General tso's chicken, chicken rice plate
Jasmine L.

Average thai snd vietnamese restaurant, but it's one of the only options in the texas city area. Ordered the general tso's chicken, which wasn't as spicy as we had hoped. The chicken curry dish was not the best, although there was a very generous serving of chicken. The spring roll was small and a little overcooked. The inside is quiet and basic. Indoor tables for small or big groups. Parking is right outside and convenient

Felt rushed to order and when we weren't ready took around 10 minutes before coming back to the table. Green curry tofu texture was strange and tasted kinda like soap. Lemongrass Beef bowl was half filled with iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots. No music or ambiance. Would not recommend.

Pad Thai... OMG THE WORST.
Ben M.

Ok probably the worst Thai food I've ever had Yelpers. Pad Thai was absolutely TERRIBLE. Chicken Curry was TERRIBLE. Fried Pork rolls were just ok. Service was sub standard if that. Would I return... DEFINITELY NOT. I was very disappointed with my experience here at Basil House. I don't mean to be so harsh in my review but I believe it's accurate. So let it be written... So let it be CLOSED.

Looks rough but good was yummy! Would definitely order again. Prices are a little more expensive than I thought it would be.

I was expecting better food for the prices. The server was not that friendly as he was throwing plates. Definitely won't be returning.

Zero stars. Asked for fresh rolls minus the shrimp. Shrimp were cut out and rolls ruined. Chicken dry. Disappointing.

We were in the mood for Thai and found Thai Stellar to be nearby and well rated on Yelp. We were…read morenot mislead. We arrived on a Saturday just after they opened; we were the first customers. The server was so nice and took great care of us. We started with Egg Rolls made with minced pork, glass noodles, shredded cabbage, and carrots rolled then deeply fried and served with pineapple sauce. I can't say if they were freshly made or purchased in a big ol' box, but I can say they were absolutely delicious! The pork was very well represented, which leads me to believe they may have been made in house. The pork was the leading flavor and the sauce was a perfect match. Mark had Drunken Noodle - soft wide noodle with bamboo shoot strips with mixed veggie, egg, and basil stir-fried in fresh chili garlic sauce. He said it was extraordinary. Leftovers eaten cold were still delicious. I ordered the Mussamun Curry with Tofu served with rice. It was a lot of food and it was so very good. On a heat scale of 1 - 5 I asked for a 2. It had a nice kick, but was not spicy hot. I could have gone to a 3 and maybe, but probably not a 4. I, unlike Mark, am not a huge fan of spicy food. I do, however, appreciate spiciness that adds flavor rather than heat for heat's sake. Cold leftovers of this meal were also delicious. Oh... the iced tea. Yes, even the ice tea was outstanding. Mark insisted I try it and wow! There was a distinct, yet subtle flavor of clove. Very unique and refreshing. And here's what earned a five-star review. They offered Mark and iced tea to go. A simple gesture that showed they care about their customers.

Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5…read moreAmbiance: 5/5 Overall: 3.7/5 My most recent visit of Nam Thai was a rare miss for the restaurant. I've gone about five times now and this was by far my least favorite experience (I still liked it, but I was a little disappointed), which was unfortunate since this was my parent's first experience here. My only issues were the food, so here's my opinion on each one we ordered: 1. Thai Tea - 4.8/5 - Definitely one of the best Thai Teas at a restaurant. Though I could still use more of the Thai Tea base flavor rather than milk, everyone at my table still enjoyed this drink. 2. Red Curry - 4.5/5 - Quite nice and had very good flavor. I don't love the addition of bell peppers in here, but that's a personal preference. 3. Pad See Ew - 3/5 - Kind of basic. Nothing made it stand out and noodles this kind of stuck together and became mushy. 4. Pad Thai - 3/5 - I've gotten this twice before, and for some reason it just tasted completely different and nothing like what Pad Thai should actually taste like. Not bad, but just not what you want when eating a Pad Thai. Noodles were also pretty mushy. 5. Steamed Fillet Snapper - 4/5 - Fairly clean and nice tasting, but just a little too plain for my taste. Still, a great option if you want something lighter for your meal. 6. Rib Eye Pepper Steak Thai Style - 4/5 - I really liked the sauce for this one and the beef was cooked very well, but the garlic they chose to put on top was extremely bitter and ruined my thoughts on the dish. I love this place, but this experience was the first time I've ever questioned going back here again. I hope this time was just a fluke.

Small update on individual dishes during my last visit:…read more4.5/5 Pad Thai - A little dry this time around, could use more sauce but the taste was still overall good. Also wished that the peanuts were on the side rather than on the dish by default, so I'll keep that in mind. 5/5 Kao Pad - Spice level 1.5 seems wimpy, but it is perfect that way. SO extremely flavorful and the steak is so nicely cooked. Also love the tomatoes. 5/5 Ahi Tuna - I legit could go here and only get this. Everything about it is so perfect (other than the wasabi, because who invited wasabi to this perfect dish?) 4.5/5 Panang Curry - Very enjoyable, though I do wish there was more protein to the dish. 3/5 Asparagus and Crab - Kind of a disappointment. I don't think the two complement each other in any meaningful way. 3/5 Chilean Sea Bass - Chilean Sea Bass is so incredibly overrated. For the price and what we got, it simply left us wanting more of something else (I forgot what the dish is called... whoops, there is a picture) 4.5/5 Raad Prick - Plenty flavorful, though I do feel that there should be more to this dish like vegetables, but it does allow the fish to stand out.

Merlion was super busy yet the service was surprisingly attentive from the entire staff despite having to park several blocks over due to the crowd! I actually came back to update this review to give a shout out to our waiter Bryan. He's been our waiter the last 5 or so visits regardless of when we come or what part of the restaurant we sit in, and he somehow manages to elevate the already fantastic experience we have. He's insightful on the menu without being pushy, remembers our unique requests, checks in on us without being too much, and strikes a great balance on engagement without intruding. I haven't been writing as many reviews as of late but Bryan's service had me dusting off the old digital keyboard. All that to say thanks Merlion, I'd say never change but over the years every change yall have made has been for the better!
