    Shrimp and chicken hibachi rice
    Lexus P.

Came here with a group of about 20 young people and a few adults for dinner. This is like a fast food hibachi favorite in Tally that has all the yum yum sauce one could ever want. I like my yum yum sauce with a side of hibachi please! Good for dining on a budget. Food: You get a good sized serving of everything. Shrimp and chicken hibachi is my go to. Chicken is moist. The shaggy roll was very good. Fresh avocado. My friend added cream cheese and hers was bomb! Try it. Service: Jacob, Rashad and the Alex were amazing!!! They took our orders, answered questions and served our food. With 20 teenagers they made the process go smooth.

    Orange shrimp with fried rice

Not greeted at all when coming in and basically just stared at by employees until we were ready to order. We ordered orange shrimp with fried rice and a salad, panko chicken with fried rice, and we tried the tempura shrimp roll. The food came out pretty fast. The shrimp tasted amazing. They were huge shrimp breaded perfectly with a great flavor. The fried rice was underneath but completely drenched in the orange sauce- which I didn't mind ultimately because the fried rice seemed a bit bland. They forgot to bring me the salad I ordered so I had to come up and ask for it. The panko chicken was good, a little over done and a tad on the dry side, but it was still good. It came with a dipping sauce which tasted AMAZING and was probably the greatest tasting thing I tried there. The tempura shrimp roll was pretty basic, not too much to rant and rave about. What really hooked me on this place was the sauce bar. They have 5 or 6 sauces available for anybody to take, and I tried the spicy yum yum sauce and the miso dressing, which were both fantastic. There were a lot of employees walking in and out of the back door that says something like "Do not open; fire alarm will sound" during our entire stay. The dining room and the bathroom were kept clean. It's an okay place. It's good for the amount of money you pay, though.

I managed a Roboto's location and having worked there for so long, it's safe to say I'm kind of an expert on the menu. Although those days are in the past, I still find myself craving these Asian classics suited for us Americans. Hibachi - Chicken and Steak Teriyaki are the most popular and the most reliable. I recommend it with fried rice (soy, egg and onion) and grilled veggies (soy and garlic butter). The Shrimp and Mahi are topped with Samurai sauce (basically a bang bang sauce without the spice). Kitchen - Samurai Chicken is the frat boy classic. I'm more of a General Tso guy myself. Most items on the kitchen side are fried and are a little heavier on the stomach. If you're hungry stick with this side. (Still) Kitchen - The Thai Red Curry is the most overlooked item on the menu. Spicy and delicious curry broth loaded with tender veggies. Order white rice with it. The Panko Chicken is my other go-to. Crisp chicken coated in panko breadcrumbs - comes with spicy mayo and it's phenomenal. Sushi - it's been a while, but the Hurricane and Tokyo Buffalo roll stand out. I'd recommend a sushi bowl, i.e. the Tuna Tataki bowl. Comes with avocado, sushi rice and creamy avocado slices. As I used to say, "Hang out at the sauce bar. It's where all the cool kids hang out." You'll see why when you first try the Yum Yum sauce. I could make this review a hell of a lot longer, but I digress. For under $10, it's tough to beat. Stay cool, Botos.

I've always heard about this business because a lot of third party drivers (DoorDash, Uber eats, GrubHub etc) always mistake us for Mr. Roboto. I decided to try it out since it's similar to my job and they serve some of the same things. I came alone, the inside was very nice. I love that they had a big dining area of groups of people. The parking lot sucks and it's kind of hard to not get into an accident on your way in and out. I ordered the orange chicken with shrimp and fried rice. Once I got my order I was surprised at how much food they give, even my job don't give as much as they do. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of how it looked first but I tried it and I was not a fan still. The rice, I can't explain the rice! I can't explain the taste, it just wasn't fried rice. The sauce wasn't good and I just stop eating it, I still had a ton of food left over but for me it just wasn't worth it. I did hear that this place is cheap Asian food so I guess that's why it tasted the way it did.

When I first moved to Tallahassee the name "Mr. Roboto" was catchy for a dining experience. I have been to the one on Tennessee Street, but last night was my first visit at the Pensacola location. As soon as I opened the door there was not greeting from the cashier or any of the staff working at the front. Which I thought was odd since Tennessee location provided a warm and comfortable first experience when I visited with a few friends for dinner. I asked the cashier a question about the menu and all she responded was "I don't know you have to ask someone else", correct me if I am wrong but isn't a proper response suppose to be " I don't know the answer to your question but let me go find a answer for you". There was no "How may I help you" or any type of good hospitality. No wonder there were only a few people dining in last night. The food quality was bad due to the temperature being cold. I ordered the Mahi-Mahi with double vegetables and although the staff brought the food to my table there was no "Is there anything else I could get you" or no check up on if my order was up to par. Unfortunately this will have to be one of my least favorite reviews based on many different factors as a whole. Truthfully I would not recommend this specific restaurant to friends for family. I am big on first impression and this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

Babies crying, people jumbled everywhere, and a buffet setup that was super packed together near everything else. The good: host sat me quickly and my server was polite and super quick. I guess they got this down to a science? The bad: everything else. How the heck are these reviews high? This place was packed but I felt like if I coughed, it would be all over my neighbor and the food. It was a cluster f. I did the buffet. While they had a lot of options, it was jam packed together. And you bumped into people trying to squeeze through some areas. The sushi was mediocre. The sweet and sour chicken was off. The fried rice wasn't warm. Even my tap water tasted funny. I couldn't finish my hot sake because it tasted off. The wasabi and ginger even looked funky (I will say the wasabi had a nice kick). Best part of my meal was leaving. The miso soup was the only decent part. I should have learned my lesson from previous Asian fusion places but I guess I trusted the reviews on this one. It's clear to me; a lot of people don't have an educated palate.

So there I was at Kiku Japanese Fusion in Tallahassee, walking in with optimism, hunger, and the kind of confidence only a BOGO sushi deal can provide. Because let's be honest here... free sushi automatically tastes at least 12% better before you even sit down. And if you've read my sushi reviews before, you already know the drill. I always start with salmon nigiri. It's my sushi control group. My scientific measuring stick. My edible version of checking the audio system before the concert starts. Unfortunately, the opening notes here were rough. The salmon nigiri arrived and I knew we had trouble immediately. The rice was warm, the salmon was sliced thin, and that combination never leads anywhere good. Worse, parts of the rice were actually hard and crispy, like individual grains had given up on the cooking process halfway through. In grading terms for this college town, that nigiri pulled a solid C-minus. Honestly flirting with a D. Not exactly the inspirational start I was hoping for. But then the rolls showed up and decided to save the semester. My specialty roll had salmon and avocado topped with spicy crab, and while it looked like it had survived a minor traffic accident on the plate, it tasted great. Total yummy mess in the best possible way. Big flavors, rich, satisfying, and the kind of sushi roll that reminds you subtlety is sometimes overrated. Solid B territory. Then came the free roll. The New York roll. Simpler. Less flashy. And somehow the best thing I ate all night. Funny how that works sometimes. The roll they literally gave away for free ended up outperforming the expensive headliner like an opening band stealing the concert. So where does that leave Kiku? Somewhere squarely in the middle. The meal started shaky enough that I was already mentally preparing my disappointed face for the review, but the rolls clawed things back respectably by the end. Overall this averages out to a straight up C. Not terrible. Not amazing. Just kind of living in that middle ground where the BOGO deal honestly helps the final grade quite a bit. Three stars for a sushi experience that started like a pop quiz and finished like extra credit.

We were in the mood for sushi and were in the area.  Surely, the experience could not be as bad as before.  We were greeted by the hostess and sat at a table with no wait.  There were at least four waiters and two hostesses working.  We were one of 6 tables inside.  We sat and watched all but one waitress pass our table.  The table behind my wife ordered drinks, had them delivered, and then ordered food.  Another couple was seated behind me.  We had seen no one and were looking around to see if we could get a waitress's attention.  One did walk up, but she stopped at the newly seated table behind me, taking their drink order.  My wife is usually the patient one, enjoying experiences, taking her time.  Before I could say anything, she looked at me and said, "Let's go".  On the way out, we mentioned the service issue, as I did before.  The hostess first wished us a good day, then gave us a confused look when we told her we had not received service.  The hostess had sat us in a nearly empty restaurant less than 10 minutes before and had already forgotten us. Yes, the food at Dao is good.  Yes, they have adequate staffing and have been around for a while.  Yes, their location is ideal and probably costs a good bit in rent.  However, something has changed in their management, rendering customer service as an afterthought.  We will NOT go back again.  Too many good to great sushi restaurants in Tallahassee to spend money at one that does not put their customers first.
