The server did a great job with making sure that our drinks were filled, and we had to go boxes and brought our food out in a timely manner. Some of the appetizer choices were the calamari, fried kale and crab claw lollipops. All three were absolutely outstanding, and the portions were large. For dinner, our choices are rockfish, lobster, mac & cheese, filet mignon, or grilled chicken green curry. Again, the portion sizes were large and everyone enjoyed their meals. We were able to choose from a flourless chocolate torte or cheesecake. I forgot to mention that the Caesar salad was so fresh and the dressing was outstanding. I would like to come back and experience the restaurant and their entire menu. The upstairs had a fun, urban feel with a fireplace and a cool bar. We felt comfortable and it was a fun vibe.

You see, back in 17th century England, private houses would open their homes to the public and sell food and beer. Hence, public house. Over time, they dropped the "lic house" and just called them pubs. Because you never dropped the "lic house" makes me think that you haven't evolved like you should have. And frankly, your food is proof. In fact, it even made me nostalgic. But not in the way you might think. You see, I loved making fun food concoctions when I was a kid. My sister and I would watch this corny show called "Zoom" on Maryland public television, where the kid hosts would make recipes sent in from all over the country. We'd make homemade peanut butter cups using Jif and semisweet chocolate chips. Or weird sandwich combinations like pickles and potato chips and cheese and jelly. The seafood egg rolls weren't the worst part of my meal, but they were definitely sophomoric--as if a kid chef-in-training was asked to whip something up from Chinese food leftovers. Seafood should never taste fishy, yet these did. One bite hit me like something that had been sitting a little too long above the waterline. Not to mention, they were laying on a greasy glob of some mayonnaise accompaniment disguised as a fancy garnish you'd see on MasterChef. One word: Ick. The ahi tacos. Oh boy. My mind fills with seawater the moment I think of them because they tasted as if they had been fished right out of the ocean and then placed on my plate. They were wet. Soaked. Drenched. The gelatinous seaweed clump on each taco wasn't culinary-forward, just unappetizing. I took one bite and wished I could spit it back out, but I reluctantly swallowed it. My esophagus is now aquaphobic thanks to you. The moment the coconut jasmine rice hit my mouth, my tastebuds took the red eye to the coconut tree haven of the Maldives. Normally, this wouldn't be a bad thing, but the rice and coconut had no cohesion. It tasted like my younger self dumping a handful of shredded coconut--the sweetened kind my mom kept in the pantry for the wool on her Easter-shaped lamb cake--into a cup of microwaveable rice. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was your kind, charismatic waiter. He was lovely in every way--attentive, sweet, and helpful. He would have been an incredible host on "Zoom." If only his personality made the food taste better. For your sake, I hope you learn to evolve your kitchen's offerings beyond the amateurish trio I experienced. If not, your restaurant's bones may end up fossilized alongside every other place that couldn't adapt.

I lived in Boston previously and Thames's lobster roll is BETTER than any I had there. It's my default order, but explore their specials when they catch my eye. I can also recommend thier scallops and fish. Their crab cakes are great as well; however, I reccomend getting other items here and crab cakes elsewhere if you're making multiple food stops in Bmore as there are equally good crab cakes at other places (Pappas, Faidleys, Nick's, Coco's etc.) but not equally good other dishes. I'm not an oyster guy, but they also have the best raw bar in town, and they have an in house dedicated pastry chef who makes desserts which are to die for if you save room.

I'd been to Baltimore for Christmas with her but wanted to see what her summers were like growing up. Her father's best friend since 1st grade, her godfather, offered to treat us to Thames St Oyster House and we could not pass up the offer. We'd been before, she'd been several times. It was her dad and godfather's favorite place to celebrate big occasions. We loved it. As we sat down at our table her godfather exclaimed "Well I'm not the only one paying for this meal, I've been waiting to use this." It was a $100 gift card from my fiancé's late father, in his handwriting. We were floored. We all got choked up and cried a little. It felt like her father was giving us his blessing from beyond the grave. The oysters were phenomenal. The crab cake was amazing. The local beer was perfect on a hot day. Then it came time to pay. We were horrified when the waitress came back with the gift card and told us it was expired. Expired? There is no expiration date printed on it which means it is legally valid indefinitely. She explained that they changed POS systems since the card had been purchased (again, by my fiancé's late father before he was taken by cancer) and that the new system did not recognize it. "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." No offer to grab a manager to see if a portion of the meal could be comped. Just $100 spent by a dearly departed that Thames St Oyster House does not have to answer for. A very tender moment ruined by poor customer service. They've lost 3 repeat customers.

Me & my husband split a combo boil 2lbs snow crab legs & 1 lb clams, we added extra corn and got a side of hush puppies. We chose the Cajun sauce and made it medium- delicious and a nice kick! They do provide bibs, gloves & wet napkins for easy cleanup. We had a young lady as our waitress, very friendly & took good care of us. The restaurant is nicely decorated & there is plenty of seating - they also offer a big round table for larger parties. Also, if you have kids - not to worry , there are chicken fingers on the menu along with fries. Overall, enjoyed our meal & will be back in the future.

He brought us Cheesecake with a firework candle for my wife's birthday! The steamer pot was delicious with 1lb of crab legs. Came with corn and potatos too! On par with most seafood boil places in regards to price. Nice being able to choose your flavor and how spicy you would like it! Lemon pepper wings were very good, the wings were HUGE! The hush puppies were okay, they were served with Butter. They were not the best part of the meal. Overall we would love to go back sometime! Great seafood boil! The combos seemed great for larger parties!

We decided to stop in here as it's been a while since we last started here and the seafood is simply outstanding. The staff is very welcoming helpful and they will answer any questions that you may have and they make sure you're well taken care of. We had a pound and a half of the steam shrimp which are an extremely nice size and done to perfection and we also had the crabcake and two fried shrimp which were butterfly and the flavor is just incredible and the crabcake all crab and it was just amazing . The location is very easy. It's right next to the Hanover post office on the corner. There's plenty of parking along the street and in the back in their small parking lot and they are known for their crabs and there were people coming and left and right picking up their orders and they do a really nice business here. The inside is always very clean. Tables are clean and it's a small place but it's very relaxing and you can bring your own bottle as well. So if you're in the area and you're looking for some good crabs, shrimp and seafood give this place a try you will not be disappointed . Happy New Year !

My brother and I wanted something for lunch after going to a car swap meet. We landed on Rock Salt Grille. I'd eaten there several times before. We arrived at 11:45 AM (Saturday) and there was a 30 minute wait, so we grabbed two comfortable seats at the bar. A good call. I had the Rock Salt Oysters, broiled with bacon and parmigiana. Delightful. I also had the cream of, and Maryland crab, soup combination. My brother had the crab cake sandwich. I'd had it before, but wanted the oysters. His crab cake sandwich was double the size of any I'd ever seen, without exaggeration. He guessed it was 8 ounces or more, without exaggeration, with no visible filler, (Broiled). I had a few beers and we split the Bread pudding with Grand Marnier sauce. It was enough for four. The bar and food service was spectacular with "tag teaming" to make sure we didn't wait for anything. I'd like to thank the bartenders who served us perfectly: Kelsey and Nikkea. Award winners. Rock Salt is not inexpensive, but the quality of the food and the great service justify the premium. I'll be back more often
