I've been getting acrylic, gel, dip, and hybrid gel since middle school, and at 31, I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I had my natural nails (not great, I know). During my most recent fill, I felt some pain on one finger. That can happen, so I assumed it was just a small cut near the cuticle. But afterward, my entire cuticle and nail bed were visibly swollen. I kept it clean and used Neosporin, but after two weeks it was still irritated. I finally went to the doctor, and she had to put me on oral antibiotics plus a prescription ointment. She told me that if this treatment doesn't work, I may have to have the entire nail removed. I have never experienced anything like this in my life, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. My doctor even said this is exactly why she personally avoids nail salons.

I chose the organic pedicure which is quite expensive but so worth it. There's several tiers and I might try the one down from the organic next but if you want to really get pampered this is the way to go.
