Leonard's bakery food truck
Amber N.

I haven't had Leonard's in long time so I thought I could order some to go. This truck is a local business and this one didn't have a line. Malsadas are like sugared donuts and some have filling. I only ordered 4 of them which was the original, chocolate, custard, and cinnamon ($10.48). It took a little bit to get my food even though the line was short. When they gave me my maladas, it was in a red bag. So I asked them if I can have it a box and the person said I only get the box if I order 5 or more. I told them "oh okay never mind that's fine" and the staff had to be a little rude and say "read the sign on the truck." That was upsetting to me. The Maladas were okay. I ate two right after I got them and it had too much sugar. I was disappointed that this was my last time having it. I'm hoping next time is a better experience.

I'm usually not a fan of donuts but my friends really wanted to try this place and I loved it! The chocolate donut was definitely my favorite and the service was good. Right next to the truck me and my friends got to wait with some adorable baby chicks! We were able to watch the sunset from the tables nearby.

If you're in the mood for some warm, tasty treats, this spot is definitely worth checking out. Everything always tastes great and there are a few different options to select from on the menu.

First time trying and it didn't disappoint I had the hapuia which my girlfriend told me it was coconut filling and it was so good Food here is 10/10 and customer service is super friendly and amazing Ambiance is nice it's a food truck right outside of windward mall we also ran into American idol and award singer Iam Tongi

The malasada truck was parked right outside the mall, so had to get some fresh malasadas (Portuguese donuts) for the ALOHA win. They do take Apple Pay.

Leonards famous malasadas in Waipahu. Hot fresh and so good without the lines like Honolulu. Quick mobile truck in outside ambiance

This particular Leonard's Bakery food truck only takes card (apple pay included). Please be patient because they're taking orders while making your malasadas fresh.

Delicious and open at 8am! Perfect local breakfast stop on our way back from the airport. They fry them fresh after you order. We will be back!

Drove out to get these and it did not disappoint! So warm fluffy and delicious! There was no wait when I went around 930 AM on a Monday! If you have never had these you are missing out. 10/10 for a quick sugary snack.

On our 4 day trip to Hawaii, we had Leonard's a total of 4 times! Nothing beats a hot, fresh malasada with a cup of coffee. This is a MUST HAVE if you are visiting Hawaii, as anything on the mainland could never compare. The service was quick and friendly, and the quality never disappoints. After trying all the flavors, I would most definitely recommend the Cinnamon and the Macadamia Nut Filled, but might as well try them all while you're here!

Leonard's is popular for a reason. The donuts here are fresh and delicious. We tried the coconut and custard flavors, both were really decadent and filling. I think most donuts are best fresh and if you don't have them warm they probably won't be as good, which is where Leonard's shines. They make them fresh, I don't know if there's much to improve.

got two boxes of malasadas for a coworkers birthday. We got the regular sugar and the cinnamon sugar. I've always grown up eating the regular sugar so I was a little skeptical about the cinnamon, but it was really good and it's always best fresh, but if there was extra, I just heat it up in the microwave for about 30 seconds for breakfast the next day and it was delicious. Highly recommended.

The last two times I've been there they've over fried my malasadas. They're so dark that they look burnt. Please do better.

Ask the Community - Leonard's Bakery

Has anyone had experience taking these on a plane? (To Los Angeles) How to store them? Lol Are they even allowed? 🤷🏻‍♀️?

You can carry them on. Not sure how far you are flying them. If really far, a few secs in micro or maybe air fryer to reheat unless you don't mind them cold...

Any special orders to take back home?

Regular and my person fav.. Dobash!

Are there any butter/milk in the Malasadas? Any dairy free options?

Both milk and butter; no dairy-free option. Maybe one of the vegan cafes on island might have something suitable?

I only like fresh. Do they cook them in truck? Or best to go to the main store?

Yes, it's cooked hot and fresh at this location.

This review is only for their ube hopia! Does Manny sell hopia baboy?…read more I grew up in San Diego in the 90s when this one mom-and-pop Filipino bakery in National City, CA sold the best hopia baboy (pork) until they closed down. Then another mom-and-pop shoo in National City, Ching's Hopia opened up and is still going strong. Some time in between, my Lolo (grandpa) brought some hopia baboy straight from the Philippines...Eng Bee Tin brand hopia baboy, to be exact. Yes, it's the same famous family brand in Manila's Chinatown, Binondo. So yeah, hopia has been a childhood favorite of mine and Eng Bee Tin and Ching's have ruined hopia for me lol! You'll never see me buy pre-packaged, store-bought hopia! I missed out on Ching's during my last San Diego visit, so I really wanted to try Manny's Bakeshop's ube hopia. The interior is no frills and the displays never look packed in the afternoon. Maybe they have more selection in the morning? A bag of 11 pieces of ube hopia costs $5 flat. Minimum $10 purchase is required to pay by card, but luckily, I had enough cash with me. To my surprise, Manny's ube hopia were pretty good. They have faint ube flavor, but still flaky, pretty moist, and not too sweet. I saw someone commented on the lack of ube flavor, but I thought this was comparable to Ching's but slightly smaller. I've never tried Eng Bee Tin's ube hopia and I heard they invented ube hopia to satisfy the Filipino market? Maybe Eng Bee Tin's is bursting with flavor, but until I can somehow visit Manila Chinatown or San Diego, I'm content with Manny's ube hopia. Manny's also has a stall inside Waipahu Festival Marketplace. I've consistently seen hopia there as well.

We got onion hopia, guava manju, loaf of bread and hot dog. I really liked the hopia. It was a thin layer of bread and the hopia filling was stuffed. I liked that it was bite-sized. The guava manju was good too. It was moist and the breading was thin which is nice. Service was good. Prices were ok. Very, small bakeshop.

Because I knew before hand from a friend how busy they can get, I called in my order for 2 dozen Spanish rolls for a pick-up time of 8:30AM. It took a few tries before I got thru to someone answering the phone. The first few times, the phone rings and rings then a recording comes on saying their VM system has not been set up. I was persistent and just kept calling until a lady answered the phone. I gave her my order, name, & time I was coming. This location is easy to find with a decent parking lot with lots of open spaces. When I walked in, there was a line of about 4 - 5 people. There was no sign to direct you for call-in orders so I ended up having to stand in the long line. What was the point of calling ahead for quicker service if I still had to wait?!? There was only 1 aunty behind the counter but she worked quickly. Shortly after, another aunty came out & went down the line asking people for their orders. When I got to the register, I told aunty I called ahead, gave her my name and order. You'd think my order would be ready, but sadly no. She grabbed an empty box then went to the back to fill the order so now I'm waiting even longer when it should have been ready. I wasn't happy about that. I ended up being late to my event. Both aunty's were very nice and worked quickly but it seems they need to improve their system when it comes to call-in orders. Spanish rolls themselves - ono, da best! You cannot ever just eat one. Great to bring to any gathering because they go fast. Overall, I may return in the future. Not so much for the customer service but for their delicious Spanish rolls. Continue to support local!

I'm so glad I stopped by Dunkin' today! I opened the app and found out it was National Coffee Day,…read moreso of course I had to take advantage of the free medium iced coffee. I always recommend opening the app for any business you are loyal to before purchasing because you never know what kind of Rewards you can redeem. I also ordered the Bagel Bites and the Tiramisu Cloud Latte, and let me tell you... that marshmallow cold foam was AMAZING. I originally wanted the strawberry cold foam, but the employee told me that the drink already came with marshmallow foam and that it was really delicious. I trusted him, and he was absolutely right! The Everything Bagel Bites are also SO good. The cream cheese filling is delicious, and they were the perfect little breakfast to go with my coffee. And I can't forget my favorite donut from Dunkin': the chocolate-filled doughnut with sweet cream. That one is always a must for me! Honestly, Dunkin' hit the spot at 5 in the morning. Needs better management oversight I placed a mobile order…read morebecause the drive-thru line was about 15 cars deep. While waiting inside for my order, I noticed four young employees who appeared far more focused on socializing than on serving customers. One employee was recounting details of his previous night, which clearly distracted the other three -- they were laughing and joking around instead of attending to the long drive-thru line and the customer waiting at the counter. This kind of behavior shouldn't be happening during a rush, and it points to a lack of active management on the floor. Staff need to understand they're there to work, not to socialize on the clock, especially when customers are visibly waiting. I'll be following up with the regional manager directly, because a location this busy needs a manager who is actually managing -- keeping the team focused and the lines moving. A couple thoughts before you post: I left out the physical description (curly hair) since Yelp/Google reviews are public and permanent -- best to avoid identifying details about specific employees. Want me to also draft a separate, more detailed message for when you call the regional manager? That one could include more specifics since it's a direct, private conversation.
