I have been to the Lesters Diner in Fort Lauderdale many times and always loved it. It is a landmark location that's been in the city for years. Everybody knows about it. Locals and tourists flock to it for good reason, the food is great, service excellent and atmosphere just what you'd expect for a diner. I've also been to the Sunrise location that was not quite as good. Food was ok not great, service was good and atmosphere was a stab at a diner feel but not quite there, it lacked the old time diner atmosphere. However, although not anything special it as still worth visiting if you're in the area. Unfortunately, that's not the case at the Pompano location. The atmosphere: Nothing special here. There was no attempt at replicating a diner feel. It was simply four white walls holding tables and booths. The service: The service was the best part if our meal. It was pleasant, provided with a smile and efficient. The food: This was the biggest letdown. My party had a burger which was made to order (medium rare) but was not juicy at all and lacked any real flavor. It was accompanied by a "small" sampling of fries, which were fine. My lovely bride had the chicken piciata which was just "ok". Her words... "it lacks any oomph." My brother had the pancakes which were nothing special but ok and bacon which was so well done he called it "baco-bits". The bottom line: As always my "customer so what" would I come back? To the Fort Lauderdale location, you bet! Any of the other locations... Nada. The moral of this story ... it's not often you achieve perfection (Fort Lauderdale definitely has it) but, trying to catch that miracle twice is often impossible. Lester's Diners are always offering up good food with plenty of selection no matter what time of the day you go there. It's perfect for if you're just craving a light bite or a full course meal. This Lester's was really not much different than the others. Nice servers, clean restaurant and a menu full of options for even the pickiest eaters. I decided on the spinach and feta omelette and I can say that I really enjoyed this. It was loaded with fresh spinach and feta cheese. I decided to try grits for my side since I usually get the home fries at Lester's and although they were good I'd say they definitely needed a pinch of salt since grits don't have a lot of flavor to begin with. The friend I was with got a waffle sandwich that had eggs, cheese and breakfast meats on it. I tasted it and it was very good. Make sure to check the hours of the Lester's Diner ( locations in Fort Lauderdale, Margate, Pompano and Margate) you're wanting to dine in since they all have different hours of operation. read more

Our food was delicious. Broward County breakfast, Pancakes and eggs, Philly steak and fries, Hamburger and fries. 2 key lime pies, coconut cloud and cheese cake to go. Too full to eat it now. Our server was great, can't remember her name. Old time diner set up. Tge old chairs are the old heavy ones just like the "good old days". Classic car pictures all over. 4 of us ate for 100 bucks. Lester's Diner in Pompano Beach -- what a hidden gem. The menu is huge with tons of options, including Italian and Greek specialties, and everything we tried tasted super fresh and homemade. We ordered the shrimp scampi, chicken piccata, a Reuben, a house salad, and their key lime pie, and all of it was really good. The scampi and the piccata were honestly some of the best we've had, and both the shrimp and the chicken were cooked perfectly. The key lime pie was smooth and refreshing and a great way to finish the meal. Portions were generous and nothing tasted frozen or pre-made like you sometimes expect at diners. Service was friendly and quick, and the place has that classic diner feel but with way more variety on the menu than usual. Definitely one of those spots where everyone can find something they want. I liked this shining diner. The food was good and I specially loved the desserts. They have a counter with them displayed and they all looked yummy. The Baklava and apple pie caught my eye. I ended up getting them to go. The apple pie was delish. It had a perfect buttery, flaky crust and it tasted great. The Baklava was very good and a good size. I ordered break. I was happy to find that they serve breakfast all day. They also have other menus. Breakfast was great. I was happy. The corned beef hash was good. I would order it again. The service was great. What happened??? Your food used to be good. Had meatloaf with corn on the cob and baked potato. Meatloaf was all filler one bite and threw the rest away. Corn was old and baked potato was so over done it was hard. The other Lester's are good - what happened to you guys. We were not the only ones disappointed. Gross!! read more

Given my family's past experiences with the Lester's in Margate, the chain has become a less than desired destination for us in recent years. However, given there wasn't too much around the area for brunch today; my sister and I decided to try our luck at the one I pompano! Going in, the place was jumping, but we were seated right away. Today, we ordered 1x Leo (scrambled eggs with chopped lox and home fries) and 1x Greco (eggs with potatoes, peppers, tomato, feta, gyro, and taztiki). Moving on with my review, it's been sometime since I've been to a Diner and especially one that was this good! The Leo had soft fluffy eggs and plenty of chunks of cooked lox; the home fries were also nicely crisped as well! The greco had soft fluffy eggs, nice contrast of flavor from the sauteed veggies, crispy potatoes and savory browned pieces of gyro! Only small critique is that the bagel that came with my sis meal was kinda doughy, but shouldn't have crazy expectations when Lester's is more well known for its breakfast and lunch/dinner options. Overall, both the service and food was very good. I'm glad I found this location as we'd certainly come back here again and for that reason; my final verdict is a 4/5! read more

Hairball in waffle. Have been basically a daily customer for 10 years despite consistent issues -- only because it's a childhood tradition with my son. Have tried many times to kindly explain the issues with the food, which are simple: the waffles are often burnt. And now, a literal ball of hair in the food. When they've tried to compensate with a free meal, I've almost always asked that, instead, I'd just really appreciate if they could try to fix the issue as it happens at least 1-2x per week. They are generally kind but nothing changes. Things came to a head this week -- and I feel they have serious problems in their kitchen -- look at the photo below. It's like the waffle fell and got smushed on the floor or something and picked up a hairball. Worse yet, when I called, assistant manager said that it couldn't be them because ***they have had so many issues in the past specifically with waffles, that they have a better process in place now.*** So, she said they have had so many issues, there is no way there is an issue now, which is insane logic. Even though I made it absolutely clear that I did not want ANY kind of refund, and was letting them know because it was so disgusting, the assistant manager implied that either I was at fault for the issue. The general manager called. I called her back, and she never got back to me. I short, Pompano Beach should just be aware of how this place treats long-term customers. During the slow season, all of us regulars keep the local businesses afloat. Lester's only acts this way because of the influx of people in the area right now. Was in Ft Lauderdale for the Air show and decided to come here for breakfast. Restaurant was busy on a Sunday, but we were seated quickly. Lesters has been around for as long as I can remember. The food is good and consistent. They have several locations and the State Rd 84 location is open 24 hours. The downside at this location: parking could be a little tough and they are not open past 4pm every day. I have had many meals here and the other locations and never disappointed. Breakfast has been my favorite and this morning they hit it out of the park with the corned beed hash Benedict. Sooo good...I had to write a review! Prices are in line with other local breakfast spots and it is a treat when you don't need to wait for a table which never happens during the season. They have a nice enclosed patio area which we really enjoy. I know I will be returning for another Benedict in the near future. read more

I've been to Lester's a few times and it's always consistently a good experience. This time, we started with the stuffed mushrooms. The stuffing in the mushroom was cheesy and full of flavor. I always order the Greek salad which comes with grape leaves. The vegetables in it are always fresh and the salad is massive. The Greek dressing is made in house and is the best I've ever had! I love Lester's but I was quite disappointed today. My man went to get a bunch a food for my birthday. Eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast, pancakes biscuits and gravy, corn beef hash and everything was cold. We are only a 3min drive away from the restaurant. My favorite thing is the corn beef hash it was not great, it was definitely under cooked. I like my hash browns to be extra crispy but they were so overdone I couldn't even eat them. read more

9/23/24 My wife and I stopped by today, for our first visit. She had a delicious Belgian Waffle and I had Lester's Ranch with 2 eggs, bacon, toast, and grits. All tasted great. Connie was our Server and she provided great service, and was very pleasant. She represents your restaurant in 5 star fashion. We liked the restaurant very much. This was my 2nd visit to this diner. I was immediately greeted at the door and seated. Our waitress, Nicole, was very efficient. She immediately came over to greet us and take our drink order. She gave us enough time to look over the menu, and took our order. She refilled our coffee without us having to ask for her to do so. She was friendly and on point. My chicken gyro was tasty, but had too much tzatziki sauce globbed all in it. I took a bite and it poured outside the gyro and on my shirt. The tzatziki taste was very good, just messy. I recommend having it on the side. The fries were hot and tasty. The turkey melt was good, not great. It was made of just turkey and swiss cheese. On Atlantic Ave south of 95 and on the way to the beach, they have there own parking lot and it fills up. If you time it right, you can get in without a wait. IMO...best breakfast in town. I dream of the pancakes, they're so light and fluffy. Coffee is always fresh and hot. The 2-2-2 is my go-to. 2 eggs, 2 bacon, sausage or ham (your choice) and 2 pancakes. For $1 more you can sub french toast. Service is always friendly and it's clean. Pay at the register, its so hard to not to pass up a slice of one of the fresh made pies.
