I want to give a big THANK YOU to Dee at Leslie Pools in Lafayette! She helped me determine what I needed to make my green pool water turn blue again. She truly took the time and asked me several questions before she tested my water. The report printed out and after reviewing it with me, she suggested that I should add another bag of chlorine to the treatment list because I only visit the house about once every two weeks. Well, she was 100% right because after I followed all of her instructions, my pool now looks perfect and the report is spot on! While I am on the subject of superior customer service, as I was entering the parking lot to the store, I saw her helping an elderly gentleman load 2 tubs of chemicals into his SUV. Something you don't see too much of anymore in the retail industry. If you think my review is biased, I went to another Leslie Pools before going to the Lafayette store and when I went in, all that representative did was take my pool water, throw it into the tester, and hand me my report. Then went back to texting on his phone. And guess what? That report showed that my pool was in good shape and had a 60% score instead of the true 30%. I had my doubts and I am glad I did. I would have wasted my time and I am sure my blood pressure would have spiked that day. Thank you again Dee! read more

I went there today. The lady's name was Dee. She was very helpful and offered to order some pool parts for me that they didn't have in stock. I asked her to order them from one of they're other stores. She took my information and told me that they'd arrive soon, perhaps this week. I had been to three or four other places and they also didn't have what I wanted but nobody ever asked if they could order what I needed. Now I'm always going to go there! read more

I am glad to read that my experience was not isolated and not targeted. Four years ago, Ed J gave this Leslie's store a one star. He had an experience to write about. His post reflected how I was treated by the same person who Ed J mentioned. Luckily, I had wonderful, kind interactions with the young employees who worked there. I understand now how important it is to have good customer service, because in the future generative AI could potentially replace all the employees who treat people poorly. On the other hand, for those who believe in karma, providing bad customer service would have consequences in itself. On the positive side, there are friendly employees working there. Just need to time when to go to the store to avoid the negative vibes from the not so nice employee. read more

First time hot tub owner/operator - went to Leslies frankly because it was the closest to home. I have a new reason to go back and her name is Valarie. I went in knowing nothing and walked out smiling, laughing, and with exactly what I needed.. bonus points were added with hand written directions on what steps and how much. Last year when Leslie's was out of Bromine tabs i understood and went to Amazon. But today when I went in, they had plenty. I got my container and waited at the counter for 5 minutes or so but the guy manning the store on the telephone wouldn't even look at me or another customer. Coulda just walked out with it. I didn't. Service and knowledge of pools has dropped significantly since Malcolm has left!!! Since Malcolm left, there is a young man - late teens early 20s - who is working there. He is nice, but he doesn't seem to know anything at all about pools, and even has to request assistance from his coworkers to look up my purchase history. I used to rely on the Lafayette Leslie's store for all of my pool needs. I will now be looking for another option to purchase my pool chemicals. Update on 6/15 - Was contacted by regional manager. Very nice guy and was open to hearing about my experience. I appreciate that he contacted me to learn more. Right after my original review, I did go to the Pleasant Hill Leslie's. Wayne helped me there and was polite, knowledgeable, and very customer service oriented. That will be where I get my pool supplies going forward. read more

Here is a story about a dude who knows nothing about pools....me. I walk into the store after purchasing what I consider a glorified kiddie pool (12 foot diameter 3 feet deep) and I was greeted with a friendly smile and an awesome joke. I love sarcasm and sharp wit. The manager Malcolm has this in spades. He was funny and kind (clearly seeing I had no idea what I needed or was doing there) and helped direct me to the items I needed. However, the store specializes in in-ground pools so the tiny pump I was searching for could not be had here. Have no fear Malcolm suggested with a bit of research I could locate one rather quickly. He advised me on a salt water converter thingie (cant remember it exactly) and sent me on my way. I did the research and came to the conclusion salt was not the best way to go for my pool (surprisingly Malcolm hinted at this haha) that I spent about 100 bucks on. I returned to my sage Malcolm and explained I had a change of heart and due to his excellent customer service, recommendations, and honesty I wanted to give him my business. We then discussed how to chlorinate my tiny pool so it would be free of germs and nasty bits. He hooked me up with the proper supplies and sent me out into the world a smarter and more confident dude with a new pool. I followed his instructions and brought back the water to test (WHICH IS FREE BTW WOOT WOOT) as he tested the water like a wizard working magic and mixing potions all while we chatted about family, business, and of course pools. It is nice to see someone who loves their work as much as Malcolm. As a business owner myself I have half a mind to try and steal him for my sales team :) but I wouldnt want to take away from the possible great experiences others will have when shopping here. It is refreshing and assuring to deal with a manager that is so full of spirit that you cant stop smiling. He always walks me to the door and wishes me well. I go out of my way to criticize and to praise. And Malcolm and the crew deserve the praise! I will be bringing my business here from now on. ***to all the haters...yes it is expensive but you are in Lafayette what do you expect? The price you are paying is to help pay the employee to help you get exactly what you need and explain everything to you. Dont need help? Do you already know everything about pools? Last Sunday or Monday (7/2 or 3), I ordered a part for my pool sweep from the store. They said it wouldn't be shipped until the following Monday ( 1 week). I asked if I could get it sooner and they said yes and charged me ~$8 for it and said they will call me when it came in. I expected delivery that same week. Sunday the 9th, no call. On Monday the 10th I got no call so I called. It hadn't been received in the store and they had no explanation and no idea on when it would be delivered. They said they would call when it came in. My wife called on the 11th and the same "non-response". Later on the 11th we got the call that that the part came in. I went to pick it up at 5:45 pm. One person working and a line of 5. I asked about reimbursement for the charge for early delivery. He looked up my name and told me that he had been told by others at Leslie's that I wasn't charged for an early delivery. I said "I said I requested early delivery and wasn't charged for it and didn't get it on early delivery?" He checked and verified that I was charged for early delivery but couldn't explain why it wasn't delivered sooner, as paid for. He said the problem was that I came in on his day off, inferring that others at Leslie's didn't know what they were doing. I told him that he was making Leslie's problems my problems, and he said yes. This is totally wrong! This store's management and employees need to attend customer service training. I will never go to this store again. read more

I recently fired my pool service bc they were awful and my pool water was green. The entire team at Leslie's pool in Lafayette jumped right on it and helped me learn to take care of the pool and fix the chemistry. They are knowledgeable, always friendly and go the extra mile. When our skimmer basket broke, Malcolm drove all the way to Livermore to get me one when their store was out of the one I needed. And Valerie is awesome-she's been in there the last few times I've been there and I always appreciate her friendly attitude and advice. EXCELLENT service-pls support that store! Also Leslie's app for your phone works great to check the chemistry for the pool-don't pay anyone to do this-it is easy, and tells you exactly what to do each week. read more

I have been going to this location for the last ten years. I purchased something that I had to return and the person there (Valerie) was the most customer unfriendly person I have ever had there. I will grant her the benefit of the doubt that it was a Sunday morning and I wouldn't want to be working on Sunday morning, but she should not be in customer service. After her unhelpful attitude and condescending approach, she finally gave me my store credit (not a refund) but had to write it out and explain it like I was a five year old. When I asked her a question about the test she did, she was flippant and she seemed annoyed. While I do get water tests from Leslie's, I have discovered that many times they are wrong (I have my own testing kits), but it's a nice second opinion (and since I'm going to get supplies, why not get a free test). I have been instructed several times to drain my pool because of a severe chemical imbalance, only to discover the next week when I return (and I did not drain my pool) that the chemical balance was fine. I guess you get what you paid for (free testing)! read more

Additional Update: I have to laugh at Chris below's response to me about my review being wrong..thats like telling a very pregnant person they are not pregnant...ridiculous. Chris, Ron was rude and unprofessional on more than one occasion, I think that is patient enough...I have never experienced that at my Pleasant Hill store or even the Concord one that we have been to on occasion. That said - thankfully the regional manager assured me that this would be remedied ..so the 'complaint' ship has sailed and if we do happen to go back there, if the service is better I will be sure to note that on my review.. UPDATE:The Regional Manager John contacted me about this incident, and I am really appreciative of that. I wish he was the manager that we had dealt with instead on that Sunday. Definitely professional and focused on remedying the situation. Thank you John ! Original review: I have had 3 bad experiences with the Lafayette store - to say the customer service is disgusting is being extremely generous. Today was the worst to date yet, and corporate will be hearing about it. To frame this exchange, let me point out that we are pretty patient and understanding, but this experience today was unacceptable. We had a swimming pool pump part placed on hold through a different store who I will add are AMAZING - but the Lafayette store on the other hand treated us as if we were aliens or had 2 heads from the time we entered the store. The manager Ron needs a year long boot camp workshop on how to be professional and the appropriate way to treat customers. Not only were we constantly interrupted with - "let me just check these people out first" ('these people" are customers who entered the store AFTER us) all while we were in the middle of our conversation about the part placed on hold for us - the first time, I could probably excuse, I get it, people want to get in and out fast - but seriously ????? after 30 mins of this bullshit ? while my groceries is wilting in the car and you are treating me as if my time does not matter - my time is just as valuable as the next person and were are also paying customers. He then pulled out the part catalog and slammed it on the counter and sighed like it was an absolute chore to be working there. Like I said, we've had a number of times when this manager was rude and abrasive. Today was the last straw (and we will never do business with that store). After the 4th time of them interrupting the 'service' to us to help somebody else we walked out - at that point the manager Ron in front of all the customers clapped his hands at us. I've never experienced such disgusting service in my entire life. PS he lost a sale of $210 that we ended up spending at the Pleasant Hill store who were professional , super helpful and knew their product. SO funny - interesting.... 2 days after my review - it looks like manager Ron who was never mentioned in any of the reviews prior to my feedback, suddenly has 2 'good' reviews specifically called out by name..he must have got some friends to do 'damage control'. An apology and decent customer service goes a lot further than getting friends to fix things.... just saying. I've been a customer of Leslie Pools for the past 4 years (including the Pleasant Hill and Concord store) - this was the worst customer service that I have experienced at Lafayette. read more

I was abandoned by my pool service of 14 years after he sold out. I walked in to Leslie Pools in Lafayette and was greeted by Kyle. After four visits, Kyle has been training me on how to keep my pool clean, brushing, vaccuming, and cleaning the various parts. Malcolm, the manager looked at my Polaris on a Saturday. It needed a new bottom which was a $55 part, called a couple of stores, and found the part. He gives me two options, one was to buy the new part, or he could get a used bottom from his Pleasanton store, pick it up on the way in on Sunday, and replace it for FREE and have it done by noon on Sunday. Please understand, I'm an infrequent store customer, as I do most the work, and pool maintenance myself. I only buy my chemicals in his store, and only when Leslie's has deals that make it more cost effective. He is knowledgeable, helped me with issues in the past, and an excellent reflection of his stores orientation to service. read more

This store is the go to place for all things pool related. They have a nice selection of pool toys and carry all the supplies you need. I was a huge fan of Ron as he always went above and beyond to help me including coming in on his day off to fix my pool cleaner. But this post is about the exceptional service I received from Justin. On Saturday at store closing I brought in my pool cleaner for repair thinking I would be dropping it off and picking it up days later. Justin stayed late to fix my equipment so that I could have it right away. He was very friendly and provided outstanding customer service. I will keep telling my friends to go to Leslie's. read more
