Sweet Potato Waffle Fries (5/5 stars) - You know what's wrong with sweet potato fries? They get soggy. These solve the soggy problem! They have that delicious sweet potato flavor and are very crunchy! Veggie Postickers (5/5) - They do not skimp on seasoning! The inside is super flavorful, and there's edamame! My partner really enjoyed the chicken saying they were juicy and flavorful. I got their chicken bibmpap bowl. It was a good lunch option. It comes with chicken, or beef or plain. I got it with chicken. It was flavorful. However I do agree that even the spicy has a bit of sweet to it. I got the garlic flavor chicken and got a bit of the spicy sauce on the side, but it had a sweet taste to it. I'm more a spicy person v spicy/ sweet flavor. The chicken Sandwhich also was a bit sweet. However the fries are really good. I just wish the spicy sauce was actually spicy with no sweet. I will say I am looking to come back to try their bulgogi fries. They looked pretty good. Service was quick, staff were friendly. Generally, all of my previous feedback still stands. I avoid the "mixed" because they include drumsticks and just go with wings, which are wings and drumettes. Recently, the mix has been pretty even, which is perfect! The one thing they've improved is that they now have a "classic crunch" flavor which is a seasoned "plain" - these are so crispy because there's no sauce and they taste delicious because they're seasoned. In addition they still have the "no sauce/no seasoning" wings for those of you that are watching the sodium intake and/or want to use your own seasonings (try some Pursuit Farms XXHeat on these - it's absolutely fire if you love Sichuan spices). Additionally, they now serve alcohol for dine-in with a variety of bottled and draft beer, as well as soju. Prices are very reasonable! Lastly, just a small bit of feedback for the team. The boxes for the chicken have vent holes to prevent steam from softening the crispy batter. When this is placed into a plastic bag that is almost sealed shut, it loses its effect. Similarly, the bag for fries should not be folded over shut multiple times or else they get soggy, even after the 10 minute drive back home. The MoPo Corndog was picture-worthy, the cheese pull was amazing~! The outer layer was super crunchy. Korean Street Corn was alright. I wouldn't rec' it. The seasoned fries were too salty, but the plain ones had a good crisp. We got the mixed soy garlic. The chicken was a bit dry and under sauced, but it checked the box for getting Korean fried chicken in this area. The chicken was well prepared, no broken bones or anything. We're a bit spoiled from living in k-town in Santa Clara and going to Von's all the time, but it's pretty standard compared to other Bonchons. The pork katsu sandwich was interesting. I wished the pork belly was tender and falls apart but it wasn't like that! Still it was ok. The bibimbap is sooo good! And the bulgogi fries! However I'm disapponted by the chicken. I ordered the boneless chicken with soy garlic and Korean bbq sauce. Unfortunately there was not enough sauce on either. Good for here. We got takeout for the road since we were on our way for a roadtrip. The guy at the front was really friendly and helpful with any questions that we had. We had ordered 10 wings half n half with soy garlic and yangneom, an order of japchae with an egg, and a side of pickled radish for palette cleansing. The chicken was still a bit crispy when we got it. The flavors were pretty good though not very strong in my opinion. The soy garlic had a nice light sweetness to it but not too much on the garlic. The yangneom was similar, but didn't have any kick to it whatsoever. It'd be interesting to get the sauce on the side to control that part of it, maybe preserve some of the crunch. If it is still light tho maybe it's the flavors themselves, I'm not sure. We'll just have to go back and try em out in case. The japchae was cooked well, a little oily, and the flavor light as well. Just an ok experience. The call to order Bulgogi, Chicken Katsu, Korean Street Corn, & Fries for takeout was a fairly easy transaction. We were a little thrown that they asked when we wanted it ready versus giving a time when they would be able to have it prepared for us. It didn't take long to get our food, it was packed nicely, & came hot. I don't know if we missed a utensil station, but we didn't receive any napkins or utensils, weren't asked if we needed any, & weren't directed to get any ourselves. Bulgogi was ok. The meat pieces were still quite attached to each other. I liked that it had a little bit of scallions, onions, & mushrooms. However, the accompanying portion of rice was pretty small, especially in proportion. Chicken Katsu had a good texture, taste was standard. Corn was ok. Fries were tasty. So excited we got a Bonchon in Sonoma County now! I've gone a few times now and it's always good. The workers are very helpful and patient. I highly recommend ordering the wings and get their spicy sauce! (Drumsticks are HUGE but for me they didn't have that crispness of the wings.) The soy garlic is also delicious but the spicy sauce has a nice sweet and spicy flavor. The chicken is always so crispy but the meat is juicy and moist. The perfect combination! Their japchae was surprisingly good as well as their fries. I don't think you can go wrong with their sides. It is a little pricey but for the quality of the food I think it's worth it to get once in a while. We make rice at home to go with it since the side of rice is super small. Chicken sandwiches was pack with 3 small piece of fried chicken with 1/5 cup of coleslaw without fries for 13 dollars. was serve half full in plastic container, for 14 dollars.......not enough of ingredients ( fish cake, vegetable, and rice cake). Flavor is good for those 3 items we ordered, but will not ever order again . We were talking to other customers next table. They liked the fried wings and gladly share their food with us. Yes. Next time we will come back for the wing. Overall, flavor is above average for Korean food. It won't be the restaurant that we like it enough to come back because the portion. If you want to charge higher price, at least make customers feel money are worthy to the value to come back, and not feel cheated with the amount of portions. Four stars for the new Bonchon in Petaluma! They opened last Thursday and we came Friday night to do take out. The line was passed the door snaking down the back of the restaurant when we arrived around 620pm. Service is slow as they are working out their kinks. We knew it would be as we called for take out only to be told they they are backed up and not doing phone orders. They are also not doing online orders at the moment. It took 30 mins to get to the register to order. We were told they are not selling any shareables and only chicken and fries. After we ordered, it took another 45 mins to receive our order. So was it worth it you ask me? It was! The chicken was fantastic, crunchy, tossed in soy garlic and spicy Korean bbq sauce (I ordered half and half). I ordered both the boneless and the strips. I prefer the boneless more as they are more bite size, tender and easier to eat. I find that the strips were a little on the dryer side. It comes with a side of your choice, I got the radishes and cold slaw. Didn't end up eating them as we were stuffed from the chicken! I would definitely come back especially once they're running the train smoothly. I would do online order once that is up. I also appreciated the manager (or owner) coming out from the kitchen and thanking us for visiting and he appreciates our patience. There was about a 10 minute wait in line & once ordered about another 15 or so. Not the fastest but not horrible for a new & popular spot. Crew member were friendly, helpful, & decently upbeat. I think confidence is still being built up but that will come with time, off to a great start! MY ORDER: Small Wings [6 count] w/ Pickled Raddish Half Soy-Garlic & Half Yangnyeom Commentary: The hype for Korean Fried Chicken is understandable & I, now, know why! This chicken was fried hard with a crunchy outer layer & the inside, the meat was juicy. The batter clung to each bite giving a consistent experience. Now you know, this isn't always the case with fried chicken let alone fried foods. They know THE SECRET! Both sauces, flavors were on point. Soy Garlic, you pretty much know what you're getting. Can't go wrong with the soy garlic. The Yangnyeom sauce, I would say, is comparable to a sweet chili sauce. Had wonderful tang & a low/medium spice level. I'm sure anyone could stand. Great wings! I am so excited that bonchon is so close to me know. I used to go to Berkley to get Bonchon. Me and my friend share bulgogi fries, 8 wings, and 4 drumsticks combo, pork buns, and it was fabulous! One thing is I wish the pork bun was warm, but it was kind of cold but still delish. The bao is still soft and bouncy. Minus 1 star because I got boneless chicken and each individual chicken was so small. I am recommending to get the drumsticks or the wings drumsticks combo instead. We also got pickled radish as a side order it cost about $3, i believe, but the container was only about 40% full, and I was quite disappointed. What happened to this place. I went today after months of not going and no one was there. After ordering 35.00 in take out, and waiting 20 minutes, while two people that came in after me got their order first, I get home and the food is terrible. The chicken was so dry my daughter couldn't eat it and the dish I ordered, the plastic container was only half full and so overly salty, I couldn't eat it. What a waste of money. I will not be back. We ordered the 23 piece mixed wing and drum, soy chicken friend rice, japchae, bulgogi fries, and potstickers. The two wing flavors that we got with the order were soy garlic and Korean bbq. The wings were good but I think next time we would just get wings and not wings and drums. The wings itself can with flats and drums but the "drums" was a super large piece of drumstick. It was good but I just wanted wings. The soy garlic was the winner of the two flavors. Personally I prefer more a dry rub wing so they stay more crispy. I know when we went to Korea they had a lot more options at KFC places. The japchae was so good! Good favor of sesame oil. The bulgogi fries were also very good with still a good crisp on the fries for being take out. Fried rice was ok. Felt it was a little dry. I didn't try the potstickers but they looked average. The Korean Fried Chicken (KFC) at BonChon was excellent with the perfectly crispy skin and the sauce was just right. The pickled radish and kimchi were quite good as well. However, we were surprised to find a shellfish warning on the bulgogi, which we discovered after our purchase. We would have expected such a warning for the kimchi, but we were assured it was shellfish-free. It's unusual for bulgogi marinade to contain shellfish derivatives, so I didn't think to ask about whether the bulgogi had any shellfish product in it before buying it. I've been wanting to try this place for so long, so during my trip with the family, we decided to order takeouts here. Rating the items that we had: Bulgogi Fries: a solid 5/5. It was so good that we ended up devouring the whole box outside in the parking lot. The fries were fresh, piping hot, and crispy; portion was generous, and the bulgogi beef was tender and very well marinated. So bomb! Wings: Literally the best Korean Fried Chicken I've ever had. The wings; they ATE. We got 8 pieces of wings and picked the 2 sauces soy garlic and yangnyeom. The wings were super crunchy and they gave just the right amount of sauces. The soy garlic sauce is sweet and savory with a nice garlicky kick. Meanwhile, the yangnyeom sauce is mildly spicy and sweet, really wakes up your tastebuds. I could not pick which one I liked more and my parents also ended up loving them both. Now I'm interested in trying the rest of their other chicken pieces. Mind you, they also have DRUMS Korean Tacos: They give you 3 tacos but those are HUUUGE. Even though I was sharing but I could get full from a big bite. It only took 7 minutes in total! Woah!! I can definitely see how busy it could get with it A) being a new restaurant in town B) small space Which leads me to... Ambiance/Restaurant itself: the space is a little small. I think that in total there were about 7 tables inside the restaurant. There was a lot of wall art/wallpaper (sorry didn't get a pic of this!) that I really enjoyed so look out for that! And finally, the FOOD!: I ordered the 6 pc soy garlic wing combo meal (drink & side included). I really liked it! The batter was super crispy, the chicken was juicy inside! I definitely wish it had just a little more sauce. Since this was my first time here, I was a little overwhelmed & forgot to order their dips!
