Ate at Leone's this afternoon. Had the Fish called Wanda sandwich. Came down with food poisoning. Was it the fish? The tartar sauce? Cooking oil? Called the restaurant to speak with the manager (female) and was put on hold for 10 minutes. Then the kitchen manager picked up the phone. He proceeded to question me about whether or not I truly had food poisoning or not....was this the only food I've eaten today? How long after I ate the sandwich did I get sick? Incredible. He claimed they get fresh fish in everyday. Probably a bad piece of fish? He did apologize, also claiming he has never had to deal with this before. I am truly disappointed how the first manager I spoke with put me on hold for 10 minutes, after I explained to her what happened, only to transfer me to someone else. She obviously did not care about her regular customer. I also appreciate and accept an apology, however, it is obvious the entire situation was blown off by both supervisors. First off, Leon's has great service. They gave us a specified wait time and seated us accordingly. Heck, the waiter was so nice he even took the time to run out and give me the food my boyfriend and I had left at the table after paying. He was super friendly and super attentive to our tables needs. As for the food, I had calamari, lobster ravioli, and a cannoli and let me tell you that food was super tasty and fresh and I will be back for more! read more

We try to support our local restaurants in this time but you must give a 110%.. We ordered a family style chicken parmesan meal the salad was big enough for one teenage girl the pasta was dried out and actually burnt on the bottom of the pan which tells me this was prepared well in advance I hope you guys make it through this trouble time with the meals you are putting out good luck but we will not be coming back to your restaurant anytime soon read more

Sadly we were so disappointed on our last visit that we will probably not return. We have really enjoyed up until now and introduced many people. Taking Covet 19 into account I will not whine about the cost increases, but be warned and (unlike me) check each price before ordering. 2 meals, a bowl of Chowder and crab cakes, no liquor and the bill was $85....before tip. We are big fans and continued to visit until they closed for Covet 19. Usually Great food, large portions, reasonable prices and excellent service. However this pandemic has changed things. The service was friendly but fair at best. With only 1/2 the dining room open our waiter was slooow. Food was good, but lost the "great rating" . The Eggplant Parm did not arrive with pasta. It was not offered by the waiter and when we asked it was explained to us that it was a side and we ordered Brussel sprouts. At $85, I would have appreciated .85 worth of spaghetti. Their food is always been great I've gone there since I was a kid and they were located in Forest Park I went and purchased some food I need to go order and I live about seven minutes from the restaurant they told me 25 minutes I'll come and pick it up after I picked it up and drove home I started to unpack there were other items that I purchased but I disappoint I was hungry so I opened everything I had gotten chicken Alfredo my sauce was broken it was very oily buttery looking I have never seen this before it became unappealing for I also ordered stuffed shrimp there is more stuffing than the size of the shrimp and it wasn't cooked all the way it was cold in the middle my salad was OK dressing was very watery I am not sure I will come back here again for a little while read more

I recently did a take out order of calamari appetizer size and margherita pizza and I am very much impressed with both. The crust was just right - neither too thick or thin and it had big round pieces of mozzarella . Very tasty and appealing to the senses! The calamari was superb too- the breading was not too much ; light but still crispy ! Plus prices are reasonable and worth every cent !!! read more

Today, we had a reception after my father-in-laws funeral at Leone's.. Leone's did a great job. Beautiful space, gave us back 2 rooms open to 1 large space. Food was great and was plentiful. We had for 75 and was a lot left over. They packed up small containers with all the leftovers for guests to take home. Nice touch. Staff did great job with keeping everything going. Coffee was excellent and great dessert. Thanks Leone's for making a tough day pleasant and enjoyable. read more

Amazing food, friendly service and it's not a tiny place but definitely tastes like that small mom&pop Italian food. Tonight was Mother's Day Eve and my eldest daughter and her husband treated me and my husband to dinner at Leone's. We all loved our meals and the tiramisu was great. But I especially want to praise our server Gianna. She did a great iob! Our drinks arrived within minutes of our orders, which of course also required a great bartender. Additionally, our dinners came out really hot, which requires a very attentive server. She also has a great personality with a sunny disposition. What a great addition she is to Leone's. First of all they have a fire place and couldn't even put on a low setting. My teeth we clanking from how cold it was in the restaurant.My boyfriend and I put our coats back on. They gave free bread and oil that was also cold but it wasn't bad. When I ordered lagaña I was so excited that it was such a large piece but was also cold and seemed like they dumbed a whole jar of tomato sauce on top. We came in on a Wednesday night at around 8:30 PM. There were not many couples around and we realized that it closed at 9:30 but it was a great time for us to come as it was a little more of an intimate setting. The environment was pleasant and our waitress Marissa was very kind and helpful and informative. We both thoroughly enjoyed the bread and oil along with the salad even though it was a two dollar up charge it was definitely a nice portion size. Our meals were also very good he ordered the specialty 20 ounce Kansas City strip which was nicely accompanied with garlic butter and he got roasted potatoes which were amazing!! The strip was just crispy enough on the outside and juicy on the inside to make it a very pleasant texture and taste!The fettuccine was savory and buttery which was very comparative to a nice momma's homemade fettuccine! Overall we both enjoyed our experience and will definitely come back to try something else! read more

Twice this restaurant has served me burnt chicken parm. The first time they had the audacity to scrape the sides (breading falling off and everything) and this time they just boldly served it. I always order sauce on the side because I don't like my parm soggy; you can clearly see the charred chicken. How could you even serve that to someone? Both times our waiter seemed hesitant putting our plate down, so they were well aware. I tried to forget about the first poor experience but after last night they've lost my business for sure. We headed out for a family dinner & decided to try Leone's. The parking lot was full, but there were still plenty of tables available. The hostess told us we would be seated promptly...so we stood looking at empty tables for about 5 minutes until she came back. Getting an awkward feeling. It was pretty cool in the dining area with the separate rooms. I'm sure it gets very loud when filled up but it was not. Our waitress came out to read us the specials, which is exactly what she did. Didn't acknowledge us...just read us the specials. Weird. Took our drink orders...like we weren't there. Took our dinner orders...same manner. I checked out the service at the other two occupied tables...very pleasant, welcoming, engaging, helpful. Guess we drew the short straw. I ordered chicken marsala...a favorite. It arrived with a nice side of mashed potatoes that looked nice browned under the broiler. Strangely enough...some bites were hot, some warm & some cold. The chicken was fork tender & cooked perfectly. The sauce had a great marsala flavor & tasty mushrooms but ... clearly was not seasoned at all. Both the potatoes & chicken needed salt & pepper which can only be accomplished so much at the table. We also tried the veal marsala which was tough & stringy with no seasoning. I realize veal is more pricey that chicken but the portion of veal marsala was a third of the size of the chicken. Our plates looked silly side by side. The teens tried the grilled angus burger with fries & a calzone. They both ate half which is unusual...they are destroyers of food. There are so many options in the area that I can't see myself coming back here especially given how awkward feeling the whole dinner was. Service is an immensely important part of the restaurant business. Not impressed at all. And, please, if you pour the customer a drink at the table, keep your elbows away from their face. I want to give this place 3 stars because the "Penne Absolute-ly" was yummy, but the service was ridiculous. Some ditzy 18 year old girl was serving our drinks and says "do you mind pouring it yourselves because I'm totally gonna spill it because it's like hard to do it." Not to mention, my friend's cranberry vodka was just vodka and when we asked the bartender to re-make the drink because it was impossible to joyfully consume, he said it's not possible. Ordered a chicken, broccoli, and cheese calzone last night and it was delicious! Perfect size for my husband and I to share, or for one with leftovers. There was a perfect amount of ricotta cheese in it (not so much it was overbearing but enough to know it's there) and the toppings were spread out throughout the calzone so it wasn't like one side/piece was cheesier or had more chicken/broccoli than another! Ready for pick up when we were told. Definitely will be returning and trying other items on the menu! read more

Mediocre Italian style restaurant. The ambiance is nice and the place is very clean but the food will leave you desiring something more. I've had a basic chicken Alfredo, my salad came with the wrong dressing which was no big deal, but the lettuce was old and getting orange. The water tasted like pool water, the waitress was really nice and suggested flavored ice tea instead. The Alfredo was drenched in sauce and was just ok, the chicken was juicy and fresh. Our bread was a but hard for my taste but it came with olive oil and seasonings. I went there tonight for the first time since moving to Springfield...what a great find!! The food was amazing!!! my boyfriend and I ordered the tenderloin appetizer, a MUST, the antipasto app and a small pizza. There was enough food for another person. We are definitely going back, everything on the menu looked good. 3.5 stars. I've been to Leone's twice now and my most recent experience was kind of lackluster, but pleasant. The atmosphere is charming and we were seated quickly for our Saturday night reservation. Our server was great and very helpful. My issue was with my meal. I ordered the Seafood Puttanesca and although it was pleasant to look at, it was just not that great. The scallops were overcooked and the sauce was super oily and flavorless. Very disappointing. That being said, all of the other food I had was good. I tried a bite of my husband's Fowl Play (chicken with veggies in risotto) and it was awesome and the piece of gorgonzola garlic bread was also delicious. I really liked that the espresso I got at the end of the meal came with a rock candy stirrer. My dining companions actually oohed and aahed at that one. The salads were crisp and had a nice variety of greens... salad dressings were delicious NY steak was tender flavorful and nicely grilled Pollo siciliano was lovely... plenty of flavor with a lovely sweet Marsala based sauce The chicken parm was fork tender and the ziti was great! I can't recall ever being disappointed by Leone's. I visited with a party of six last weekend, and ordered the tuscan chop salad. Although it contains only a few ingredients, it's one of my favorite salads ever. It's quite large, but only around $7. Paired with a half portion of pasta (a bit of a misnomer, since you'll probably have leftovers to bring home), it makes for a good and inexpensive meal. I ordered my salad with scallops, and they were cooked perfectly, but could have benefitted from a higher temperature sear to the outside. In my experience, Leone's can be counted on for consistently good food, fair prices, and average service. They recently revamped their menu, and it's extensive without being overwhelming, which is a tough note to hit. read more

I went to Leone's with my family on Friday. The food was pretty good but I was most impressed by our waitress. They didn't have much for gluten free options, but Nickki out waitress was very diligent in checking with the kitchen about each item. She was great and fast with waters and drinks as well. Ok so my food was delicious , but I deducted a star for what happened when I picked it up. I ordered pasta (which came with a salad) and some Gorgonzola bread. While I was eating my salad at home I got a call saying that they had forgotten my bread and had accidentally given me someone's wrap with fries instead. I said I would come back to get the bread and they asked me to bring the wrap back which I thought was really gross. I work at a restaurant and normal protocol would be to let the person keep the item that was mistakenly given ( even if they don't want it) and to whip up a replacement. The idea of eating food that someone else brought home is pretty disgusting. I did bring it back and I'm sure they gave it to the person who ordered it which is something that should never be done The hostesses didn't even apologize for the inconvenience of having to drive back to get the bread. read more

Don't ever order for delivery. First, I was quoted one price and ended being over charged by 10 dollars. They had the wrong address. Tried several items-meat sauce was a little better than Chef-Boy-R-Dee. Soup was okay, wings were fair at best. I have had better Italian--only go if there is no other Italian around. read more

The BEST American Italian cuisine you can find in Springfield! My husband and I live just down the street and when we eat out, this is ALWAYS our first consideration. The prices are decent. Much better than Touch of Garlic and Typical Sicilian. Typical is small and there is always a significant wait and their prices are much more. Touch is OK, but not really busy and that tells you something. Leone's is busy most meal times, but wait is minimal because seating is abundant. Several waitresses there know us and they are always eager to serve. Very polite and service is always top notch. The atmosphere is quite nice. Homie and friendly, but still soft and professional. There is a bar off to the side that you can make quick stops at to grab a drink or a meal. They also have an amazing patio surrounded by foliage that is open half of the year. The prices as I said are reasonable and the selection is quite good. For dinner's they often have chef specials and "catches of the day" shipped in from Boston, which very often are QUITE memorable. I still vividly remember several meals. They also have your standard American Italian fare that you would expect at some place like Olive Garden, but the quality is MUCH better. My husband and I are foodies and fans of Food Network, and I must say that the chefs there know what they are doing! Dinners range from about $12-25. Appetizers are about 4-8. The last thing i want to mention is their Pizza. Another reviewer said it was "pretty good". The crust is excellent here and several of the pizzas are pretty good, but a few of the are to die for! Seriously. One or two of their pizzas are the best I have EVER had. Two in particular. The San Genaro is absolutely delicious! Unfortunately, they recently removed it. Not sure why. The other is the Portabella Mushroom with smoked provolone. Oh. My. God. :) Fantastic! Unfortunately this one is no longer on their menu, however you CAN still order it by asking for it. They do it for us all the time. Seriously, if you try it, you will be a fan for life. -update- They now have an infrared oven and a new "chop house" menu. At first I would not have thought to eat steak here, but although Texas Roadhouse is right down the street 50 yards away, I would rather go here for steak. The steak just melts in your mouth and the new chop house sauces are amazing. Get the creamy garlic gorgonzola and roasted brussel sprouts. Amazing! read more

The restaurant went above and beyond for us with special menu requests,prepaying,storing the cake,etc. can't find a prettier place in the area to have pizza and they are very reasonable and the food delicious! Our food was bad. 2 chicken parm dishes and one fish and chips with a side of long hair. My chicken parm was cold so they went to warm it up 2 seconds literally the waitress was back in 2 seconds. It obviously wasn't warmer. I wasn't missing much though because it didn't look good anyway. Now about the fish there was a long hair cooked right into it. When we asked for a manager she was willing to comp mine because I didn't eat it. But she only was willing to pro rate the fish and chips because it was partially eaten, now how would one know there was hair right in the middle? No one in their right mind would want to eat some else's hair so it wasn't finished. She still charged 60% for this unappetizing meal. No one at my table enjoyed their meal and we left hungry, the only people that came to that restaurant were the over flow from Texas Roadhouse being in a hour wait and I see why they can't get their own customers. read more

Absolutely outrageous! Cold, late food and the most disrespectful and unprofessional delivery driver I've ever seen in my life! Large order was delivered nearly an hour late. After giving the delivery driver a tip, he said "on a $200 order, this is it?" and threw the money back at me. If this wasn't bad enough, when I called the restaurant to let them know how disrespectful their driver was, they said "oh...I know who you're talking about... he's old and cranky" and apologized. A little while later, the restaurant called back to defend the driver's behavior. They said the money must have fallen out of his pocket and since he's not fluent in English, I must have misunderstood what he said. I was appalled.
