    Everyone there is awesome. Had a few laughs with the doc! Made sure I was comfortable. Wasn't pushy about purchasing frames from them.

My son is looking forward to feeling like a hipster in his new Ray-Bans, and we're thrilled that we were able to utilize our VSP insurance to the fullest. Shopping for glasses at this particular location couldn't have been easier, and it really helped that we came in knowing what we were looking for. They didn't have my son's frames in stock, so they custom ordered them. Since we had to use our VSP insurance, they will go to a VSP lab before being shipped back to the store. It will be well worth the wait, because our insurance saved us a significant amount of money. We saved hundreds. And, no upselling whatsoever. I'm so glad we found this location! The office itself was very clean and Covid safe. They took our temperatures, we filled out a questionnaire, and everyone was wearing masks. We were in and out in no time at all. I'm sorry I forgot the name of the lady who helped us out, because she was amazing and took care of everything for us...including the LensCrafters hold on our VSP account (per prior review). Onsite parking lot. We'll be back for son #2...it's a twin thing!

I only take the time to write a review when a business or staff member goes above and beyond with their customer service and everyone at My Eye Xpert met that expectation and then some! The staff truly does put the customer first and really appreciates our business demonstrated by their actions; therefore, when I received service of this caliber, I show my appreciation by writing a well-deserved review! During this unusual time in history with the Covid-19 pandemic I walked into the My Eye Xpert Office in Gurnee IL for another routine eye exam and I was greeted by warm greetings by Amanda who proceeds to ask me to wash my hands for safety then guide me to massage chairs to enjoy while I await next steps. I am pleasantly surprised and enjoy the wonderful massage for about 15 minutes then I am kindly greeted by Mike who proceeds to complete the pre-tests before I meet with Dr. Jeff. Mike explains each procedure and is very professional and polite as he guides me through each step of each test he performs. Afterwards he leads me back to the massage chairs for a short wait before I am introduced to Dr. Jeff . Of course, I am very happy to enjoy another mini massage, so I happily oblige and enjoy the massage chairs again! Next Dr. Jeff escorts me to the eye exam room where I proceed to get my eye exam. Dr. Jeff is truly a qualified and professional ophthalmologist! Not only does he go through the routine eye tests but he's also extremely personable and very easy to talk to, which is helpful because he thoroughly explains the results of the eye exam in clear in concise manner that's very easy to understand. Dr. Jeff explained the adjustments in my prescription were made to both my contacts and eyeglasses to ensure I understood the changes were made for my good for now and going forward. Clearly, he is highly qualified and knows his field well! After my comprehensive eye exam Dr. Jeff gave me trial contacts to wear home and asked Amanda to help me pick out glasses. I was the last appointment of the day (my appointment was at 6pm) and Amanda patiently helped me pick out not one (1) but two (2) frames even though her shift was over for the day! I never felt rushed to hurry up and pick out my glasses so she can leave and go home in fact she told me to take my time and understood picking out glasses is an important decision! Her patience is undeniable and her customer service is incomparable! In essence, I highly recommend My Eye Xpert in Gurnee IL to anyone looking for a comprehensive eye exam during and post Covid-19 pandemic! The entire staff is AMAZING, customer-focused, helpful, personable, knowledgeable, professional, etc. and they have extremely stylish frames. Check out my selfie of the Elton John frames! My visit to My Eye Xpert was more than eye exam it was an eye experience and more (Not a bad idea for a store name, eh?)! This place couldn't get my glasses right in 3 tries and when they offered me a refund, they also acted like it was my fault! The Manager Beth is the rudest person, she was so mean over the phone. When I went to return the glasses, I didn't get a hello or even an apology for their mistakes!! Never again! I knew I had gone somewhere else for a reason but this time around I will not be back!     I hate to post this, because I'm a longtime customer, and I love the doctors but apparently their…read morepricing policy has changed since the last time I was there. For my yearly eye exam I was charged $10.00 for "wellness" whatever that is, $35.00 for "refraction", $90.00 for "Routine Vision Exam EST" and $150.00 for "SCL Eval Toric." ( I didn't need my eyes dilated, my retinal doctor does that ) When I called for an explanation the staff lady, who is very nice, explained that the $90.00 was for a "glasses" exam and the extra $150.00 is a separate charge for a "contacts" exam. Huh? I think $285.00 for an exam with no issues or problems ( buying my contacts was extra) is pretty crazy, especially seeing that I'm a self pay, not insurance covered. Unfortunately I'll have to look around to find somewhere else for my eye exams . Three stars ..to balance my review out because the doctors are great .

    Well, I'd love to actually be able to give a review of the full experience, however, I've tried…read moreseveral times over a period of 2 weeks to contact them via their own website's contact form, asking 2 simple questions that anyone there could easily answer, but have gotten zero response. No, in this day and age of texting and email, etc., I don't feel it should be a requirement to actually be forced to take time to make a voice-to-voice phone call to get an answer, especially for simple, basic, non-patient-specific questions, when it's so much quicker and easier to just fire off an email and move along with other life matters needing attention. Just happened to come upon Yelp to read all the reviews, and it appears that the customer service (or complete lack thereof) sounds like status quo there. To me, this is a sign of how the business overall is, and a sign that any future dealings with them would result in equal frustration. Something I've already dealt with years ago at Sears Optical at Gurnee Mills... I won't deal with that kind of crap anymore. Lesson has already been learned. In fact, I drive by the place very often in my daily life and it's hard to tell whether they're even still in business; there's almost no signs of life/activity as viewed from the outside. Was looking for a new Optometrist, ah well, back to the search!
