Was given printout of another customer's contact and glasses scrips instead of my own. The printout included the customer's name and address. Not sure where this falls in terms of patient confidentiality. Took me over an hour on the phone the next day to get my own prescriptions sent to me. I have procrastinated writing this review for over a year! That's because I don't like writing bad reviews, and this one is complicated. Then why do I write it? I just hope that my review will help someone to have a more satisfactory experience if one decides to go to LensCrafters. I have been going to this Lenscrafters in Northbrook Court for decades, but now it's a completely new team. I was getting a pair of prescribed eyeglasses with an eye exam at this store. It involved 4 visits and 1 phone call. Starting at the end of June to the end of August 2022. The first visit was 5 stars. If I could stop right there, it would have been perfect! Unfortunately, I had to pick up my glasses on The second visit = 1 star The third visit = 3 stars The fourth visit = 2 stars The last phone call = 1 star Since my story is very complicated and super long, I will first provide the lessons that I have learnt. For each appointment, it's best that you allow a lot of time. Don't be intimated, and you should try to understand the entire long and complicated receipt. It has a lot of abbreviations and jargon. Make sure that they clean the lenses so you can inspect and review if there are dings or nicks on the glasses, especially on the glasses behind the nose pegs. If you need to resolve any issue, make sure it is done within 30 days of your purchase. Otherwise, you are out of luck even if it's their fault, because that's their company policy. Please note that they no longer make their glasses in-house. Their labs are in Texas, and that takes longer time if you need to re-make the lenses. I especially would like to draw people's attention to my second appointment of picking up my glasses. Since I wanted the edges of my lenses to be polished and they weren't, they were sending the lenses back to polish for a fee. It should be pretty simple, but the Assistant Manager Alondra, the person that I had to deal with, made me feel like I was dealing with one of those cunning car salesmen! First, she and a woman behind the counter just came up with a $35 polish fee out of thin air. I knew it was not that high and bargained that down to $20. I later found out that the default price on the receipt for polishing was only $12.15. That's $7.85 lower than the bargained price. Instead of telling me the correct price, Alondra maneuvered the very complicated receipt in order to charge me $20 instead of the correct price of $12.15. She made 2 returns and 3 purchases on the same receipt, deducting and adding prices to frames, blue light lenses, etc., so that the final additional cost came to $20.82! I asked for the original receipt so I could compare each item and she said it was not available. After she heard me calling my husband to text me the original receipt, she admitted that she had made a mistake, and then maneuvered another complicated receipt to refund me $8.54, and that receipt has 3 purchased items and 3 returned items on it. I know, my head was spinning too! I couldn't believe that people could compromise their integrity and honesty for money, and just for $7.85 in this case! I can tell you that no matter how small the amount is, I refuse to be treated unfairly. At the third visit, I tried to pick up the "new" pair of lenses but they had not been polished. The team leader Danielle promised that she would order new uncut lenses and she would personally polish them. She said that their Texas labs actually didn't know how to polish lenses, but she promised she had the skills. At the last visit, I had to wait at the store for more than half an hour for Danielle to service a new customer. While her polishing was fine, the setting of the lenses on the frame was less than ideal, and she could not technically make any adjustment. I was worried that the lenses could fall off easily in the long run. For safety's sake, I settled with the original pair that was unpolished. She adjusted the nose pegs for me. Since they never cleaned the lenses for me, I cleaned them gently with professional cloth and eyeglasses solution at home, and then noticed that there were several tiny dings "etched" on the glasses behind the nose peg on the right lens, which most likely was caused by the adjustments at the store. I called and talked to Danielle and then the new manager, also named Danielle. They didn't ask to see the glasses and just denied any wrong doing. They even blamed it on me! The manager said that it was over 30 days and there was nothing that they could do. Actually, it was already over 30 days at the third appointment! She said she would send me a check of $50 plus the polish fee since I finally picked the pair of glasses without polish. She even said "take it or leave it". I am stuck with a pair of heavy glasses that's still over $500 after her offer. I still have not used this pair of glasses after 16 months because of the weight pulling on my nose, dinged glass, and bad vibe. read more

I had a great experience here. I'm new to wearing glasses and wasn't sure what I wanted. The staff were really helpful in picking out my glasses. I have needed to get them adjusted a couple of times and they were really accommodating. They can get really busy on the weekends. If you go during the week it is pretty quiet and I will say that the service is a bit better on a weekday. They are open until 6pm or 7pm depending on the night so it is possible to go after work. read more

LensCrafters has a new location. They used to be near Macy's on the first floor, but now they are on the second floor near the Aveda store. They had to move due to the construction taking place, and the new location is very pretty and Covid safe. My son has to get his first set of glasses and had his eyes set on a particular Ray-Ban frame. We have VSP insurance, and though LensCrafters is out-of- network for us, we still went there because they carry the largest selection of Ray-Bans in the area. One we arrived, the staff was careful to allow only a set number of people in the store. They immediately took our temperatures. After we passed the temperature check (always a relief), they gave us a tray for holding any glasses we wanted to try on. Since they sanitize the glasses and trays on a regular basis, they told us to turn in our tray and glasses to them when we were finished. We found the frames we wanted and sat down with an employee who looked up our VSP insurance to give us a quote. The discount just wasn't enough, so we ended up purchasing our glasses at an in-network provider. Take note: when we did go to a chosen in-network provider, we found out LensCrafters put a hold on our insurance. That was super annoying, because it took a few calls to the right people at VSP to get the hold off our account. Ummm...what's up with that? Is that allowed? I really need to remember to check reviews before scheduling an eye exam.... This was not a good experience based on poor customer service. I arrived early for my appointment. When I entered, there were 3 employees sitting and chatting. They kept me waiting for my appointment when there was clearly nobody else having an eye exam. They seemed perfectly content doing whatever they wanted, which could have been completed before or after my eye exam. The person who completed my pre-exam seemed incompetent. I walked in the store wearing glasses and they looked at me and asked if I wore glasses. When they took measurements, they were unconcerned with the placement of my face against the equipment. The time with the eye doctor was fine, but due to the rest of the staff, I really regret having my eye exam at lens crafters. read more

I was so excited to be able to get in for an eye exam and contacts. Dr. Rokosz was very nice and outstanding. I ended up purchasing a new pair of glasses and contacts. NOW this is where the problem begins. I understand associates wanting to leave right when their day ends, but when a customer is there purchasing items you don't rush through the order...because that's when mistakes happen. I have two different prescriptions for my eyes and my contacts were delivered today only for my right eye...what sense does that make? And now I am not even able to contact anyone to correct their mistake? I am very upset and this is NOT acceptable. Why would they order only contacts for my right eye, I have two eyes...Noemi was too busy focusing on wanting to get me out the door. This is my usual Lenscrafters location, which I use out of convenience despite being outside of the VSP network (they take care of all the reimbursements and charge you the discounted price there, which simplifies the process). As others have noted, the optometrists are great, but the experience is hurt by the amount of waiting between different steps in the eye exam process. Therefore, I can really only make appointments here for after work as I can't be certain of how long the entire process will take. Due to its location within a mall, this LensCrafters always seems to be a bit busier than other ones I've visited as well. Overall -- convenient place to get your eye exam and order contacts and/or glasses, but be prepared to spend some time waiting. read more

I must share that the management of this Lens Crafters is poor. The first man I worked with was ending his shift & was then bumped to 3 other associates b4 completing my order. A good manager would have INSISTED finishing with a customer before leaving~period. Unprofessional. There was a blonde girl that was non emotive & unable finish the process. More training needed perhaps? I was told I would receive a text when glasses were ready. I did not. I called to inquire and was immediately interrupted & asked for my cell # to call me back. I went into the store for pick up & noticed glasses looked a little crooked. Asked the blonde girl to adjust them. She said it was just the tortoise shell design and not really crooked. My son had to repurchase a pair of glasses he lost at school. I reordered a pair for him as the ones he originally received were approximately 2 months old. I had specifically requested to have the replacements sent his dorm In Carbondale when ready. The new glasses were delivered to my home instead of his address at school! I had to drive the new pair down to school as he was in desperate need for them. We were so upset about the mixup, the district manager was to send $75 for their screw up. Never got a check for $75, never a follow up phone call for an apology. Update to January 2021, apparently all new staff, the district manager is new as well. No one knows anything about this problem we've had. So, guess what? They apologized, said no check will be sent to us because too much time has passed(I guess they haven't heard that there is a pandemic). However, they offered $75 discount towards a future pair of ridiculously expensive glasses! No thank you was my response. If I could give this incompetent company 0 stars it would still be too nice of a rating. They are not in the business of fixing a problem they've created. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITTH THIS STORE!!! I ordered progressive lenses for my new frames. When my glasses came in they called me and I picked them up. When I tried them on I asked to make sure they tested the lenses and that they were progressives because they didn't seem to be similar to my old frames. She assured me she did and that they were. After a few days of wearing them it was clear to me something was wrong. I brought them back in and she again assured me they were progressives and she even marked the zones with a marker. She argued with me for 15 minutes that everything was fine. I asked her to go into the back and test them and she finally agreed to. Guess what? They were single vision lenses. This location has terrible quality control that starts with incompetent management and flows down to incompetent employees. This location needs corporate to come in and clean house from top to bottom. There's no saving this location as it stands today. read more

I recently switched from my old eye doctor to this Lenscrafters because they accept my insurance. I was pleasantly surprised with their services. It's easy to make an appointment online and they're open on the weekends, which is a huge plus. When you arrive for your appointment, they check the overall health of your eye and they always let you know if a specific test is not covered in the general eye exam and how much it costs. Dr. Carda is really nice and professional and answered all my questions. They also have a great repair service center, which can fix or adjust just about anything on your glasses, whether you bought it from there or not. My only complaint about this Lenscrafters (located in Northbrook Court mall) is that they do get really busy and are always running late on appointments. Even though the actual eye exam takes 10 minutes, expect to be there an hour-- from waiting for an assistant to take you in back and perform the preliminary eye tests, to waiting in the room for the eye doctor, to getting samples of contacts, and checking out. read more

I placed an order for contacts on April 7. Two weeks later when I hadn't received them, I called to follow up. They didn't know where they were so they said they would call me back. Someone from the store called me back, addressing me by mispronouncing my last name repeatedly. He wouldn't let me speak. Interrupted me repeatedly. He said they put another order in and it would be another 5-10 business days. I told him this was unacceptable and I need them overnighted. He said this wasn't possible and essentially hung up on me. Though we all know it is part of a large chain, this particular location of LensCrafters feels more like a higher end boutique. The service is exceptional and the store is clearly going above and beyond to comply with CDC COVID-19 recommendations. If you are really lucky, maybe Hulon will assist you when you stop by the store. With the most wonderful energy, exacting standards, and helpful attitude, Hulon successfully adjusted and rescued THREE pairs of glasses that I thought were lost causes. I wish I could give their store zero stars!! Three of us came in to get glasses but only two of us actually did. My order was canceled with no reason or notification to me whatsoever! Only found out when one of my daughters glasses were done incorrectly and we had to come in to get them fixed. Prescription is .5/.5 they did .5/5.0. Should count our blessings the other order was processed correctly! We never received any apologies or explanation as to why. They have a very limited selection, they are over priced and their staff is lacking. Don't waste your time!! read more

The customer service is horrendous- literally arguing with me over the name of my insurance company, then I ask if doctor is running on time and am assured he is. 45 minutes later, still waiting. When I ask again, the same obnoxious manager tells me snarkily that now he's running way behind, but it's because of some "emergency". And he couldn't tell me before because he just found out (total lie- he was behind the counter the entire time where I was sitting and nobody said anything to him). This location and General Manager Pam are just awful. Paid $679 for glasses a few short months ago - almost 3 to be exact. Went in hoping to get a scratch removed even if I had to pay for it. Was also planning on buying a new pair of glasses today as my prescription has changed. Pam told me that since I did not buy the additional protection plan for $39 dollars there was nothing she could do. I said that I was not offered it. She said that I was offered it not once but twice. I asked her what made her so sure. She said the girl who waited on me is real good at offering it. I asked was she (Pam) here and knew this to be absolutely true. She just said she was. Good logic don't you think ? Morale of the story - Lens crafters lost a $1000 from me today. Completely unprofessional staff. They refused to send over my daughters prescription over to another facility - placed a hold on our insurance approval and that way we could not order new glasses. I called and requested to release the hold but to no avail. I had given my daughters glasses to them- they completely ruined them and she could not wear them at all. I paid over 400$ for glasses which my 9 year old can not use and I am being shuttled between their Northbrook and Vernon hills locations. I will never waste money or time on these folks. They are only professional when they bill your insurance once something is wrong you can't even get to talk to anyone - walking into the store was equally useless. read more

Lenscrafters made a set of reading glasses for me that just didn't work. They checked and it was correctly cut. In the end the prescription from an outside doctor was wrong and yet they replaced the lens for free. No problem. I was so impressed I bought the other two glasses that I needed there, distance and sunglasses. Their customer support meant they got another $800 of sales for my complicated lenses. I brought my glasses in and when I was trying to explain to the associate what was wrong he kept interrupting me and proceeded to tell me to listen and "take this journey with me". Like what? Honestly deserves 0 stars just because of the assistant manager. I went there around a week ago and ordered glasses from there. He was very snobby and rude. Treated an older man who was there to pick up an order as if he was a child and just overall being rude to this man. I have never bought glasses from this location, however... While on vacation, my daughter left her glasses on the bed in our hotel, where her father promptly sat on them, twisting the frame. I tried to get in to our optometrist to try to repair the frames but he has such terrible hours, that unless I pulled my daughter out of school and myself out of work, there was no way I'd make it. So, I told my husband to go to the nearest lenscrafters and see if they could do anything. The technician bent the frame back into shape within thirty seconds! Not only that, but my daughter was given an eyeglass case (a really nice hard shell case, not a flimsy fabric or vinyl one) free of charge. The best my optometrist would do was a cheap plastic case that broke by the time we got home. I've been satisfied with Lenscrafters in the past, but because of the excellent service, I think we'll be going to the Northbrook location next time we need glasses. read more

Set up an appointment online. Despite arriving early and filling out the paperwork ahead of time, I'm still waiting to see an eye doctor 30 minutes after my scheduled time. Staff had barely acknowledged me, except to take my name and ask me to wait around, 10 minutes after I arrived. We did not get a greeting. We finally found someone to help after hanging around 30 mins in the store. The sales rep tried to put me into pricy lens without even asking if I would like to do so. He did not know what he is doing, does not provide a solution when we found out the frames are defected. Worst part, after we finally left the store and found a way much store(also LensCrafters, believe it or not), we found out he used my eye care insurance so we had to call Aetna and clarify everything. It was my husband's first experience getting an eye exam and glasses. At first the staff and doctor were very nice and welcoming to us. However, we had multiple issues with the quality of the glasses. First, the prescription was too strong. After a few weeks, they adjusted the lenses so the prescription was perfect but we noticed there were scratches on the new lenses and they forgot to include the original Burberry lens cloth. We immediately brought it back and experienced an incredibly rude and condescending assistant manager (Lori?) who refused to address the scratch nor replace the lens cloth that was originally included and ultimately refunded the purchase rather than fix the problem. We were so offended by her attitude and poor service. It is such a shame that the staff works so hard to deliver a great service but this assistant manager completely ruined the entire experience for us. Someone on her level should not treat customers this way and as a result we will not be returning to this store. read more

We went there for my boss' eyeglasses. My boss brought a frame to put a prescription glass on it. That said it will be ready in 5 to 7 days. 2 weeks passed no calls.. to make the story short, they lost my boss' glasses! They were gone! The manager was frantic and berating his employees for the confusion in who was helping what customer. The customers seemed impatient, the manager wasn't so polite to them either. I waited for someone to ask me if I needed help. When someone finally did, the manager heard that I needed an adjustment, and before the employee could even respond the manager snapped at me and said, "no that will be a long wait." I felt really uncomfortable and embarrassed for asking for help. I'm relieved that I am a diehard Four Eyes customer, I only went because it's a pretty emergent fix and I'm from out of town. But alas, I'll have to wait and hope my glasses stay together. read more

Had a phenomenal SERVICE experience at this location and I so rarely Yelp but my first thought was "how can I praise these people somewhere, ANYwhere!" Standouts were Vita -- who was a champ throughout the sudden rush -- and Dr. Goldberg -- who was so easy-going, helpful, and "on the level." I haven't been to this store in more than a decade but wanted to get my eyes checked out ahead of a big trip and made the last-minute call with low expectations. Called Thursday afternoon, they got me in a few hours later. They took my EyeMed, no problem, I got through the pre-screen fast, exam was fast and informative. I opted to get my eyes dilated for free with my insurance rather than the 40$ fast scan so after the first exam, while my vision was getting blurrier, Vita walked me through the lens options. I tried to cut costs by opting out of the anti-glare treatment and Vita diplomatically told me that since I already had it, I would definitely miss it. She really tried ;) But she respected my desires and left it off. The order went in and I went back into Dr. Goldberg for the dilation tests. I asked her if the anti-glare was a gimmick and she's like "no! You will definitely miss it especially when driving and staring at computers all day!" But she told me they could redo it (within 90 days?!) for just the cost of the anti-glare ... I would just have to wait another hour for the glass to be re-cut at the time. I got out of the dilation exam (all clear!) and got my first round of glasses shortly thereafter (much faster than an hour!) and they were so right...Glare glare everywhere...just under the bright lights of LensCrafters it was bad! I should have trusted Vita to begin with ;) So I decided to stick around and take care of things right then and there. Only problem is they got slammed with customers... People browsing, people picking up glasses, families, two other people who, like me, had to make changes through their insurance because they were changing glasses. I guess they were under-staffed this night (2-3 people) but they did a great job of being as available as they could be to everyone and moving us all along. I didn't mind waiting especially since I felt at this point they were doing me a favor ;) They got my order processed and fixed (they had to fix it with my insurance on a Thursday night!), I went to have a couple drinks in the mall, and when I got back, my upgraded glasses were done and perfect! I walked out the store thrilled that I had decided to get my eyes checked. They did great work and used my existing (5yo) frames! They even called me later because I apparently left 57 cents in the store. That was pretty funny but they sure are thorough over there. Anyway, everyone was lovely and it was a great glasses experience. They were right about everything, didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need -- made great recommendations. Good peeps! Glasses in about an hour -- or 10 days While waiting for my daughter I stopped in at the Lens Crafters and found frames that I liked but didn't have my prescription. They provided a price and I returned with my prescription, went through a fitting -- essentially took a couple hours including the return travel to order the glasses. However, the price they wanted to charge included the "premium lens coating" which was about $60 more expensive. When I asked how long until I received the lens coating I wanted (and was quoted) they responded 10 days. In this world of FEDEX and multiple locations (they did not offer to call any of the other locations even after I spoke to the manager) I left without ordering the glasses. Realized I needed an eye exam and they were able to take me the same day. I saw Dr. B and she was fantastic. Everyone was very understanding and did not push one type of contacts over another, getting a full eye exam, or any of the "extra" stuff. The gentleman that welcomed me and got me ready to see Dr. B was very kind as well. I told him I'd likely buy my contacts from Costco, and he was sweet enough to write up what the price would be for 1 year of contacts with my AAA discount just in case I decided to go with them. I just wish they took my vision insurance, because that eye exam alone was expensive!! read more
