clarification previously in our conversation, she would only take my gel set off and for me to contact my "regular nail guy". $36 dollars later, she did a 5 min regular paint job, didn't file or cut my cuticles...the picture speaks for itself. read more

Wendy was fantastic. I was visiting from out of state so a new customer but she took all of my crazy picky requests and was able to squeeze me in for a fill, nail repairs and a pedicure. Very calming atmosphere at the salon and they really cater to the customers needs. All around great place. She is so talented, and can do any design presented to her! She really takes the time to make sure as a customer, I leave happy. As an individual, I struggle with anxiety. This salon is my favorite in CT for nail care. If you get your nails done regularly, you know how tough it is to find someplace truly satisfactory, and I am happy to say that I will be a forever customer at Absolutely Nail & Spa. I called to make an appointment my first time and the woman on the phone was super sweet, asked if I was a new customer, and made sure I knew where they were located (in the corner of the plaza between K-Mart and Salvation Army). The salon is very clean and my nail tech was actually mopping the floor while waiting for me to show up. The space is minimally decorated, but that's neither here nor there. The tech stations are clean and I really appreciate the care that my tech took with my nails. She was careful and very meticulous, and made sure I received exactly what I had in mind. They seem to offer a wide variety of manicure options- acrylic, gel, dipping powder, ombré, glitter, gems, etc! Here's the kicker- when you sit down for a nail treatment, they treat you to a complimentary glass of wine or champagne! SO RELAXING!!! I loved every moment of it. I have been to other nail spas that do shoulder massages while you get your nails done-- they did not do that here but the wine totally made up for it! My tech also massaged my hands at the end of my manicure which was very nice. I did not notice a price list anywhere (in the store nor online) but I paid just under $30 for an acrylic fill and gel polish. Let me preface this review by saying I am EXTREMELY picky about my nails. I usually leave the salon and drive myself crazy analyzing every asymmetrical nail and the bumps and grooves in the gel (super type A of me .. can't help myself ) They got me in right away for a walk-in full set of gel nails and they are PHENOMENAL. There were quite a few people waiting but Cindy did not rush and took special care to compare each nail after every step to make sure my hands looked the same. There is no gap between the color and my cuticle and the shape is perfect. She absolutely killed the coffin shape (punny). A full gel set is $45 but they charged me $5 for the coffin shape (??) but they are so amazing I don't even care. Words of advice: make an appointment because wait times were longer than expected for the people I saw come in. read more

I paid for a $50 gel polish pedicure which then began to peel off of my toes approximately 3-4 hours later after running a few errands (Target, grocery store, etc). I then returned two days later for a manicure appointment (for my engagement photo shoot) and showed the owner that my toe polish I had chipped. I was told this happened because the OPI polish is old and "sometimes that happens". I was then told that she didn't have time to fix it because her schedule was too full. The pedicure was fixed after I insisted because I had photos being taken in a matter of hours and literally had no other options AND asked that she just fix the nails that were peeling off. At one point when she couldn't figure out which color to use to match I had asked if I could go find one she yelled at me, "No! Sit down!" when I tried to stand up. My gel ( I think? Honestly I don't even know if she used what I asked for?) manicure was rushed, and I asked if a nail that I had broken doing a project could be fixed. Once again, I returned home and within a couple of hours said nail cracked and broke again. All in all, I understand a bad day or being overworked and overwhelmed. However, I'd rather sit and wait an hour instead of having subpar work done and having to spend twice the amount to go somewhere else to have it fixed. read more

I was in from out of town and found this place on yelp so it seemed okay. I have never once gone back and complained but the job on my nails was awful. My mom and sister weren't bad, but the girl had no issue with me walking out with my nails looking like this. They did give me a refund for my nails but I will not go back nor will my sister who lives here. Be careful who does them because some are more experienced then others. read more

I absolutely hate finding new nail salons because it's either a great or a horrible experience. This salon was such a relief! I got my toes done and Tina did my nails with dipping powder which came out perfectly. On top of that, I made an appt and they stuck to it! I'm happy to go back and have this be my main nail stop for now. Only downfall was I didn't get any neck massage with my nails and I wish the dipping powder was more of a manicure first. My main issue with places is they hype you up with all of the care but the actual nail job isn't well done. I'll pay to keep my natural nails looking great over anything else. read more

I had a great experience at Absolutely Nail & Spa. I called an hour before I went and made an appointment. When I arrived there were no other customers there and they took me right away. I had a pedicure and it was great. The tech gave a great foot massage and opened up a fresh bottle of white polish to make sure the color was exactly what I wanted. They offered me a drink- wine or a mimosa- although I didn't indulge. Super friendly staff, super clean and easy to get to from my house. I can't wait to go back! read more

As far as I am concerned this "spa" needs to closed along with Kmart.... This has been the worst experience I have ever had at a nail salon. I really wanted to write a review sooner but I could not with my acrylics but 2 weeks later I can easily write one. Guess why? Because all of my acrylics damn near popped off. You know your nails are bad when your co-workers asked if you did your nails yourself (rolls eyes). The owner should have just said that she didn't know what ombre was. An amateur proceeded to attempt to do my full set for an hour and half. When I washed my hands I saw the horror. The owner said she would take off 15% because they were experimenting with a new vegan powder. LIES! Because if I was a white women she would have given it to me for free. Just saying...but she did give me 25% off. The main reason why I came to salon was to get a pedicure. The pedicure was going fine, I guess, until I left this place and went home and saw that my nail polish was coming off. This is enough and I am tired and I never ever want to see or step foot in this place again. Just DON'T DO IT! FIND A REVIEW THAT IS ONE STAR AND I'M SURE THEY WILL DO A BETTER JOB. Got an eyelash extension because I had a groupon.. as soon as I'm checking out they let me know they don't accept them anymore.. it didn't expire or anything . they didn't care and was like "card please" like... I had to call my husband to get his card because I didn't expect this... I was so mad because I was they didn't look like 142 dollar lashes. 50 maybe.. I'm a cosmetologist.. I get compliments daily on how wonderful my lashes look and have recommended several people to come here. I also have started getting my nails done here too. Well, wow. What the reviews say here already are true! One of the best manicures I've had since I moved here to CT 2.5 years ago (I've been pretty frustrated trying to find That Right Place). Pedicure was also nice but nothing outstanding. I tried the "dipping power" (had never done so) and was so impressed with the time and care they took. Salon was also clean and uncluttered. I was a little worried when I pulled up since it is shoved back in a corner between a tired looking Kmart and a Salvation Army store. Will definitely be back!
