This is a no frills Chinese and Thai takeout restaurant much like hundreds of similar places across America. They are tucked into a small space between Salty Dawg and Tour of Italy. The food is inexpensive and they will give you plenty to eat. It's filling comfort food when you are hungry. Order at the counter, pay and in a few minutes your food will be ready to go. There is no decor unless the picture menu on the wall counts. If you want ambiance, your home or a nearby park will have to suffice. There is currently one table inside if you wanted to eat your food right away. There is no outdoor seating for this restaurant and I doubt Salty Dawg would be happy if you tried to use their outside tables. I recently got the Mongolian Beef lunch special it was tasty enough with plenty of rice to fill you up. The egg roll that came with was cooked perfectly if a little bland. For $6.99, I had a filling meal that I would get again. There are 29 lunch specials on the menu for $6.50 + tax and I imagine they all are satisfying. read more

I see these reviews about once a week, because we go here about once a week. This is consistently better and fresher than any Chinese food I've ever had. It's fast, delicious, decent portions, and they're nice. I will never understand the negative reviews, unless it's just some of the rude people I often see who are constantly trying to find ways to complain and get free food. read more

I have only been a few times, but each time was very good. I love the shrimp rolls. I also love a good shrimp chow mein with lots of bean sprouts. I have scarcely been able to find it made that way since I have been in Florida (20 years). Happy Wok does a wonderful job with this dish. Other things I have tried were the meat wontons, cheese wontons and wonton soup with pork. All very good. Next, I may try a Thai dish or the lo mein. The prices are reasonable and they give huge portions. The family that runs it is nice. Actually I think their young Daughter is the one that really runs the place! The people are SO friendly and the food is great! They went to Fresh 4 Less in the same strip mall to get the ginger that I requested in my lo Mein and mixed it in just right so the flavor was definitely there, but not overwhelmingly so. They have children working the counter and taking orders. One is approximately 6 and the other around 3. The little one was on the counter and almost fell off as he was holding pens with snot dripping out of his nose (he was sick and handling food). The older daughter is trying her best to pick up the slack of the business but is far too young to be running the register, handling credit cards and answering phones. Child Labor Laws are in existence for a reason. If you believe in them, don't go here and spend money at a legitimate business. I was told to bring it back in which led to an argument on why a piece was missing??? how would I have known your food was rotten if I didn't take a bite? I was then cussed out and robbed for $34.00. What a bummer... I really liked this place and it was so convenient! I ordered takeout on Sunday - just for myself. Just a lunch combo of sesame chicken, fried rice and an egg roll. First, he wouldn't give me any sweet and sour sauce! I get it, it's sesame chicken.... but egg rolls are delicious with sauce! So I brushed that off... went home and enjoyed my chicken (the rice wasn't great). The meal was $8.55, so I wasn't expecting gourmet and I was in and out in (literally) less than 2 minutes. I didn't tip... and honestly I could be totally wrong with that etiquette. I mean, there wasn't exactly a "service" to tip on... I ordered my food online and picked it up myself. He handed my food to me over the counter (and wouldn't even give me sauce!!). So, I feel like I was paying the right amount for what I ordered and received. Today, as I reconcile my bank account (yes.... I may be the only person under 40 that still does that), I see that I was charged $10.55!! He added a $2.00 tip for himself!!! What in the hell?????? That is NOT OKAY!!!! I mean, it's only $2... but the principal of the thing really irritating me!! I even wrote "$8.55" in the total line!! Ugh. A huge menu! But, this place is quite a drive. When entering the establishment, the place looks kind of shady, but there is a lot to choose from. They even have Agedashi tofu, which most Japanese restaurants do not even have. However, when having so many items the quality starts to suffer. I have ordered their sushi before and was not able to eat it, because it just tasted like it had expired. They were the only place that had Vietnamese for a while, so I went there for their rice paper rolls. I had some bad experiences here and some okay ones. Nothing was ever phenomenal. It might be better if they just specialized in one type of cuisine. After Far East on Thomasville opened, we went there instead and were never heard from at Rice Bowl again. read more

There is nothing "happy" about this place. Foods was horrible, service is even worst. I ordered pho, Vietnamese beef soup. They not only gave me chicken broth, it doesnt even smell like pho. The girl at you the counter was so rude. Instead of offering me another meal, replace the nasty pho they have serve me. She argued with me. You're Korean and you're trying to argue with a Vietnamese person about Pho? My friend order pad Thai, it has no favor. How this place is still in business is beyond me. What a nightmare!! Their menu has a good variety. Includes Vietnamese, Chinese and Japanese food. I tried some Vietnamese food and it was very tasty. A nice big serving. If you order more than $9 you can also go to the soup/salad buffet for free. It has a bowl of simple salad and several kinds of dressing. And there were three types of soup including miso and a hot and sour soup which were also very good. Service was quick and friendly. The decor and atmosphere is casual and nice. It's located in a shopping strip called Lake Jackson and so parking is convenient. Their website includes photos of the restaurant and their menu with prices. I thought I'd give this place another try since it's close to my job. I'm currently eating $10 tofu pad Thai without a vegetable in sight. Literally just fried tofu and noodles. My husband and I always choose Happy Wok when we want Asian take-out. Our favorites are the sesame chicken and Thai red curry (go medium- the hot is overwhelming!). The young lady told me it was a couple more minutes, collected my money, and then I waited ANOTHER 25 minutes for my order to be completed.
