We walked in and there was a few people in there but I am guessing it's just the night and hour that we were there. I ordered the one sour they had on the menu that night and it was so damn good! Fluorescent Farm Vol 31, even Ben tried to get into mine a few times. I started with just a taster but it was so good that I ordered another full pour. Ben enjoyed his beers too, they were the perfect end to our busy, adventured filled day.

The prices can be high, because there's limited batches and they change these out quickly. A place to pay more attention to the beers than the atmosphere. It's a quieter place to drink. There's a bar and a patio. Basic looking. It's about $8 a pint. Can be expensive, but many of the beers are made in small batches. There's many beers that change depending on the season. Best one we had the last time was the Brews For New Avenues. This is a pale ale, and proceeds are donated to charities for the homeless and others. It has notes of citrus, guava, and red berry. The other beers include some with floral flavors if you're into that kind of stuff. For sure it's a place with high quality beers. It's located on SE Stark between 10th and 11th. They're closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

It was fruity but not very sweet. A lot of cocktails i usually get are a bit too sweet so this was a nice change of pace. The bartender was helpful and quick with preparing drinks. So i definitely would recommend giving this place a visit.

Portland has so many cool microbreweries, I love that there's one right in my backyard in Montavilla. The semi-industrial space has a large bar inside with seating for 8-10 people, plus a handful of tables scattered throughout the interior of the building. Visitors will also find a tented, outdoor seating area for enjoying drinks. The brewery allows patrons to bring food from other establishments to enjoy in their space. I've only just recently been introduced to Montavilla Brew Works, and though I don't drink much, I've absolutely fallen in love with their Jerry Cherry Berry sour ale. It's absolutely delicious! I'm sure I'll be checking back in sometime soon to see what else they have on tap!

This beer had elements going on that I love with herbal characteristics, clove, lemon, fruity and breadiness. The taproom is nice looking too with it's clean, sleek look that it has going on. I am a big fan of the indoor/outdoor flow for the space, especially on nice weather afternoons like we have had recently. Outdoor seating is limited, so be prepared to sit inside. Interior seating is not the most comfortable, with former church bleachers that are quite bouncy or large and hard game of thrones-like high chairs. The team is super friendly and will send you to the food station or the bar depending on your needs, and, with the good quality Mexican cuisine on service, you'll want a taco or two. The brewery specializes in Hazy/IPAs, to come expecting to enjoy these PNW basics. I swapped between them and non-alcoholic options since hazies are not my favorite but everyone I was with loved them. The restrooms are clean and there are plenty of bike stands to make this a car-free journey.

Coulda been a weirdly off night I guess but - The brewpub: I came alone often and either had a great chat with the bartenders or I struck up conversations at the bar with strangers. People from the neighborhood but often people from across the country who came to experience the best brewpub in town. It was on many lists of best of, it was hopping, the patio dominated the intersection. This visit was a quiet late afternoon, notably different and no servers in sight. Which leads to... The food: I came for the nachos. I was bummed to learn that they closed their kitchen. They have another vendor using it which operates via QR code - scan, order, and pay (and tip?) before receiving your food. It's smashburgers and wings. I miss the nachos and the buffalo chicken. I miss the servers. I miss the buzz of a busy dining room. I miss actual service of a sit down restaurant. I don't resent them making changes but if I wanted a food cart experience I'd go to a food cart. And in general, I'm not interested in paying $16 for a burger, no fries, and no service. The beer: this is why you're here, right? Right?! Turns out I do still like the beer but not when it's divorced from the rest of the experience. I can get this beer at bars across Portland and in the grocery store - the special thing about it was the beer AND the brewpub. Also, it's summertime. Where is the Rainbows and Unicorns? Why does the grocery store have the classics and the pub itself does not? Having not been around to support this place I feel bad that I am reporting negatively on the changes. But I also feel like it's important to be real about what you're paying for and what makes your business attractive, and the now ubiquitous smash burger and indifferent service isn't it. The QR code system makes the experience feel impersonal, and when we did need assistance, the service we received was not welcoming or helpful. We ordered Farmer and the Beast, and the interaction with the staff was frustrating. The guy with the long hair who delivered our food was flat-out rude. When we asked where the silverware was located, his response and attitude were just as rude. I understand that restaurants can be busy, and I'm not expecting special treatment, but basic courtesy and customer service should still be a priority. The food was one thing, but the overall experience was significantly hurt by the attitude of the staff and the lack of actual service. A good brewery and good food can only go so far when customers feel like they're an inconvenience for asking a simple question. We've been to the establishment plenty of times over the years - would recommend the NW location over this one.
