This place is run by children. We have been coming for years for their St Patrick's Day music... until now. We arranged a whole family event and called to make sure of the time the restaurant opened. The girl answering the phone gave us the wrong hour and we showed up 30 Prior to the opening, however they had been open for 30 Minutes already. No tables and had to cancel our whole event. Celebration dinner with my Mom who is moving away from South Jersey after living here for the past 60 years. We could think of no better way to send her off than to treat her to one last dinner at the Library IV. 5:45 reservation. Arrived at 5:40. We were seated Immediately. Wonderful waiter Rocco was quickly at our tableside to take our drink orders. We all had steak & salad bar. Salad bar offers a wide variety of scrumptious edibles. I had seconds with a plate piled up with just blue cheese and sharp cheddar. Both Filet Mignon and Ribeye cuts were PERFECTLY cooked to a pink, medium rare. It was a quiet, relaxing dinner with delicious food and outstanding service. We had chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert. AMAZING. We have also had similar experiences at the Library II. Saturday night dinner reservation for 6:15 pm at this location in Williamstown NJ - it's my first time at this establishment and my date highly recommended the prime rib (he's had it before and was looking forward to it). We were seated on time and after ordering drinks and our dinner - it was very packed in the house, so I will say the arrival of our meal was longer than I thought it should've been. Prime Rib (the extra cut) medium well with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus -- absolutely no taste for that piece of meat was over done and tough (very chewy) there was no meat juice when it was cut. I hope it was a mistake pickup and drop off- we didn't want to make a big deal out of it so when asked by our nice waitress we told her just that it was tough and overdone. She asked if we wanted another but the ambiance of having this dinner was now gone and we just ate the cold and tasteless French fries and the cold asparagus. I had the honey salmon, it was mediocre again not the food that we expected for this establishment. Our bill at $98.96 we drank two ginger-ales - thank goodness we didn't have alcohol. We will not repeat this visit, unfortunately. We have hope that we will find a place to have a tasty prime rib dinner soon! read more

We'll start off with the good. the atmosphere is very nice. It's quiet and romantic setting. The salad bar and service was very good Now the bad..LOL.. The price is friggen insane for the quality of meat. If I'm paying $30 bucks of a 12oz sirloin make it taste good. both our steaks were bland and at least cut our bake potatos open. I can get the same steal at Texas Roadhouse for $13 and I hate to say it but taste a whole lot better. My review is just on the steak. I wanted to try their rack of lamb. We had gotten a gift certificate for the Library IV in Williamstown. After reading some of the reviews, we were hesitant to go there. We were pleasantly surprised. Our waitress Evelyn came to our table very quickly and was very attentive the whole time we were there. She told us the specials right away and gave us some recommendations. . After the salad bar, which was very good, our chicken marsala and chicken piccata were given to us very quickly and were very tasty. Again, our waitress had a great attitude and was very friendly and efficient. I took the key lime pie home as I wanted to enjoy it later that night and I was full from the salad bar and entree. I'm surprised at the reviews- we've been going here for our anniversary for years. I've never had a disappointing meal! I normally get the filet (always great) but I'm pregnant. Rather than get a well done steak (ew) I opted for the crab stuffed salmon. Great choice if you don't like red meat! I love the salad bar too. I mean it's not Chima's salad bar but still great. Their potato salad is so yummy, and I love the different breads and cheese! Last night the owner Brian recognized my last name from my reservation and asked if we were related to someone (ended up being my husband's father who passed away years ago) and he said such nice things about him, and remembered very specific details, like his favorite beer! It was such a wonderful little conversation and it made my husband happy. Yes it's pricey but it's a steakhouse! We come here for special occasions so it's worth it for us. read more

We made reservations for Valentine's Day after receiving a gift card. Of course the wait to order at the chef's counter was longer than usual being a Friday night and a holiday but we didn't mind. Excellent salad bar, our appetizer of bbq bacon wrapped shrimp was beyond our expectations. Our crab cake, lobster tail and steaks were are cooked perfectly and excellent. Service was exceptional especially for a holiday. We will definitely be back! read more

I have been to this place a handful of times, since I've lived in Sicklerville....about 16 years. It seems like it has gotten progressively worse each time, with the last time I will ever go being last Saturday 8.31.19. I have to say nothing was good. My rib eye was a cut of meat, not even as good as a supermarket would sell....undercooked too. The tasteless side of mushrooms weren't cooked all the way and they had no juice at all....just whatever moisture was stuck to them. My friend had undercooked salmon and the glaze was served in a side cup, not cooked with the salmon....what's the point? We high-tailed it outta in record time. I will say the waitress was a sweetheart (forgot her name) she was very pleasant from the start and after, I think she could tell how unhappy we were and was being as helpful as possible. read more

The Library is an excellent place to get a nice steak and/or seafood dish. The atmosphere is great, old books all over the walls, making you feel like you just stepped into a secret book club. Ordering is interesting, and slightly confusing for first timers. After you are seated, you're handed a slip to take up to the ordering window. You must then make your way up to the window where the guy in the kitchen will write down your order. There's a huge menu on the wall to make your decision with. (mostly seafood and steak...all american favorites). Once you've ordered, you may then indulge yourself with a long salad bar full of cold yummy stuff...kudos to the salad plates in ice!...and end it with a nice assortment of breads. My appetizer of potato skins was not all that fancy, but good. Our entrees were delicious, however, something should be said about their presentation, or the lackthereof. I could tell this restaurant has been around for a few decades, and it appears that their plates and silverware have been too. I've had nicer, whiter looking plates at TGI Fridays. I understand the whole point to the vintage feel, so how's about a vintage price on that steak then? My waitress was something you'd see in a diner. I dont normally judge people by how they look, but she acted that way too. When asked for a SoCo with lime, she replied "Oh, people dont normally get that with lime." when asked for an appletini, she replied "Oh, that doesnt come by the glass..." She was super inattentive and needed an attitude adjustment. Last but not least, dessert was great. Wine list was small, not a whole lot of options for white wines by the glass. (I know, I know...I drink white wine with steak...I'll take a slap on the wrist for bad taste) They do offer mixed drinks as well, which is a plus. It's with a heavy heart that I write this review, because I used to really enjoy going out to the Library to eat. But that was many years ago, and the years have not been kind to this restaurant. This was a birthday dinner for my husband, and we were excited to go. First of all, the wait staff does not take your food order. As a matter of fact, there are no menus (except for drinks and desserts). You must walk down, past the salad bar, and read the menu & specials off the wall. This makes for a clogged up area, as people who may be unfamiliar with the menu have to take their time deciding. In retrospect, we should have looked up the menu on our phones and sat, in comfort, at our table, while we made our decisions. We all got the salad bar which was OK. But not terrific. Cole slaw, long, stringy and had no tang. Just kind of blah. Bread was nice. For appetizers, my family ordered mussels in red sauce, which arrived lukewarm. The sauce was not seasoned well, and the mussels were quite small. My appetizer was mushrooms stuffed with crab. Mushrooms were mushy. Crab was fresh and very nice. Dinner: My husband ordered a steak, and commented that me could make steaks better at home. I got chicken oscar (chicken with hollandaise, crab meat and mushrooms) Mushrooms were canned. Chicken was mush. Hollandaise was ok, but needed a bit more lemon and spice. Crab meat, as mentioned before, was fresh and lovely. For dessert, we shared peanut butter & chocolate pie, which was quite nice, except for the unfortunate hershey's syrup that was underneath the slice. Really detracted from the dessert. Overall, for the prices, I found this mediocre. I truly hope someone from the restaurant sees this review and takes the time to correct these problems. Eh, this place is mediocre at best. The concept is suppose to be cool but isn't executed as well as you'd think. The place is decent since it's in the a rural area and not much else is around. I really don't believe there's any point to the way the ordering system is done. Your waiter takes your drinks and then you take a piece of paper on your table to an ordering window and the menu is written on the wall. If it's suppose to be a novelty it's a bad one. We used to eat here 5-6 times a year at least, starting 10 years ago when I met my husband (it was our "visiting Dad" go-to); my father-in-law brought his sons here regularly for decades. It was THE place to go. Now we might go twice a year at most. It's sad to see how the quality has dipped while the prices have skyrocketed. My husband always orders his beef medium-rare now vs medium because it's normally overcooked, so he knows he's more likely to have it turn out right this way. The last few times my father-in-law ordered prime rib it was ridiculously fatty - much more so than usual. Salad bar needs updated, point blank. Yes, there's something to be said for continuity...but come on. Add a new topping, maybe. Keep it cleaner. Use ripe tomatoes vs the pale, tasteless ones I always skip over. We're in NJ for heaven's sake. We have good tomatoes. I almost always get seafood, either salmon or crab cakes, and I'm generally pleased. But it's just so.darn.expensive. We wince when the bill comes and always comment on how much cheaper, and often better quality, the food is at our favorite places. If we can go to a Center City restaurant voted one of the city's Top 50 and have multiple drinks, several small plates, entrees, cappuccino and desserts for less than drinks, entrees and desserts at the Library, it seems like a real waste. read more

Had the chicken Oscar and it was absolutely terrible. It was supposed to have Hollandaise sauce but what it came out was a thin liquid that was sour. It was like the chicken was in a soup. The waitress said that's what it looks like. I've personally never have seen hollandaise that looked like that. The only good thing was that since I did not like it, they did take it off the bill. We dined there last evening, and usually go maybe once a month. I enjoy the food there. However this time I wasn't pleased with the stuffed mushrooms, with is usually my favorite appetizer. The chef was a bit lazy with the preparation. It was just lump crabmeat on top of the mushrooms, no seasonings , no imperial sauce at all. What a disappointment. My entree' was delicious as always. The restaurant decor is New England & food is hearty, plentiful and drinks are on point! After being seated, they give you a paper to go to order your meal. This is cute and you get to choose the type, style and sides as you want. The bar area is fun and a great handout spot in Williamstown, NJ. The appetizers are a great price and are plentiful. Probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Great food, awesome service and a nice atmosphere. The bar is always great with, once again, awesome service. I recommend this place to anyone looking for a good meal locally. From the salad bar to the sandwiches to the amazing steaks, food is great. I cannot emphasize that enough! Vi is the BEST bartender, there on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and some Saturdays, she makes coming into the Library an even better experience. She's extremely personable and everyone loves her. I definitely recommend sitting at the bar on a night she is working. Little known fact: if you sit at the bar, or the small lounge area by the bar, you do not have to go to the kitchen window to order, if that's not your 'thing.' I love how their decor has real bookshelves with old books and beautiful land turns. I also like how the menu is on a wall and you have to read it from that and the chef takes your order. The food was so delicious and they have the best salad bar. You also get your own bread and you can slice your own bread and cheese for your bread. I feel so sad to see what has become of this place. I had an obligatory invite for Mother's Day Brunch for my mother. I could not decline. The food was worse than I could imagine. It looked like jail slop. Not that I have ever been in a jail , but I have read about it. Let me start with the best part. The pineapple. I had a huge platter of that to start. I couldn't stomach much else. There was a tray of some unknown shoe leather in white canned cream sauce, cooked scrambled eggs, peppers and onions with grease, potatoes with more grease , cold bacon , sausage that Bob Evans pre cooked puts to shame and little pre frozen white mini bagels that looked like tasteless card board frisbees and little muffins that were freezer burned. I was informed that each person was also entitled to order either French toast , waffles, eggs Benedict or prime rib. I instinctively declined any more food from this place. However, I saw did witness my siblings trying to cut the overcooked prime rib, watched my niece's face frown in disappointment at the 1/8 inch thick Wonder Bread French toast . When I saw the Eggs Benedict come out I kept thinking how can they serve this fatty goopy slop ? Then my Dad had his waffles served. LEGGO my EGGO! Those frozen waffles put the Library frozen waffles to shame. Bottom line, on Holidays, beware of brunches for the masses. For the same amount of money , we could have ordered an amazing bagel tray with meat, fish, fruit , real bakery items and most of all FRESH. By the way, our server was lovely. Food is okay for what it is but small portions. If it's not steak don't expect to get a huge meal. My favorite thing was the salad bar and how can you mess that up?? For those prices they should be waiters taking my order and not have us go order at the window like a food truck. I really don't care to see a sweaty cook come up to me wiping his sweaty face off to take my order. Plus we were sitting next to books that are so caked with dust I was afraid to bang into them for fear it would be everywhere. You may have driven by the Library IV on your way back from the shore. You probably didn't notice. But actually this easily overlooked spot serves as a neighborhood pub & restaurant for the Williamstown area. The bar area is especially welcoming with very friendly bartenders and an easy-to-talk-across bar...and live music on the weekends. Everyone seems to know each other or soon will after one drink. The food doesn't quite live up to the friendliness of this place although you can find something for your tastes. The mussels in white sauce were enjoyable as was the shrimp cocktail. The calamari could have been crisper with a more flavorful sauce. The salad bar is an attraction here. It's fairly standard but you can still make a salad you will find pleasing ... and you can add on bread, cheese & crackers, as well as some fruit. All in all, the Library IV can be a warm place to spend an evening in when you're in South Jersey! read more

We tried this place as our introduction to the "finer dining" of the Williamstown area. After all, it had decent reviews, and with four locations, they must be doing something right, right? I'm not sure what it could be. Right off the bat, I ordered one of their special cocktails. It arrived and was completely undrinkable. The menu said Hendrick's gin - I don't know what bathtub hooch they'd substituted in that night, but it bore as much resemblance to Hendrick's as gasoline. I asked the waitress about it and she just shrugged. Ooooookaaaaay..... I gave up and resigned myself to drinking water. Onwards to the food. We walked over to the window for the steaks and weren't terribly impressed with the price/value for the cuts, but figured we'd give them the benefit of the doubt if they were good. I decided to be a little adventurous and got the rack of lamb; my fiancé got the filet. On the way back to our table, we passed the Applebee's-esque salad bar. I skipped more than one container of veggies there because it didn't have a utensil, had obviously wilted veggies, or had had the neighboring containers heavily spilled into it. (Thank you, but no, I don't need thousand-island dressing in my macaroni salad.) When the meals showed up, my fiancé's filet was bady overcooked - charred on the outside and grey in the middle, not medium rare at all. My lamb was worse, impressively worse. Rack of lamb with mint jelly is Cooking 101 - and has been since the 70's, which might be when it was put on the menu here. This lamb was shrunken, overdone, chewy, and extremely salty. (Even more of a problem due to the drink situation, since my water glass was empty before the food arrived and never did get refilled despite requests.) The radioactive-green mint jelly had obviously come from a can or jar, as it still bore the cylindrical shape of that container despite being lazily chopped at a couple of times to try and disguise that fact. After the cocktail thing, we figured mentioning anything to the waitress would get is nowhere. I never did get a refill on my water and was reduced to frantically stealing my fiancé's. (So much salt!) The bill, when it finally came, was borderline outrageous for two people with no dessert and it still featured the Jail Cell Trash Bag Special cocktail.
