Level Beer has constructed a fantastic indoor/outdoor drinking and dining establishment that is great for drinkers of all ages, whether it be beer, cider, apple juice, or a bowl of water for thirsty puppers. Beer ain't generally my brew, but this venue alone transcends any and all carbonated concerns I might have. Family-friendly, warm and welcoming, the "Level One" location (and seemingly their primary brewery operation) on NE 148th, tucked away in an industrial park surrounded by little else of note, is a surprising hidden oasis, the sort of thing that we sorely need more of in the Parkrose/Argay neighborhoods, perfect for hazy summer days and cool nights under the stars, sipping a tasty beverage, and dining on a variety of cuisine choices from the multiple food carts in their parking lot (including my wife's new favorite, the Shuck Truck oyster cart)! Catering to customers of all types, from Magic the Gathering playing geeks (like me), to parties of (mildly) rowdy drinkers, and welcoming to babies of all types (human or fur), there's no doubt in my mind that myself, my wife, and likely all the kids at some point, will stop in frequently throughout the upcoming warmer months, whether for a hosted movie or game night, a celebration, or simply to enjoy a cold beverage and a half-dozen oysters (well, maybe a full dozen). Level Beer just has that sort of vibe to it that it instantly welcoming, and familiar, like visiting a friend or family member's house for a summer barbecue. Service was quick and friendly, and the space is wonderful. Plenty of outdoor seating both covered and uncovered. The back yard is a GEM! Kids and dogs welcome. I went to Level Beer for an event and it was fantastic. The staff was knowledgeable and passionate about their beer AND everyone was so friendly. There are multiple areas to hang, the event was in a cool barn style building towards the back but in the main area there were games, a covered outdoor area and then a 100% outdoor area. There are multiple food trucks and everything was a vibe. I highly recommend hanging out and having a few drinks with friends. read more

This place is difficult for me to rate because there are so many moving parts to it. I'll just give my feedback on each bit individually. Parking: Wasn't bad for a Thursday evening in the winter, but I think in the summertime it probably will not have enough spots for everyone. Ambiance: Absolutely loved the ambience in the covered area. There are string lights and plants hanging from the ceiling, which I thought was really nice. There are some arcade machines inside which people were playing and seemed to enjoy as well. A nice retro feel there. Service: Bartenders were great. Very kind, you can keep a tab open, there wasn't a super long wait for the food from the food cart either and the gal working at the seafood cart was so kind. Food/Beverage quality: The beers and ciders were really good. I had Poke from the seafood cart and it was a ripoff for the cost. $15 for a really tiny tapas size bowl. The coconut rice was okay, but it tasted like the one I make at home, not like what I'd normally get at a place I am eating out at, so that was a miss. The fish itself was not impressive, and they cut it into super large chunks which made it difficult to eat. The fish flavor really overwhelmed everything else in the bowl. I liked the veggies on top and sauce, I wish I could have tasted more of that but it was FISH FISH FISH lol The best part about the place: STRAY CATS!! They had 3 gorgeous kitties there who the dad cat (also a stray) brought to them when they were very tiny. They're still small, but about 8-9 months old now. They were cautiously optimistic and of course, never get fed ever...... and the three cat bowls that had food overflowing in them and fresh running water didn't exist..... and they are STARVING and nobody loves them....... So please feed them food...... lol! They are little beggars but the people at the place are taking very good care of them, and have a trap and neuter appointment for them next week. I was impressed by that. The thing that really turned me off was that we were inside where the heat lamps were. Business hours are until 9 pm on Thursdays but they turned the heaters off around 8:15 and it was freezing. I get that you don't want people to overstay past closing time, I worked at a restaurant and know how terrible it can be when people just won't leave, but I thought it was poor form to shut off the heat an hour before closing time, when it was 45 degrees outside. We came there because we knew it was going to be warm, so to have that not be true halfway through the visit was aggravating. People who come in the summertime won't experience this, and maybe it was a one off, but it really left a bad taste in my mouth. read more

Stopped in to Level Beer on our way down from northern Washington. I had the Biscuit to the Bear Beer. A perfect balance of bready malts and bittering hops, described as an extra bitter it was light and refreshing! Ambiance is always comfortable in the climate controlled outdoor area. This is the most impressive brewery I've been to in Portland. Between the parking lot and entrance are five food trucks. Facing the street is a greenhouse seating area. At the opposite end of the brewery is a large backyard with a variety of tables, seating, and games to play. it is definitely a local's favorite for all ages. The draft menu includes 19 beers, along with four ciders and non-alcoholic beverages (sparkling hop water, root beer). This was my last stop before returning to the airport, so I only had time for one beer. I had the Game On! Northwest IPA, which was very good. I'd love to come her again to try more beers, and eat something from the food trucks. During my visit on a Thursday afternoon, there was a single bartender, which made the line a bit of a bottleneck at times. I'd imagine they'd have more than one bartender during busier times. read more

This is another excellent brewery in Portland. We've only been to the Level 1 brewery and taproom on NE 148th Ave a little east of the airport. It's in a ight industrial building in a modern light industrial park. The taproom inside is ok but a bit stark and basic. However, the outside seating area, partialy covered and with lots of plants, is very nice, extremely comfortable, attractive, and laid out with great care. Someone also took care in choosing the plants around it. The beer is excellent and, like most of our favourite brewers in Portland (including our old-time favourite, the sadly now-defunct Bridgeport), they make cask-conditioned real ales. We had a nice English IPA cask ale when we were there. Service is friendly and attentive. read more

I love the energy level here from the employees + locals that work within the industrial area close to this venue, yet I just didn't see the big deal on why this craft beer venue is supposed to be exceptional. It's okay. There are food trucks prior to entering, as well as a large open space outside with a good assortment of large tables + small ones for 1-2 people to drink & chill. I wound up ordering an IPA craft beer while waiting for traffic to dissipate on the road into Washougal, WA. There is a good portion of craft beers available, yet I was under the impression that there would be a high level of several dozen choices. World of Beer, this is not. You can find the same assortment anywhere in the Portland region, from Gresham to Clackamas and Oregon City, to Lake Oswego, Tigard and Hendersonville. Heck, even Beavertown has quite a bit of craft beer choices. Not crapping on this place at all. From a non-local point of view, I don't see the big deal. It's a pleasant venue to get good eats & a brew, yet it's not over the top orgasmic. read more

Delightful place to catch a beer after visiting the Luuwit View park (5 minutes away). Real casual. Family-friendly. Seating inside-ish in their greenhouse and outside on picnic tables. Maybe 15 beers on tap, a couple of ciders. Also cans (singles and by the pack) and drinks for the kids (eg Polar seltzer jrs). And ALSO pinball machines and old arcade games. We brought our own snacks for the kids; adults had fish and chips from the truck parked out front. Everyone had fun watching the airplanes go right overhead! read more

I've recently tried three beers from Level Brewing and really enjoyed them! I had two of their New England IPA's the "Cognitively There" and " Low Resolution ". Neither beer was bad and each one had their own flavor profile despite them both being New England IPA's. After having the two however I decided that I liked "Low Resolution " the best based on my own preferences. The other beer was "Finish Him" which the can is a lot of fun as it reminds you of a Mortal Kombat game. This was probably my favorite beer out of the three as it's a stout and was just so appropriate and fitting on the rainy day where we were enjoying these beers. Big red barn brewery and event space with open air/covered outdoor seating (old greenhouse space with seating that is family and dog friendly). In the warmer months there is another large outdoor grassy area to the west of the building that has picnic tables and seating and a kids play structure area. There are food carts serving a variety of cuisines from mexican, greek, fish and chips, oysters on the half shell, etc... of course that may change with the times. Beers are fresh and tasty and there are always a large variety to choose from. Order at the counter and find a seat to drink, or wait for your food to be made. This is all counter service and that's really fine by me. I enjoy a good gyro and that's usually what I get to have with my beer, or two. They have a selection of brewery swag up front and plenty of parking in their parking lot. This is a low-key family friendly place to relax and enjoy a brew. What a great space away from congested inner Portland, so perfect on a warm Summer evening. The Van Tassel in Your Cap, a Belgian Ale with Apricot, was refreshing. It's not as good as the Pyramid version, but very satisfying nevertheless. I'm mixed about ordering food from the carts. It took a LOOOOONG time form order to delivery. Probably the longest I've ever waited for food from a cart. That said, the pastor, carnitas tacos were delicious, while the fish one was okay. The gyro was meh, I'd probably pass on that one. If you want an oooh ah crowd pleaser then opt for the gigantic Mexican pizza. It was a hit with our table. read more

Family friendly place and they have some arcade games inside, too (with their name, of course!). Their patio is large, heated & covered - plus dog-friendly. We tried samples of the things that sounded most interesting, and received a couple of additional samples that she thought might suit our tastes - and she was right - I ended up choosing and enjoying one of the server's suggestions. At first I was really happy to be trying their Impossible Burger. The space could be relaxing outside. They had the heaters going so that was nice but too many little kiddies running around and dogs too. Sorry, that's just not enjoyable to me. Lots of noise. The burger... next time I'll ask more questions. I won't get the bam pow sauce on it . That didn't make the burger any better. And sweet pickles? No way. The craft beer competition is stiff in Portland but Level Beer really rises to the top. 1) Nice ambiance. There's a sleek indoor bar area with perhaps one of the coolest neon signs I've ever seen attached to a heated greenhouse. There was also a separate back outdoor area with some high tops. You can really be as social or separate from the actioin as you want 2) Kid AND dog friendly.... yet neither really seem to take away from the general vibe as a bar and brewery 3) Huge variety of nice, well-priced food via food carts. It makes eating so much more casual and there's a little bit of something for everyone. 4) Excellent beer. They seem to do everything well, from IPA's to dark ales. My favorite was the hazy IPA The only negative would be that it's quite a hike outside of the city, so it's a one-stop destination. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Level is one of my favorite breweries in Portland. I have been wanting to come to the brewery for quite some time, and it is an excellent space. This is an awesome large well laid out location, that is very relaxed and family/dog friendly. Solid food carts and excellent beer makes this a real winner, and the fact that it holds down an area of town with not too many other great options really makes this worth it if you live nearby. I would definitely recommend this place! Amazing selection of beer to choose from. You can take any of their beer to go in growler form OR oil can size canned right in front of you!!! What's also great about Level is that you can bring your dog(s) if you're so inclined. It's very family friendly as well with changing tables in both the bathrooms. The topper though would be that not can you only have all this awesome beer but there's some Amazing food carts out front!!! Stopped by after a hike. I was a little apprehensive as I cruised back from the Gorge on Marine Dr. and wondered if I'd ever find a beer, but like an oasis in the desert, Level Beer appeared! I love the theme of the place and the large patio area. Their beer is delicious. My favorite was the dry-hopped Pilsner. It was super on point and had a crisp finish with lots of hop flavor. I curiously liked it more than their NW IPA. The names for the beers are all super fun, too. Worth checking out and really not too far from nearby points of interest like Cascade Station or the airport. read more
