Ample parking. Convenient if you're in the area. This wagon does not have the flavor of the month malasada. And they are debit/credit card only, no cash.
Fried dough dipped in sugar...hits the spot! Nice central location that's been at Waikele Shopping Center since the 2000's. The red & white striped lunch wagon is iconic to see from the freeway & gets all my kids excited & asking if we can stop. There's numerous lunch wagons after Petco & Leonards is between Laverne's & Mountain Shave Ice. You can order original sugar, cinnamon or li hing mui (local fave) for $2.20/ea. Or $2.70/ea if you want it filled w/haupia, custard or dobash (Kapahulu has more options). It's a better deal to buy 6, 12, 18 or 24 pieces. There is a wait since they make it fresh. The employees do their job, but aren't chatty with customers, which is a mix of locals and tourists. Don't forget to roll your malasada in the sugar on the bottom if any part of it is bare!!. Happy grinding!
If you need malasadas, you gotta go to this truck!!! This Leonard's malasada food truck at Waikele Shopping Center is hands-down my favorite place to grab fresh malasadas! Located with all the other food trucks near Pet Co, this spot seriously beats the original location for me because they make all their malasadas fresh to order. I love how fresh it tastes and they are consistently hot and perfect. Today I got a box of six regular malasadas which was about $12. Pro tip: you have to eat them right then and there for the best taste. Trust me on this! There's no seating, but the service is fast, the staff is friendly, and the quality is unbeatable. If you're in the area, don't skip this food truck--it's the best!
This food truck is convenient if you are on the west side of Oahu near Waikele. You'll find it next to Lowe's in the parking lot. They make the malasadas fresh to order. Service was quick and efficient even if you see a line out front. Eat these malasadas fresh for the best flavor and texture. We ate ours out of the back of our Jeep!
We stopped by the food truck park to grab some grub on our way back to our hotel. There was a small line and the bit of a wait to receive my malasadas but it was worth the drive, the entire trip, to taste these amazing pastries. They are served hot and fresh! I got a custard, and plain one. It is so crisp yet pillowy soft inside. I love how tender the dough is. Thank you to the family who brought these Portuguese donuts to the masses, they have become so popular, they are a Hawaiian icon and staple.
Everyone told me that Leonard's Malasadas were the best. I had to go see if they were right. Yup! They were. They make them hot and fresh while you wait. And it isn't a long wait at all. Five minutes tops. They are I think like 2.50 each but if you buy 6, they are $2.00 each. You get to try one of each. I paid $4.50 for ONE Holy Grail Donut. When I can get tasty malasadas why buy an overpriced donut. When you are on Oahu go get yourself a malasadas...or 6!
Stopped here in the early afternoon after we went to breakfast, and there was no line. We ordered six traditional and one custard, and they came out piping hot in the cute pink box. They are cashless so be prepared for that. It's in the back area of a parking lot, and the other trucks are all conned off, so that helps. There is also nowhere to sit, so don't plan to stay here unless you're eating in your car.
What a delightful treat after hiking Koko Crater! We'd heard about Leonard's Bakery from multiple people, along with the long lines, so finding this little Leonard's mobile wagon was a delightful surprise. We learned that malasadas are Portuguese fried donuts and I don't think I've ever had a donut I don't like. Leonard's mobile wagon malasadas were fresh and hot. We tried a variety, original sugar with haupia (coconut filling), original sugar without filling, and cinnamon sugar without filling. Each one was absolutely yummy! A perfect post-hike snack, and we'll definitely be back!
10/10 would recommend hot portuguese donuts with multiple fillings to choose from Fresh from the truck I want more now.
You could never go wrong with Leonard's as a dessert or even breakfast item. I've been to several locations and mobile wagons and they've all lived up to the hype and quality. Huge fan of their custard and Dobash malasada. The malasada's are inexpensive and worth grabbing a half dozen or even a whole dozen. I could easily down 2-3 within minutes. I will add to others reviews about their hours, be warned that it is not 100% guaranteed. I got there this morning, but they were closed at 7:45. They had a sign stating that they wouldn't open until 8:30. Sad we couldn't get our Leonards fix early in the AM
This is the only kind of breakfast worth waking up for and immediately hitting the road to pick these up and demolish My favorites are plain, cinnamon, coconut, custard, or guava filling depending on the sweetness I'm going for. The coconut filling is not too sweet and just a hint of coconuts. LiHing flavor when I'm feeling sassy and have a cold bevvy to go with it.
As much as I like to go to the store I went to growing up in Kapahulu, the mobile "food truck" style still does a great job. I know there is one in Waikele and one in Koko Marina shopping center. You have to eat these hot to really enjoy them. There are lots of options but the original is what made them famous so I'd definitely get those. The filled ones are good, but not as good, to me, as the original. Enjoy!
I love this truck ! It's so much faster than the regular Leonard's location and they make it fresh and hot as you order it. There was no line and I got my malasadas within 5 minutes. If you're in the area I would recommend coming here instead (unless you want a picture with the Leonard's sign).
Stopped by Leonard's Malasadas mobile. On Saturday 9/5/2026, to get my Malasadas craving satisfied. Always pleased with their service. I waited a few minutes and let me say this Malasada was the perfect start to my day! It's made to order. Freshly made doughnut came right out of the deep fryer, golden, airy, crispy on the outside, rolled in with sugar was so delicious! Trust me you'll want to eat at least one before driving off, and don't try to eat it in your car. You'll end up getting sugar all over. Why not have a malasada today? Stop by one of their locations today. Malasada Mobile located. Waikele Shopping Center, Pearlridge Shopping Center, Windward Mall and Koko Marina. Newest location- Lagoon Drive Main Storefront- Leonard's Bakery Kapahulu Ave. For driving directions use your Yelp app. All of these locations are grab and go, no outdoor seatings. I don't know why I do this to myself. I absolutely love malasadas and I am easily addicted to them. Yes, I'll admit Leonards is the best. I'll also admit I drool a little every time I think of it. They were fresh, doughy, dense and had the perfect texture. We also got them hot and devoured them in seconds. Service was fast and friendly. You can't miss the location. We saw it every time we jumped on the freeway. It's in the parking lot with Lowes and Petco. I didn't see any tables to eat at but I might have missed them. read more
Leonards is an institution on the Island and the truck in Waikele Shopping center is great. Friendly efficient service as they pump out the fresh and HOT malasadas you crave. I recommend if you have never tried to get a traditional one and ALSO try one with a filling. My favorite is the coconut. The filling is not super sweet as the bread/sugar has that part covered. They don't get any fresher than this. Just don't burn your fingers :) read more

Yummm! If you haven't had a malasada from Leonard's Bakery, you are missing out on one of Hawaii's most iconic treats! The food truck brings the same delicious, melt-in-your-mouth malasadas that made the original bakery so famous, but with the added bonus of convenience. I grabbed a couple of malasadas while visiting the food truck, and they were perfection. Golden, crispy on the outside, soft and pillowy on the inside. The sugar coating was just the right amount of sweetness. They offer a variety of fillings--my favorite was the classic custard, but the chocolate and haupia (coconut) were amazing too. The service was friendly and fast, even with a bit of a line. It's clear that Leonard's Bakery cares about maintaining the quality and consistency of their malasadas, whether you're at the original location or the food truck. It's a food truck so nothing special or nice ambience but the malasadas are the highlight read more

We love these malasadas especially the haupia ones. Perfect dough not too dense with delicious filling. Not too sweet just perfect. This has been a must have treat everytime we visit Oahu. 5 stars for the malasadas but 3 stars for customer service this time. The guy at this truck got our order wrong even though the receipt had it correctly. We ordered 5 haupia, 5 custard and 2 chocolate. To our dismay he gave us 5 chocolate, 5 custard and only 2 haupia which was my favorite flavor . I called the main location on Kapahulu to give the manager feedback. I was told she would return my call the next day but she didn't so I had to call a couple times to follow up. The person on the phone told me that the manager called and left me a voicemail but I never received a call or message. I was told that she would credit me 3 malasadas which I did receive. Of course I will continue to return to Leonard's because they have the best malasadas, but I was a bit disappointed on their customer service overall. read more

When I think of malasadas in Hawaii, it's instantly Leonard's. They've perfected these little doughy delights over the years. The service is great and we did not have to wait, and the malasadas? Even better. We got a dozen hot malasadas with 2 of each flavor: original, cinnamon, lihing, original custard, original dobash, and original haupia. All ono!!! read more
Your trip to Honolulu isn't complete until you pay Leonard's a visit. The malasadas are warm, fluffy and the ones with filling are aggressively packed. The sweetness isn't cloying, it's just right. And they put you in the right mood even if it's blisteringly hot outside. We didn't have to wait long for our order. Even if we did, we wouldn't have minded because the staff is warm and sweet. Plus these treats are out of this world and are totally worth the wait! read more

These things are served hot and first bite is amazing. This location doesn't have all the filling flavors, I don't think. I know for sure this one doesn't have guava and I've seen other locations have guava. We came to this location two different times. The filled ones are great, but the ones without filling are delicious up until you get to the middle of them. The middle is kinda raw in our opinion, very doughy. Our friend visiting that has gone to another location said hers were perfect so maybe we just had to go to a brick and mortar location. I'm back in the mainland and just wish I could go get a couple fresh ones real quick. read more

Solid malaaadas. Fresh, plump, flavorful. Good service. I enjoyed haupia filled and lihing mui sprinkles. I liked the chewy texture, and it was not overly sweet. The lihing powder was a little bit saltier than I'm used to, but I suppose that is personal preference read more

First time trying Leonard's malasadas from recommendations and never disappoint! Fresh, soft, and perfectly sweet. The custard-filled one is my absolute favorite--rich, creamy, and so satisfying. A must-try in Honolulu! read more
These Malasadas are legit! Those filled ones, I could easily smell the fragrant coconut and vanilla creams before I tried to pick them up with one hand and nearly broke my wrist they were SO stuffed with deliciousness. Super quick service with a smile! Hot and delicious! We honestly could not have asked for anything more. We went to the truck at Waikele outlet Center. Easy parking and multiple other opportunity for bits and pieces to grab for the day. read more

Leonard's was a must on our trip to Oahu and we were planning to go to their storefront, but had to pull over when we saw their food truck after doing the lighthouse hike. There was a short line and in less than 10 mins we had a box full of deliciousness. The prices were pretty equivalent to donuts, but these were amazing. They were crunchy, warm and very filling. We ordered 8 and they lasted our family of four the whole day. We ate 4 right away and then ate the rest after snorkeling at Queens beach and they were still great hours later. I think the storefront is still fun to go to, but the food truck is also a great option if you're not near Waikiki read more

I am OBSESSED with these malasadas! A friend who lives on the island recommended me this place and I will forever be grateful. He said they are the best in the world and now that I tried them, I can second that! The custard malasada took the crown for me. The cream to dough ratio was perfect and the sugar on the outside really tied the whole thing together. The dough was crispy on the outside but so fluffy on the inside it literally dissolved in my mouth. I am planning my next trip to Hawaii just so I can get these again!!! read more
This is the Leonard's truck in Waikele, right by Petco. The line here is always long. I waited 20 minutes. It might be because people leave this place with boxes. Those people in line probably thought that there was something wrong with me because I only ordered three, two with haupia filling and one cinnamon. When eaten hot it definitely hits the spot. The haupia filling ones are my fave. The haupia filling is sooooo good. I love that their malasadas are made to order, so it's always fresh. There's nothing better than a fresh malasada hot out of the fryer. If you've never tried a Leonard's malasada you need to come down here and try one. read more
BING! BING! BING! Yo, I've been on a mission to hit up all of da Leonard's Malasada Wagons, and without being too "Braggadocios"............. Bruddah Fran has finally fulfilled his mission by bangin' out all of the Leonard's Malasada Mobile Wagons on Oahu!!!!! So if you didn't see my previous review, just to recap the various Leonard's Malasada Wagons on Oahu, I mention the following locations - 1. Hawaii Kai - (at the Koko Marina Shopping Center) 2. Kaneohe - (at the Windward Mall Shopping Center) 3. Waipahu - (at the Waikele Shopping Center Outlet Mall) 4. Aiea - (at the Pearlridge Shopping Center) Check out this link - https://www.leonardshawaii.com/malasadamobile/ Again, Bruddah Fran is gonna be generous & let all da Malihini (tourist/visitors) know...............if you no like wait in da supah long lines at da FAMOUS Leonard's Bakery in Kapahulu..........skip da bakery, and head on over to one of the four major shopping centers to look for da red & white striped Leonard's Malasada Wagon!!!! Rest-a-sure, at the Leonard's Malasada Mobile Wagon, you won't have to wait too long to get your malasada fix, unlike going to the Leonard's Bakery location in Kapahulu. My malasadas came out fresh off of the frier, and there's no better way to eat them, then to get it the "original" way! Ummmmmmmmmmmmm! At $1.70 a pop for the original, just like Lay's Potato Chips, ya can't just eat one! Picked up a few, then walk it off while I was walking around at the Waikele Shopping Center Outlet Mall. read more

Hot malasadas sold conveniently on a truck. I had the cinnamon sugar malasada and it was really dough-y and dry. The malasada puffs were much better because of the cream stuffing inside. Also I think that even if you order three of these things, it should come in a box instead of a bag. When I tried the malasada puffs, I was admittedly disappointed. They did not live up to the tremendous hype. The custard and haupia ones were okay. The flavor was kind of mild overall. But the chocolate one was most disappointing. The chocolate tasted strange to me. It tasted like it was mixed with coffee. Or it wasn't loaded with sugar like normal milk chocolate is. Either way, I was really let down by all of it. read more

Do they stay at 1 spot all the time? Since they are on a truck. My concern is that they will move to places
I think this particular food truck does not move. I always see every time I drive past. The other Leonard's truck is actually mobile. I used to see it in Kaneohe at certain days/times only.
Is the malasadas still good , the mobile wagon in waikele areA?
All mobile wagons are good, waikele location get busy once it opens .
