Here you will find plenty of deals and bulk of good quality cuts of meats. They have pre selected packages that you can order from or you can order a la carte style and stock as many pounds of wings as you want. The bone in Ribeye and the Peppered Bacon are my guilty pleasures! That peppered bacon is about $12 per lb but OMG is it worth every penny! I let my wife know "this is my bacon, not a sharing bacon. However, if you want some bacon I'll buy you a pound that we can share" i think thats a fair thought!! read more

Great no frills butcher store on Walton way. This place has a great variety of cuts ranging from giant t bone steaks to different pork cuts and even quail and alligator meat. I stopped here on a Wednesday to get their $1 off all beef cuts and got two ribeyes for 7.99 per pound. Grade-wise it has to be at least a choice cut and when comparing to Costco, it is almost half the cost. The steaks were A-ok with a quick pan sear on both sides and for the cost it's hard to beat. I'll definitely return to try some if their other items like lamb/goat or for a reliable beef steak any day of the week. Fantastic small business and butcher, I came here to get a châteaubriand, a center cut beef tenderloin, to make a beef Wellington. The place was super busy, but they kept the line moving quick and were still helpful. They have a massive selection of meat and other items. I've been here a few times now and it's really hit or miss. The steaks you get here for $5.99 are thin and pretty much what my friend Patrick calls "mystery meat." My husband found it really difficult to eat due to the gristle and lack of marbling. I ordered 5 lbs. of thin sliced ribeye for sandwiches and waited a good long time watching the chaos around the counters. People weave in and out and practically elbow each other instead of using a number system. They offer a lot of bulk sales but be careful 'cause you don't know what you're really walking out with. My 5 lbs. of ribeye were more like bottom round roast. They wrap their meat in white butcher paper and cut it in the back so you really can't inspect what they've got. I still come by for alligator tails but I won't be coming back for beef anymore. read more

We bought 2 packs of pork neck bones and 2 packs of ham hocks and that will be the last of what we buy from Lanier's. We got the neck bones to make stock and everything seemed ok. We went on to use the ham hocks to make some beans and just threw them in. Then before we went to make our collards we notice/smelled an issue. The pack we just opened smelled very strong of a perfumed cleaning solution. We went to the beans that had been cooking for a while and you guessed it; we got a perfumed smell coming off of the beans. We pulled the hock and gave it a taste and after the taste, everything went in the trash. Its obvious the meat was soaked in some sort of cleaner. I don't know if its something they put on the meat on purpose or its something they clean their equipment with and somehow cross contaminated but there is no way it should be there. read more

I've been twice and both times I've received exceptional service and meat. The first time I got brisket. The marbling on brisket flats is usually spotty and most of the time when bought from supermarkets, the fat cap is not very thick nor very present. This flat was great. Marbling was present and the fat cap was great. Thoroughly enjoyed smoking it and it turned out really well. The second time I got a pork belly for homemade bacon. The belly had plenty of actual meat with just the right amount of fat. The bacon turned out exceptionally well. All in all, this place is great. Not what I expected. New to Augusta but the place wasn't as selective with its meats as I thought it might be. One small display counter with fresh cut meat but the Bison I requested came frozen. If I wanted ground lamb I had to give notice - they would thaw the lamb debone, grind the meat and I'd have it within 48 hours after I placed the order. Frozen items were frog legs and ample veggies. Veggie prices are good with most packages in pound size. Not a very versatile place for the person wanting special fresh, ready to cook meats quickly. Beef yes. Other options less. read more

Disgusted!!! Purchased ground pork yesterday. Went to use it today. Smelled a bit off. Broke off a chunk, and it was dark grey inside. Didn't keep the receipt, didn't think that I would need it. Lesson learned. Never buy ground pork from Lanier's again!! What is that smell? It smelled so awful inside that I almost went immediately back out. The floors are filthy as are the areas wherr the meat is sold. Most of the clientele were shopping on their ebt. I didn't see much about the quality that I was expecting. Steaks were cut too thin for what they are supposed to be. Just overall disappointed. We ordered what should be a very lean cut of meat with little to no fat. When we got home it was full of fat so we called and spoke to the owner. Apparently the excuse is that they had to add fat in order to push it thru the grinder? If that was going to be needed, I feel they should have told us that up front. I've been shopping here for about 6 months now. I'm an army wife on a fixed budget. When I first started shopping here, we would buy the bundle packages of meat. The hamburger meat wasn't "lean", but I wasn't expecting the best with the bundle. I would say it rated at first 80% lean. Now, it's gotten fattier. The taste is fine, as long as we drain. The family steaks are very tough. So I now try to avoid them if possible. I usually substitute chicken for the family steaks. But, as of lately, the chicken has had a very rotten smell. I asked about it and let the older cashier know we got sick, I was treated as if I was trying to scam them and sent over to the ladies behind the counter. The lady said, " we haven't had any other complaints. Are you sure it was bad? Cuz the blood sometimes smells that way.", so we've decided to stay clear of chicken as well. I was told that if it happens again, I can bring the chicken back. Their pork chops are great as long as you dont get the prepackaged. Again as of lately, they've been cutting the chops thin and odd cuts. When I finally get everything home and repackaged for each meal, having to go back to the store ( I live in Grovetown ), It's become more of a hassle. The frozen vegitable packages are great, as well as their jarred preserves and Jams. I will be going back for those. But I've become very discouraged after 6 months of keep trying and changing my order. I'd rather spend the extra money on what I know wont be bad. One of the best prime rib roasts I've ever bought - I bought here. It was perfect. When I buy a bone-in pork roast and ask them to crack the ribs...they know what I'm talking about. I love their sales. Not to mention their BACON!! All my friends ask me to buy them bacon when I am in Augusta and bring it back to Aiken. I have had a pleasant experience in my dealings with Lanier's. I have been getting my meat especially ribeye steaks from Lanier's for the past few months. Prices are great and i have found the meat quality to be good as well. The store is clean and staff are helpful. I see that the owner responds to most of the posts - so i have a question/request. I am increasingly concerned with getting hold of beef, lamb and chicken that is antibiotic free and added hormone free - grass fed a plus - am guessing your meat does not fall in this category as i don't see any signs or labeling to this effect - is that right?
