Trust your gut!! I had always told myself that if you ever go to a bbq spot, one of the requirements before entering is that you should smell BBQ smoke. We weren't expecting the inside to be so big, let alone the HUGE outdoor covered patio with lots of TVs! Everyone working was friendly and we got seated promptly outside. I got the chocolate orange espresso martini and my husband got the cinnamon maple old fashion. The espresso martini was to die for. One of the best I've had. Not overly sweet but was so delusions with the orange and chocolate. A match made in heaven. The old fashion was ok, needed a little more cinnamon and one big ice cube instead of a bunch of small ones. (He's picky with his old fashions) We decided to split a 2 meat and 2 sides plate. We got the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was tender and seasoned well, nice and Smokey. Pulled pork was ok, some pieces were a little dry. The beans were really good as well, great bbq flavor. The hostesses were super welcoming, but the bartender (believe he said his name was Ryan) was the real MVP. Our group was about to order a bunch of combo plates when he convinced us to go with a tray instead, and he loaded us up with killer sides and sauces he recommended. He even gave us a rundown of local craft beers and broke down the regional BBQ styles with us all being from out of town. My food was done in like 10 minutes. I got a brisket some sweet potatoes and baked beans now the brisket and sweet potatoes were amazing. The baked beans were my a little bit above average. The second she sat it on the table flies came from nowhere. Not one or two flies....A SWARM of them. By the time she returned with our food order I commented on the amount of flies and she says "yes we have a horrible fly problem out here and we cant get rid of them". If my grandson hadn't been having so much fun swatting the flies and shooing them from our food I would have demanded we be moved inside. Our party of three ordered the smoked and fried ribs. They were delicious. The mac and cheese had been made with too much flour/corn starch and it was thick and pasty. The greens had a heavy vinegar taste. Not bad but if you don't like vinegary taste you'll probably want to avoid these. There is soooo much meat on the baby board 3-4 people could have enjoyed it with drinks. I will say my favorite thing on there was the pulled pork and chicken. The sweet potato soufflé was great. There was not one bite without flavor. I will say I would have given 5 stars except they ran out of the ribs but we got double wings instead. I had an outstanding first visit to Fifth and Fire. Arrived and was greeted warmly then seated immediately at a high top. I arrived a little before 6 PM and an hour or so later, it was packed including several large parties. My server was Rylande. He made the visit count at every turn. Great menu feedback, very personable and prompt as well. I would absolutely request him again on future visits. I asked for several sauce sample and ordered six wings to test the sauces. The wings were incredible and Hollar Sauce, The Hollar Sauce with Honey and The Alabama White BBQ all shined on the chicken. After that, ordered a puled pork sandwich, tossed the bun aside and ate the pork with the Carolina BBQ and some of the Classic and Sweet heat. Came here before going to a show at the Miller Theater on Saturday night and was sat right away. Hosts were friendly. Most of the indoor seating are high tops. Our server was Tony/Anthony and he was great! Gave good recommendations. Now the most important part of the review: the food! To start us off, we ordered the cheddar cornbread muffins with drizzle of hot honey. Between the two of us we split it, but definitely would not get if you are in a large group. It is a little over $5 for the "one bite" muffins. For the entree, we ordered the 3 meat plate + 2 sides. If you want brisket or smoked ribs it is $5 EXTRA for EACH time you want it. We got all brisket, $15 up-charge. I don't totally agree with that pricing when it's not like the portions are a huge amount, 6 slices of brisket in total. Our server recommended the sweet potato casserole, he mentioned that it is like a dessert, and I would agree. It was definitely delicious, but we could not finish it. We also got fries as the other side, it came in this cute metal fry basket. But unfortunately, I was not really impressed with the portion size of this either. While I am glad that we did come to check out this new restaurant, we won't be running back anytime soon. read more

Averaging out my 2 trips (to date). First was an evening play with a group of 6 of us. The table got the big board and loaded sausage queso. 3 of us got alcoholic drinks, and one Coke. We actually got our food before our drinks (water had already been at the table, yay) and then had to wait for sauces that accompanied the meats. Our server was very nice but she kept saying "sorry" a lot and I wanted to tell her to stop, that she didn't have to. Anyway, the table didn't like the Mac and cheese so much, and the collective thought everything needed more salt. (The pickle martini did not). I thought the brisket was pretty good, and unfortunately they were out of pulled pork so we couldn't try it. The second trip was for lunch. I'd seen the pulled pork sandwich special so decided to give it a go. It does not come with a side, but you can order one (and this costs less than the actual sandwich/side on the menu). I'm unsure if the sandwich is the same size, but it had a healthy amount of meat on it. I got the Alabama sauce as well as the house. The Alabama is a white sauce and quite tangy. I dipped my fries in it. The house BBQ had good flavor- I put it on my sandwich. I really enjoyed the lunch and thought it was filling. I didn't have to wait long, either. I'd come back- I didn't make it outside but hear they have a great outdoor space. The beams and the space are beautiful and quite open. Good addition to downtown. read more

Thoroughly impressed is how this review starts! Finally trekked out to try what we've heard lots about and we both left with full and happy bellies. The atmosphere was very swanky and open which made it feel more than just a usual BBQ joint. The service was great! Shocked we didn't have a wait despite it being a Friday Night. We started with fried pickles that came with an Alabama White Sauce, now I'm not sure what the Alabama sauce is but it was delectable. I had the queso blanco chicken sandwich with a side of Mac n cheese. This hit the spot as the chicken was perfectly fried and the peppery queso with bacon made it delicious. The brisket tacos however were mouthwatering amazing, the brisket was perfectly soft with the pairing of sauce and cheese made it just what was needed! My family and I were here to celebrate my Mother's Day in Laws birthday. They even gave her a gift card to come back. The food was plentiful. The prices for the shareable plate was reasonable. The food itself bland. I think we all agreed the sweet potato soufflé was probably the most flavorful. I ordered the brisket tacos 10/10 which were delicious I got potato salad as the side. The potato salad 0/10 don't recommend. I poured the honey holler which was sweet and had a kick the regular holler hot sauce was good too with an even bigger KICK lol. All sauces are made in house. The hubby got brisket and pulled chicken. He enjoyed the brisket and said the pulled chicken was a little dry. He had Mac n cheese and collards as a side both very delicious the greens are on the vinegar side more than sweet side. I would come back. He also ordered the maple bacon old fashioned which was also delicious. I tried both meats by them selves and they stand alone on their own with each bite. NOW the sauces!!! Oh, MY. There must be 7 different house made sauces made fresh weekly! Choices from creamy to mild to medium to spicy and they have a vinegar sauce! I LOVED every single one! Even the habanero was nicely spicy hot... ask on request. NOW the sides are usually afterthoughts at most bbq places...not here.. the Mac n cheese was al dente elbow noodles with nice spoonfuls of melted creamy cheddar through out and on top. The potato salad was so different and unique- nice bites of perfect boiled red potatoes with red pepper onions and some fine seed mustard ! The ham ? collards were perfectly cooked and silky with a nice balance of acid to make delectable bites! They also have sides of sliced kosher pickles (not made in house but delish sour crunchy) and housemaid red onion vinegar side! My ONLY issue was the "Hawaiian sweet roll". We had a party of 6 and shared a few appetizers (pimento cheese dip and nachos) and they were delicious! We ordered the small board and a 6 piece of roasted wings and it was enough food for 4-6 people. We tried all the sauces, which were all amazing. The grainy mustard sauce was my favorite. I want to be up front and share that this visit occurred on their first official day being open. As such, experiences can vary during the initial weeks any business (but especially food & beverage related) is open. I arrived about a hour after they had opened and found a few guests were already inside (some at tables, others at the bar). I was immediately impressed with the decor and ambiance. I knew their menu was barbecue centric and I had wondered how they planned to focus the interior (as it is a historic space). But I must admit, they did it up right! The wood roofing and long beams across the ceiling, the lights, the cow print chairs. They went all in and I'm here for it. They brought out paper menus, but also shared that we could scan the QR Code on the table to order (and that those orders came out quicker as they went immediately to the kitchen staff). I know not everyone is a fan of QR Codes, but I will say this is one way to ensure your order is exactly how you want it and that you can pay at any point (no looking for wait staff, asking for the check, getting the check, waiting for them to pick it up, then waiting for them to bring your receipt and card back). I went with my barbecue go-to for first visits, pulled pork sandwich. It comes with a side so I did baked beans then added a side of coleslaw. While waiting on the order, which wasn't long, I did a walk around. I wanted to see their outside space and the barn space (event venue). They have plenty of seating! The outdoor space is between the two buildings, covered, and has large ceiling fans. I hope to sit out there on my next visit. The barn venue space feels literally like a large barn. Keep that in mind when you have a future event. When the orders came out I knew this was going to be a meal to enjoy. The mound of meat and fresh bun were just calling for the coleslaw and sweet heat sauce (you get to choose) on the side. And those beans, I know this sounds like a small thing but I promise it is not. Anyone who can cook baked beans with perfect texture, flavor, and moisture knows a thing or two about all things barbecue. Some of the friendliest staff you will encounter downtown. I got their corn bread muffins and a plate combo with the pulled chicken, mac and cheese, and sweet potato casserole. Food came out very quickly as well! I probably wouldn't reorder the sweet potato casserole, it was a bit too mushy for me, but the mac and cheese was fine. The server brought out about 7 different sauces for the chicken for me to try and their house BBQ and the honey hollar/regular hollar were my favorite!
