As soon as i took the first bite of my biscuits and gravy i knew i had to leave a review. This is my first time ever trying Libelula after wanting to try it for forever and i was craving somthing filling. This is so freaking good the gravy is creamy and delicious and the biscuits are soft and golden toasted. Iwill absolutely be coming back .
Libelula nailed it. I went with the orange chicken sandwich and tots, and both were ridiculously good, crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent without feeling heavy. The sandwich had that perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and the tots were golden and addictive. The outdoor seating is a huge plus too, comfortable, relaxed, and a great spot to just hang out and enjoy your food. On top of that, the service was genuinely friendly and welcoming, which always makes the experience that much better. I'll definitely be back.
We went in with our dog and sat outside. Staff were very friendly brought the dog water and put up an umbrella for us since it was sunny. I ordered the chicken biscuit with a side of gravy. The upcharge 4 dollars for a small side of gravy was a bit much and that meal was maybe like a 6-7/10. My boyfriend got a double smash and that thing was delicious and the strange bread was also good we would for sure get that again 10/10. We had a nice time and we will for sure be back to try more the bacon Apple sandwich is calling my name.
Had a really neat experience trying this spot out on a recent trip to Fresno. Food was great - we both got the smash burger and added a second patty and bacon. The tots were delicious, homemade ketchup paired perfectly. The burger as a double was a good size for me! Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance was unique - check out the photos for decorations. The person who joined me comes here every couple of months and said everything is delicious. Hope to try another item from the menu if in town again. Note - they had street parking and a parking lot you can pay to access across the street.
I came back and was pleasantly surprised by the food I tried this time around. I ordered the smash burger and it was delicious!!! I ate that thing up so quick! It was a good mix of sweet and savory. Sweet from the maple bun I believe and savory from the beef patty and melted cheese. It was chef's kiss!! It was served with a side of tater tots which were super crispy and fried to perfection. I still unfortunately do not like the house made ketchup. It tastes like marinara to me. I'm not a fan of that taste with the tots (personal preference). The service could also be improved. I understand it's one person serving, hosting, and running food but the place is on the smaller side. Not sure if having an additional server or host would help with the service. It took more than 10 minutes to get our bill and we were already finished with our food and packed up to go just waiting for the server who was busy running around trying to serve others. Overall, I'd have to say this place redeemed itself in my book. And I would say just be careful about what you order. The food options are a fusion and if you end up ordering something you don't like, you'd have a bad experience. My first time here, I didn't like what I ordered but this time around, the item I ordered was delicious. I did order a burger which in my book taste good pretty much anywhere I go. IMO, it's not that hard to mess up a burger. In the future if I come here again, I'd probably stick to the non-fusion dishes. If you haven't tried this place, I still do recommend it. It's a local joint, farm to table concept, and pretty good depending on what you get.
I've lived in Fresno my whole life and have been meaning to try Libélula forever, but I finally was able to recently, and it was fantastic! We got two chicken sandwiches, and they were packed with meat and flavor. The romesco chicken sandwich was nice and fresh, and the pickle chicken sandwich was also flavorful. We also got the chili mac and cheese (not pictured), and that was SOOO good. Would come back for that alone. As for the service--it was great! I think our server's name was Kim. She was so sweet and helpful with the menu and the wait time. In general, she was just very friendly and inviting. The restaurant itself is small but cute and very decorated. I would come back!
3 years later, service was still the same and food even better than I remembered! I love how everything has just so much heart poured into it, and you can tell the HOMEMADE vibe is taken seriously. I really appreciate this establishment!
I have been coming here since quarantine and their food is delicious every time! It's a gem in our downtown. The food changes with the seasons, so things do go away and come back. There is also a baker attached to them!
Hands down the best french toast I've ever had. I scarfed it down in 10 minutes. The service was great (quick) and appreciate the recs from the server. She would check in from time to time (so attentive!). Don't be fooled by the exterior - it may look like it's at a bad part of town, but once you walk in, you'd be shocked with the execution if their meals. I'd love to come back to try something else on their menu. It's very diverse and creative in what they can pull off (some are asian inspired).
I been wanting to try this place cus the menu looks good. First of all, parking sucks! Not only is the parking across the street, you have to pay with the meter since this place is located downtown. Parking meter takes tap now but sometimes it gives me a hard time. I had to try three times until it accepted. Had to park a lil far cus most of the closer parking was took. Walking in, we were greeted with a smile from the lady. The inside is cute, it has some old pictures of how downtown Fresno used to look., they got some art on the wall. Gave me a hipster feel to it.. we told the lady we was taking it to go and she gave us a menu. I was lowkey bummed out cus the menu pictures on Yelp looks like they had way more on their menu. We went in the morning so I'm not sure if it was a breakfast brunch menu or if that was just it.. took me a while to finally decide because I wasn't really interested in some of the stuff on that particular menu. I ended up going with the mushroom toast. The lady came to check on us and informed us they also had some specials on the board. My bf went with one of the burrito specials. I don't remember what it's called but it had cheese curds in it. Food came out nice and hot. Got home and ate. The toast for me was hard to cut into for some reason.. but the mushroom mix with the crème fraiche tasted good. The eggs were cooked perfectly. My bf enjoyed his burrito. I had a bite and thought it was good too. The service was nice but I wish I could've went in there with a more wider selection on the menu but like I said, maybe it was a breakfast brunch menu? Idk.
Got there Saturday morning at about 10:30 and had a choice of tables for 5. Nice start. Our group had two Big Dill sandwiches, a Falafel Smash Burger, and Mushroom Noods. I'm on a low sodium diet so avoided a lot on the menu, and went with the Strawberry Stuffed French Toast and had a fried egg on the side. Mine was fabulous. I didn't taste the others, but everyone loved their choices. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was a perfect funky. The bakery goods were delicious as well.
Brunch on a weekday and it was as good as I remember. They still have the korma sauce and charge $4 as a side but ngl... I'm not even mad about it. It's savory, delicious and similar to an Indian curry. I ate it with tots. I also ordered the veg Benedict. After I ate my meal, I realized I may have gotten this same order the last time I was here. Muscle memory, perhaps? Amazing both times. Service was friendly, great and fast. Bathroom has downtown homeless vibes, but I'm not even bothered with how memorable the food is. Take my money!

Amazing menu, even if tater tots appear to be the anchoring item, flavors are unique, excellent presentation and location was super convenient off the freeway! Again, another Jem found utilizing Yelp. On adventure out of our area we took to recommendation for a good breakfast... and it was a sweet surprise. Restaurant small yet cozy with eclectic design. We arrived right before it became very busy. My husband enjoyed this soy burrito and requested we return again soon. The squash toast sounded delicious and it was. I did noticed there wasn't any mint as it was on the menu as ingredients. I asked about it and they said they were out. Mint is one my favorite herbs so I was looking forward to it. I was disappointed I missed out , but it was still very good. We will definitely return. read more

We love going to this place to eat. The service is always impecable. The food is to die for. We always try something different and it never disappoints. The rice dish I had exploded with flavor, the veggies were crunchy and the egg added that extra touch. My husband also loved his breakfast sandwich. The atmosphere is laid back and it's a great place to relax and enjoy a fantastic meal indoors or their outside patio. read more

I enjoy taking friends and family to this little gem, when they come to town. It's really special. Get over the location. It's next to the Crest Historic Theater (which is showing old movies on the weekends btw). There's rich history and architecture in downtown Fresno....Libelula is like a little funky, diner you'd find in the bay. Ok, so the menu is always filled with a variety of flavor fusions that will keep you coming back. Some of their signature items stay on the menu, but it does change based on what is available and in season. Everything is fresh and made with local ingredients. I'm kinda a simple gal, and I usually order the mushroom toast or the siracha maple, chicken sand and homemade tots. If you're lucky, they have some 'Big A$$' cinnamon rolls available! I've always wanted to try this place. It's always busy when I drive by it. I took my sister for lunch. She is vegetarian so I knew she would be the perfect person to take with me. She had their Benedict which she enjoyed. I ordered their bbq bacon burger. Great flavor. It was huge and fell apart at first bite. I enjoy that they are constantly changing the menu when the seasons change. Always gives you something new to try. read more

Food was great, I wish the guy that brought out my food wouldn't have been holding the plate with his thumb inside my salad. Service was alright, the female server didn't check up on us until she brought the bill. Prices are reasonable. The ambience was a vibe, very aesthetic. read more

My colleague and I had heard good things about this place and were a little let down so my review may be based on it being overhyped. We enjoyed our meal and the unique vibe of the restaurant but I probably wouldn't return. Simply because it isn't my vibe and the food is so abstract that you either love it or you don't. So glad to find this eclectic gem! Seems like it's literally a hole in the wall. With local artists on display it's quite the quaint little place. Several different gluten free options either naturally gf or can easily be made gf. Server was helpful and kind. I was excited when she said "Excellent choose" to my selection of the bulgogi mushroom tacos. And they did not disappoint. Everyone else enjoyed their meal too. Our table ordered Big A$$ Burrito, Chicken Cesear burrito, Benedict with pork and the Bulgogi mushroom tacos. Only the tacos were gluten free but I've attached a highlighted menu of the gf options. It was a scorcher outside and a bit warm inside but worth the stop. Would gladly stop again. read more

Have been wanting to come here for years, finally made it over and so happy I did. Such a unique unique vibe. Decor is quirky & cute, I found myself just scanning the interior over and over. Way fun! Tables/chairs are nothing special but they don't even need to be. Food was great, I did the siracha maple chicken sandwich-cam sworn tots, such a nice surprise! Sandwich was so yum, this was on their autumn menu which I believe switches up seasonally, so glad I was able to give it a try. Service was amazing, our pink haired waitress was on it, so friendly and helpful! Would recommend to anyone in Fresno or visiting if you're in the mood for something different! ***one thing to keep in mind, they close pretty early, 7 pm & this was on a Friday night. Saint Joaquin is down the street if you're looking to still chill, great spot too! read more

My family and I stumbled across this interesting restaurant on Yelp while driving through Fresno. We wanted to stop by for a nice lunch/ brunch on a Saturday at 1pm, and this place seemed to have a great range of options on their menu. Upon arriving, we parked on First street in a metered spot right around the corner from the restaurant. Walking up to the restaurant we noticed Salty Bitch Bakery next door and the restaurant with several tables and chairs right on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. It was a gloomy day, so we decided to sit inside. The inside was decorated with many unique pieces of art. They ranged from colorful to a little creepy. The dining area was small, with really high ceilings. It looked clean and the tables and chairs were made from wood, making the place feel casual. The food was tasty!! They had a large range of food on their menu. All were delicious, definitely well seasoned, and had their own untraditional flair. The only choice that wasn't favored was the butternut squash salad, the dressing was spicy. The service was attentive. read more

This place was unexpected for the location. Honestly I don't like the location, it is very deserted from other businesses and it looks run down from the outside. But once you enter, it feels like walking into someone's living room. I loved all the art on the wall. The inside is not too big but not too small. Customer service was spot on. The food was exceptional. I felt like I was eating at a high establishment with the attention to detail and the flavors. I would say if you haven't tried this place you should! It has such a big spectrum of food genres and I'm sure they all taste good! read more
There's not too much I can add to what other reviewers have posted. Every time I come here, I try something different, and every time it is fantastic! I promise myself I'm going to get that again next time, but then there's always something new to try, and that is always fantastic too. This time, the three of us had the forbidden rice, vegetarian style, the Sriracha chicken sandwich, and the fried chicken biscuit sandwich. Oh, and we had to order the tots, it's the law. Our friend who is visiting us from Southern California loved the rice. We're lucky that we can come here whenever we want! I know a few folks that are leery about going downtown for anything. Some are even leery about going south of Shaw. They are missing out on some amazing and innovative food. We love Libelula!! read more
This was my 3rd time at Libelula! This hidden gem is a very unique restaurant. Their dishes are one of a kind ingredients. There are gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options. Some of their dishes are seasonal like the lamb ragu w/ polenta. I ordered the lamb ragu and it was a little out of my comfort zone, but I wanted to try it. A dish that stays on the menu is the sriracha maple fried chicken sandwich. There is also a breakfast menu, which their big a** cinnamon rolls are very popular and I'm upset I haven't had one yet. The atmosphere is a good vibe with fun/cool decor, and the service is quick and friendly. You can sit inside and outside. I recommend giving this place a try! read more
Went here for the first time today after hearing about this place from a friend. We ordered the Big A** Breakfast Burrito, Carolina BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Ube French toast and the weekly special, a French Onion Burger to go. The burrito was big as advertised and very delicious ask for the habanero salsa if you like it spicy. The pulled pork was good but I do wish it would've had more sauce to it, I also would've preferred the meat to be shredded, it was cubed. Ube French toast was good but definitely need to add more sweeten condensed milk to it if you prefer it to be sweeter, just ask for more and they will give it to you. French onion burger was very flavorful and I would get that again if I see it on the menu, I only tried it cold off my friend lol overall it's a cute little spot with pretty good food. My only comment on service is I wish the water would've been brought out to us while looking over the menu. Other than that everything was great and I can see myself going back. read more
This is my second time here and I had to get their big ass burrito again. I would say they have one of the best breakfast burritos, super flavorful and the sauce that comes with it is delicious. Pro tip, ask for their habanero salsa to go with the burrito. When coming here I want to try something new every time, this time we ordered the Ube French toast which is great but we had to ask for extra condensed milk for the right amount of sweetness. We also got their pulled pork burger which has a runny egg and other things on it. The sauce on the burger was good but needed a little more, the pork itself wasn't your typical pulled pork it was more like tender pork chunks (carnitas style). The ambiance is nice, filled with pictures to look at and you get kinda lost in the history of the photos. Like punk/rock alternative type of vibe. They have doors that are open to where you can see the chef cooking while you're at your table. As for service, the waitress is really friendly and nice. I would say it gets packed but manageable for 1 person to handle. Upon sitting down we weren't served right away which was fine since we needed extra time to look over the menu. We still didn't get our waters we asked for while still figuring out what to order but it's ok. The cups were a little stained I'm assuming from the tea that's been served in it. Other than that I would say this place is pretty good, menu is very descriptive with their ingredients. It does get pack during lunch! So try coming before 12:30pm. read more
Libelula is a hidden gem! We're so lucky to have Chef Ian and his family pour their heart in crafting creative and memorable dishes. The bahn mi paired perfectly with the tater tots and home made ketchup. I love that they switch up their menu items so you can always experience something new. Libelula breaks the stigma that high quality meals are only reserved for fancy white table clothed places. Even if you're not in the downtown area, it's certainly worth the visit! read more

Stopped on Fresno for lunch and was happy to find this spot. They have a unique take on flavors that was interesting and delicious. The fried green tomatoes were delish- so yum I forgot to take a photo before finishing most! Sriracha Maple Chicken in the background, Summer tomato grilled cheese and crunchy tots in the front and the remaining fried green tomato on the side The service was great- the person helping us had great recommendations and checked on us often. Wow. I wasn't sure what to expect from Libelula. Almost everything is made from scratch and it has amazing flavor. I'd like to start this review by saying the service in here was amazing and the waitress was so kind and attentive! I am giving this place 3 starts because while the ambience and service was so nice the food was just disappointing. It was extremely salty.... The Thai Mac and cheese was nice but somehow lacking in actual flavor, the tater tots were decent but I really disliked that homemade ketchup that was served, the sesame egg noodles were eatable but not necessarily enjoyable, and the burrito was just a mess. Typically I'd say I'm a pretty easy person to please but unfortunately today it's a whole other story. I'd like to come again and maybe try different things because I love to support local eateries. Maybe next time? read more

So glad I found this place. The food is amazing! We came in and got the Indian corn which came on the cob with cojita cheese, cilantro and lime. 4 yummy delicious corn pieces for $10. We also got the burger of the week: a fig and blue cheese burger. It was perfectly juicy with noticeably fresh ingredients. On the side we're crispy, salty, delicious tater tots with a house-made ketchup and chipotle aioli we requested. The ambiance was very relaxed and eclectic. The music was a bit on the louder side for those who prefer a more quite setting. There is a patio with umbrellas for shade on the hotter days as an alternative. Service was great! Our server was very friendly, attentive and really took the time to go over the menu favorites with us. It's also a LGBTQ+ and vegan friendly! We'll be back read more

Coming from a quick trip to Fresno visitor... This is a little hipster diner with a lot of vegan options available located downtown. About 5 tables available outside with about 10 tables inside. The menu is unique and runs the gamut, but think mostly heavier items; def no salads here. We ended up with the mushroom toast with an egg and the lamb sliders. Well the mushroom toast was delightful. Truffley mushrooms with an over easy egg on thin sourdough toast. I think a bit more substantive bread would have even took this up a notch. The lamb sliders at $18 were a bit pricey for what it was. The sliders were fine, but very little lamb and very bready. I probably wouldn't order those again. The tots were crispy and delicious. Overall, my one and only visit would have me return, but I'd probably stick to those breakfast style eats. Bathroom was def a bit rundown and located next to the restaurant, ask for the key. read more
