Holy good beer batman! I've visited this location a handful of times now and I've yet to meet a brew I didn't love. Of course I love IPAs (I know, I know typical PNW beer drinker) and Ruse brews some of the best I've ever tried. Especially their west coast style IPAs. Admittedly the interior of the space isn't anything to really write home about but it's very large and plenty of room to spread out. I've never been here when there wasn't ample seating. The food, can't forget about the food. Specifically the pizza. Top 3 in my opinion in Portland. Trust. read more

Ruse Brewing is in an industrial building that we were not sure if were in the right place actually. There is a parking garage next to it that was empty really which didn't help our questioning if we were in the right place. I do think some additional signage and lights outside would help for later in the evenings and when it is dark. Personally, not a place I would go alone in the same conditions. We walked in and there was a few people in there but I am guessing it's just the night and hour that we were there. I ordered the one sour they had on the menu that night and it was so damn good! Fluorescent Farm Vol 31, even Ben tried to get into mine a few times. I started with just a taster but it was so good that I ordered another full pour. Ruse brews incredible beer with so many choices. The hazy is juicy and citrusy--just as it should be. The slushie sours are delightful and light. There's a collaboration with California's iconic Bay Area brewery, Cellarmaker. With Ruse, they made the unforgettable "Talented Mr. Ripley" hazy IPA. Perfection. read more

Ruse is probably my favorite brewery in Portland. The beer is some of the best out there so I HAVE to stop in whenever I'm in town. The taproom isn't huge but there's a little main entrance room that you could sit in if needed. They do have food-a wonderful looking and smelling Detroit style pizza pop up on certain days. Sadly, I didn't get to try it due to stuffing my face earlier in the day. Service is always friendly. I highly recommend getting a flight because they have so many great things on taps and it's all good. My most recent favorite was the Fluorescent Farm Vol 37 (mango and pineapple): Smoothie style tart ale with mango and pineapple. It was so ridiculously good. Stopped by after a gym session and had time to kill before the next train. Turns out it was Ruse's 7th anniversary and they had some great stuff going on. Dj, hops inspired candles, a Photo Booth and guest brews. I tried the Flower Island, a light and refreshing 5.5% Pilsner. Staff was friendly and seating was available though it was crowded. This was a lucky find right off the orange MAX line. read more

Nice spacious brewery serving up a good variety of beers! Came by on a Saturday afternoon for some brews. Ordered a sour to start, then got a smaller portion of one of their hazy IPAs I had tried at a tap room the day before and really enjoyed. They had a nice variety of different styles and multiple different sizes of each. Beer was priced per size glass, so while you could build your own tasting flight with as many small pours as you'd like, they didn't have a set flight and prices vary depending on what you order. They didn't seem too thrilled about letting us taste a beer before ordering, but they did end up letting the three of us that were there have a taste before making our orders. We didn't order any food, but saw lots of pizza go by and it looked and smelled amazing, would definitely plan to order food here if I come back! They also had a live band that was setting up right as we were heading out, so definitely a cool spot to spend more time at next time. They had a pretty large parking lot right across from the building so very nice to not have to worry about parking in the city! read more

Dog friendly - Strange entertainment choices - Not many beer options My positive comment is that they are dog friendly! They had so many dogs there it was fun to sit and hang with them. Plenty board games to play. Im a sour or a lighter beer kind of gal, there wasn't any options I could enjoy and what I tried tasted pretty bad not gunna lie. They had some kind of band come and play live music and I hate to say it, but just because you can doesn't mean you should. read more

Okay where do I start. Is it the 9 year old singing at 5pm as part of the "band" that was akin in performance quality to a middle school talent show? Or the overly mid beer that is $5 for a 5oz taster? Or the full one hour wait for $21 cheesy bread that legitimately was terrible. The only thing delicious was the house made ranch. I won't be back. I am a near extinct individual, a born and raised Portland native. I literally cut my teeth on pizza from a long gone Pierre's deli (Portland old timers, IYKYK) and as the years progressed I've had pizza of varying qualities from Domino's to Ken's, Mia, Pronto (RIP) and dozens of others. The pizza at Ruse is labeled as "Detroit Style", think deep dish but a more airy, not as heavy crust with a twist, a burnt cheese enhancement around the outside edges that enhances the experience as is much better than it sounds. The meats used are of superior quality, and the vegetables (in this case mushroom and olives) are again above par. I could be wrong, but surprised if the ingredients are fresh daily, not frozen, and sliced on site. By all means wash it down with any one of the outstanding beverage options (I'll do a separate, lengthy review at a later date,it will be a book itself). And before I forget, Ruse is also dog friendly! So we can dine with our best friends. read more

Came here for dinner with the family and really enjoyed it. They have lots of seating and a couple arcade games, which kept the kids entertained for a couple hours. We had a couple pizzas that were great - the one with spicy honey (YUM) and a more basic one with pepperoni that the kids enjoyed. Their beer selection was a bit heavy on IPAs for my taste - I had a dark lager that was ok. My wife had a fruity beer that was more like a smoothie - very unique. You won't know it on the website , but they serve square shaped deep dish pizza , here. And it's really good . The beers , however , are citris centric. West coast this and that, Some lagers snuck in. Personally , I stick to the brown ale . Live music plays open a large space occupied , sometimes , by kids and dogs. Very dog friendly. Parking is in a fenced yard south of building. Also if you like to drive past 10 mph, you will miss the "Ruse" symbol on the side of the building. read more

Great experience overall! We were so happy to find out that they serve pizza Fri-Sun - and it was really good pizza (Detroit style)! Nice-sized side of ranch for $1. Wish we could have tried the Caesar, but they were out. Beer was solid. Service was great! And it turned out to be a great spot to bring our 3 kiddos (6 & under). They had so much fun running out into the common area just outside the restaurant. Street Fighter and gaming table with Pac-man and loads of other classics (both gaming stations FREE) kept all of us entertained while waiting for food... and afterwards while I finished my pizza and beer solo. Nice big screen to catch the game. Street parking or lot on SE Schiller. Order at the counter, and enjoy! *editing to add: We didn't see any high chairs, but we also didn't ask for one. Ruse is the crown jewel of Portland's beer and pizza scene. The staff was accommodating to our party of 15, and everyone in our party had an excellent time. The beer was flavor packed, but had a great soft quality reminiscent of Hill Farmstead brews. I could drink their Italian Pils and their West coast IPA all day long. Their pizza pop up was happening on this Friday night, and it was also so delicious! The thicker square cuts are not what I usually gravitate to, but their slices were to die for. The generously browned crispy crusts are a true addiction. Also, what a cool re-purposed older building. You really don't need to go anywhere else when on the quest for a brewery and pizza in Portland, but if you are on the west side of Portland you can check out their Crust Collective pizza spot. read more

Loving Pale Ale. Just perfect for my pallet. Had to get a second pour. Pepperoni pizza was the bomb. A bit of crunch on the edges. Chunky tomato base that tasted like tomatoes (instead of salt). Came here Saturday during a brew hopping day with the wife. By far the best of the 6 breweries we went to. The 3 stouts were all amazing. We also had a smoothie beer which was really interesting. Very similar to great notion smoothie beers. Look forward to coming back in the future. They also had a giant projector for mariners games which was a great bonus. read more

Ruse Brewing has such a beautiful space that they can transform to be indoor and outdoor (with covering!). I've definitely driven by Ruse a couple times wondering what the line for the blue building was and finally made it out and it was worth it. When you come they have a shared parking lot with the Brooklyn space across the street and plenty of free parking around the area. When you walk in you can either get in line to pick up brews to go or wait to be seated at one of their indoor or outdoor tables under the covering. The place is huge and they really organized it to feel spacious. We didn't even have to wait for our group of 4 for a weekend! They don't have a food menu but they do allow you to bring your own food in to enjoy with your brew. There are a couple spots in the area so you can also leave and come back. Dog friendly as well! During this time you have to order online via their QR code which isn't bad at all since it minimizes contact. Menu is simple with their beers on tap and some merch to go. Everything is also paid in advance so once you're done you can just bus your table and leave. Based on some Yelp reviews I had to order the Fluorescent Farm Vol. 6 (Smoothie-Style Tart Ale w/ Apricot, Mango & Pineapple. 4.5% ABV). It's definitely smoothie like and I could compare it to a mango naked juice smoothie consistency. It also tastes like a smoothie so very dangerous ;) Great fruity flavor for summer and to help cool you down on a warm day. When we were exploring we found out that the space may also be leased out to other breweries as a collective type of vibe so can't wait to come back once the other places open. read more

Fantastic brewery! Steve and I went here during my birthday weekend. It is kind of a tradition to come to Portland and go to one of our favorite restaurants around then and of course hit as many breweries as we can! Ruse was one of the breweries that we paid a visit to on this latest trip. I got their Ruse Pilsner which was so good! It had a great flavor and was just a great beer to relax with. Steve got a darker beer here and that too was very good but on this trip I was more in the mood for lighter beers so what I ordered was perfect. The taproom is nice and clean. It is popular and can be a bit loud.. maybe even a bit hard to find a seat on some days but not the day that we went. The brewery is located in a pleasant area of Portland as well which makes the visit here all the more pleasurable. read more

This place is in a funny location. The ambiance looks like a business park. (a hip one, but a business park) Once you cross the threshold of the brewery though, it looks straight-up local brewery. They had an alarming number of brews on tap. Felt like 20, was probably 12. They were all my favorite styles of beers: fresh juicy hoppy beers with cutting edge strains, dry pilsners, puckery sours, etc. I try not to be a "sampler guy" anymore, but I was a "taster guy" for a bit. Everything I put in my mouth made me glad I did. It was hard to decide what to get 16 ounces of. I was talking continuously to a dear Portland friend I hadn't seen in over a year so...I took zero photos. I will be back. read more

Ruse is one of the best breweries anywhere. They stand out in a city with so many stand out breweries. While not the most centrally located, it is really close to an orange MAX line station. The space inside is large, and they regularly bring in tasty food options. I don't think I've ever had a bad beer from Ruse. Their hazy and double IPAs are top notch. Their cans are reasonably priced and comparable to other craft breweries of this type. Any craft beer lover should not skip Ruse on a trip to Portland. read more

I have been meaning to go to this brewery for awhile but just never seemed to get there until yesterday. I was hopping free busses with my Vizsla, she loves public transport, and decided it was finally time to check it out. Well, I am sure glad we did. The set up is super simple, clean, airy but no too cold feeling. The beer was very good as was the service. Of course it is also dog friendly. I would highly recommend this place for a cleansing ale anytime. They often have pop ups for food in the atrium of the building. Yesterday it was Thai and people seemed to be enjoying it. read more

Dropped in for a hazy and had a very difficult decision. At least six options, all well finished with unique profiles. You can't go wrong with Ghost Pig, but best to order 10 oz (or a taster tray) so you can explore the options. They also have excellent sours.
