Ok, been eating here for years. It goes through phases where it's pretty good and then not so good. As of our last visit i would say things could be better. The booths are not comfortable. The food is good but a tad overpriced. We waited a long time for a server to take our order. Then, surprise ! They now use this strange catlike robot to deliver the food to the table ( please - this is both hilarious and awful ). First of all - the electronic beast crashed into the back of my 91 year old father's chair giving him a bad startling - apparently the table gps could use some tweaking. The waiter did then manage to show up to actually remove our food from the robot trays to serve us - but, what's the point of this then anyway?? Now, to make matters worse.. while we were eating.. the bellabot kitty came zooming out of nowhere over to our table again. Luckily it didn't whack into my dad this time. I have been to Lemongrass at least 25 times. The wait staff are always good, and the food excellent. However, why can't you get take out right? There is always something missing, or I get overcharged. I've had no chopsticks, no nime chow sauce, the wrong soup. It seems like I need to count every item before I leave! I'm not paid for this. I had a very bad experience with lemongrass. First I called to see if I could pick up curbside because I'm handicapped. They said yes but when I arrived called them and they kept telling me call them when I'm there and repeatedly told them I was in front of the restaurant. Finally the lady screamed at me and said OK! When the person came out to bring the food she repeated we don't do curbside unless you are handicap I had my blue handicap plaque sitting in the window! Something a bit different As my friends so vociferously pointed out to me, Lemongrass is not a Chinese restaurant. It's an Asian Bistro. There are quite of few of the typical little Chinese places around here but not a whole lot of the more diverse Asian restaurants. Rhode Island of course has lots a great seafood but sushi still seems to be rather rare. Of course Lemongrass has all of the usual Chinese dishes like chicken lo mein, king pao chicken and moo goo gai pan but the menu is far more expansive. Some cool, and at least to me unusual things like loc lac, banh hoi, pad thai noodlie thingies and various sushi are also on the menu. My wife and I both have recently developed a taste for sushi and we have been experimenting with raw eel, squid, tuna, salmon, and even flying fish. All of the sushi has been extremely fresh and very tasty and cool. Even the more mundane dishes all all very light and delicious. None of the goopy and heavily saturated with MSG stuff of the more typical take out places. The staff are very pleasant are friendly are seem to enjoy answering our stupid and ignorant questions and go into detail about how each dish is made. Very entertaining and edifying. Rhode Island just doesn't seem to have many places like this and Lemongrass has become our favorite sushi and Asian restaurant. A very cool place when you want something a bit different. read more

Lemongrass RI On my last evening in Rhode Island, I was craving Thai, so i asked Yelp and my RI friend to see which of the local Thai restaurants in Warwick were credible as authentic places. The debate between us waged for a good 10 minutes until we decided on Lemongrass, a quaint restaurant not far from where we were located in a small community strip block of restaurants. I only ordered takeout, since my friend and I wanted to watch Monday Night Football together. I looked up the menu online and it took me a good 10 minutes for me to make myself decide on what I wanted. I needed carbs to help my body recover from the trauma and also wanted to personally celebrate running 2 marathons in 2 days in New England, getting closer to my inevitable goal of rocking a marathon in all 50 states. With that said, I ordered 3 entrees, which averaged about $9.00/each. The containers that it came in seemed small, but was loaded with food and yummy goodness. I ordered the pad thai, the combination noodle with chicken, and the Lemongrass curry with shrimp. I did love the curry right off the bat. I was bummed that I did not ask for an order of rice, since the extra carbs would do me good. The pad Thai was good and average. I probably would have been better off dinning in the restaurant, but the NFL game was waiting for us. I actually had to mix the pad Thai with the curry to see what would happen when I did mix the two together. Maybe it was just me, but the combination of aromas and tastes invigorated me and it excited me to the point where it was just too good to be just good. Last, but not least, the combination noodle dish with beef was not eaten that night in conjunction with the NFL game, since I got real full with the 1st two entrees. I did save it for breakfast and lunch on the flights I caught to go home. The combination noodle platter was pretty tasty @ 35,000 feet, let me tell you. The restaurant itself wasn't busy, but the interior was decorated quilted nice. Really wished I could have dined in though. The service I received while getting my take out order was good and swift. I had sushi for the first time here and it was great. Delivered on a boat even! Usually though I order take out from here. Last night it was lo mein and General Tso's chicken. Total price $19 and easily feeds two people with a big appetite. The inside has been redone and has a large bar up front. I would recommend eating in or taking out. I went to Lemongrass a few days ago while on a visit back to RI. Most people outside of RI think of Italian Food, Ice Cream, Chowder, Quahogs and Lobster Rolls when they think of RI...well at least those who have actually heard of RI that is! Add Nime Chow to the list because Melissa S was right on in her review, they are outstanding as was the rest of their Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian and Chinese cuisine. I was also impressed at how attentive the wait staff is (xie xie Terry!). Even the manager (owner?) stopped by our table to be sure everything was satisfactory. The other nice touch is that a meal here will not require you to take out a second mortgage...though if they don't figure out this debt ceiling thing, you may not be able to afford to take out a mortgage for anything....but that's another story! read more

Best Nime Chow in Rhode Island, there I said it. I come back time and time again for it. I was so pleased when they added the sushi bar now I can get the best of both worlds when I order take out. Another pro is their prices are not over the top. Take out and dine in service is always pretty quick, I don't think I have ever waited to be seated. I have noticed some comments about rude service but I do not think rude is the case, if anything it is a language barrier with some of the staff but the owner or manager who I always see working has always been very kind and friendly. I have never waited too long for a bill or for my food. Super impressed with most of the food. The sushi is not my favorite but it is really good. This place has gone downhill in recent years. Don't get me wrong, it's not terrible but it just isn't what it used to be. I always have to check to-go orders for the correct items. The food is NEVER consistent. It's like they just whip together whatever is closest to the recipe that day. It's also way saltier than usual. Last night I found a hair in my fried rice... I get it, mistakes happen... and it's a first for me there. But it turned me off even more than I originally was. Not to mention I asked for sticky wing sauce on the side and they gave me a container with maybe a half ladle of sauce and charged $2 for it. I've been going to this place since they opened years ago . Food & service were always great . Food is still good but service was awful on New Year's Eve . Bartender " Lee" is the worst person that I've ever encountered in a restaurant. At 9:40pm Lee Ignored me & my gf as we were standing at bar in front of two open seats ( she put two empty wine glasses & a brown bag full fortune cookies ) kitchen closes at 10pm we were told by the ladies working take out . I finally asked Lee " can you take care of us ?" She yelled " fine , as she grabbed two menus & slammed them down in front of us . Mind you the bar was full & many people were eating & drinking . So we never sat down we just told her how awful she was & we left . Then I went back in to speak to a manager , I told Lee to show her manager how she gave us menus & she slammed menus down in front of her manager. Then she told me " to go do another line " I said first of all , I ( we) do not do any drugs & I don't know this miserable bartender Lee from a hole in the wall . So sad to be writing this but I was really bummed yesterday upon ordering one of my favs from here - the yum yum salad. This WAS my favorite place for that salad as well as the shooting star roll. However, it seems they have lost attention to detail since my yum yum salad I ordered to go (after having a drink with friends at their bar) included a huge fly in it. I was utterly disgusted but mostly disappointed because I was really looking forward to eating the salad. I returned to the restaurant with the salad and the manager did refund my $. However, it doesn't take away from the lack of paying attention from them and the bad experience I've been left with. I went to Lemongrass a couple of years ago after the urging of my co-workers. The food was awful, and my lunch combo came with chicken wings which still had feathers attached. Yuck... Since then, I've been going to the nail salon next door every other week for about 2 years. I decided one afternoon to stop in for salad and nime chow. Nime chow was crazy greasy and flavorless. Pretty disappointing. The salad was supposed to be accompanied with ginger dressing (which is usually one of my all time favorites.) Sadly it tasted a lot like oil and soy sauce. I have a soft-spot it heart for Lemongrass. I gladly drive by other, closer Asian cuisine spots in this part of the state. The sushi is delicious. Try the tempura sweet potato roll, it's amazing! The combination of sweetness from the potato and the saltiness of the soy sauce perfectly compliment. The staff is friendly and efficient. The ambience is relaxed and the restaurant is clean. Sure, I could go to other, more upscale restaurants in Providence or down south, but Lemongrass provides quality and fresh food, had a great location, and isn't overly pricey. High quality food - not cheap - good things usually aren't. We enjoy Lemongrass each time we go. Usually we do takeout but it's also a nice place to sit and eat (recently renovated and expanded). They offer a wide variety of options with both traditional Chinese and some Japanese cuisine. The sushi offerings and preparation is over the top and simply FANTASTIC! If you are eating there at the restaurant, I highly recommend you order the poo-poo plater. Not only is it stuffed with scrumptious finger food like, barbecue chinese ribs, steak teriyaki, chicken fingers, crab rangoons, breaded and fried shrimp and more, but the presentation is over the top as well. The kids really get a kick out of the little flame that the center piece has. Funny and yummy. One last thing. The food is fresh and even the fried foods aren't greasy (very rare with oriental food). This review is based on take out only. So, the order was correct and ready fast. I tried the avocado salad, miso soup, veggie roll, and veggie vietnamese roll. Avo salad was just a bunch of sliced avo and some cucumber underneath. The veggie roll was as expected, 6 pieces, pretty straight forward. The miso soup was super standard & fine but they didn't give me a spoon! The veggie vietnamese roll thing was good but i have had better. I order some version of this thing every chance I get... rice paper w/ yummy veggies inside--yes please. Anyway this one was alright but really long on the noodles inside and light on the veggies. Very disappointed! I ordered dinner from a waitress then it was delivered by a robot. The meal on the dumb bot's tray was incorrect so I had to wait ten minutes to get a real waitress to fix my order. When I was leaving the restaurant the annoying robot came out of nowhere from behind. I almost slipped and fell because of the stupid thing. The people at the three tables near me were upset about the stupid robot delivering the food too. I usually order take out from this place 2-4 times a week but will not be returning. Lemongrass is always my go to and sometimes it is spot on and other times it is a miss. This most recent visit let me down some because I know how good it can be. The crispy wings lacked flavor and this is one of those items that keep me coming back. Sometimes they are encrusted with this salty goodness and this order seemed to lack seasoning. They were still good, but I was still a bit disappointed in them. I also got a wonton soup which is served with pea pods and green onion... both soooo delicious in that broth. Finally, I got the sizzling plate. It was so hot that I could hear it sizzling from across the restaurant. It was absolutely delicious however it was 80% onions and barely any meat. A bit of a let down since the proportions were so off. To wash it all down, we both got a Thai iced tea.. it took an exceptionally long time to get since she said they had to brew it fresh.
