I will begin by saying that the road work that is being done around the restaurants location is definitely a big inconvenience when it comes to finding parking. However, it is definitely worth it! For a while now I have been wanting to try this place and finally for around to it. The staff was great very kind and friendly as soon as we walked in. Our waitress was amazing, she was always checking up on us, making sure we had everything we needed it and that we were comfortable. I ordered the Fried Chicken Biscuit with Tater tots and for my drink I ordered the OG Lemonade. Starting with the sandwich, the chicken was nice and juicy, very crunchy as well. The flavor of the chicken was very good as well. The buscuit added that nice hint of sweetness that just tied the whole thing together. The tater tots were definitely crunchy, which I loved. They give you a very well serving of tater tots. I did not end up finishing mine, but they had great taste and texture. The lemonade was very refreshing, and it just hit that spot so well. It was appealing to the eye and tasted like freshly squeezed lemonade. Overall experience was 10/10, I would come back. The place gives off vintage coffee shop vibes even though it is not a coffee shop. Seating is definitely very limited inside. However, they do have outdoor tables with umbrellas which is a nice touch. Price-wise I would say it is a bit pricier compared to other similar restaurants I have visited. We stopped in to celebrate a birthday as well as support the business as I know they have been dealing with the negative impacts of street closures. But while the food was delicious as usual, everything else was surprisingly mediocre. Despite not being busy when we arrived, we had to wait over an hour for our food and watched while other couples received theirs and ate before us, despite coming in 15-20 minutes later than us. And even though it all tasted great, my food was cold, as if it had been sitting for a while. We were told a couple of large to-go orders came in that disrupted the timing of our food, but in reality, it seems like our order got lost in the mix. It finally came 70 minutes after we arrived, and I was surprised that when my partner asked for a refill of their tea (which they naturally finished well before our food came), they charged them for a second drink and didn't even offer to comp the refill for the long delay. I don't expect freebies when I go out, but it just seemed like we were more of an inconvenience to them than anything. It's unfortunate because their food is always great and I want to see them continue to succeed, especially during this difficult time with road construction outside. But this was a pretty frustrating experience, and will unfortunately make me hesitant to dine-in again in the near future. read more

Libelula nailed it. I went with the orange chicken sandwich and tots, and both were ridiculously good, crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent without feeling heavy. The sandwich had that perfect balance of sweet and tangy, and the tots were golden and addictive. The outdoor seating is a huge plus too, comfortable, relaxed, and a great spot to just hang out and enjoy your food. Had a really neat experience trying this spot out on a recent trip to Fresno. Food was great - we both got the smash burger and added a second patty and bacon. The tots were delicious, homemade ketchup paired perfectly. The burger as a double was a good size for me! Service was friendly and quick. Ambiance was unique - check out the photos for decorations. I came back and was pleasantly surprised by the food I tried this time around. I ordered the smash burger and it was delicious!!! I ate that thing up so quick! It was a good mix of sweet and savory. Sweet from the maple bun I believe and savory from the beef patty and melted cheese. It was chef's kiss!! It was served with a side of tater tots which were super crispy and fried to perfection. I still unfortunately do not like the house made ketchup. It tastes like marinara to me. I'm not a fan of that taste with the tots (personal preference). The service could also be improved. I understand it's one person serving, hosting, and running food but the place is on the smaller side. Not sure if having an additional server or host would help with the service. It took more than 10 minutes to get our bill and we were already finished with our food and packed up to go just waiting for the server who was busy running around trying to serve others. Overall, I'd have to say this place redeemed itself in my book. And I would say just be careful about what you order. The food options are a fusion and if you end up ordering something you don't like, you'd have a bad experience. My first time here, I didn't like what I ordered but this time around, the item I ordered was delicious. I did order a burger which in my book taste good pretty much anywhere I go. IMO, it's not that hard to mess up a burger. In the future if I come here again, I'd probably stick to the non-fusion dishes. If you haven't tried this place, I still do recommend it. Blink and you miss it! Libelula is tucked away in downtown Fresno and offers unique, but delicious, flavor combos and a punk rock vibe that had me wanting to regrow the mohawk I had in my 20's. I ordered the Big Dill Chicken Sandwich and shared the Spicy Thai Mac and Cheese. The Big Dill sandwich was incredible! A massive thai spiced deep fried chicken breast topped fresh cucumbers, garlic dill tzatziki sauce, and pickles. Eat bite offered deep rich flavors, crunchy textures, and a briny flavor that had me eating faster and faster. The spicy thai mac and cheese was good, but I didn't get much thai flavor or spice. It was still pretty good as just a side of mac n cheese. Their menu is seasonal so double check their instagram for food updates. They offer both a large breakfast and lunch menu, but no dinner options since they close at 2pm or 3pm, depending on the day. I've lived in Fresno my whole life and have been meaning to try Libélula forever, but I finally was able to recently, and it was fantastic! We got two chicken sandwiches, and they were packed with meat and flavor. The romesco chicken sandwich was nice and fresh, and the pickle chicken sandwich was also flavorful. We also got the chili mac and cheese (not pictured), and that was SOOO good. Would come back for that alone. As for the service--it was great! I think our server's name was Kim. I been wanting to try this place cus the menu looks good. First of all, parking sucks! Not only is the parking across the street, you have to pay with the meter since this place is located downtown. Parking meter takes tap now but sometimes it gives me a hard time. I had to try three times until it accepted. Had to park a lil far cus most of the closer parking was took. Walking in, we were greeted with a smile from the lady. The inside is cute, it has some old pictures of how downtown Fresno used to look., they got some art on the wall. Hands down the best french toast I've ever had. I scarfed it down in 10 minutes. The service was great (quick) and appreciate the recs from the server. She would check in from time to time (so attentive!). Don't be fooled by the exterior - it may look like it's at a bad part of town, but once you walk in, you'd be shocked with the execution if their meals. Although this place is a run down and not in the best part of Fresno, I highly recommend the food. As the other reviews said, this is definitely a hole in the wall place. The food was really good and full of flavor. Every item that each of my party ordered was not disappointing at all. This is the second time I've been to Libelula, but the first was when they first opened. I went today with two work friends -- it's a nice place to get some fresh and interesting food downtown. When we went today at 11:39 it was lively but not overcrowded. Service was very friendly and thoughtful -- asking if we wanted ice, straws, extra dipping sauce for our tots etc. It's a casual cute place. We'd been in the office all morning so we chose to sit outside although it got a little hot because all tables were in the direct sun. A few umbrellas would be welcome. I chose the summer tomato grilled cheese. It had great flavor but here's what I wish I knew about it ahead of time -- I wish I knew it came open face and very soggy. I knew the ingredients of course, but I was honestly expecting smaller amounts of tomato, spinach and mushroom and for this to be a true grilled cheese that would hold together ("as a grilled cheese does") and would be simply picked up and eaten. This messy soggy sandwich (which required a knife and fork to navigate) had great flavor -- I want to emphasize it was very delicious and balanced and all the ingredients were fresh and high quality, so bravo to the person who invented the mix of ingredients -- but I wanted some form of a "true" grilled cheese. A sandwich that that holds together, and which you pick up and eat easily and without sloppiness (!) for a casual lunch with work friends: but instead it was a soggy mess and very difficult to eat, especially in front of coworkers while trying to converse. I really wish I'd ordered something else -- not because it didn't taste good -- it did taste good -- but because it wasn't what I was in the mood for: everyone knows what a grilled cheese sandwich is, and this soggy difficult-to-eat (even if very tasty) mess wasn't that. The tots were good and crispy and the homemade ketchup was as I remembered: I'd like a touch more salt but that's such an individual preference. I need more salt like I need a few additional points added to my blood pressure. I'll be back but I might be one of those annoying customers who asks questions of the waiter: "So is this a _true_ grilled cheese, the kind that you can pick up and eat?" "Ma'am it clearly says grilled cheese on the menu. What do you want me to say? Is this a trick?" "Yes noted - it says grilled cheese, but you see I have certain 'expectations' of a sandwich billed as a grilled cheese! Let me tell you all about it..." Five stars all around. This is one of our favorite places to go and we are so glad that they are doing so well. They support artists, downtown fresno, and local farmers. I always tell people it's like a nice metropolitan restaurant decided to relocate to Fresno. Very friendly staff. Can't go wrong with their burger of the week. They always have fresh ingredients. I've been a fairly regular patron of this place for the last several months, mostly for lunch. While I love the food, the vibe, and the owners, the young woman who waits tables is really bad at her job. On multiple occasions she has forgotten to put in my order and has then come back to ask me again what it was I ordered. Today it was about 45 minutes before she realized that I was still sitting there waiting. Granted that it was very busy and the owner warned me up front that it might take some time, but I watched multiple tables who were seated after me get their food. When the server finally realized that I was still waiting, she came over and again asked me what I ordered, then I watched her walk over and talk to the owner, presumably to tell her she didn't put in my order and to put a rush on it. The order came out soon after, but she didn't acknowledge her mistake and that was it for me. If she had at least acknowledged that she forgot to put in my order, I would consider going back, but since she did not, I won't be. read more
