But based on the customer service my group of 6 experienced on a Wednesday night, I downgraded this worse than Standard and Poor's downgrading of the U.S. economy credit rating. This is ironic - because "Standard and Poor" is exactly how I would describe the inappropriate customer service and recession-like bad attitude. It was a complete buzz kill to have bar regular, aka "Douglas Fir", present his hipster aura and shaggy lion's mane to my group of friends and ask why we didn't tip Willow well and say "Are you new here? I don't recognize you" -- while we were just minding our own business. If anything, the evergreen team of Willow and Douglas Fir should have asked us if there was anything wrong with the service we received, or how it can be improved. Granted, this is a dive bar, not exactly the Ritz-Carlton, but it is still a business - and customers should be its focus. Many Seattle dive bars pass the test, and Leny's on occasion - but bartender "Willow" and "Douglas Fir" both fail, especially when they plant and grow their poor attitudes here. read more

Talk about "THE" place to be seen....if you are down and out on your luck! ;-) From hipsters to bums playing bongos, to warmed nuts from the counter dispenser to the 2 dart boards, the 2 pool tables, and the strange jukebox on the wall, this place is a true dive tavern. If you expect free WIFI, quick service, a chatty bartender, or organic free range chicken strips, go elsewhere. At Leny's you get no more than what you'd expect from a dive-bar. Head up to the bar and place your order, that's the safest and fastest way to get a drink. I saw mondo sized beers being served and our pitcher didn't cost an arm and a leg! While parking in the area totally sucked the more than strange bunch of barflies made up for it. This is a great place to people watch! read more

My 100th review is a celebration of divey goodness! Things you will see/eat/drink/hear at Lenys: Crispy Tots, a pint of Jubelale, and a guy at the end of the bar yelling "F**k you, A-rod. Go take some more steroids!" at the TV. Pumpkin beer in a quart-sized tankard, old men talking about Heffalumps and doing impersonations of Will Ferrell impersonating Harry Caray, and a bottle of "Leny's complimentary hand lotion" in the ladies' room. A barbie head on top of the PBR tap handle, the absolutely delicious DOCK BURGER, and some guy sitting down next to you declaring "my Saturday hangover won't even kick in til Monday morning." I love this place for many reasons: The beers are cheap and big. The food is really good, especially for a dive bar. There are a ton of TVs that play almost every sporting event. The people watching is great. They have a juke box and dart boards. I am clearly easy to please but this dive bar is one of my favorites in the city. Some suggestions: be careful where you park. I've been living next door to Lenny's for almost 5 years. Good, good food, cheap drinks, friendly bar tenders, a motley crue of patrons, and a jukebox that plays a little bit of EVERYTHING. Sure, it may seem like a dive-y sports bar at first glance, but my hubby and I regularly play Magic: The Gathering there to a point where the bartenders pretty much know what we are gonna order without us having to say anything. A solid, solid dive bar in tangle town. They sponsored the dodge ball league that I am in, so my team decided to check it out. When you walk in, the bar separates mostly tables on one side from the stools and pool tables/games on the other side. Leny's seems small, but it holds a surprising amount of people. The beer on tap is above average than most dive bars, having beers Rogue and Rainer. I didn't try any mixed drinks, and I probably won't either because they just don't fit with the vibe of the place, unless of course it is straight whiskey or bourbon. I ordered their burger, in which they advertise is the best in Seattle, and I have to say, they are not far off at all. Not overly huge and not McDonald's sized, it came with bacon and all of the normal fixings, which were all fresh. I also opted for the tator tots instead of fries, which was a huge win on my part, since you don't see tots around much any more. I will definitely be coming back after dodge ball and in the future to catch some Husky games. Leny's FTW. read more

Cheap beers and pool! Two of my favorite things. They sold me right then and there. This place is a bit of a dive, though I wouldn't take off any points for that. It's a great place to hang out with your friends and to even meet new people (we met a lovely couple from out of town, haha). Went here for a friend's birthday party last week and the place was jam packed at 9:30. Nowhere to sit, hardly anywhere to stand without being run into by people walking by, and two large pool tables taking up most of the space in the room. It cleared out a little bit and eventually we were able to grab a place to sit, which made it easier to talk. However, the layout with the pool tables was rather obnoxious because every two seconds we were in someone's way and had to move. Finally, after several hours, we were able to grab a pool table and play some pool ourselves. We had a great time playing, but we were suddenly in the opposite position, constantly asking people to move out of our way so we could shoot. I didn't try any of the food, but I had my first Klondike Bar shot and it was pretty darn good. It was kind of a pain getting to the bar though, since there were so many people inside. Overall, we had a great time celebrating my friend's birthday, but I don't really think I'd come to this bar again. Based on the layout and the number of people in Tangletown who come to this place, it makes for a very cramped experience. read more

This is one of the most active dive bars I've been to in a long time. I could come home from work around 1 in the afternoon, head over to Leny's for a huge beer and burger and be back at work around 3 all the while chatting it up with every other working man in the area. If you're a manual laborer or a burger connoisseur, this is the place for you. If you have an attitude or think you're better off in life than other people, you will experience an unwelcoming hello and glares all the time you spend at Leny's. Big Buck Hunter, Golden Tee, Pool, Darts, video trivia, a bunch of TVs and a group of friendly bartenders that are willing to pour with a heavier hand when they start to recognize your face as somewhat of a regular. For a good, cheap night in walking distance from home (definitely won't be driving anywhere after a few larges) makes this my go-to to drink up on a budget. It's a dive bar. When you feel like a dive bar, it's not an awful choice. It's got all the dive bar essentials: beer, crappy service, not-exactly-wiped-clean tables and chairs, loud people, hordes of obnoxious kickball/softball/soccer league players, loud music, sub-par music selection (Mr. Big! Journey! The Wallflowers!), TVs EVERYWHERE, Buck Hunting & Golden Tee, the "spot 6 differences in these nude pictures" video game at the bar, leaky toilets, vomit on the bathroom floor, and $2 tall boy nights (can't recall if it is on Monday or Tuesday). Almost six after the smoking ban passed, the strong draft of secondhand smoke through the windows makes Leny's feel very much like a smoking bar (though it's still a huge improvement to pre-ban Leny's). My male friends tell me the boys' room features a keg urinal, which accommodates 2 comfortably. So if you're looking for a dive bar, there are worse choices than Leny's. There are probably better choices too. If this was my neighborhood dive, I'd probably have a warmer opinion of the place. It does feel like a neighborhood institution. I haven't sampled any eats, so I can't attest to the food. read more

Do places like th is still exist? When my cousin used to live in Wallingford years ago, he'd drag us all here to enjoy the delights of warmed cashews, cold beer and darts. Not exactly an Asian hang out spot...Leny's would probably fit into any non urban area. Filled with blue collar type workers and sometimes college kids who are more concerned with the quantity of alcohol than the quality. I like dive bars, I really do, and Leny's was the perfect dive bar to spend Saturday afternoon. In particular, a Saturday afternoon watching a particular college basketball team beat their particular cross-state rival for a Pac-10 championship. Apparently, a quarter of the world agreed with me because the place was packed and amusingly divided - Cougs on one side, Dawgs on the other. Having worn purple, I opted to sit with the other purple-wearing people. Smart move on my end. They apparently have a great burger, which I can't vouch for since I didn't eat one but I will tell you that the fact that they came with tater tots made it awesome. TATER TOTS. Not french fries, TATER TOTS. Also, it cracked me up to see Rainier on tap. Wow. So docked for the following reasons: 1. On the day of one of the biggest basketball games for locals, they decided to put only one bartender behind the bar. WTF. By the second half, the bartender got a slight reprieve and a second bartender joined her, but man, I felt bad for that girl. All by herself with that rowdy bunch? What were the higher-ups thinking? and 2. How many versions of pale ale does one really need on tap? How about a little variety? Just a little - we wouldn't want to go all upscale, but you know...a non-pale ale would be awesome. Good times. The giant beers were good for a laugh. read more

Been here a couple times - usually on a weekday late at night. One of those "last minute let's hang out have a drink and catch up" moments. The huge cheap beer usually fills me up. Service can be slow at times, depends on how busy it gets. Usually never really busy compare to other bars around town. Best part about this place is their video game that they have in the bar area. Lots of fun for only a quarter. Has lots of games to choose from - the best one is the Erotic Matching game - don't know what the exact name is but basically, they give you 2 pictures of the same thing (usually a woman in a lingerie - ahem - or less) and you have to point out what's different between the two pictures. This place is disgusting. The bouncer that was working tonight was a complete a**hole. I went here with a few friends that were "regulars" and both them and I got turned away for absolutely no reason; and yes we were sober. The moment I stepped into this place I knew I had to get incredibly drunk to have a good time. Dive bars have never been my forte so I've never attempted to blend in. However there is a certainly something strangely comfortable about Lenny's. The beers are big and the prices are not, so things were on the right track. As more drinks came I felt myself relaxing. I slowly let my guard down, realizing that the biker guys in the back were not going to come up to me and challenge me to a fight claiming that American boxing is superior to Kung Fu and nun chucks, which I'm sure they think all of us Asian-type carry. I hate it when people stereotype me. More beers turned into several beers. Standing up to locate the bathroom was a tricky task, but I graduated college with honors so I eventually found my way. The last few rounds of drinks passed quickly in time and soon I was waving good bye to the fellow late evening patrons of Leny's and even gave a special "what's up" nod to the biker guys in the back.
