I love everything I've tried at Liberty Diner. The portions on everything are huge. I eat pretty healthy most of the time. Their Mediterranean salad is the best salad in Fort Wayne. If I didn't live on the other side of town, I'd get this salad a few times a week. I usually get it with their Mediterranean dressing, but sometimes I get it with their Caesar dressing. Either way, it's an amazing salad. Their avgolemono soup is incredible. I always get a bowl of it because it's a large serving and my intention is to save half for later. Never happens. I eat it all in one sitting because it's so damn good. I've only had breakfast there once, but it was perfect. Their croissant sandwiches are wonderful. Fresh, large and tasty. I took my niece there when she spent the night a few weeks back. She's 6, and oddly, she didn't want chicken tenders that night. She wanted spaghetti. She's a kid, so I knew she would be too picky. But, I'm picky about my Italian food, and the spaghetti was very good. The Mediterranean Chicken - BOOM - very satisfying. Comfort food like mama used to make. Oh, and the Mediterranean roasted potatoes - an addiction! After all that goodness, the reason I'm only giving them 4 stars is because 2x I've ordered carry out, the meat wasn't cooked all the way through. One time while working nearby, the roasted chicken was very raw on the inside. Luckily, we were able to microwave it to finish cooking it. The other time, 2 hamburgers ordered for 2 kids, were very pink on the inside. We weren't in a place where we could finish cooking it, so it was an expensive waste of money. Still, one of my favorite places to eat. In fact, after writing all this, I'm pretty sure that's where I'm eating lunch tomorrow. The owner is great to chat with. He always remembers his regulars. One night, I ordered carry out for 2 of us, and it was almost closing time. Maybe he just didn't want to throw out excess, or he was just being nice, but he actually gave us extra servings of the soup and roasted potatoes. One of the servers who has been there for a couple years is also very cool to chat with. She's friendly, happy and kinda funny. This place is really a Fort Wayne gem! read more

This place has always been a favorite of mine in my hometown. The little Greek/Macedonian mom and pop restaurants in this area are known for their very reasonable prices and crazy large portions-and this is one of the best. Their Avgo Lemono soup is unrivaled. It's creamy, very slight lemon flavor and filling. Not to mention mouthwrwatering and delicious. I grabbed a BLT and a cup of soup and my brother got the bowl of soup. He only ate a little bit of his soup and I finished the rest-I was so full and happy If you are in the area-check this place out! Stopped in while in town visiting family that recently moved to the area. The menu has something for everyone! Our party consisted of 4 adults and 4 children (under 1 - 14) and everyone left content. They have outstanding Greek fare and the homemade lemon chicken rice soup was the best we have ever had! I'm kinda surprised no one has written a review yet...but notttt really. The location is good, right off the freeway and by a ton of motels and a stripclub. I would definitely not recommend making a pit stop here unless your a truck driver. The food was mediocre. I got the crunchy french toast, which was very plain and tasted like I was eating plain fresh toast with few cereal pieces. I knew I should've gone with my gut instincts and just get what I ALWAYS get, eggs, potatoes, and toast..well...lesson learned. My parents got a breakfast scramble quesadilla that was surprisingly tasty with the side of salsa it comes with. To me, eggs and quesadilla sounds like an oxy-moron...and shouldn't be put together, but it was good. It also came with a variety of fruits that was ok. read more

Really this restaurant is a hidden gem, a local treasure. The owner George is exceptionally kind, always has been. I look forward to seeing him when I visit, and the few time he isn't at the restaurant I'm always bummed to have missed him. The food portions are epic here, the quality of food is very good. The meat loaf is something special, thinly sliced and delicious as all get out!! The Greek lemon chicken rice soup is the most delicious recipe I've ever tasted, can't go wrong with a cup of it; I order the large bowl it's a meal in itself. Most servers have been there for years it's nice to see familiar faces. It has a home town vibe. Never once have I ever not been welcomed ever so kindly by all at this place. The menu is gargantuan, breakfast choices all day long. It has a vintage diner vibe that you don't get anymore these places are few and far between these days reminds me of when I was a kid growing up in the 1980s. The nicest owners the nicest staff I would go to this place if it had bad food thankfully their food is excellent! See you guys soon friends!! The menu is huge and everything we ordered was delicious. My son got breakfast and said the hash browns were the best he's had. My chicken souvlaki was a giant portion and had a delicious seasoning. Pat had a veggie omelette from the breakfast specials menu. I had the Eggs Benedict -- eggs perfectly medium! Home Fries. Yum! Service is top notch. A great reason to come back to Fort Wayne again soon. Only critique I could offer is that the gyro meat appears to be the preformed slices, based on pictures others have shared. If they had the real deal beef/lamb slow cooked on a traditional vertical broiler rotisserie (Autodoner, etc.), I definitely would have gotten a Gyro omelette. I am a serious Gyro gourmet -- possibly my favorite food. Still, I understand it would be a hassle and extra cost, and they have such a big menu to support. Must say..still the best breakfast in town..also the best country fried steak in town hands down! My husband and I go here for brunch on Sundays. Yes it's a little busy. But it doesn't bother me. We had heard that this roadside diner had a bit of a seedy reputation, but we really wanted milkshakes... the late morning breakfast was decent enough-- the frittata was a little bit salty, and the pancakes were nice and fluffy. The milkshakes were ok, but they don't really have "any flavor you want," only those that can be made with a chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla base with whatever they can find to throw into it. It was a very soft texture, not textured like whitefish. I assessed it to be pollock. Pollack is without flavor. I only received one piece of fish. I noticed another review says they received 3 pieces. I thought it was unusual to only get 1 piece for fish and chips. I wondered if the kitchen ran out. Never had that in my life. It's a corner location so access is better than I expected. Manager host was most friendly & professional. I don't know why they charge to pour a glass of beer on the receipt. We stopped in the diner on the way home from my grandmother's funeral. She raised us on Greek food so we loved how many Mediterranean options the Liberty had, in addition to favorites like all day breakfast. Service was quick and friendly. Our kids loved the pancakes and the portions are large for the price. The chicken souvlaki was amazing and included their famous lemon rice soup. As we left we mentioned to the owner how we were Macedonian and loved the soup, which was like our family used to make. He gave us some for free to take home! I am more than positive my steak that was 18.99 was microwaved. Apparently the American food here is a no go. I was told after the fact that I should only order Greek from here. I've had the lemon rice chicken soup, and it is very good. Have a look at their blue-plate daily specials. Last week, I wanted to try the Hungarian Goulash, but they RAN OUT!! The waitress said it's very popular. I had the veal parmigiana instead...it was served on a bed of linguine and spaghetti sauce, covered with melted mozzarella. It was very good. For lunch, I've had the bagel with lox (it also had capers on it...those little pickled things). Very good! One more thing...they have free WiFi!!! Use their password: libdiner to get access. Poor service, worse food. 1 star... I have always been a little leery of restaurants with overly confident (aka lengthy) menus. It is rare that: (1) they have all of the fresh ingredients to make every option; and (2) that the chef knows how to make every dish. Liberty Diner did nothing to lightened my distrust of lengthy menus. I should have read the Yelp reviews before I got there, or had the wisdom to ask the waitress to order for me. At the very least she would have known what the chef made often. Instead, I went for something I thought was a sure thing - biscuits and gravy, two over-easy eggs, and bacon. Even mediocre B&G is a good thing... After waiting 20 minutes for my food to arrive without any glimpse of the waitress in the interim, I was brought what looked remarkably like a plate of food. Ravenous, I shoved a giant bite of steaming B&G in my mouth to discover that they must make their version of the American classic with rancid buttermilk. Yay! I did eat the eggs, despite being hard fried, and the bacon. The bacon was decent. Last but not least... When checking out I ordered a slice of Boston cream pie to go. I looked at it and pointed it out to the young lady at the cash register. When I opened it up back at the motel... coconut cream pie! When I fly back home, this is the first place that my family and I go to for a reunion lunch. The menu is huge - so massive that it gives you anything that you are in the mood for (except Mexican). The French onion soup is one of the best deals around, with not too much cheese and very crusty bread. The blue plate specials are also a really good deal, with lots of room for choices. The dinning room is very spacious, allowing even a large group to find room on a whim. During the warm months, there is outdoor seating for smokers. The only bad thing about Liberty Diner are the locations around it. For many years, this exit has been strip club heaven for Fort Wayne. If seeing that sort of thing bothers you, then you might want to stay away. You can't really see any of them while you are inside though. read more
