The lunch specials are really good here. It comes with a choice of egg flower or hot and sour soup (both are good) as well as a choice of white rice or brown rice. The portions are generous. CHICKEN CASHEW A nice mix of chicken, veggies in a tasty brown sauce TOFU WITH VEGGIES The tofu was braised and plentiful along with other mix veggies in their tasty brown sauce. CURRY CHICKEN This was tasty as well. I wish they added more curry sauce but good. I will be coming back to try their other dishes. My husband and I like sharing the large TsingTao beer and they have all the fun stuff for the kiddos (pink lemonade or mango Snapple tea) - plus they have great hot tea, too. They also present you with an assortment of colored chopsticks (although I prefer wood ones). Hot and delicious apps we all love including (crispy outside, piping hot inside) spring rolls, plus (crispy outside, gooey and savory inside) fried crab wontons and perfect pan-fried pot stickers with delicious pork filling! Their sauces are fabulous as well - traditional sweet and sour sauce with hot mustard and soy/hot sauce blend with green onion. Best vegetarian restaurant pot stickers I have had outside of China (at least for the north bay). They're very gingery which is unique and I get cravings for them. Our takeout experiences have been mixed; they've sometimes forgotten items in our order and we got home only to have to drive back and pickup the missing item which they never discount and is extra inconvenient bc they don't offer a delivery service unless you use third party like door dash. otherwise food has been consistently fresh since we've lived nearby. Kung Pao tofu dish is good. Wish the Sichuan noodle dish was more, how do I say... Sichuan-y? One thing I like about them is they put asparagus in some of the veggie dishes and soups. read more

I'm struggling with autoimmune issues and a nutritionist I work with wants me to eliminate a number of things from my diet, including gluten. As anyone else who's gone through this knows, it's been heartbreaking and defeating trying to find things - ANY things I can eat - recipes I don't have to modify, restaurants with dishes I can eat, a friend's delicious homemade (fill in the blank) at a potluck, whatever. The gentleman at Lily Kai promised that they would take good care of me and modify however I needed them to. He went beyond just asking for a list of things I couldn't have and discussed possible contamination of one food with another, discussed alternatives, and really worked with my restrictive diet to put together an absolutely delicious modified Mo Shu Shrimp, which I will definitely have again. Lily Kai is so consistently good that it is my favorite Chinese food in Petaluma. Out of maybe 20 visits only once was my order a little off the mark. Every other time it's been tasty and a fast/easy experience. The Kung Pao chicken here is such a great combo of flavor, heat, and veggie variety that it's my go-to. They cook the veg just enough while keeping a lot of the crunch! The green beans are a favorite side for all the same reasons. There have been a couple dishes that weren't my cup of tea, like Mongolian beef. For me it was too onion heavy/a little light on the beef but my family still liked it. My order was Orange Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Pork Buns, Veggie Spring Rolls, Pot Stickers, Chow Mein, and Wonton Soup. Everything was good, the broccoli beef was AMAZING! There food is good but raising their seafood plates $5 a plate is ridiculous. To me that's ripping customers off. Your suppose to gradually increase the price as things go up (inflation) by less than 2% not by 50% of orinal price. The potstickers were under cooked. We saw the many positive reviews on Lily Kai and decided to give it a try for lunch. We were so glad we did. The service was great. We ordered off of the lunch menu. We ordered food to go today, and got a huge sampling of the menu. Overall everything was great. Highlights were the pork pot stickers, and the sizzling rice soup. Both were done well and had lots of flavor. The Szechuan chicken and Princess chicken were also solid, although I definitely preferred the spicy kick of the Szechuan. The one low note was the Tomato and Egg drop soup. I'm not sure how the tomatoes fit into, and I've never seen it served that way before. Was pleasantly surprisingly by how much I enjoyed our food from here. Ordered the wanton soup, general's chicken, and Mongolian beef. All three had great flavor but my only gripe was how little beef actually came in our Mongolian beef entree. Like I understood that it isn't supposed to come with any vegetables so was expecting it to be mostly beef, however, in our little to go container there was easily 70% just white onions and 30% beef. When I used to work in Petaluma near this restaurant, it was an almost weekly go to for lunch. At the time I thought the food was good, kept me coming back. Now , I no longer work in Petaluma, but live in Petaluma. I had not eaten here in a few years as a result of my job change. So fast forward to these covid times. I have ordered take out twice over the last two months, and I am so impressed with the food. Their Mongolian Beef is the best I have ever tasted, so tender and so perfectly seasoned. The plain white rice is so fluffy, not dry at all. Their crab and cream cheese fried wontons are so darn good. I substituted hot mustard in exchange for sweet and sour sauce. That mustard went perfect with the crab wontons. I also, both times I have ordered, indicated I could not have sesame seeds on my order. Both times I was called back and asked if I was allergic to sesame oil. I am not. I have crohn's disease and cannot digest sesame seeds, but the oil is fine. This extra level of attentiveness really impressed me. I really am blown away by how great their food and service is. I do not think I need to venture elsewhere for my Chinese food cravings. read more

Picked up a variety of food from Lily Kai for dinner the other night. Ive been here once before to have dinner, and it was a good time! Family-owned restaurant that is a local business in Petaluma that appreciates their customers. Love supporting these types of places! We ordered the variety plate (comes with two of everything), and contains: barbecue spare ribs, jumbo fried prawns, crab cheese wontons, crispy spring rolls, foil wrapped chicken, and beef shish kabobs. Super good! Highly recommend getting. As our main entrees we had the sweet and sour pork, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, and steamed white rice.
