Absolutely bonkers that I have never been to this place, that it has only a couple dozen reviews and that it's apparently been around for many years?! The cozy ambiance and friendly bartender (shout out to ANDREW!) are honestly what made this place for me. Andrew stepped out from behind the bar to order and deliver beers right to our table, where were were being very loud and obnoxious (something that I did not realize till I thought about it the next day). It was such a beautiful day yesterday, it called for an outdoor drink with a friend! She suggested Leikam, I had never been! We were greeted by Andrew, who was just an absolute delight! Grabbed our beers & sat out on the picnic tables. Andrew popped over a couple times to clear plates & glasses - and a little chat. He was super swamped, but still just the best! Leikam Brewing was a brewery I swung by on my last trip to Portland and it was a fun experience for sure and one that was a pleasant highlight to the trip. I had three different beers from Leikam, all quite solid and enjoyable. Usually when I have a few different beers from a brewery I can sort out a favorite which indeed I did find one which I will mention later. The first beer I had was the Our House Lager. This was a nice, light American style lager that was a nice one to unwind with. Flavor highlights for this beer are crisp, dry, perhaps some nuttiness going on light bodied and crushable which means in my mind it's easy to have more than one. The next beer I had liked was the Hip Hop Hippo. This was a New Zealand style IPA which I do enjoy getting when I see them. This is an IPA style I am slowly seeing a little bit more of than a few years ago. I kind of like seeing less frequently for the simple fact it keeps it more of a novelty and it doesn't get boring. Like any other kind of IPA except bitterness and hoppiness in the flavor profile. My favorite beer is what I said I would come back to and here we are at full circle. My favorite beer out of the three was the Call Your Mother Coffee Stout. I do love Coffee stouts very much and this one had the strong presence for the caffinated beverage which made it great! A hint of sweetness was involved which could have been chocolate made this beer my favorite. It was bold and robust and definitely is a beer I'd recommend for those seeking out good stouts! read more

Super cute spacious locally owned and operated! They have their brews and also fun cocktails! I'll be headed back for the Bingo and Trivia nights, fun! Leikam is my favorite neighborhood hangout. They have amazing beer, cider and cocktails and the bartenders are friendly with the perfect amount of spice. The locals scene is the best and we feel like it's our neighborhood cheers. They also have a friendly bar cat named Puck who is building his own Instagram following. Kids are welcomed, but they ask that you keep them at your table since it's an operational brewery with possible hazards. They have a great indoor space along with covered, heated and uncovered outdoor spaces. Their Vegan food truck is amazing... this coming from a total non-vegan. My favorite thing is the Elote fries...yummy corn laden fries with all sorts of spices and sauces...so good! They are super accommodating to everybody, but also want to maintain the best possible environment for their patrons. Looking at some of the negative reviews it seems like people are frustrated because the brewery sets limits on their accommodations. I'm super supportive of small business post covid doing what they need to do to make it and Leikam is trying to give the best possible experience to everybody who comes by. read more

This place only recently popped up for me when searching for breweries in the area, and I live decently close, so I was excited to check it out. Was out with a friend dropping in to breweries we'd never hit, and this was stop #1. I wish I had nicer things to say, but... it just wasn't very good beer. Neither of us liked our pour, and after trying the first two we opted to leave instead of having a second round. Neither beer was really true to style, or a welcome taste to drink. The lack of other customers that night would seem to imply we weren't alone in our assessment. All that said, I really hope the beer finds it way, because there's great seating both inside and out + food cart, and it's in a great neighborhood, with a walkable location for a lot of people. It's also in my brewery bubble, so I hope to give them a chance down the road. read more

Leikam is, to me, an ideal neighborhood spot. Located in an originally residential building, it's more like visiting someone in their home than going to a bar or brewpub. We were fortunate enough to pay our first visit on a Sunday afternoon, when live music added to the welcoming environment. A beer sampler is my standard introduction to any place we haven't visited before, and Leikam delivered a strong variety - not the mostly-IPA selection that everyone else seems to be providing these days. read more

What a great spot. This is a gem on burnside. You might not guess from the humble house front as you pass by. This is A-class beer. I had a fresh, hoppy, crisp IPA that brought me back to the "old days" of C-Note (if you know, you know), and a rich (and also hoppy) red. Tried a few others, nothing disappointed. Cocktails too if that's your thing, but I stuck to the ales. The inside is rad and spacious, and tons of outdoor seating. Shaded all day by the beautiful giant chestnut tree next door. I always try to support smaller breweries, especially when I've had their offerings at beer festivals. I seek them out and tell my friends about them. I arrived around 530 for a birthday party and decided to get my drink first before I went into the back room to sit with the group. The first thing I noticed is there was quite a line to order a drink and I realized it's because there was one bartender and not only did he have to pour beer, but he also had to make cocktails. It wasn't a big deal because it was early so I assumed they were going to bring somebody else on later. I got my drink and it was quite tasty but it was definitely pricey ($14 with tip.) I went to join my group and noticed there was another big group as well. Around 6:15-6:25 we noticed folks bringing in what looked like band equipment. Then I heard somebody say "oh yeah there's a band tonight" and I looked at our group and the host kind of shrugged and said she checked the calendar and it didn't mention anything. Again, no big deal. We can always move to the front of house seating or maybe stay and enjoy the band. We were told they aren't starting until 8pm so we had time to decide. Meanwhile, people were ordering food from the food truck and eating and others were ordering more drinks. I overheard somebody in our group tell us that the cover charge was $25 and I was absolutely shocked. I said "that's not a band playing that's like a concert. I'm not paying that. But we also are already inside so I wonder how that would work?" The same person said "I think they're gonna make us leave" and I thought that was odd. I observed the band starting to remove the empty tables and stack chairs and I looked at a friend and I said "I bet you they ARE going to ask us to leave." And we both kind of looked at each other because again, that sounds silly to make people that are already sitting and drinking leave. But nevertheless, we knew we had until 8pm. Wrong. Around 6:45 someone from the band said "we know you were told 7pm but we need you all to leave so we can set up." We all just turned and looked at him like "what?!" I was dumbfounded. Seriously? You guys came in after us and even if it is on their calendar, the fact that you're asking patrons to leave when we are all sitting here drinking and eating is baffling to me. People in my group and the people in the other group turned around and looked at this person with the "what did you just ask me" look. They didn't even tell us to come back after they set up. They literally told us to leave. One of the other band members could see our frustration and she suggested that we go sit outside and I said I think that's where people are smoking so we went back into the main bar and out front, with people carrying their drinks and food while we try to find a place to sit. I don't have a problem with them having a band to come play but at no point in time did the bartender say anything. At no point in time was there any advertisement anywhere in the bar that said that there was a band coming? It IS on their calendar on their website, but the only info is a name (assuming the name of the band) and a time listed at 8pm. No mention of the back room being reserved, a "cover charge", nothing. What the bar should've done is put up a sign before you get to the back area that tells the patrons that there is a band coming and that they will have to vacate the space at said time so the band can set up. Or, at the very least, have the bartender mention it. I realize he was busy but a quick "hey, FYI" would've been appreciated. At least then we would've been prepared OR we would've relocated immediately. I have never been to an establishment where they ask large groups of people to leave because they have a band coming. Normally they would encourage people to come back and listen once they set up but their attitude was like you need to leave. Yes we could've easily found other seating and stayed, but we were all done after that. We took our business elsewhere. Disappointing for sure. I was enjoying everything until that happened. I will definitely question going there again. read more

Great little local brewpub and Portland's only kosher brewer, afaik. They usually have 5-6 very sessionable taps that ramge from lagers to IPA's to reds and stouts. They make a mean michelada, which goes far too well with the pupusas from Salvi PDX, which are the bomb. And they recently remodeled the back "barn" both inside and out, making this one of the better patios and an indoor venue I feel completely comfortable drinking in, with good table spacing and really high ceilings. The owners are really nice folks, and they have entertainment and events occasionally, which I keep missing, unfortunately. Anyway, a wonderful local establishment, and well worth a visit if you're in the hood. read more

Really nice folks brewing and running the place. About time there was another brewery option in this area. They currently have 2 food carts on site: Welcome to JamRock Jamaican food and Penguin Poutine for poutine and shave ice. Nice location, small indoor space and outdoor deck/street side space to enjoy a beer here. Lastly, though, the beer is pretty mediocre. 90's style beers that aren't very good renditions. No huge flaws, just not very good. Still worth a visit for all of the other factors. Perhaps with more business and new location they can up their game. read more

New brewery in our neighborhood! YES! I loved the Loganberry red IRA- so fruity, hoppy and well balanced. The bartender at this time is also the brewmaster and mentioned that the Loganberry originated when he was at a farmer's market and met another farmer that sold him some loganberries on the cheap, and pow! I love this company. Not only do they have a cool new spot but they work so hard to elevate the community. One of my very favorite things is that they are family-friendly. There is no better joy than seeing children and families welcome into business... when so many Portland business are side-eye glary towards kids. This place was highly recommended by a friend in the beer business and we've wanted to check it out forever! Well tonight was the night. Tonight may have also been the completely wrong night.... They had just done a fundraiser for something to do with kids (why at a brewery?...) so there were about 10-15 small children running around the ENTIRE place without any care of anyone else, nor did the parents/chaperones do anything. Jumping on the furniture, trying to climb out the windows, playing under the table we were sitting at, and still nothing was done by the parents or bar workers. Beer was okay... But the fact they keep the place open for that type of fundraiser... Not cool. Breweries should not be playgrounds for small children running wild. We basically had to chug our beers and get out of there because of the noise, lack of seating because the kids took all the chairs and we're playing with them and the lack of supervision/care from the workers or parents. Maybe next time, think of shutting the place down to the public if you're going to have this type of event. I may come back, but it won't be for a very long while and I will be telling my friends about this experience. read more
