I am shook in a very positive way. I think I found my go-to Chinese restaurant. Sadly it's in the other side of the state, but hey, with how often I'm up there anyway, I won't find myself crying over missing them anytime soon. If you know me, then you know I'm a loyal follower of one Chinese restaurant and since moving away from it, I've been trying to find others up to par. Well, it's been a mission and a half. I never find one nearby that is worth it. This one is no exception, except that, well, I am so often in Tallahassee these days that it's not bad. I can go whenever I'm in town. Anyhow, my review is based solely on my order from Uber Eats. I ordered their lunch special of general Tso's chicken that included white rice and an egg roll. I also happily ordered edamame to boot, which admittedly was weird to me as I expect that in a Japanese restaurant, not a Chinese one, but no matter. That general Tso's chicken was spicy and generous. I had meals for two days. The egg roll was perfectly fried, the white rice fluffy, and surprisingly the edamame was just fine for not being a Japanese restaurant. Overall, I am shocked to find this level of quality Chinese food, seeing that, well, I live in South Florida which has many more restaurants than Tallahassee and I haven't found a replacement Chinese restaurant there. It's not the cleanest place, with a weird parking lot..service is fast and friendly (although it is usually done by one person). Tallahassee really lacks a good Chinese place. The shrimp was excelllent. The sweet and sour chicken still have the crisp and crunch after the sauce was on it. The beef lomein just had th e right amount of soy sauce and spices, it wasn't too salty or bland. Fried rice is alright but has good amount of meats. This is my favorite Asian takeout spot in town. The parking is kinda shit, the inside is closed for dining I think. It looks clean though and the food is delicious. The vegetarian options slap honestly, the veggies are marinated so deliciously and all of the tofu I've had there has been perfect. They get the texture right and obvs the flavor is good cause of the marinade. I can't stress enough how important marinading is, it makes food delicious. They are usually really fast with my orders, but I'm cheap and I go pick up my food so I can't speak on delivery services from third parties. The food was delicious! Everyone in my family enjoyed their food. My Steamed Fish over Tofu was tender and tasty. My husband, who loves General Tso's Chicken and would only order that most of the time, said theirs was the best in town, that he's tasted. The server was very friendly. Don't let the lack of nice decor scare you away. This place is one of the few authentic Chinese restaurants in the area. I came to TLH for work and decided to eat lunch here. Decided to tryout this new Chinese restaurant close to the FSU campus, right next door to Pitaria and I was not let down. The food was awesome, I got duck ramen and the sweet and sour tofu. The ramen was perfect for the cold weather. The duck was flavorful and tender and the broth was super light. If you're expecting a Japanese ramen then you will be let down. Chinese ramen is very mild, similar to the broth of wonton soup. The tofu was good and traditional. I prefer getting it extra crispy. The atmosphere is awesome and the service is amazing. Traveling through Tallahassee and we were craving Asian Food. We were having issues finding a place open at 3pm as many in the area close in between lunch and dinner as well ad on a Monday. I'm so glad we found this place on Yelp as I never would have ventured so far off the interstate. This place was just as great as the reviews said. We did upgrade our friend rice for $1.99 he got beef fried rice & I got vegetable fried rice. The portion size were extremely large at this great price. We had got crab rangoon as an appetizer. They were good but I probably wouldn't order again with such large entree portion sizes. I ordered my Kung Pao Chicken extra spicy and boy did they listen to that request which I appreciated. When I first heard about this place I was just hoping it would be more than another typical US-Chinese food place. I like some General Tso's as much as the next guy, but I really love authentic Chinese food and I don't think people explore it as much as they should. The great thing about this restaurant is that it does both things well. Its americanized Chinese food is actually really tasty and lunch specials are generous. It's authentic food is really a marvel. If you're adventurous, I strongly recommend exploring the menu. My personal favorite, which I forgot to photograph, is the intestine with sour pickle. This stuff is really delicious. But all the various innards and tendon dishes are very tasty. You'll pay a bit more here for entrees than you might at some other places, but the quality is good. I jumped the gun when I recently proclaimed another W. Tennessee Street Chinese restaurant as "the best in TLH". This is NOT to take anything away from that other restaurant. I feel just as good about it today as I did when I uttered my premature proclamation. BLOSSOM KITCHEN is the de facto champion. One would think that such an unwieldy menu would surely suggest they're taking on more than they can handle. So far, I haven't found that to be the case. I've been four times and ordered wildly varied dishes each time (1. Beef tendon w veg., 2. Clam & Veg Soup., 3. Pork Intestines w Spicy Green Sauce., 4. West Lake Beef Soup). As outlandish as the others may sound, I will focus my review on the West Lake Beef Soup. Gather 'round... On my second visit, I intended to order the West Lake Beef Soup but the owner/operator/server/cashier sweet lady flat-out redirected me elsewhere on the menu. Now... this was a first for me. She was effectively telling me "I know your type - you 'think' you're going to like this, but when you send it back - you're 1. Going to hate our restaurant and 2. Going to tell the world how awful we are". So... I read up on the soup itself - learned its history, its common variations, the "lore" behind it and was fully prepared to break through any barriers and ultimately order the damned soup. I was NOT going to have any "No Soup For You" nonsense. ...So, on the fourth visit, she again put up all the warnings but quickly realized I would be victorious. She even flipped to the pictures and made sure I saw its appearance. I showed her the numerous pictures on my phone and assured her I'd sign any waiver / release necessary to order it. West Lake Beef Soup arrived swiftly and without fanfare. I knew it was slightly thickened with cornstarch - that's traditional - and I tasted the slightly gelatinous broth. I could have sworn there was an oat/barley fragrance but neither are in the soup. I wanted it a smidge saltier and I dashed some soy into it. The thickened broth held the striations of soy in place - an uncanny sight. Once stirred in, it dissipated. There's really nothing shockingly exotic about this traditional soup. The beef is minced, and the egg drop is strictly the egg whites without the yolks. Delicious soup with unique flavor. I'll order it again. I liked it. My second visit to the restaurant for lunch and both visits were okay. Came here with another Chinese friend and like typical Chinese style, we ordered different dishes and share them. We have tried different dishes each time and none has truly wowed me yet. For my most recent visit, the menu was overwhelming. There are so many dishes and they are placed all over the more than 10 pages menu with lots of pictures. We decided to go with one spicy dish (fish with hot chili sauce) and one milder dish (eggplant with tofu). The Chinese name is better sounding than the plain English name. Haha. When you know the dish and it came out not as you expected, there's a certain let down...but that is not to say the dishes weren't good. It was not as good as it could be. The eggplant was flavorful but a tad salty. The fish were lacking in ingredients but not lacking in spices. The fish is quite pricey for a lunch dish at $17. This restaurant is better than your typical Chinese restaurant in Tally. If you want to try a Chinese restaurant that feels like one you can find in China, this would be one. read more

Excellent and authentic Chinese food. We finally found Jian Bing somewhere in Tallahassee after missing it since we were in Beijing in November. Great customer service too! The Jian Bing (which is listed on the menu as Chinese savory crepe) is made right in front of you. It is a crepe mix cooked on a round griddle that has bean curd sauce spread on it. It comes with crispy noodles, cilantro, lettuce, and chicken or beef. They don't serve it in a wrap, so it's not quite as hand-held as the ones we've gotten from street carts, but I'm happy to have found an authentic version here in town. I ordered the tomatoes and scrambled eggs, a meal we had a few times in Beijing. It's surprisingly good for being so simple and this restaurant does a great job! I prefer it with noodles, but they serve it with steamed rice, which is also good. I also got the spicy chili chicken, which has fried bone-in chicken with a great chili pepper flavor. It's a little dry, but really flavorful. I look forward to trying more menu items off the authentic Chinese menu. (There are two menus - the Americanized menu and an authentic Chinese menu.) They have a pictures next to all of their menu items online for both menus so you can get an idea of what you're ordering - and they also deliver with Bite Squad. The almond bubble tea was also pretty good and the "boba" seems to be a diced gummy instead of the usual round boba tea balls. The first time I visited, Sophia highly recommended an appetizer of sesame balls. Something new, so my friend and I decided we would try them. Amazing! They come out piping hot, made of a gelatinous rice flour. They were so good I took an order to-go! We visited again yesterday and still upheld the same expectations as before. An order of sesame balls to start and an order of Chicken with Broccoli. The Chicken with Broccoli was delicious and not greasy like you get on a lot of buffets. Their rolled ice cream is also a treat. I loved the popping boba (mango and strawberry) topping. Definitely different but such a delight. Overall, Blossom Kitchen has great Chinese food. This is my favorite Chinese food in town. It is really tasty. Authentic Chinese menu with real flavorful food to back it up. We only dined in and I would suggest that because the service is really great and the food is served at proper temperature. The Mapo Tofu is amazing- utterly amazing and addictive. I crave it. It has a nice spice, the pork texture is perfect, the sauce seasons the rice without making it soggy, I can find no fault. For some, it might not be spicy enough. I usually order my thai medium and I find this to be the same spice level without asking for any additional spice. I also order medium hot wings. I know it is not the same cuisine but I am trying to give a reference point. I know they are happy to make it hotter but I do not think they can make it more mild and you would not want to as you can really taste the lovely red peppers they use. It makes the dish. The hot and sour soup is really solid with a nice flavor and a good sour note along with tons of tofu and mushrooms. The crab rangoon is utterly delightful and surprising. With real flavors and textures bursting inside plus clearly homemade, this is an appetizer worth having. My husband usually gets sesame chicken or beef with broccoli. He is not adventurous with Chinese food as he is with out Asian varieties. He ate the entire plate while proclaiming that it was the best he has had in Tallahassee. He said that he liked that it was not overly breaded and you got good bites of chicken. He upgraded his fried rice to the rice with everything in it to try it out. He really enjoyed it and would consider their house special rice as his main portion on a future visit. Our eggroll was not special, but not your typical frozen either. It was just a veggie eggroll but the cabbage still had a nice crunch and the shell was properly fried. The only thing I have had there that was a bit lackluster was the steamed dumplings. While the filing and ponzu was *very* flavorful, the wrapper was a little thick and gummy. It also did not hold its heat, even when dining in. They are clearly homemade, perhaps it is the wrapper they are using as a thinner one would make this perfect. Or if you love dumplings and just have to have them, maybe getting them pan-fried? They cook everything here beautifully, perfect fry, great juiciness, proper saute, etc. so perhaps the pan fried version will come out better? I will give this variety a try on my next visit and report back but it will be very hard not to get the crab rangoon. If you read this far... go! What are you waiting for? Be sure to ask for the "special" menu with authentic Chinese dishes. They have a translated version.
