I was sent here at the recommendation from a friend of a friend that attended FSU. I wasn't 100% sure what to expect, even though I had looked it up online. As soon as you walk in, there were self-service kiosks to the left that allowed me to place my order while reviewing all the descriptions. Helped me feel less rushed! I ordered the steak hibachi with white rice and vegetables, an order of spring rolls, and a fountain drink. With a tip, I spent less than $20. The food was as delicious as it was plentiful for the price. They also had a variety of sauces for you to add as well. The dining area is pretty unassuming but has awesome murals on the wall. The staff was friendly and attentive. Dish was served in a to-go container to make it easy if I were taking home, but there were no leftovers. If my travels bring me back through Tallahassee, this will definitely be a place I stop again. read more

College kids dream come true - affordable, edible, and super yummy hibachi. I went to visit my brother, who now attends FSU, and I used to come here when I was in college (10 years ago), and it is just as good now as it was then. A good amount of protein, the noodles or rice are a good starch option, and the veggies leave a bit to be desired (I'm more into the broccoli and carrots over the cabbage), but still a really good choice for the price point. Came here with a group of about 20 young people and a few adults for dinner. This is like a fast food hibachi favorite in Tally that has all the yum yum sauce one could ever want. I like my yum yum sauce with a side of hibachi please! Good for dining on a budget. Food: You get a good sized serving of everything. Shrimp and chicken hibachi is my go to. Chicken is moist. The shaggy roll was very good. Fresh avocado. My friend added cream cheese and hers was bomb! Try it. Service: Jacob, Rashad and the Alex were amazing!!! The kitchen staff was extremely displeasurable today (2 guys on 09/09). The overall restaurant was not clean to standard and I experienced a rude encounter with the employees that I'm not familiar with. We were rushed to place our orders, took 10 minutes for someone to finally get the order, and when they finally did, he gave us the wrong order total and walked away from the register (which left us unable clarify the order and had to find somewhere else to eat lunch). This used to be my favorite spot, but if I'm going to get treated poorly, I can spend more on greater service. read more

Not greeted at all when coming in and basically just stared at by employees until we were ready to order. We ordered orange shrimp with fried rice and a salad, panko chicken with fried rice, and we tried the tempura shrimp roll. The food came out pretty fast. The shrimp tasted amazing. They were huge shrimp breaded perfectly with a great flavor. The fried rice was underneath but completely drenched in the orange sauce- which I didn't mind ultimately because the fried rice seemed a bit bland. They forgot to bring me the salad I ordered so I had to come up and ask for it. The panko chicken was good, a little over done and a tad on the dry side, but it was still good. It came with a dipping sauce which tasted AMAZING and was probably the greatest tasting thing I tried there. The tempura shrimp roll was pretty basic, not too much to rant and rave about. What really hooked me on this place was the sauce bar. They have 5 or 6 sauces available for anybody to take, and I tried the spicy yum yum sauce and the miso dressing, which were both fantastic. There were a lot of employees walking in and out of the back door that says something like "Do not open; fire alarm will sound" during our entire stay. I managed a Roboto's location and having worked there for so long, it's safe to say I'm kind of an expert on the menu. Although those days are in the past, I still find myself craving these Asian classics suited for us Americans. Hibachi - Chicken and Steak Teriyaki are the most popular and the most reliable. I recommend it with fried rice (soy, egg and onion) and grilled veggies (soy and garlic butter). The Shrimp and Mahi are topped with Samurai sauce (basically a bang bang sauce without the spice). Kitchen - Samurai Chicken is the frat boy classic. I'm more of a General Tso guy myself. Most items on the kitchen side are fried and are a little heavier on the stomach. If you're hungry stick with this side. (Still) Kitchen - The Thai Red Curry is the most overlooked item on the menu. Spicy and delicious curry broth loaded with tender veggies. Order white rice with it. The Panko Chicken is my other go-to. Crisp chicken coated in panko breadcrumbs - comes with spicy mayo and it's phenomenal. Sushi - it's been a while, but the Hurricane and Tokyo Buffalo roll stand out. I'd recommend a sushi bowl, i.e. the Tuna Tataki bowl. Comes with avocado, sushi rice and creamy avocado slices. As I used to say, "Hang out at the sauce bar. It's where all the cool kids hang out." You'll see why when you first try the Yum Yum sauce. This place's food is fine, but this particular location's service is about as bad as it gets. Regularly forgetting portions of the meal and taking much longer than the promised ready time is the standard here, but today's event takes the cake. I was the first to arrive, and ordered first. Three other people place their order after me, and get their food and head out. I was standing there for another 10 minutes, and after asking what the status of my food was, I found out that the food was ready but they just neglected to call my name to let me know. I was standing in plain sight of the worker the entire time, and it was such an obvious oversight that I am tempted to assume it was intentional due to my race. The cherry on top - their response when I asked about the food and found out it was sitting ready for me for 10+ minutes? "my bad". I've always heard about this business because a lot of third party drivers (DoorDash, Uber eats, GrubHub etc) always mistake us for Mr. Roboto. I decided to try it out since it's similar to my job and they serve some of the same things. I came alone, the inside was very nice. I love that they had a big dining area of groups of people. The parking lot sucks and it's kind of hard to not get into an accident on your way in and out. I ordered the orange chicken with shrimp and fried rice. Once I got my order I was surprised at how much food they give, even my job don't give as much as they do. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of how it looked first but I tried it and I was not a fan still. The rice, I can't explain the rice! I can't explain the taste, it just wasn't fried rice. The sauce wasn't good and I just stop eating it, I still had a ton of food left over but for me it just wasn't worth it. When I first moved to Tallahassee the name "Mr. Roboto" was catchy for a dining experience. I have been to the one on Tennessee Street, but last night was my first visit at the Pensacola location. As soon as I opened the door there was not greeting from the cashier or any of the staff working at the front. Which I thought was odd since Tennessee location provided a warm and comfortable first experience when I visited with a few friends for dinner. I asked the cashier a question about the menu and all she responded was "I don't know you have to ask someone else", correct me if I am wrong but isn't a proper response suppose to be " I don't know the answer to your question but let me go find a answer for you". There was no "How may I help you" or any type of good hospitality. No wonder there were only a few people dining in last night. The food quality was bad due to the temperature being cold. I ordered the Mahi-Mahi with double vegetables and although the staff brought the food to my table there was no "Is there anything else I could get you" or no check up on if my order was up to par. Unfortunately this will have to be one of my least favorite reviews based on many different factors as a whole. Truthfully I would not recommend this specific restaurant to friends for family. This place is cheap. It's fast food, a little slower and a little greaser. I'm not even sure I was eating real meat. Please don't say it was chicken. There's a delayed effect of eating the food. At first it kinda looks okay. Almost plastic, like it's propped to look. But you take a few bites and think "not to bad but nothing special." Now that I sit here writing ... my stomach is speaking to me in some weird language. Love this place! The sushi and samurai plates are our favorite. The plate portions are large and made to order. I like that they have the sauces in a bar setting so you can help yourself when you dine in, or take your food to go. The restaurant does get busy at peek eating times so it's nice to be able to order ahead and pick it up with little to no wait. read more

There are three Roboto's now - I think this was the first, but I'm not sure. Regardless. Good concept - an abundance of rolls from which to choose. I almost always go with the chicken red curry Thai hot. It's always good. Those who've had the rolls say they like them. Roboto's was the first place where I saw the "sauce buffet" so now, when I see that anywhere, I think of Roboto's. This one offers outside seating which is nice because it's often luxuriously (read "high utility bill") cold inside. Place your assigned number on the table and the runner will find you. I struggle with this review because I eat it every time I come to Tallahassee but this location has gone down hill a lot over the last four years. The brocolli is usually cold on top of the rice and the salad is usually not very good. BUT, and that is a big BUT, the Sumari Chicken is one of the best menu items I have ever eaten in my life and may be my last meal if I had a choice. By far, my favorite place in Tally. Roboto is cheap, very good, and fast. I love going here with groups of my sorority sisters. We have gone there with large groups plenty of times. The fast food hibachi is very good and for the prices they charge, you cant beat it. They also have different bowls that you can try which change periodically. Super excited for the new location to come on Tennessee. Although Mr. Roboto defies the typical sushi bar atmosphere, it's food is out of this world. The actual restaurant is pretty typical of a "college joint" with wobbly and sometimes sticky tables, rushed service, and a chalk board menu, but it's food makes every sticky table moment worth it. The Sunflower Roll is a typical California Roll with spicy tuna on the side. The spicy tuna is laced with a magical spicy mayo that peps up the boring Cali Roll and makes it my favorite on the menu. There is a "sauce bar" full of Yum Yum Sauce, Spicy Mayo, Teriyaki Sauce, and Miso, Ginger, and Soy salad dressings. Each homemade sauce is drinkable - yet, the cause of Mr. Roboto's biggest flaw.... they are completely stingy with the sauce cups, making it hard to really enjoy it. I graduated last spring and I craved it every time I thought of it. I've tried everything on the menu and I love the salmon kobochi bowl. Delicious. Took my husband back today and he was happy and full. Definitely try the TNT roll & the Tokyo Buffalo roll. Cheap prices but the quality of the food is always incredible. I usually don't trust sushi at even somewhat sketchy places, but their's is pretty dec for the price (at least when I was in Tally until 09). I spent a week near the FSU campus and ate here four times in the week. Their menu seems to be a hybrid of 80% japanese, 20% chinese. I ordered the chicken, which was ready in less than five minutes. The chicken came on a bed of rice (too much rice), and a side of salad. The chicken was tender and juicy, and the portions were very generous. To top it off, there is a self-serve sauce bar, and every single one of those sauces was kickass. Definitely try the yum yum sauce. I also tried General's chicken and their sushi, both were equally delicious, but on my fourth day, I reverted back to the chicken. Heck, its even connected to a froyo shop, talk about the perfect refreshing dessert on a hot humid day. Nope. Just nope. Done with this place. Their quality has been a roller coaster over the years, but right now it's completely off the rails. Iffy quality is what you'd expect from ~$10 Asian "Fusion," but you also expect it to - at the least - be palatable. The downhill slide began when they removed Pad Thia from the menu, then their Thai Red Curry became my preferred dish. It was great for a few years ago, but then fell victim to recipe sabotage. Things got worse with the thinning of the Red Curry to a watery soup. It originally had a modest thickness and was ever-so-slightly creamy - the way it ought to be. However tonight, their efforts fell below...well, can one bat less-than 0/100? It's now a confirmed statistic. * The most egregious offense was the overwhelming vinegar taste. Balance was not even a consideration in this equation. But guess what: tastebud-torture didn't stop there. * Next, this "curry soup" had a soured taste that extended well beyond the vinegar content; something was truly 'off,' not just off-balance. * Who added the ridiculous amount of salt? It was like a liquid salt-lick. Like, enough to set up a deer stand and wait. * Rubbery chicken. Two of the three pieces I tried were not just overcooked, but also partly comprised of tendon and cartilage. HOW?! C'mon! If I wanted to chew leather, I'd get some dry beef jerky. * Least offensive on the list was the crunchy veggies - zero saute preparation - which is odd, given how much heat-attention was applied to the chicken. * As an added (negative) bonus, the rice was cooked exactly as sticky rice should be, although it both smelled and tasted stale - like wheat flour when its prime has passed. Before you ask: yes, I thoroughly stirred the Red Curry to ensure it wasn't somehow a settling issue. Well, not that kind of 'settling' because Mr Roboto's has certainly settled for sub-par standards. I rarely write bad reviews. I don't ever ask for my money back. I've never asked to be comp'ed by a manager. I just accept these First World Problems. But when I say I'm never going back to a place, I mean it. The only reason I'd go back would be with health inspectors after reporting food poisoning. I hope it doesn't come to that. read more

This Asian-fusion place is designed for students, but locals can pop in to enjoy it too. The decor makes you feel like you've walked into some anime/Godzilla inspired magazine. The food here comes fast and is a combination of Thai, Japanese, and Chinese dishes. I enjoyed the panko chicken, which comes in a large portion. Although I have not ordered the sushi, I've only heard good things. Obviously, the pricing implies this isn't Grade A sushi, but since this is designed to be quick and student-friendly, I think it is still acceptable even to the most discriminating gourmand. Although I'd recommend loclas schedule out Mr. Roboto, I'd also suggest visitors. I imagine this place is popular with visiting college students parents as well. Roboto's is fast, casual asian food. I usually get their mahi mahi or red curry and both are quite tasty. If you come here with an open mind and not expecting a 5 star gourmet Asian experience, you may just find that you like it. I think some of their food is a bit overpriced, but overall it's a good value and I've never had either a bad meal or a mistake made on my order. One of my favorite casual restaurants in Tallahassee. It's cheap, good and has a selection of sauces to choose from the sauce bar--I'm a sauce fiend. Try the Yum Yum Sauce. I try to eat here when I visit Tallahasse because they make a good tofu and vegetable habashi. There is outside seating with shade which is a plus and of course you need to get lots of yum yum sauce to dip your protein of choice in. More people would enjoy tofu if they just thought of the tofu as a vehicle to transport a lot of yum yum sauce in every bite.
