I'm normally a huge Lidl fan and do most of my shopping there, but since moving here I've been to this location 4-5 times and haven't been impressed. Every time I've gone, they're out of the sale items--even when I stop by the morning the sale starts. Employees don't seem to know what's going on, there's constant yelling over walkie talkies, and the store feels disorganized with items just thrown around. Really disappointing, as Lidl is usually my favorite store, but this location has a lot of room for improvement. read more

Omg please be careful and check the best by dates on stuff. Found a package of sliced Turkey that had a best by date of June 4th and it was June 28th. I handed it to the manager and she did not seem all that concerned. Wonder if any customers have gotten sick from buying grossly out of date meat products. I just left the Augusta Ga store. While I was being checked out and associate yanked my cart out of the check out lane to the end , and put it at the very end where I could not reach it. Both my purse and my cane were in the cart. Not a smart move. And when you try to talk to someone on the phone you can't. He did not ask if he could move my cart , he just yanked to the end of the check out..... read more

The manager can be heard clearly over employees walkie-talkies, yelling and berating them. I don't know who she was talking to directly, but I get extremely tired of hearing this so-called manager any time I am there & she is there. It's unpleasant and must be for whomever she is fussing at so loudly. Wish this was taken seriously. read more

Lidl has been our 'go-to' for the eggs/cheese/milk staples for years now. The prices are generally lower than (and selection as expansive) nearby competitors Kroger and Publix. The fruit and veg section is also full of vibrant colors and variety. We tend to shop the perimeter, but there are all types of treasures throughout. Many European offerings and items that are unfamiliar (to me) allow for exploration and experimentation when preparing meals. I really appreciate this lower-cost option, especially as inflation is taking a bite out of our wallets everywhere else. read more

Okay.... if you are coming in here for just a certain item, you might as well hang that up. You are going to leave out with a bunch of stuff! Lidl is described as a Scandinavian grocery store similar to Aldi except you don't need to pay a quarter for the carts. If you don't wanna to pay for the bags. Bring in your own recyclable bags (you bag your own at the register). Omg... I was shocked with the value and quality of their foods. So dirt cheap. Where do I begin... The bakery has a wide selections of pastries, cakes, breads and more.. fresh everyday. The vegetable section is fresh and a wide variety of certified organics. Very impressed with their oils and seasoning section. For the price, you cannot beat how much they have. From truffle oil, grape seed, avocado, garlic... you name it, they have it. The seafood and meat section is worth trying as well as their dairy section. Plus they have a miscellaneous section for household goods. My favorite that I geeked out the most was the beer and wine section! You can get a decent Malbec, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon for 4.99. I was blown away that I got brut, Prosecco, and Riesling for under 7.99 a bottle. I was able to score a tripel Belgium (beer) for my Mr back home. This place has so much to offer and I was pretty impressed with the products. Make sure to download their app for discounts (rewards program for free). This is a bigger Aldi really but it's new and something different for Augusta so I for one, welcome it. Yes, it doesn't have the selection of Publix and Kroger. Yes, it doesn't have really fancy shmancy gourmet items like Fresh Market but it also has unique items that you won't find anywhere else and has all your basic essentials so that's a plus. Here are some snippets I heard while perusing the aisle: "They don't have a butcher. I don't trust the meat in the plastic packages." You'd rather they sit out in the open air for you to hand pick it god knows how many hours later? "It's awfully crowded here." And it's opening week. "I don't know any of these brands" That's the idea. They're Lidl brands and they stand behind it. So if you don't like it, bring it back. "It's awfully expensive" You kidding me? $1.49 for a pound of asparagus? Go away. I need to point out that I do not work at Lidl but I appreciate the healthier options they have, the European treats (that I reminisced about fondly while clearing the shelves) and the low prices on staples like lactose free milk ($2.49) and eggs ($1.49) and bread ($.99). Like any new business, they'll have their growing pains and they'll figure out their niche market and bring in items that will probably bring us back. I enjoy finding a big tub of Big League Chew just steps away from fresh herbs. The layout is confusing for sure, but interesting at least. read more

I shop at Lidl all the time encourage people to shop there as well. I love their great prices however this is what I have found lately. This was yesterday afternoon at Lidl in North Augusta South Carolina, This is one of many rotten yellow squash. This is not something that happens in an hour I was totally alarms ... I told one of the workers and he did remove all the rotten squash. This is something that anybody walking by would have seen it !! Everyone is times are tough but this is unacceptable ! read more

I love this store. It has literally cut my groceries costs in half. I can get fresh produce and fresh breads for a fraction of the costs. Who cares if they don't have name brand products. They have products from Europe, which are healthier and less additives. You can find almost anything you're looking for. read more

I love everything about Lidl! The prices are super low and the quality of the items are super high. I was initially concerned that everything would taste off, but in fact my husband and I have found some items where we like the Lidl brand better! The best part is the fresh bakery though. New business in the area is always welcomed. And when that business appears to be direct competition to another store, even better. Also a discount grocer is always nice to have around for when you need to pick up only a few items and go, without paying for the convenience. So I pulled into the parking lot. Lidl is obviously expecting people. The parking lot is expansive. Though you may have to walk a little, you should be able to find a spot somewhere. I will mention that you cannot come straight across the road out of the Kroger parking lot to enter. There is a median blocking that path. Once parking, I made sure to check the carts. Unlike a similar type of store, Lidl does not charge you to use a cart. I don't like carrying charge around so this was convenient. This being my first time walking into any Lidl, I prepared myself for anything. What I got was clean, sharp, welcoming, and open. Now one expects clean, as it has been less than a week but still I appreciate it. The colors and modern design around the store were top notch. Many of the employees said hello, even if stocking, and asked if I needed help finding anything. The ceiling is high and the lights are soft, which makes for a nice time exploring the place. I will warn you that if you have a sweet tooth, the bakery awaits as soon as you walk through the door. The aroma and the site make it hard to resist (but I did, only to buy something else). Overall the prices looked either comparable or less than what I am used to paying. There are organic selections of certain items, but overall not enough selection to do all of my grocery shopping here. They do have a sample of everything; dairy, seafood, frozen pizzas, orange juice, toilet paper, and even wine and beer. But I would only come here for the food. I hyper focused on two areas; breakfast and produce. Here I was pleasantly surprise, where some of my regularly purchased items were half the price of my normal grocery store. So it did prove itself to be what I was hoping, a place for a quick stop or to save a few bucks. I will say that I walked out with a few items, including a massive bag of popcorn (olive oil and sea salt) that was only $1.50. I will be back. I came mid afternoon during the week so this may not be the norm, but 6 registers were open and I didn't have to wait in a line. *Insider's Tip -Again, because this place is new you may wonder if the information on Yelp is correct. Though unclaimed, it is all correct. -Bring your own bag(s). This is one of those places where you buy your own bag. They start at .07, but go up from there. WOW. Oh is that too short? Let me expound. After having dinner across the street at Miyako's Japanese Restaurant I remembered I needed a couple of items and saw the sign right before parking in Kroger. As a first timer, I assumed parking would be a bear and even had my quarter ready for the cart. Both were unnecessary thoughts. The lot was clean and adequately built for Augusta sized grocery traffic while the carts where just there - no deposit required. The bakery hits you right in the face when you walk in and it is a pleasant blow. My daughter was already grabbing a bag for pretzel rolls after seeing the $0.59 sticker. Next we grabbed some fresh and inexpensive produce and even some fancy cheeses for the low. We perused the whole store and my couple of items turned into buying three bags for my haul. The produce was delicious and lasted in the fridge longer than most as I tend to over do the squash and one inevitably gets trashed. Not this time! OMG the ice cream is so comparable to some guys who names rhyme with Ten and Merry for only $1.59. Yes, some of the labels are different so it kinda feels like a gamble but take it because they stand behind their product if you don't like it. I wanted to check out this grocery store since I wasn't familiar with it. So happen it was opening week when I stopped in. Pulling into the parking lot there was an employee directing traffic. I almost turned around and left because I don't like to deal with crowds when I grocery shop but I went in anyway. I'm glad I did. They had a dj outside, employees passing out circulars, and face painting for kids. There was so much to see and shop for. I stopped by the bakery first and bought 4 oatmeal raisin cookies for $0.59 a piece. They were huge and really tasty. They had a variety of pastries, breads, and cookies. Next stop was the fruit which was inexpensive too and mostly organic. This store had so many things you can buy. I wouldn't even consider it a grocery store because they sell so much more like shoes, sheets, socks, underwear, clothes, and kitchenware. I was quite impressed. There were tons of employees working that day. I would say I saw about 50 employees working that day, so if you needed help with anything they weren't far away. They had employees giving out samples of items sold in the store as well. I tried 2 of them, one which I didn't like at all. The employees I came in contact with were very pleasant and friendly. You can tell they were happy to be working. I can see me stopping in again and checking out what all they have to offer again. read more

What a crazy grocery store/mini-mall outlet? Walking down one aisle with fresh baked goodies to walking down one with Heidi Klum dresses and shoes it was a bit wild. Such odd finds to be had here but the prices were reasonable and I did find it quite fun checking out the items in this clean store of eclectic goods. I also enjoyed the fact that paper bags are used. Good paper bags w handles. I miss the days when they were staple. Only tip, make sure you have time to explore on your first trip here! read more

Went back last night to pick up a few doughnuts from the bakery. The store was at normal levels after the hype of the opening. They were out of jam doughnuts and I asked the lady behind the counter if there would be any more tonight and she said no worries I will make you some and they will be ready before you leave :) I was also after some frozen roast potatoes which didn't seem to be out this time as they were on special last time. I asked another lady out on the floor - her name was Valerie. She couldn't see them either but she said "I will go back into the freezer and see if there are any" and then she appeared with a bag for me. Customer service is ace at this store. read more

Store is always clean and quiet. Much lower prices than competitors. Carries same products and brands as other stores. Sells wine and beer.

We love this place. A lot of the packaged foods are on par with the much higher priced equivalents, and they're a fraction of the price. They do have name brand items, if that's your preference. The fresh produce can sometimes be a gamble however, but mostly it's not bad. We almost always leave the store surprised at how little we have spent. Highly recommend checking it out! read more

The best ever.so normally my husband and I shop at Aldi and then finish our shopping at Kroger, but this place makes it so I don't have to go to different t places! My husband went to the one in Orangeburg before the ones in Augusta... When explaining it toe he said "it's kinda like Aldi and Kroger had a baby... And that's exactly what it's like!!! Lidl - Grocery Near Me - Augusta, Georgia

The parking lot is full of loose carts and is not well lit especially on the right side where all the handicapped parking is located. The store is laid out well. Very similarly to Aldi it has a large number of items that come and are shortly replaced by a new item. The bakery area has been almost completely sold out both times I have gone but their price tags show really cheap prices. The produce section has been fairly empty relative to the floor space it takes up. So much so I have had to make supplemental Kroger runs for things like lettuce. The meat and cheese section appears to be disorganized but I have a feeling it is done on purpose to manipulate your buying choices like similar types of hard cheeses are spread throughout the section with varying prices and sizes so you can't comparison shop. There are some neat items like ibérico ham that you don't typically see in Augusta. Most of the store brands are exactly the same as what you have been getting at Aldi just with the Aldi in house label and prices are the same. The canned goods are a huge value and high quality. A number of items are organic or filler/gmo free or made with real sugar and no preservatives at really low prices which is nice. That being said a number of things are inline with the old adage "you get what you pay for" and they are cheaper but clearly lacking and the only choice at the store. Over all a very mixed bag and I will probably just go back to Aldi so my car doesn't get dinged by a cart and I don't bust my face in the dark walking to and from my car since it's effectively the same items at the same prices. read more

I decided to shop at Lidl for the first time because I needed a few recipe ingredients I've only been able to find at European markets and I didn't know where else to go. Well they didn't have anything I was looking for or at least a substitute. I walked around to see if something interesting caught my eye - nothing in particular. I don't even remember seeing many German staples. So what did they have there? On a grocery list of about 20 items I found maybe 3 of them that I could have just gotten at Publix anyways. They also charge you for grocery bags. Probably the most damning thing is that there is no deli or butcher which makes it like a Trader Joe's I guess but more limited. Maybe the prices are cheaper, I don't know, I'm not the type of dude to compare prices then make 2 trips to save $1 on a sack of potatoes. I am at a loss to understand what this place has to offer and why the other reviews are so great. read more

I had never been to a Lidl location before this one or even knew they existed, but I am a fan of the Aldi chain and loved this similar store immediately. Staff is always friendly, they have amazing deals on meats and frozen foods, and the produce always looks great(though sometimes the selection is a little limited). My method is to come here first and get as many staples and oddball quality items for mega cheap as I can and then fill in any holes at a larger chain store. There are also lots of fun things to check out like pastries and seasonal items. If you wanted to plan an unusual meal every week just based on interesting things that are stocked, you absolutely could. Great for staples and surprises alike. read more
