Phở Đặc Biệt
Kim T.

The service was great! I got the Phở Đặc Biệt which is my go to order for any pho place. The vegetables were quite fresh and I liked the meat portion. The broth was decent as well. The only issue I had was with the rice noodle. It was probably cooked a bit too long beforehand because when I got my bowl, it started to get very soggy. I couldn't enjoy it that much so I ended up just eating most of the meat and broth. The ambience of the restaurant was nice.

Very good service. Forgot the names of the items we got but everything was great, will definitely come more. Seated during lunch, busy hour yet everything was clean.

Sesame Chicken with Fried Rice

We ordered carry out and enjoyed the large portion sizes and felt they were at a good price. I liked the flavor of the sesame chicken but the chicken pieces themselves could be a bit more tender. The egg rolls and peanut sauce were good but not great. The workers were very friendly and kind. We would order from here again when in the area.

Great place for pho in friendswood! It's hard to find a good viet restaurant in the area but glad we found this one. They have a great variety of food..it's not only pho! The portion sizes are large and they come in a really unique bowl. The broth was flavorful and authentic. They give you a generous portion of meat. We also ordered the egg rolls and were surprised when they came out because they were gigantic. The egg rolls also came with lettuce which was good cause you can turn your egg roll into a healthy spring egg roll :). The service was great and everyone was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed. If you need a good place to go to for pho in friendswood...this place is it!

Beef vermicelli bowl.

Ratings were good so we stopped in. Should have read the reviews first tho. First, greeted immediately and seated. Nice bright space and light crowd for a Saturday. Pricing is a tad higher than most we have been to.. We ordered the eggrolls, very good. I ordered a vermicelli bowl with beef. I had asked if i got the version with an eggroll if they could substitute wontons as Id already ordered the 3 pc eggroll appetizer. No substitutions. He talked me into the version with no eggroll for $2 less. Doesn't seem like a customer friendly approach and shorts them $2 in potential profit to boot! His demeanor was abrupt although when two asian men came in he appeared to be falling over himself to accommodate them. Just my opinion. My brother unfortunately ordered the lemon chicken. I didnt read reviews until the next day but this has been a recurring theme and they have not addressed it. The chicken comes out gray looking. Its smells ok and didnt taste spoiled but it looks bad and has zero flavor. Had to wonder if this is the new fake chicken people talk about. Even dark meat selections have some hint of pink hue but not grey and dark grey in some cases. My brother couldnt eat it. He had asked for fried rice they gave him steamed. We got it switched out but it was bland and not noteworthy. The dish was just underwhelming if not unappetizing. My vermicelli was good and filling. Didnt even take a pic of the chicken we were so taken back by the dish. We will not be back.

Tendons and fat.

Money Wasted & Disgusting Food I picked up a to-go order that was disgustingly wrong. We ordered the P3 beef noodle with flank and we received noodle with tendons and fatty pieces of meat. Inedible for us and a complete waste of $30.

This is such a great place! The location is unassuming, but the food is amazing! I loved the pho, it was delicious. I got the chicken, and it had a great, fresh flavor. I was so happy my friend introduced me to this place!

We had a terrific experience here today. After our regular pho place in Friendswood made me sick…read moremultiple times in a row I decided we needed to find a new noodle place. Wonder Pho came through. Our server Emily was very helpful and went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy. I ordered a very straightforward Build Your Own pho. It was delicious. The broth was rich and had all the correct flavors. The meat offerings were correct. I had filet - some places no longer offer that option. My mom had the wonton soup with egg noodles. I ate most of it as leftovers. The dumplings were big and stuffed. The pork pieces were correct. The atmosphere is very standard Vietnamese restaurant. It looks newish and cleaner than most though. We will definitely be back.

The staff, especially the owners, are incredibly friendly and often stop by to chat with your table, which gives the restaurant a warm, welcoming feel. We came by after a tennis tournament, and it ended up being the perfect post match meal. Although I am Vietnamese, I had never tried Banh Bot Chien (fried rice cake with egg) before, so I was excited to finally have it here. It definitely lived up to my expectations. The rice cakes were chewy on the inside with a crispy exterior, and the sauce paired with them was absolutely delicious. It is easily a must order dish. My dad and I also shared the Bun Bo Hue (spicy Vietnamese noodle soup). I thought it was fairly standard, not the most memorable bowl I have had, but still solid and enjoyable. For $12.99, the portion size is huge and could easily stretch into multiple meals, which makes it a great value. Overall, I really enjoyed trying this place, especially for the Banh Bot Chien and the welcoming service. While not everything stood out, it is a solid local spot that I would come back to when I am in the area.

Small corner spot with very limited parking and seating, but they've been around for a long time…read morefor a reason. We love the food here, just wish the customer service was a bit more helpful. No one is rude. It just feels like they're focused on getting the food out rather than answering questions. For me, service is part of the overall experience. One example, the menu doesn't list ingredients for the shaking beef banh mi. I asked what was in it and got a pretty vague answer like "beef" and a few other items. When it came out, it had sour cream, which wasn't mentioned. I can eat it, just not my preference, so it would've been nice to know upfront. * Garlic wings - according to my wife, absolutely amazing * Pork & egg banh mi - really good and fully loaded * Egg rolls - good size and fried perfectly * Char siu pork stir fried noodles - nice kick from the black pepper * Shrimp fried rice - simple but flavorful * Shaking beef banh mi - different from what I usually get (with rice), still tasty overall The inside is tight and not really suited for big groups--more of a quick in-and-out kind of place.

I ordered the stir fried noodle with Sweet chili wings and to pork tacos that are the size of a size 6 in a woman's shoe. Stuffed with meaty goodness and topped with fresh cilantro, onions and their salsa all wrapped in comfort with corn tortillas and then wrapped in shiny foil paper. The wait for online orders is about a 25-30 minutes as it is a tiny kitchen, serving HUGE flavors. The place is always popping with guest enjoying their libations and soaking it up with the cuisine. Small, outside seating available with nice couches and bar tables to feast. I highly recommend if you haven't partook already. Love the ambiance, love the people. These people cook like how Jesus loves people.

LOVE LOVE LOVVVVEEE THIS PLACE!…read more I have been coming here since 2016 and it always hits the spot! The staff is nice and the service is quick, even on a busy afternoon. The ambiance just feels homey and authentic. I personally always order no meat pho with beef broth, but according to my family members the meat here is good and so is their chicken broth. They now have made in house hand pulled noodles that have an amazing taste and a phenomenal texture! Their spring rolls and eggrolls are a must, as well as the combination fried rice! Very much chef's kiss I have also tried their bun bo hue broth that i really enjoyed. Perfect for a chilly day. Overall experience: 10/10

I wanted to find a restaurant on the way to the airport on our way out of Houston, when I stumbled upon Pho Hai Van. Since my selection was predominantly based out of convenience, I kept my expectations low. We got there and were seated promptly. My significant other ordered the number 1 pho (first listed on the menu), while I ordered the pho ga (chicken). We were talking about our meal, and my partner described his as "first class pho" and that the "brisket was thoroughly meaty and flavorful even in the broth." As for the pho ga, I must admit, I was initially disappointed that it had a mix of dark and white meat, since I'm weird about meat (I like it flavorless), and I forgot to ask our server. However, I found it to be delicious! I'm so happy with my selection! If we find ourselves back in Houston, I know we plan to return to Pho Hai Van.
