It is now owned by a holding company out of Canada, New Look Vision Group that acquired the US based parent company, Luxury Optical Holdings, that owns Morgenthal Frederics based out of New York City, NY that now owns Blink Optical. This is a national chain of eyeglass stores, not the personal, locally owned wonderful store that it used to be. That is a lot of layers of ownership and impersonal corporations that now own Blink. I was very disappointed in my visit there last week and very frustrated. Poor communication, lack of follow through and the right hand doesn't seem to know what the left hand is doing. Shopping for glasses at this particular location couldn't have been easier, and it really helped that we came in knowing what we were looking for. They didn't have my son's frames in stock, so they custom ordered them. Since we had to use our VSP insurance, they will go to a VSP lab before being shipped back to the store. It will be well worth the wait, because our insurance saved us a significant amount of money. We saved hundreds. And, no upselling whatsoever. I'm so glad we found this location! The office itself was very clean and Covid safe. They took our temperatures, we filled out a questionnaire, and everyone was wearing masks. We were in and out in no time at all. After that you move to a second room, sit in a comfortable chair that rolls so smoothly you wonder if it's actually in touch with the ground or floating via mag lev. I was on my way to WI from Indianapolis when my husband called to tell me I left my overnight bag at home. By that point, I was almost to Chicago (over 3 hours from home) and I had to be somewhere at a certain time for a paid weekend opportunity taking photos of murals in their town. My vision is terrible. And my contacts are supposed to be changed daily. I didn't even have my glasses. I left on a Friday and wouldn't be back until Sunday and usually after more than a day or wear, the contacts start to break down. I absolutely cannot see without them or my glasses and I was traveling alone. I happened by this spot while getting gas and popped in to see if by some chance they might have samples in my prescription and they did!!! To make matters worse if you call to get your prescription they claim they don't have access to email but can fax it! Not sure who has a fax machine sitting at home in 2024. Obviously their intention is to have you come back to pick up this free contact sample two weeks later so they can sell you contacts. AND if you call their office you're greeted by Jasmine who obviously isn't experienced with helping customers, talks over you and is outright rude! And she's apparently their office manager. The whole staff was courteous and professional; however, Dr. Weinstein (the Optimetrist) and Sylvia (the Optician) truly stood out. Dr. Weinstein took extra time and caution to do a complete exam including a skilled slit lamp one as there were a few surprising findings in my vision. She also proved to have a deeper knowledge of retinal pigmented lesions than any Optometrist I've encountered before. Sylvia pushed me to try more frames than I typically would have, if anything trying to downsale me on some, and provided (excellent) advice not solely on the looks of the frame but also the most detailed fit advice for frames that I've had (and I had good opticians before). All of this extra care from their team happened without making me feel rushed in any way, although we were getting perilously close to their closing time. A++ service for both eye health and optics!
