The cheapest organic brown rice cakes lightly salted: good.
    GT M.

Rating: 4.5/5. Organic raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, avocados, apples, guacamole, Fit & Active lightly salted brown rice cakes, non-GMO Simply Nature Edamame spaghetti, excellent pesto, innovative and varied product selection, healthy options, friendly staff, fast check-out, etc...Are you at Trader's Joe? In fact, you are visiting their sister division focused on quality at unbeatable prices (i.e.: Aldi special finds, etc). Both grocery stores belong to a German multinational. The produce section had a great selection of fresh produce, including organic options. The private brand products with the double guarantee will get reimbursed and replaced if you were unsatisfied. This grocery store has a less sophisticated offer for frozen products and dried fruits than Trader's Joe. I removed 0.5 point as I would still have to do a second stop at another grocery store to get all the products I have grown accustomed to.... You will need to bring your own bags here. The parking lot was large and well-lit. The Aldi was across a Golden Corral and near a gas station.

First time shopper of Aldi. My mom has nothing but good things to say about this place. I thought I would check it out. Aldi- short for Albrecht Discount, is a global discount supermarket chain based in Germany. It specialises in staple items, such as food, beverages, toilet paper, sanitary articles, and other inexpensive household items. Many of its products are own brands, with the number of other brands usually limited to a maximum of two for a given item. Great wine selection which range from $2.89 on up. I love their produce section, very fresh and cheap. I was able to get avocados for $.79 a piece and butternut squash for only $1.99. They also sell healthy products for people who are trying to watch what they eat (from veggie chips to Turkey sausages, health bars, etc) Basically it's the size of a publix or krogers minus the deli/meat/seafood section. If you want a shopping cart, it's $.25 but when you return it back in the front of the store and lock it, you get your quarter back. Also at checkout plastic bags are $.10 a piece. Feel free to bring your own recycling bags. I was very pleased with this grocery store and the pricing. Very clean including the restrooms. I am from Cincinnati and there is one in my area and will definitely return.

A great place to shop if you are looking for reasonable prices. The cashier was polite.

If you don't want to go to Evans, there is one on Broad St. across from the Kroc Center. I usually park there, it's after 5:30 and skip across the grass. Remember to bring some reusable bags to get your stuff! Meanwhile, I tried that "green store that takes much of your paycheck" and found it to be seriously disappointing! I mean let's get serious here... level 1 meats are about the same as any other grocery and NOT why I'd pay so much more. I was so excited to find this website locallygrown.net which has locations all over (so I'm totally saving it in case I move again). The "store" opens online on Friday with how much of what is available from real local farms and artisans. You scoop up the goodies and pay to make sure you get that last share of jalapeños... then pick it all up on Tuesday night. They have veg, fruit, all kinds of meats, dairy, flowers, herbs, candles, soaps, baked goods... etc. Go, have a look! You can chose from grass fed, organic, pasture raised... all of the things I adore. I found the size of share and freshness to be very good. Make sure you check everything and don't leave without some greens... like I did. Everything seems to last so much longer because it's fresh! I wish I had found this years ago...

Orders are placed every Friday at noon thru Sunday at 8pm. Buyers have two locations in Augusta to pick up - Evans Town Center or West End bakery in the old Harrisburg community of Augusta. We haven't really been to a grocery store since beginning with ALG back in June. We order fresh milk, pasture raised eggs; grass fed beef and pork; vegetables galore from farmers who have now become acquainted with me. I support the local farmers, eat well and all at a modest cost. Once you start with ALG you'll always wonder why you spent your hard earned money at the chain stores. Buyers also get to know their farmers and the farmers are always eager to answer your questions about how they farm organic, etc. I buy all of my meats for the month and re-stock the milk, eggs and veggies weekly. Always something great to prepare for meals!

The prices are definitely steep, even in comparison to somewhere like Publix. Whilst in the store, I saw several shady individuals smoking inside with backpacks on. Yet management didn't do anything about them. The second I exited the store I felt like I was going to get mugged. Some other shady individuals (whose pants were sagging) all were conjugating outside the entrance. One of them said to me, "Who you looking at N-slur." Another one asked, "What you have in the (grocery) bag N-slur" When I got to my car one of them was walking towards my car. Now I don't know if he was going to do anything, but the whole thing felt extremely sketchy. I wouldn't want to come back to the store unless they had some sort of security to keep thugs and rift-raft out. Because unless you want to be mugged, shopping here isn't a great investment!
