Went for a celebratory dinner. Haven't been there in a couple of decades in spite of this being literally 2 minutes from our home. Seated promptly. Dinner menu and specials menu looked promising. The place is still dark, but it adds to the inside ambiance. Kayleigh was our server. She was attentive without being over bearing. Drinks were ordered and delivered. DH had his usual vodka tonic and I ordered my classic Old Fashioned with Makers Mark. Points off for the way it was made. Many small ice chips, a macerated piece of orange and a macerated whole maraschino cherry, complete with stem. I fished out the chips and put them on my small bread plate. Didn't discover the stem until deep into the drink. (I prefer the classic recipe using a large ice cube, a Luxardo cherry, and a slice of orange peel) Salad bar was well stocked. Hard pass on the lettuce because of the recent cyclospora scare, but we found other items. Potato salad, macaroni salad, hard boiled egg, chick peas, sliced beets, pineapple, cheese cubes, various breads Dinner was delicious. I ordered the Tips and Tails. It was steak tips, lobster tail and two fried large shrimp, a huge baked potato. DH had the stuffed salmon and asparagus also with the baked potato Lots of leftovers. We went to the Library IV for a quiet Father's Day dinner and were not disappointed! From the moment we sat down, our waitress, Donna was attentive and helpful. After a review of the menu and placing our orders, We started our dinner with a trip to the wonderful salad bar. We returned to the table to find our drinks and glasses of ice water awaiting us. We both had ordered filet mignon with butterfly shrimp and were not disappointed at the meal. The meat was cooked to perfection and melted in our mouths. We made a bad choice to come in for Father's Day dinner with a reservation for 5. After about a half hour and watching all other parties get seated, even without reservations, I asked how long it would be. The hostesses were kind and said they were waiting for a table to turn over, which I understand. They were apologetic. The manager, however, was a huge prick, not apologetic at all and said "if tables don't turn over, there's nothing we can do." He never apologized for the wait, and was extremely rude and nasty to myself and my elderly father. I will never go here again read more

I have been to this establishment many times, and the food has been perfect every time. Last two times I ordered the T-bone steak special medium rare Pittsburgh, (crusty on the outside), and this is a cut not recommended to be cooked that way because the meat on both sides of the bone cook unevenly, but every time I've ordered a steak this way they've nailed it. I absolutely love their salad bar of baby spinach and chopped romaine, and plethora of vegetables and cheeses that are offered with entrees. Haven't been to this place in a while. It's known for steak, they should know to cook a steak right? Wrong. My first steak came out rare, I ordered it medium. Chris, our waiter said he would ask them to cook it longer, I suggested a new steak since I had already cut into it in two places to check doneness. He had them make another one. It's been many years since I've been to this location, and I left tonight's dinner pleasantly surprised. I was surprised because I enjoyed the food. I was surprised because, in my opinion, the food was high quality and reasonably priced. The parking lot was packed when we arrived at 6:15 p.m. for our 6:30 p.m. reservation for six. We we're happily greeted by the hostess and sat immediately, zero wait time. The interior is cozy, not very big, but they do not have the tables close together, so you do not feel like you're being packed in on top of the other customers. All entrées come with their salad bar. For me, it's been many years since I've been to a restaurant that had what I consider a "classic 80's/90's" salad bar. True to the description on their menu, every on the salad bar was fresh. The lettuce was crunchy and firm, and there were many of the classic toppings such as whole hard-boiled eggs, beets, chopped olives, pasta salad, potatoe salad, and more. Five out or party of 6 ordered drinks from the bar prior to selecting our entrées. We had a total of 4 steaks, 1 order of pork chops, and 1 order of Bar-B-Q ribs. I ordered a 16oz Ribeye medium temperature, Oscar Style. I enjoyed every bite, my steak was cooked perfectly, the Crab meat was plentiful and fresh, and the hollandaise sauce was tasty. Everyone else told me they were very satisfied with their meals, no complaints just complements about their dinners. I ordered cheesecake and one of their specialty coffees for dessert. Others at my table ordered peanut butter pie and creme brule. My cheesecake was not homemade. I could tell it was from a box by they way it was cut, the taste, and the texture. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't order it again. I got favorable reviews about the other dessert orders and those of us that ordered coffee we were satisfied. Our waiter was professional and knowledgeable about the items on the menu. He wasn't overly friendly or talkative, but for me, that's not a necessity. As I said earlier, we were sat at 6:15 p.m. and our meal was concluded at 8:30 p.m. I was happy about the total length of our dining experience because it was a night out with old friends, and he had ample time to talk. Came in for dinner on Saturday evening. We made a last minute reservation for 4 without a problem. We were seated immediately upon entering and our server Eileen was so nice and prompt. Our glasses were never empty and she was quick to take our orders. We all had entrees which included the salad bar. This was definitely the best salad bar I've seen in a while. They have a ton of toppings available and several varieties of bread. The macaroni salad was so good. It wasn't too wet and had all of the basic macaroni salad ingredients you'd typically expect. I had the 12oz NY strip steak medium rare with a baked potato. The steak was tender, juicy, and cooked perfectly. The baked potato, unfortunately, was so dry and miserable. The butter, salt, or sour cream couldn't save it. My friend had the king crab legs that were on special that night and said they were ok, but definitely not the best she's had. She thought they were a little overcooked. Her husband had the extra cut of prime rib and garlic mashed potatoes. He also said it was pretty good, but not amazing. Salad bar was great - love that they have one and the choices were those we were hoping to have. Pricing was very reasonable, in our opinion. It would be nice to have a higher level touches such as table clothes, cloth napkins, etc. but the trade-off would be higher prices so really can't complain about that. I have loved the Library since I was a little girl. My aunt used to take me here and I thought we were rich selecting top cuts of beef and lobster. The good news is not much has changed and the bad news is.... Not much has changed. I love the nostalgic feel but in a restaurant it begins to feel old, dank, dingy, musty, etc. its giving Addams family vibes. They need to update the location without losing its essence. Like dust the bookshelves and books. Aside from that, the selection of your proteins is gone and that was a big part of the experience. Went downhill. Server is trash as I'm sitting here I have seen her twice. Asked if we wanted drinks, I said water for me and she just left and came back with all waters didn't ask anyone else what they wanted. So fine we'll just have waters I guess. Asked is we wanted apps to start but didn't go over specials so when I asked about the specials when she came back 15 minutes later and wanted the app special she said it was too late to cancel the other one ooookay. Then she disappeared for another 20 min so I asked the server assistant to get her. I watched this kid do 4 laps around the whole place to find her when he finally comes back saying he has no idea where she went. She then finally comes back and tells us one of the entree specials is out.... THIRTY MINUTES after we ordered. We've been here an hour as I'm writing this and I've only seen her 3 times and still no entrees. The Onion soup tastes burnt, clams casino has dried up bits of clam that shriveled up during cooking with lots of stuffing filler. Wait I lied entrees hit the table just now....from another server and the star of this place, the server assistant I think his name was Chris. Prime rib is bland and no one asked or brought anything for the baked potato. I mean I know this is a independent semi franchise but DAMN. Go to the other library branches. DEFINITELY NOT THIS ONE. This place used to be great. The only reason they got a star was because the Stefano still tastes decent but is not near the size or quality it once was. They are known as a steaks house but honestly their steaks suck. Tasteless and obviously underweight. The one landmark redeeming quality was the once epic salad bar, now whittled down to some sad excuse for a Sizzler salad bar. Brian the owner has gone cheap and cut back on everything. One of our favorite meals in this area! Always great service with fresh, delicious meals. Tonight, the bone in pork chop was done perfectly. What a great flavor and temperature! The peppers on the side really accent the meet. Also, the salmon - honey glaze- is delightful and always a treat. Made a last minute reservation on New Years Day. Hostess that answered was very friendly said it would be no problem to get us in at 5:30. When we showed up the crew at the podium up front were super friendly. We were seated and after ordering drinks hit the amazing salad bar. Gloves were available for use at the salad bar. Food was amazing. Cooked to perfection. Only thing that wasn't top notch was the server didn't tell us the specials before we ordered our meals. This place is run by children. We have been coming for years for their St Patrick's Day music... until now. We arranged a whole family event and called to make sure of the time the restaurant opened. The girl answering the phone gave us the wrong hour and we showed up 30 Prior to the opening, however they had been open for 30 Minutes already. No tables and had to cancel our whole event. Today was our first time at this restaurant. Usually when we are in town, we take a drive over to Philadelphia and eat at my favorite spot but today we did not have time. So, my father-n-law suggested this restaurant and said he liked the food. He usually knows what he is talking about and his wife co-signed. So, we went. First off upon arriving, there was a guy there at the door and he was very friendly. He is the only reason I gave them a second star. He greeted us all. He was on the heavy side but he had a warm welcome. Then we were seated. However, I started to smell something. I do not think they have their carpets cleaned because there was a stench in the place. The waitress came over and suggested a drink. She took our orders and told us what we are to do. So, we walked over to the counter and ordered our food. I had crab cakes and lobster and crab bisque. Then we grabbed a salad. The salad was just mediocre. The salad station appeared a bit messy. People eat with their eyes, so that station should always be right. Once we were seated she brought our drinks. I looked in my drink because something was there. It was a fucking roach! A baby roach! She apologized and took it away. However, I was pretty much done after that. Once our food arrived, I picked at my bisque. The taste was off for me. Ended up giving it to my father-n-law. Then our main course showed up, and my crab cakes were just bland. I have had much better. I was not impressed! I ordered a sprite because my stomach felt like I wanted to vomit. I also could not take a chance with a Coke because I was afraid I may have a roach floating. So, needless to say we skipped dessert and came home. Wonderful waiter Rocco was quickly at our tableside to take our drink orders. We all had steak & salad bar. Salad bar offers a wide variety of scrumptious edibles. I had seconds with a plate piled up with just blue cheese and sharp cheddar. Both Filet Mignon and Ribeye cuts were PERFECTLY cooked to a pink, medium rare. It was a quiet, relaxing dinner with delicious food and outstanding service. We had chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert. AMAZING. We have also had similar experiences at the Library II.
