Summary: Thank you Andre. I really appreciate the job you did. I feel so much better after parting with "stuff" that I had held onto because my parents and grandparents had passed it to me. Not because I had a use for the items. Some of the things had made multiple moves with me and were never unpacked! The backstory: I paid a moving service to pack and remove, then store my house so I could put it on the market to sell. The company did not do a good job at all. They were rough with delicate items and I ended up with broken glass, marble, and ceramic items along with stretched and torn artwork on canvases. Many things were broken beyond repair, and the storage looked like a junkyard when I opened it to retrieve some items I had asked not be packed. I couldn't even step inside the storage when I first opened it! Andre came to help and within a couple of hours everything was taken out of the storage and organized into different categories. He didn't ask many questions. I was happy to not be very involved in the initial removal of the items as it was almost traumatic to see the things I owned carelessly thrown on top of one another. It was such a relief to see everything packed back into the storage unit and taking up less than half the space that the movers had originally left completely full. If I would have known of Andre's service, I would've hired him to come in and help me before I hired the movers. That way all my important stuff would have been protected and cared for better. Lighter & Brighter is true to their name. Andre was fantastic to work with. I did call other people and got a few estimates but really felt like L&B was a good choice and boy they did not disappoint. Let me start with our garage, it was a looming disaster that continued to grow and get out of control. We finally decided it was time to get it cleaned out and organized. I gave Andre a call and got it scheduled. I really felt comfortable as he explained exactly his process, which was in line to what we had been reading about organizing. Take everything out and then sort through it. Andre and his crew came last week and went straight to business. What I thought was going to take hours of removing all the stuff in the garage, they had it done quickly and efficiently. It was going to be a long day. We sifted through all our stuff, and being in a purging state of mind, we tallied up about 4 to 5 car loads to go to goodwill/salvation army, and quite a load that filled out 2 trash bins, recycle bin and still had a load for bulk pick up with the city. I hired Andre 5 or 6 weeks ago, and have had weekly sessions of help from him. My 1 bedroom apartment in LA needed serious help, and I mean serious. I failed a city inspector's random visit to my apt. complex and immediately began to search for someone to aid me, as I am in my late 60s with a lot of restrictions on my ability to lift heavy objects and stamina/health issues. I've worked 2, 4 hour organizing sessions with Andre, and have to say...he's really great at so many things besides just organizing. He's also very handy and good at fixing things. I have a gate for my dog that needed to be attached to the door jam and he did a fantastic job.
