This review is based on a recent visit and a couple of visits some time ago. In between those visits the vision for the conversion of Tallahassee Mall to The Center of Tallahassee has ended mid completion because the person with the vision passed away. The covered concert space across from this restaurant hasn't seen any performances in ages. Dreamland BBQ that abutted the venue has come and gone and Lemongrass has changed owners. What the original owners probably had hoped would be a destination dining spot has become a hidden restaurant down inside the old mall footprint. You have to know it's in there, that you can drive into that center of everything and that there are parking spaces down in there. I suppose they get some business from people going to the nail spa or the cut and shave shop nearby. I think I saw a fitness center there too. Oh yeah, with the demise of the original vision for The Center of Tallahassee, it now has a bunch of State of Florida employees as a captive audience for lunch. The original Lemongrass was Thai and Vietnamese food. With the new owners there is now a separate Indian food menu as well. I remember enjoying the Thai dishes in the past and the Indian dish I chose this time was tasty. I asked for medium spice level and I have to give them credit for actually spicing it. So many seem afraid to actually make a dish spicy. I ordered a Mango Lassi after the spice level started to build in my mouth and on my tongue so I could mitigate the burn a little bit. Milk products never fail me. The service was laconic. The one waiter seemed more interested in what was on his phone. He had trouble understanding my English and I had trouble understanding his English so I was pleased that I got what I ordered. The food came out in good time but I wouldn't count on much attention being paid after you get your food. The restaurant is showing wear and tear. Vinyl baseboards are missing or drooping. Booths are comfortable but worn. In summation, the food is fine but there's not much going on that would get me to come back. Kind of a shame. That whole area down in the center of The Center of Tallahassee had such promise. read more

First, They were able to accommodate a large group of us on Valentine's Day which is very nice of them. All their staffs are very friendly. Our food came out at a timely manner considered we are a group of 17 people. Most if not all the Indian dishes are super good , no complain there. As for the Asian dishes, hum all need some improvement, all were below average. I will not order any Chinese dishes there. Even the Pho is just ok. Nothing special. I went to Lemongrass expecting to have some really great Thai and/or Vietnamese food, however when I walked in--the smell of Indian spices confused me, but it smelt great! Today, I was craving Vietnamese so despite the smell and the new side menu of Indian food I order Bahn Mi. This is a restaurant that says this is Asian fusion, so it should be great right? No it was okay but nothing you couldn't get for better at Paris Bahn Mi. I'd give it a 5/10. The veggies and meat were okay but not seasoned right and barely pickled. My friend order Pad Thai, which I tried, and it was quite awful (3.5/10). He had order it spicy and it didn't even burn a bit. Lacking any flavor, which is surprising for Pad Thai. My other friend order Garlic Naan and Chicken Curry, both were very good (seems to be this place is for sure transitioning mostly to Indian food as the other Asian dishes were lackluster and sad. The service was horrible, and I hate to be mean. Food took a long time to come out and didn't come out all at once for our other friends, which isn't always a problem for me but it was this time. It seemed like my Bahn Mi was made first and when I got it, the meat was cold and the sauce had already made the croissant-like bread soggy. It ended up making a huge mess because the bread was falling apart. My other friend with the Pad Thai had the same problem, it was cold. The Chicken Curry came out piping hot and great, my friend rated it an 8/10 but I never tasted it. Our server also would not check up on us and we waited 30-45 minutes for him to come give us the check (after he had taken majority of our empty plates away), which we actually had to find him because he was talking to other servers. Apparently there is new ownership, so I can't speak on old ownership but I will give you this experience. I am not sure if the old owner was Vietnamese or Thai, or if the workers were mostly that as well in the past, but I do believe the new owner is Indian and all of the waitstaff I saw visibly were Indian. Of course I don't know if they still have the old cooks and the food has always been this way, only have old reviews to go off of. Overall, I wouldn't come here for Vietnamese or Thai. It would probably be one of the worst places to have those foods to be honest. It seems like they may be trying to become an Indian only restaurant, or at least they should. Which is weird to not put any notifications anywhere? Change the sign? Not sure what would be best. I would try this place again, but only order the Indian food, seems to be what is best now here. read more

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, and a friend of mine told me she was not impressed with it. I tried it anyway. The inside had kind of a funny (non-food like) smell, but I got used to it quickly. I ordered a clay pot dish, and it was amazing! The soup was also delicious. What an amazing and delicious restaurant. We ordered the fresh summer rolls with shrimp for appetizers. The rolls were great and the peanut dipping sauce *chef's kiss*. For entrees we ordered the Vermicelli noodles with pork. The dish was filled with so many different delicious flavors, fresh mint, sprouts and cilantro. We had both a mix of fish sauce and peanut sauce mixed in. We also ordered the chicken curry with rice. The curry was also delicious filled with chunks of chicken, potatoes and carrots. read more

We have always liked Lemongrass for both their Vietnamese and Thai food. However, after last nights meal I don't think we will be getting Thai food from them. The delivery service was running a little late, so we expected the food to be warm rather than hot. What we did but expect was the food to be cold. As though the order was cooked immediately and sat on the counter even though they knew they had to wait for a driver. The Krab Rangoon, which I am a sucker for, was not very good. The wrappers were soggy and the filling was cold and lacked flavor. The Vietnamese spring rolls were actually warm and those were tasty. The Pad See Ewe with chicken was flavorless. The portion was very tiny: it only filled up 1/2 the container. So there was very little of everything, including noodles and chicken. And what was there was totally lacking in flavor. I would have been hard pressed to tell you it was pad see ewe if I hadn't ordered it. The Thai Basil with beef was also lacking in flavor. We asked for medium spice, but this had zero spice and zero flavor. What it did have was a lot of green peppers. I mean a LOT of green peppers. Virtually no beef: I counted 5 pieces in the dish. The Pineapple Fried Rice with pork was also flavorless. There were only 4 cubes of pineapple and 4 cashews. There was pork, which tasted fine, but the rest of the dish simply wasn't good. Not only did we not finish our dinners, we didn't keep the leftovers as we had planned. This place has the best duck in town, in my opinion. I've tried other places but their roasted duck is juicy and delicious and with a yummy duck sauce which you can get two servings of it if you ask :) I usually pair it with the papaya salad. I got the Korean wings and Pho with chicken and meatballs to go. The food was delicious. The wings smell hot/spicy but they are sweet and savory. Moreover, the customer service was good and the employees are nice and respectful. This place is a hidden gem. 10/10 I would definitely recommend. If I am not satisfied with an experience, I will typically mark it up to a human one-off day...because we all have them and who wants to be remembered for our less than best moment? Exactly. I try to share concerns directly with the source to facilitate improvement instead of "just complaining". But sometimes, you cannot get the manager or anyone to call you back. This factor added to the equation changes the process. And so, here is the story... On May 28th, 2024, I found myself at work chained to my desk for a virtual training (camera required) with a bad case of the h'angries. Based on a recommendation from a co-worker, I ordered Thai food from Lemongrass. I was ravenously salivating by the time I received the food. Aromas emanating from the packaging promised orgasmic reward! The first bite initially did not disappoint. I closed my eyes and focused intently on identifying the expected flavor profiles. I swallowed the first few small bites of the mastication in my mouth and made an entirely unpleasant discovery. A hair...trailing up my throat, tickling my uvula, and wound around the remaining mush in my mouth...picture this... In 1973, junior actress Linda Blair starred in the film adaptation of Novelist William Peter Blatty's 1971 novel, The Exorcist. One of the most well-known scenes involves a batch of pea soup mixed with oatmeal forcefully discharged through plastic tubing to appear as projectile vomit from Blair's little girl face. This was me, sans the little girl face and the plastic tubing, also not green in color...more of a pasty pasta with reddish-orange tint. Remarkably, the hair was not immediately expelled and required a finger in the throat to remove. Once the moment passed, I considered, nay, hoped the hair was mine and immediately set to inspecting the rest of the dish certain I would...not...find...more hair...but I did...either one very long hair or several long hairs wrapped...stirred? into the pasta...stuck in the pasta...entirely and certainly not mine. The nausea and lack of appetite lingered for days. In fact, typing this now has guaranteed the grocery for dinner supplies is not required tonight. SO, the rest of the story is as follows... Once I could speak without gagging, I called the restaurant. An employee politely answered, and I politely asked to speak to the Manager. I offered no details as to why I wanted to speak with the Manager. The employee advised the Manager was otherwise engaged at the moment but would call me back. I provided my phone number for call back. When I'd not heard back by the end of my workday, I located an email address on Lemongrass' website (info@lemongrasstally.com) and sent the following email twice with the photo attached: To whom it may concern, Please view attached photograph; either a very long dark hair or several hairs are wound up in the noodles. Thought you might care to know. I do know that accidents happen but there is a lot of hair in the food. Both emails bounced back with the advisement that the email was not valid (yessss...I checked the spelling...not my first day on "You've Got Mail!"). Today is June 7, 2024. Loved the texture and taste for the crunchy skin. The lychee Boba tea was delicious! The spring rolls are a must try as well. Down side: Subpar flavor on basic like fried rice. At minimum warm food is a must for hot dishes and initially when I ordered my entree with fried rice the rice was hard or stale and cold in the center like poorly microwaved leftovers. Good food and good feels. All cuisines at one place. They had Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese.We were a group of 10 and everyone liked their food. I had Roasted Duck and Pho and it was amazing. The portions for the vegetarian were a tad bit small and not filling as one dish per person. It seemed a little pricy for the vegetarian dishes like pineapple fried rice and even Pad Thai. Came in for the first time and had lunch. They have a great lunch menu with very reasonable prices. Started with some appetizers consisting of spring rolls, dumplings, and bao buns. They were all fantastic. This was my first time ever having bao but it won't be the last, they were delicious. I had the pho special which had the following meats, meatballs, flank steak, and eye round steak. Other ingredients included in the pho are noodles, cilantro, red and green onions, and your choice of beef or veggie broth. This was my first time having pho and I loved it. I sat at the bar and the server Zack was very knowledgeable while explaining the menu to me. I definitely plan to return one day for dinner because they offer many additional menu items that are not on the lunch menu however my server did advise me you can order dinner items during lunch time. Went to this place for lunch today with a friend. We got the Summer Rolls which were delicious with the dipping sauce. My friend got chicken pho and I got the chicken bánh mì which were both great! The bánh mì's French baguette is crispy but soft and the flavors on the inside feel refreshing. My friend's chicken pho was filled to the brim and couldn't eat all of it so she took some home. Afterwards I got a mocha bubble tea (better than I expected and would get again for sure) and strawberry mochi with vanilla ice cream filling. The mochi came with caramel glaze on the bottom of the plate and whipped cream in the middle. There was only one server working but you would've never noticed because she came to check on us often. I was looking for a good Thai spot in Tally. I looked at their website for the menu and ordered ahead. Their menu online had my chicken drunken noodle for dinner as $13. However when I picked my food up it was $15. I pointed this out to one of the staff and she apologized but did not correct the price. The food was unfortunately bland and very oily with an absence of spice. I probably will not be eating here again. read more

The Centre of Tallahassee (former Tallahassee Mall) is now a culinary (and otherwise) ghost town so it's easy to forget about one of our town's better Asian options, Lemongrass, for outstanding Vietnamese, Thai and sushi. We had a great dinner there last night, starting with excellent spring rolls (filled with ground chicken) and terrific Yum Yum Shrimp (large and crispy with a delicious sauce over a bed of chopped lettuce; similar to Bonefish's Bang Bang Shrimp but better). My Drunken Noodles with Shrimp was the best I've had anywhere, with gigantic soft noodles, lots of veggies and large shrimp, perfectly sauces and seasoned. I'd get this again (and again). My wife didn't love her Clay Pot (layers of brown rice, veggies and shrimp), but it improved with some requested extra sauce. Another plus, they serve Proof Brewery's 850 and Mango Wit on tap -- in a 16 oz glass. Perfect to wash everything down. Also, FYI, Lemongrass serves the best Bahn Mi sandwiches in town (and just $6). read more

I've been to Lemongrass quite a few times. They definitely have the best pho in town. Their pho has a clean but delectable taste that doesn't rely too heavily on aromatics (even though normally I do love strong spices in my pho). There's a multitude of options to pair with the pho broth, including several vegan/vegetarian options. The price for the pho might seem high, but you cannot beat the value - I'm always pleasantly stuffed after eating here! Even when I ordered their pho for takeout, their portions were equally generous. Their vermicelli salad is also delicious. The chicken that accompanied the noodles was cooked to perfection and the fish sauce brought everything on the plate together. The last item I've had here was their chicken curry. It tasted good but the butter flavor dominated the dish too much in my opinion. Overall, I can't recommend Lemongrass enough (especially their pho)! read more
