We are very happy to have pho in Alvin now! We came in yesterday when we saw that they were open... the place was packed and they sold out of pho! That did not stop us from trying again today... we were not disappointed. Johnny, the owner, was polite, available, and informative. My wife and I agree that this is one of the best pho recipes that we have tasted! It was incredibly flavorful! We finally got around to trying this new restaurant in Alvin. Yay!!! I had higher expectations than what it delivered, however. Positives: shrimp spring rolls are tasty, as are the fried Vietnamese egg rolls. Fish sauce is on point. Negatives: banh mi bread is too toasted and there's very little meat or veggies. The sandwich is slim with fillings in comparison to other places in the surrounding areas. Beef did not have a good flavor in either the sandwich, or the rice platters. It also had several fibers of some sort of plant/seasoning that was almost hair-like - similar to corn silk. I actually thought it was a hair, initially. That was greatly off putting. It's great to finally have a Vietnamese restaurant in Alvin, but they really need to work on their food quality. I realize they are new and still ironing out all of the kinks. Although I was disappointed with the food, I do hope to see them succeed and become well established here. I will definitely give them another chance in the future. read more

We used to buy from this place every Wednesday like clockwork and even the owner knows our name, however it has drastically went down the tubes. Food is subpar now, they have changed their ingredients and it's just not a good place to eat anymore. sadly we now go elsewhere for good pho. read more

Was SUPER surprised how good this was. Alvin isn't known for it's Vietnamese food, so I was skeptical when they put up the sign for the restaurant. Me and my family finally went and oh my goodness it was amazing! We got the vegetable egg rolls, pork dumplings, and Pho. All of the food items were hot, fresh, and tasted wonderful. We came here based on reviews. Unfortunately, we won't be going back which is a shame since my family and I love supporting local restaurants. As stated by other reviewers, the place is small and dingy, and their portion sizes are extremely small for the price. Now with inflation, I always expect to pay a little extra for limes. But I was charged $0.50 per SLICE, my pho broth was decent but nothing like I'm used to. The egg rolls seemed like they were refried and didn't have a lot of filling. But it didn't really matter since I had a piece of hair in it! I was holding it by the end of the strand of hair and it was literally dangling a piece of egg roll that I had to pull out of my mouth! We order my son the chicken rice, and he normally loves this combination elsewhere, and he barely ate. I wouldn't recommend. Overall food quality needs to change and general hygiene needs to be evaluated. I wouldn't trust anything that comes from this place. We spent $50+ and left feeling gross. read more

We really enjoyed our experience here! Service was attentive and friendly. Food was delicious. We ordered appetizers: the fried pork dumplings and spring rolls, both were enjoyable. Pho was great, however my mother ordered the tofu/veggie pho and only received two pieces of tofu. When we mentioned it to the waitress she provided us with an additional bowl of tofu. My father ordered the Vietnamese salad, and while it was good it is not served with rice noodles as he usually expects. We will definitely be returning. read more

I have had a couple mishaps with not getting my entire order as expected, ordering a minute late from a frequent flyer perspective (I am). However, I have never had a business owner care so much for his customers to make it right. I don't want free food for a cruddy employees mistakes (it was offered). The owner is legit, he can make it correct in conversation. I was offered free meals, I don't want free. We are all trying to make it, free meals aren't a successful business. This place is the best in Alvin hands down. I truly hope they thrive and open more places. Dude called me back after I complained about an issue... He wasn't working, he was at a birthday party. How often have you seen that? They are top notch. I was a little mad initially because of a representative, but truly they care about the business. Who'd have thought that some of the best and most authentic Vietnamese cuisine in the Houston area would be tucked away in an old shopping center in Alvin? Amazing, but here it is! I had a small bowl of beef pho (tendon and flank, though there are other great options) and a pork banh mi. Both were incredible! The broth is richly flavored with fresh herbs; the star anise and cloves shined through, but we're not overpowering. The veggies were fresh, and the beef was rich, fresh, and tender. On the banh, the pork was succulent, juicy, and well-flavored, the veggies and herbs were fresh and well-portioned, and the French bread was soft and light with a crisp (not crunchy) crust. Perfection! The Vietnamese coffee was also delightful, strong, and rich. If I were local, this place would be on my regular rotation without hesitation. Try it! read more

Stopped for a quick lunch. Sooo good! The broth was rich and dark in our pho. The owner cane out and told us his story. His pho is different from many local places because he keeps it true to his "back home" and says he won't serve anything he won't eat himself. Talk to us about the extensive process of making the pho and then encouraged us to try Vietnamese coffee. Wow! Is all I can say! Dessert in a cup! Delicious! We will be back! The staff was very friendly and the Thai Tea is phenomenal!! I ordered the small brisket Pho, shrimp spring rolls, and fried dumplings! All of the food was delicious. The tables were very clean and so were the bathrooms. Plastic chop sticks and soup spoons are provided at the tables for use by the customers. A small location but has a lot of flavor to offer! The pricing is ideal and portion sizes are filling. The pho was delicious and hot, the bahn mi sandwich was a bit more bread than meat & veg to my disappointment but was pretty good for what it had to offer, and the house special wings surprised me with a good combination of sweet and savory and not too dried out. I would really like to leave five stars but there's the ever present warmth in the air from either poor air conditioning or just due to the small size allowing heat from the kitchen to meet front of house. We stopped in here the other day, eager to try this place since we'd been waiting for it to open when we were last living in Alvin. Boy, we're we hugely disappointed. For starters, the actual restaurant was sweltering. As soon as you walk in, there's just no real respite from the heat outside. Still, my husband was "starving". The restaurant is also shockingly tiny, which means their seating is very cramped. There's no sign when you walk in that says seat yourself, and as the restaurant is so tiny, we just awkwardly stood up in other diners business waiting for someone to seat us for a minute or so, til we finally just sat down at an open table. There were several employees there who made eye contact with us, they just didn't do anything to tell us to sit wherever we'd like OR that they would seat us. So, now we're sitting. A staff member brings over these large flat laminated menus and says "You can either come up to the counter to order or I can come to you." That's weird, right? It should be one or the other. Anyway, my husband says he'd like them to come to us. Knowing this, that we'd like table service, no one takes our drink order, as most restaurants would do when they seat you. This ends up being for the better, though. Now, let me mention that my husband had called ahead to ask if they had tofu bun. Whoever answered the phone said YES. I knew it was too hot to eat pho, and that if they even had bahn mi, that'd be too calorie laden for me, so I was down for bun (vermicelli bowl). We start looking at the menu, and I immediately notice that they do not have tofu spring rolls available. I have NEVER been to a single Viet restaurant that didn't have tofu spring rolls. I search the menu for other vegan options, where I notice tofu or vegetable pho, but the menu notes ALL pho served in beef broth (note on this below). I check the back of the menu. To my delight, they ~do~ have tofu bahn mi, good to know for when I'm in town next. I'll say, for a tofu bahn mi, the price was slightly high. I usually get them for under $4. This place was a little more. They had a couple fried tofu in sauce dishes under their meal plate section, but, again, too heavy/calorie laden, and just not what I was interested in if I was going to eat. So, I've decided at this point I'm not going to get anything as I wasn't hungry when my husband threw his "starving" fit, and that he should just eat so we can get back to Austin. A staff member (I say staff member, because no one seems to be truly waiting tables for the 8-10min we're there, even though there's 3 of them lounging on/behind the counter) comes around to take our order, and my husband asks for pho ga (not that anything in the menu is actually in Viet). The staff member says they don't have chicken ANYTHING. She offers him beef. Twice. He says no, firmly the second time, tries to look over the menu quickly, and seeing his extreme frustration, I ask if we should go elsewhere, he agrees. The staff member picks up our menu and awkwardly gets out of our way in the cramped restaurant, and other patrons stared at us as we left. Much like I have NEVER been to a Viet restaurant that didn't have tofu spring rolls, who among you can say you've been to one that served NO CHICKEN? Insanity. I saw others' meals, and the bowls were smaller than most pho restaurant (save for places that offer small & large). Prices are not smaller though. Overall, they seem a little steep. The broth, even for beef, was SO dark. Good pho broth may have a slightly darkened color (beef), but it shouldn't be dark and cloudy like this place. This place seems like a disaster, and since they don't offer several staple things that we consume nearly every time we patronize a Vietnamese restaurant, it's highly unlikely we'll bother when in town. The bahn mis are the only thing we may try in the future, and definitely not as dine in patrons. I really get the feeling that this place is trying to be a fast food pho place, not unlike Oui Bahn Mi (Montrose area), but OBM has executed it SO much better. If this place tossed all the tables they have now and went to long benches/booths along the walls and only chairs on the other side of tables, they'd make a HUGE improvement to their insane space issue. Either that or they really need to focus on promoting their carry out or delivery game to get people OUT of their dungeon. I say that because it's also really dark in there. For a place that spent MONTHS waiting to open, I really expected some light & bright decor, something to really open the place up. Instead it's a sweltering, cluttered af dungeon with staff members who really seem to have no idea how to be servers or what they're doing as employees of this restaurant. Re- tofu/veg pho broth: TONS of pho restaurants who offer tofu/veg pho just put it in their beef or chicken broth anyway, so unless you ask if it's a veg broth, it's in meat. I love pho, and this is a great addition to Alvin's much-needed cultural food palette. I got the veggie-tofu pho, and the broth has a homey taste and doesn't need much hoisin sauce, the basil, sprouts, lime, and jalapenos were fresh, and the fried tofu is better than baked tofu in the soup - in my opinion. As an aspiring-vegetarian I only have one complaint - please add vegetable broth to the pho menu and add more veggies to the veggie-tofu pho (spinach, celery, carrots, mushrooms)! If that happens then I will be a customer for life, and probably grab food here at least twice a week read more

I can not speak for most of the things on the menu. I went here once and got a sandwich and egg rolls. My problem is we eat Nobi sandwiches and love them. These sandwiches do not even compare to Nobi. These sandwiches are almost all bread with very little meat and toppings. Very disappointed. The egg rolls were average. I was really hoping for a better result because I love right around the corner and wanted to support the locals. Maybe I'll give them another shot in the future to try something else but I would not get another sandwich from here. read more

I used to go to a hole in the wall for years over off fuqua, but this place is much closer to home and is the same authentic home made quality, if not, a little better. It may be that the gentleman who is usually running the front is very kind and personable. Either way, I've seen a lot of pho places gain in popularity and not be able to keep up with the demand, thus sacrificing quality for quantity and loosing the base phoans. So far, I have yet to experience this and judging by the conversations I've had with said gentlemen, it will likely never happen. Definitely worth the visit no matter where you are in Houston. Super glad they made it through the pandemic. And they are always cleaning it seems. read more

Really did not think any Vietnamese restaurant in Alvin would be good but omg was I wrong! First we had the special spring rolls which were classic spring rolls with a crispy egg roll inside. Yum! Then the owner brought over a coffee sample and we had to have one. We rounded off the meal with an incredible Pho with a rich and flavorful broth. Enjoyed everything so much that I went back the next day to get a Bang Mi sandwich and it was so delicious! I will be hitting this place at least once a week! read more
