Since moving to Tally my wife has been craving Mongolian Beef and good Pad Thai. When I saw it on the menu I ordered to surprise her last night. It was awful - she said it was the worst ever. The beef and sauce were both grey! The only flavor was SALT! Ok so one bad dish but she still had the Pad Thai. I was one giant lump. No flavor. And you needed a microscope to find the chicken! Side salad was good and the bottled miso dressing was the best tasting item of the whole meal. BTW, did I mention I paid $60 for food I basically had to throw out as soon as I unboxed it. This is one of my daughter's favorite restaurants, though my husband and I had never tried it before. We decided to take the plunge, though I wasn't up for anything heavy. We called in the order for pick-up. I simply ordered a "kid's meal" of teriyaki chicken and mashed potatoes, plus veggies. My daughter had the beef yaki soba, which is her absolute favorite; my husband ordered the crispy duck. We also ordered edamame, shrimp rolls, and avocado rolls. Everything was tasty. My husband enjoyed the duck; though the duck looked a bit too "crispy" to me, it was tasty :-). Of note, I had a sampling of my daughter's meal, which was a very generous portion. The ramen wheat noodles were perfectly seasoned! Everything was really fresh tasting. Shrimp and grits are on the menu as well - who would have thought? We liked it a lot when they were on Thomasville Rd. Then they moved to a smaller location on Bannerman near Publix and the quality had gone down quite a bit. The ingredients were not ad good and it was lacking in flavor. If they changed chefs they should bring the old ones back. read more

I came for lunch and started with Thom Kah soup- chicken. I had asked for it medium and it was delicious. Much better than at their other location. I ordered the Res Curry with chicken - medium and the spring rolls (since I already had soup). The rolls were good and crispy. My green curry was superb. I'll be visiting them for lunch again. My dining partner had miso soup which he said was just OK. He also ordered a bento box - it looked like chicken. It came with tempura vegetables. The batter rather thick and not light and crunchy like the tempura at Kiku's. I will stay with the Thai dishes and try some sushi next time. read more

Interested in some Thai food or some Chinese food? Try Siam Bistro. Located just off Thomasville Rd near Killearn Lakes, it's easy to miss. Very nicely decorated and with very friendly staff. Wife and I started with gyoza. We normally ordered ours steamed, but it's only offered pan fried. We said what the heck. Wow are we glad to we did, it was wonderful!!! Dinner the wife ordered Chinese; Mongolian beef. That caught my attention because it's was $28 bucks, almost twice as much as a normal dinner. There was a reason, there was enough for two, the menu should reflect. That being said, it was delicious. I ordered drunken noodles with chicken (mild) and it too was delicious. We both had ice tea, which was fresh. Service was great. He kept coming back inquiring. The only issue, which pee's off the wife, is the server asking me if I want more tea and not her. WOW. I can NOT say enough GOOD things about this place! I ordered several things on my first visit in order to test this place out. I am a true lover of Thai and have had Thai food all over the US. This place BLEW ME AWAY. I came in on a Saturday at 630p. Apparently several others had the same idea because it filled up immediately upon my arrival in less than ten minutes. I saw only two servers and got worried it might take a while and I didn't have a lot of time. My lovely server Katie came over and placed my large order right away and the kitchen got it out quickly. Every single thing was top notch. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the chicken in the satay, it was good just not amazing by itself but as soon as I dressed it with the DELICIOUS peanut sauce it was great! I ordered a salad with their homemade ginger dressing that was so good I ordered a large side to take home with me. I ordered basil fried rice, green curry, panang curry and massaman curry with veg and fried tofu. The vegetables were plenty, bright and fresh! The tofu was perfectly cooked. The sauces were each unique from each other, delicious and thick. They made everything without fish sauce upon my request. I couldn't have asked for anything more- truly. Katie asked how it was and I simply said, "holy shit". I got up to speak to the owner to tell her how wonderful everything was and she said she was watching everything that was coming to my table. The food was completely reasonably priced. I felt like it was a steal. The other server, Zooey (sp?) was just as lovely and helpful. The host and food runner were equally as charming. We dined on Saturday @ 1pm. (no lunch menu) The restaurant was empty. It took 45 minutes to get our meal. My Japanese Chicken was dried out. The waiter was non existant. It appeared that they were more concerned with "take-outs" than actual customers. They charge 3% to pay with a credit card. Will not return. read more

We went to the new location on Bannerman rd for dinner last night . New location is much smaller but it is very clean and welcoming they were busy but it was Saturday night. The service was very good and the food came out of the kitchen fast and hot. Again, I ordered the curry medium but it was very mild. I asked if lunch came with white rice or fried. It came with white and the waiter asked if I would like fried. I said yes but wish he had told me that there was a $5 up charge. I probably would not have ordered it but it was very good. The veggies in the curry were terrific and the sauce was OK but nothing special this time. Overall, this lunch was OK but not stellar. The restroom was very clean! read more

Very nice, small restaurant with a fusion menu of Thai and Sushi. Not a terribly wide assortment, but what I've had was actually pretty good. Friendly service as well. Not very expensive and a good value. One problem is that the phone number for the restaurant is listed on many websites. But that number seems to be wrong. This is a long standing issue. There also does not appear to be a clickable online menus for ordering, which is another minor inconvenience. My work around for takeout is to order in person which isn't a true problem but a little inconvenient. If you are eating in, which I suggest since the place is truly a pleasant neighborhood restaurant with personality, the phone issue shouldn't be a problem. The food is truly good. read more

I am puzzled by some of the reviews of Siam Bistro, which I read only after a recent visit. Some of the reviewers complained that the Pad Thai was "flavorless." That's puzzling since much of that is determined by the customer. I ordered mine medium hot and it was full of flavor. There are at least three degrees of flavor above my "medium": hot, very hot and Thai hot. Not sure how the complainers ordered or what they were looking for but my Pad Thai was exceptional. We also had the gyoza, excellent and enhanced by their house made dipping sauce, made with fresh Ginger. This is not an off the shelf product. It is a distinct house recipe. Don't overlook the Brussel Sprouts either. It would be a mistake to do so. These are not dumped into the fryer whole, but the leaves are pulled off in a labor intensive process and lightly fried. This is not only gourmet food, but the portion size is also exceptional. read more

Well, the Covid19 made dining fairly easy and my table was just 1 of 2 yesterday prior to the close of sit down restaurant dining. The service was attentive and quick. I ordered the Tallahassee roll and Philly roll. The Tallahassee roll was great and filling. The Philly roll was too loosely put together. It fell apart and could have been constructed better. The service here was atrocious for 7PM dinner on a Sunday. One of the food runners working that night approached my fiancé and made a remark saying "do I know you, you look familiar," to which she replied no I do not know you, he insistently kept pestering her asking if she knew him etc, even going so far as asking out of "curiosity," what she did for a living. This was absoltely absurd and made both my fiance and myself incredibly uncomfortable since this was the first time we had ever tried this sushi/Thai restaurant. The server was mildly apologetic and I made a comment about the situation to her, which she very unmitigatedly said sorry and did nothing and offered no concession or gave us any reason for ever coming back. Then the food boy and the other young boys working the bar proceeded to laugh amongst one another in the bar. I requested to speak with the manager and voiced my opinion of the matter and she obviously the owner of the restaurant, gave deep apologies for this ordeal. This is absolutely not okay, as myself avidly involved in both the commercial real estate and property ownership side of things; behavior like this runs restaurants to the ground. The owner did nothing to make us want to ever return and we are severely disappointed after spending 152 dollars at this establishment. The reviews on here are puff pieces the quality of the food was mildly above average, masa and Siam sushi are far superior. Do not spend your money here this is not a respectable nor honorable business, you should absolutely be ashamed with how you handled the situation tonight. I will be sure to tell my friends and fellow business colleagues from The governors club to golden eagle to never walk foot into your restaurant ever again. I will do everything in my power to make sure this restaurant does not receive further support. read more

This was the first time I've sat down and had Siam Bistro since high school, probably, which was 5+ years ago. I had it once for lunch a few years ago and enjoyed an affordable lunch menu price with a good meal. Tonight, however, my family and I sat down to sample an array of their dishes and each one was worth eating! The miso soup I began with was pretty decent, though the flavor was a bit stronger than typical miso soups. The fried rice was excellent when combined with the yum yum sauce! The green chicken curry- at medium spicy- was really quite spicy, even to a non-tame tongue! The flavor was very earthy but fresh though! The Tallahassee and spicy tuna rolls were mouthfuls, but pretty decent! Not too spicy, really! My mother was obsessed with the shrimp tempura, and I thought the teriyaki chicken was simplistic but delicious. Overall, the price was a little high, but the food was good, and the service was even better! We didn't have to wait too long and our server was attentive, kind, and even brought us yum yum sauce without being asked, so you know he was good! read more

Meh honestly not the best sushi in Tally. I prefer Sakura far better and they have much more choice. Service is pretty slow especially regarding sushis. I'm honestly not sure why. I mean it's good because it means it's freshly done but 20 min? With 3 tables total? Dunno about that. We were hesitant to try this place because of a couple negative reviews but I'm happy we did!! We got the gyoza, pad Thai, and beef pho. I was pleasantly surprised with how great everything was!! Everything had so much flavor and were cooked perfectly. I am already planning my next visit back! The reason I gave it 4, however, is because the service was quite slow. Our server was very nice and helpful but kind of disappeared towards the end of our meal so we had to wait a while and I had to ask for a water refill a few times. Though I have never set foot in this restaurant, I have taken advantage of two delivery services (Door Dash and Bite Squad) to get this restaurant's culinary dishes brought to me. My first impression, I was a bit disappointed because the shrimp and rice dish was about $15 and I only received 6 shrimp (not jumbo either). I decided to give it another try and ordered the green curry with seafood. It did NOT disappoint. Similar to Red Thai Curry there was a good amount of spice intermingled with coconut sauce leaving a marriage of flavors on my tongue. In addition, I ordered the soft shell crab appetizer, but was disappointed in the portion size based on the cost. For $15 I was expecting to get more than 1/2 of a cup of tempura battered crab. The flavor and batter were perfect, however, the portion should be increased for the price. I had to yelp about my experience today because the taste of the green curry still lingers on my tongue and I had to share. read more

My husband and I were looking forward to trying this place after reading the reviews but we were very disappointed with our dinner. The tuna roll was just a tiny piece of tuna with a lot of rice wrapped in seaweed paper. Awful. So we tried the California roll and it wasn't any better. It didn't look anything like the pictures. Bottom line: It's A-OK. It really is. (remember, folks - "A-OK" is a positive endorsement. A-OK doesn't mean something sucks!) Before I get started here, I need to clarify one rule I follow when reviewing. I try hard to not compare restaurants in Tallahassee with those in far-away (more than a convenient drive) locales. It's just not fair. Case in point: I'm a sea urchin NUT. I really am. I'm NOT going to find a local fishmonger that peddles fresh sea urchin. Good luck with that in MOST major U.S. cities, BTW. I'm not talking about the rack of sea urchin that you can find in bigger city asian markets for around $16. I'm talking about unopened Sea Urchin. Well, I'm not going to say that Southern Seafood, Capital Seafood or Stearns Seafood are bad because they don't offer unopened Sea Urchin. That just wouldn't make sense. Similarly, it would be unfair of me to compare ANY Thai place here to those I first enjoyed up in the PNW. I think it's only fair to compare restaurants to their OWN local competition. No restaurant in town needs to compete with the "big leagues" (although a good number of them do, BTW). They just need to compete locally. At least, that's how I see it - and, just so you know, that's in large part how my star-system is used. So - to Siam Bistro... I came at 3PM - an awkward time for any establishment. I ordered the chef's sushi special (I'm pretty sure that's what it was called, but it was a sushi/sashimi/nigiri special for $22) as well as a miso soup. The miso soup was visually very attractive. I found it a bit salty for me, but good. I ordered a sushi-sashimi-nigiri "special" for $22. Take a look at the picture. It was good. It's uncharacteristic of me to order sushi in a place that serves Thai - but I took a chance. Next time, I'll be curious about how the Thai dishes are rendered. I'll return for that. read more

The locals of Tallahassee might hate my negative reviews, one after another. But visiting from New York City, it's very hard not to compare. Coming in for a pickup at the clean, modern, and tastefully decorated space with a high ceiling was very promising. The staff took care of our order was efficient and polite. But everything went down, very wrong, from this point. Some ordered Sushi and other from Thai choice - I was one of them. I follow Anthony Bourdain's advice in his book: "no seafood on Monday" Shishito Peppers: this appetizer was greasy and salty peppers were enjoyable, especially with a some heat from the peppers. Vegetarian Spring Rolls ($6) was "don'ts" (sadly more don'ts are coming up). Nicely fried and crispy rolls had a strange unknown creamy filling and tasted funny. The apricot house sauce that came with sounded exciting but it had very odd texture and taste. Tom Yum soup $5 with shrimp was diluted and sad, less wonderful flavors of Thai. I asked for medium spicy but came super spicy (different from Thai spicy) to the point l could not stop coughing for awhile. Strong heat hit first, usually Cayenne peppers: Thai chili is deep this coming out later. Two shrimps in a soup was rubbery, so as Jumbo Coconut Shrimp $8. Pad Mee Kao (Drunken Noodle) $13 with a choice of chicken was very disappointing. Drunken Noodle is one of my Thai food favorites so I know very well how it should be and the best I had was a street of Bangkok. It was super spicy yet with a depth of complex flavors with that soft-chewy and tasty wide rice noodles. Thai Bistro version of this dish was less garlic and Thai complex flavors. What I mostly disappointed was the noodle they used. The width of the flat rice noodle is traditionally about four times wider, soft, and chewy: soaking up all the flavors becomes amazing. Wider than Fettuccine rice noodle was too firm noodle to duplicate a traditional way. I didn't dare wanting to taste Sushi rolls or Nigiris others ordered, epecially anything with tuna. The fresh sheen had long gone and partially changing its reddish color to purple brown concerned me, but only one had an unsettling bowl movement and complaining next day. I also didn't like the soy sauce that came with. Marked "less sodium" it was very salty and lacked in soy flavor. There are many fake soy sauce, coming from China, even the ingredients say so. If you decided to have Sushi here, do bring your own favorite "real" soy sauce with you. read more

Got there at noon, and their front door was open, but they told us it would be 20 minutes before they could seat us in the empty restaurant even though their hours state that they're open at noon. Our appetizers were obviously frozen and the pho was the worst I've ever had: flavorless and full of bell peppers and carrots. Even my friend's pad Thai had no flavor. Avoid. read more

This is the second time I've eaten here during my travels for work. Both times, the food has been delicious and the service is impeccable. They serve Sushi, Chinese and Thai cuisines.
