So, I decided to give this Fresh Market another try and I regretted. On 3-12-26, I visited this Fresh Market location and was disappointed to find that the price at checkout was higher than the price advertised on the shelf. When I asked Mary (cashier) and Chris (mgr.) about the discrepancy, I was met with poor attitudes and irritation. Initially they both declined to honor the posted price, but, after verifying the advertised price twice Chris, reluctantly adjusted the price to reflect the advertised price. This interaction was both embarrassing and unacceptable. I reached out to Fresh Market and requested a written explanation for the pricing error and poor treatment I received and, an apology. I never received the written explanation or apology, instead, I received a call from Kevin (str. mgr.) stating, "hey sorry about that, next time you're in fresh market I would like to meet you and have coffee". Georgia law requires retailers to charge the lower advertised price, so this was surprising, embarrassing and frustrating as a customer. I hope management reviews their pricing practices to ensure accuracy and compliance going forward. I will be very happy to see this location close permanently. I do not recommend. read more

It's sometimes easy to overlook or forget about fresh market but I've had some good finds there from interesting sodas and canned coffee to dumplings and meatballs in the freezer section. I found a particular pasta i had been looking for at multiple stores and online and the price was reasonable. The ready made meals has a good selection. And the bakery section always has me making a 2nd trip around. They have $5 sushi on Thursday (most other stores I think does it on Wednesday). The thing about Fresh Market is when I come for vegetables, and the peppers are all kind of wrinkled and don't look good, seeing the word "fresh" everywhere doesn't reflect well on them. They have some interesting premium products and some worthy sales, but the actual produce here did not impress me, nor did their selection of alternative milks. Upscale groceries with a wonderful selection of breads and deli foods. The meat/seafood section offers both choice and prime meats, meat ground fresh daily, fresh fish, and excellent service! Handicap accessible, free, convenient parking. This is a small store and not one that I feel is large enough to do a full food shopping at. Selection of goods was great. They appear to have a lot of specialty items that would make shopping here worth it. Meats are $$$ but, they all looked very appealing. Hot food, pre-made food and sushi all looked amazing. I ordered a tiramisu bar cake for birthday here over the summer and it was delicious. I've been looking around Augusta for somewhere that carries multiple flavors of macarons that aren't disappointing. I got a few here - coffee, red velvet and peanut butter&jelly. They all looked very good! The other flavors in the case at the time were pistachio and vanilla. COVID Update: If you're not wanting to go in, you can order through Instacart. I received my order within 2 hours and didn't have to make contact with anyone. They always have fresh produce and meats. I was able to get short ribs, chicken, Brussels sprouts and a few other items I specifically wanted from here. OK, this place ain't the cheapest to shop in; however, whatever prepared foods we have bought here to take back home to eat is arguably some of the tastiest whatever it is we've bought and worth what we paid. Excellent: ribs, roast pork, rosemary chicken, slaws, salads, pies, muffins, roasted potatoes, pot roast, CRAB CAKES!!! Their crab cakes are flippin' awesome. When you try to buy products that are made properly and food that is grown naturally, you can sometimes find yourself with a challenge. There are plenty of products, but if you want to see them in person first and if you want multiple items, you may feel the only choice is to visit multiple grocery stores. That's where Fresh Market comes in. Granted it is a touch off the beaten path, but a couple of extra turns off Washington Road and you'll be there shortly. If you've been to one, you've been this one. The layout is the usual template; bakery, sushi, cafe, HBA (health and beauty aids). The team here is very helpful and friendly and the produce I have purchased here is top notch. Also, if you walk to the back by the diary section you will find a discounted section. *Insider's Tip -Their website has recipes (which of course you can make with ingredients from their stores) as well as a list of daily and weekly specials. It is worth checking out. -To my knowledge, it is the only place in the area one can find find Virgil's Cola. You can get other Virgil's products elsewhere, but not the Cola. Not as outrageously expensive as the reviews suggest. Whole Foods is just down the street, and while WF beat TFM in a few categories, TFM is generally cheaper. Gallon of apple cider: $3 at TFM; same brand at WF for $4. Cheese approximately 5% cheaper for the same quantity/brand at TFM vs. WF. Lots of good samples out when I visited right before Christmas. Selection is a little limited, yes, and WF does offer more variety than this place. However, this place has lots of charm, good produce selection, lots of "healthy" junk food options. Service was also very helpful and friendly. Verdict: I like this place. I would come back here the next time I'm in the area. read more

This location is amazing! I love all the smells when you first walk in, it smells like happiness, joy and probably a hint of world peace. The Fresh Market is a visually stimulating store, there are so many things to look at that you can't find everywhere else and there are so many colors. It might be a bit weird that I appreciate that about this company but I'm not concerned. Generally Fresh Market is a pricey store to shop from, we don't get the majority of our groceries here, but they have great sales on meat (chicken and beef) on Tuesdays. Someone from our house is there at some point most Tuesdays simply because of that! The staff can sometimes feel short, not rude but not super friendly either. They always seem a bit rushed. I've never lived near or shopped in a Trader Joes so there is nothing to compare it to other than the handful of times I've been to Earthfare. Ok, last time I visited, I had a great experience. I even published a review. However, today I was definitely disappointed. I went to the seafood counter because I heard they had wild caught mussels. I arrived and I asked for 2.5 pounds fresh mussels. When they were given to me....he did not weed thru the bad mussels and just weighed and packaged them up. Usually I just blow that off but then he handed them to me with no ice...what the heck?! Then I asked for the ice.. which was good, then when I get home..at least a pound of mussels were bad! I was so disappointed since this place has great produce and the " go to " place for gourmet things. This place is terribly overpriced for what they're offering. It feels like a gourmet market on steroids with a produce section attached. They do offer a nice wide selection of fresh veggies and fruits if you can't hit up the farmers market but they do mark up their prices a little bit. I find myself spending about 30% more on weekly groceries and you'll seldom find a sale on fun snack foods like cheese crackers or tortilla chips. I suppose that could be a good thing but dammit, when I need a junk food fix I shouldn't be charged $5 for a 3 oz. box! I've had the joy of living in town with 2 Trader Joe's and a Foodstuff so I've been exposed to the gambit and this place just doesn't compare. I'm rather upset that I didn't discover this earlier, but it has filled the void in my shopping bag that was left by the closing of a certain other store. Fresh Market is small but it has a very good selection. I'm really pleased that I have finally found a good place to buy dried chilis and dried mushrooms. I can also grab some yummy olives while I'm here, or any sort of prepared food. I like their beer selection and the ability to make my own six pack from a variety of beers. Their produce is always good. I hate to go into a store and see bad produce, but they keep theirs nice. The only thing I really think of as a negative is that they sometimes tend to get crowded and the lines can get bad, because they are sometimes seemingly a bit understaffed. It's understandable, though. All in all Fresh Market has become one of my new favorite places to shop! read more

Difficult to describe this place. It's definitely an upscale grocery store, so don't expect Walmart prices, although some stuff is very good value. Pros: - great selection on fresh vegetables, organic/natural foods, great butcher, and a huge variety of pre-cooked meats, pastas, sandwiches, and other foods. - it's also very clean and neat, and has starbuck-esque lighting which makes it very relaxing to shop here. Updated Review: I was really displeased with my last visit. I went mid afternoon on a Tuesday. The men's restroom was a wreck, full trash can, puddles of pee on the floor, poop smeared on the toilet, along with the graffiti etched on the mirror. The ice downed islands in the vegetable section were sparsely filled if they were filled at all. The meat section was horrendous. The chicken breasts were swimming in a tray of chicken goo/juice that was sloshing and spilling over when they would grab a breast out. There appeared to be some sort of a leak from the case because they had a tray of meat removed and liquid was dripping from a channel at the top of the case on to the area where they pulled the tray and then would splash towards the meat in the opposing trays. The ground pork sausage was down to just the head and they had two ground beef types in the case. One was mostly grey/white from all the fat or age and the other was a lean one with almost no fat at all at a substantially higher price. Next the fresh sausages; two trays had freezer burn style ice on the sausages and one of the others looked slimy on the casings. The steaks looked great ($$$$ so they should) but that was the only thing that looked good in the case. Next I stopped at the pastry case where the two employees continued to talk and never acknowledged me. They both kept glancing over at me but wouldn't break their conversation to ask if I need something out of the less than half filled case. Of which some of the "in store decorated" items they actually had, like eclairs, were sloppy to a fault. There is a blonde woman that works in that section who is always helpful and when she's there the case always is stocked but I didn't see her on this trip. The non refrigerated case was in even worse shape than the refrigerated one. There have been a few hit or miss trips but this was terrible and I will try the competition a few times if I ever go to this location again. Maybe the manager was out or something but it was not to the normal TFM standard other locations are held. Best thing about this trip was the super friendly employee that checked me out with my bottle of water and jar of mustard (I can't get here unless I order it) as opposed to the bundle of money I normally give them each week. read more

Went back today specifically to buy a panini for lunch. Got the same lady as last time. asked for it heated. It went away to be heated. I wasn't sure on the price as amongst all the deli pricing I could not see the pricing for the panini's. The lady priced it as a chicken salad ?!! I did however tell her about that and she said it was the same price - no big deal. I didn't push it any further but I couldn't help but wonder if it was actually cheaper than that but I think the last panini I bought there was on sale - so who knows? Got the food back to the office and it was stone cold. Now last time it was very hot too hot to eat straight away, so not sure what happened but it feel like it had been heated.
