This is how I like my egg tarts: fat, gooey, humongous, soft, full of custard, more custard-to-crust ratio. The best egg tarts are in Brooklyn! You can get these perfect Portuguese egg tarts from any of the Lily Bloom Bakery or Xin Fa Bakery locations (sister stores). The crust is flaky and thick, while the custard is creamy and rich. The inside is silky smooth and irresistible, while the top is slightly burnt for a caramelized flavor. They're melt-in-your-mouth when you bite into it. I really wish we had a location in Queens. Since the egg tarts are so popular, their turnover rate is really high. That's why they're always fresh and warm!

Love their Portuguese egg tart, not too sweet and creamy.. They used to be very good, somehow it doesn't taste as good as before, But the one located at 8th Ave. is still very good. This location egg tart still very good, especially when it is freshly comes out from the oven. Would definitely go back again.

There is a clear distinction between cultures here so when leaving a review for an establishment that's outside of your usual norm you have to understand that what you expect and what they deliver might differ based on cultural norm. That being said knowing the culture of Lily Bloom, I want to state that aside from the language barrier. The food is fantastic.. We are speaking on a quick run and run out bakery level that has mediocre coffee but honey lemon iced tea out of this world, Portuguese, egg tart, and some other great bakery items to each their own not going to list everything. Highly recommend this place for a quick bite. It's conveniently located by my house so I have the luxury of coming here often. 9/10 highly suggest to try if you're around and like this kind of cuisine

My go to spot for Portuguese tarts. Half a dozen cost $10.50. Super thick and and buttery! Yummy There can be a long line however it moves pretty quickly. Most of the freshly baked bread is behind a table and you tell a staff what type of bread you want and they pack it for you to pay at the counter.

Their Portuguese egg tarts used to be so good but they have declined over the years. The filling is good, eggy and not too sweet however, it's the crust that I have an issue with. It is soggy and not flaky. I think it could be this location. The one in 8th is so much better. Also there is no wait for the tarts.

I've been to Xinfa bakery in sunset and had no idea this location is the same owner. LOVE their Portuguese egg tarts. Definitely wish this place was closer to where I live. I got a HK style milk tea that wasn't too sweet (perfect for me), a Portuguese egg tart (super creamy texture that somehow is able to hold it's form), and a sponge triangle shape cake for the next day (which was nice and fluffy). A good variety for everyone who walks in, except for the lady who wanted a croissant - sorry, no croissants here. I do wish they made protocols for indoor dining. The beauty of these bakeries for me is that they used to be an awesome space to get a quick bite or wait for a friend. Having said that, it'd probably wouldn't be up to standards since I can't imagine every grandma walking in would abide by it, which is why it doesn't exist currently. As much as you want to social distance, you just gotta come when it's not busy. Seniors are just gonna cut in line like you don't exist (lol). Know what you want when you get up to the counter and you're good to go!

The food is great and there is a variety of options. They are best known for their Portuguese tarts sold at 1.50 each. The tarts are thick, not TOO sweet, and the crust is bready ~ pot pie texture- not flaky or like fruit tarts. I will say that you really have to be assertive here. When they ask who ordered x amount of tarts, you have to step up and say it's you even if others also ordered the same amount. I have witnessed this happening but also know that the egg tarts come in batches so even if someone takes that batch, more will come out right away. I'll be trying the salted lemonade next time.

Lily Bloom is such a trendsetter. Their Portuguese egg tarts inspired the neighboring bakeries to start selling them too, but I have to say Lily Bloom does it best! Those tarts are incredibly creamy with a thick, flaky tart. I could seriously eat a bunch of them in one sitting. There's also another branch in the 8th ave area. Aside from their tarts, they also have some interesting pastries like nougat cake by the front door. As for whole cakes, they only had about five options and all were on the smaller end. It's hard to social distance in there while on line, especially since they blocked off the back half of the store. But service is fairly quick.

OMFG why are these potats so addicting? 95% of the time, I buy a half dozen intending to have breakfast for at least three days, but whaddaya know, it's gone by lunch time between three people at most. If you don't get a piping hot or even fresh warm batch, you need to pop these in the oven/toaster oven for 10-15 minutes and the crust is going to be unbelievably buttery and flaky. Don't worry, custard isn't going to be overcooked!

Still offers some of the best egg tarts around! Smooth egg custard and flaky crust. A great balance in portion. Just the way my family and I like it. I haven't been too lucky with my egg tarts lately and was so happy to have been able to stop by here to pick up a dozen. From past experience, they run put of the egg tarts pretty quickly. The egg custard from other places have become very dense. Even from Harper's Bakery in Chinatown that is literally called "Egg Tart King" in Chinese have been letting me down. Not to mention Lily Bloom usually offers a fun assortment of breads. I love my carbs. I feel like they experiment quite often so there I always find new things to try.

You come here for their famous egg tarts. Every Chinese bakery fanatic I've encountered comes here for their egg tarts only. The secret in their egg tarts that makes its texture so addictive is they add cream. Sinfully delicious and the only chain that offers egg tarts this way. Granted I don't take pictures of the tarts because I live literally 10 minutes away from this place. The amount of times I've eaten from here, I should be hitting the gym twice weekly. Sometimes you just have to show self control for things this good. Their other desserts are amazing as well - the lemon coconut flake buns, the Japanese loaf cheesecake, mango sagos and braised raisin buns. I also come here for their iced coffee milk tea (this I remember to take a picture of). Before the pandemic, they allowed customers to go to the sweets station and get a closer look at the goods. But now they closed it off and the servers can only roam there to service everyone. Tips for customers: Show up early when you can to get those egg tarts, they do run out. And if the day is still early and you don't see any egg tarts on display, just wait for the servers to bring out a fresh batch to restock. They're always cooking the egg tarts round the clock since this is their popular item to push. Be prepared to bring more cash than anticipated. This bakery does charge more than your usual Chinese bakery as it is above scale. Bon appetit.

Great Portuguese egg tart! There's a lot of custard filling. Not too sweet, not overly creamy and nice crust! If I'm ever in the neighborhood again, will definitely pick up a dozen.

But this review is about something bigger than dessert. The strawberry cheesecake here reminds me of my mom. It was her favorite, and it was one of the last desserts I got to share with her. Anytime she wanted a sweet treat, that's what she asked for. Ordering it now keeps me connected to her. This past July, on her 3rd birthday in heaven, I placed an order to celebrate her. The menu only had cherry cheesecake that day, so I wrote a note explaining what the strawberry meant to me. The staff didn't just make it happen, they sent an extra slice of strawberry cheesecake on top of it. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. The people here have always been this kind. We love everyone who works there, and we're grateful for the small moments of care they've shown our family. Thank you for everything.

Everything was perfect. Perfect techniques. Perfect flavors and such robust flavors and textures. I was so impressed. I wish I could eat more right now, everyday. The most tomatoey focaccia. The most vanilla and crispy yet soft flakey Kouign Ammon. The most garlicky knot. The most tart & chocolatie almond croissant. Can't say enough.

Expect to wait a minimum of 30-45mins everytime you come here. This shop is known for their famous…read morefoccacia sandwiches. They also sell unique seasonal pastries too. These are the things I've gotten: Bacon and Chive Focaccia (5/5): I would get this anytime they have it available because it's a warm focaccia with cheesy spread loaded with crispy bacon and sausage with chives. The bread is bouncy and the perfect amount of dough with the savory bacon and sausage. The chives gives it a freshness. Beware they sell this at 10am and runs out FAST. Like 30-1 hr fast and they don't make anymore for the rest of the day lol. Or at least I've went 3 times here and the 2 times they sold out by 11am and the one time I've gotten it, it was 10:15am. Beef and Arugula Focaccia (4.5/5): If you can't grab a bacon and chive focaccia then this is their next BEST one! It comes on a sea salt focaccia that's loaded with slices of thin beef, caramelized red onions, arugula, and slathered with a good horseradish mayo spread that coats the greens. This is delicious! Listen it didn't look appetizing but this one the taste over looks and it was one of the most flavorful sandwiches I had. The horse radish mayo gives it a nice punch! The beef was so tender. Turkey and Pesto Focaccia (4/5): This was loaded with turkey slices, slathered with a generous pesto spread, and had kale that seemed like it was seasoned lightly with olive oil or a tangy vinaigrette. This worked very well with the focaccia which soaked it all in and the kale was perfectly tender and balanced out the saltiness from pesto and turkey. Safe choice for sure! Corn Cake (5/5): You must get this pastry if it's your first time here or anytime you want a sweet treat. I honestly think this is their best dessert ever and would get it everytime. It's a moist, chewy on the inside brown butter corn cake that tastes like corn bread mixed with brownie texture if you get what I mean. The outside is crunchy while inside is perfectly chewy and moist. Love this! Vanilla Kouign Amann (4.5/5): They do their Kouign Amanns close to perfection here. Theirs comes with the infamous caramelized sugar bottom and the inside is nice and fluffy with layers of buttered croissant like bread. Well done! Double Chocolate Croissant (2/5): This was not good as when I bit into the pastry it was flat and soft. Not a good chewiness or flakiness at all.
