We were starving after our jaunt looking at properties and failed to take pictures because we dug in very quickly the bok Choy was AMAZING garlicky yummyness....Mongolian beef was flavorful and the Singapore noodles had a healthy spicy kick which we love! The server was on his own it was not super busy being Thanksgiving day and he managed very well! The place is old so not much ambiance but do not let that put you off because it really is very good food! This is just the standard Chinese restaurant with prices that are slightly higher than average. Having grown up with Asian friends who owned restaurants and being spoiled by San Francisco's Chinatown fair, it does suck that this place is the best in Tallahassee. I've gotten takeout a few times and ate in once. The food is average at best. Yang Zhou fried rice is usually loaded with meats, shrimp, and veggies, but normally there's just a few peas and 2 shrimp. Beef lo mein was very light on the beef. Partner did enjoy the kung pao chicken and the hot and sour soup. Watched a few people come in 50 minutes before closing for dine in and they were refused, with the workers saying "it's too late". Both the sesame chicken and orange chicken were very dry and lacking flavor/sauce. Hardly any vegetables/meat in the fried rice and the lo mein is also lacking flavor. Last night me and my roommate ordered take out from here. We got two large vegetable lo mein's, one egg drop soup, and one serving of veggie rolls. The lo mein was outstanding. We got it to have for a second meal but the size is too small for two meals and too big for one meal in our opinions so we would go for the small next time and recommend a large for someone who has a naturally large appetite. This Chinese restaurant on Tennessee Street is a hidden gem. We had a party of, I kid you not, about 30 people, and they accommodated us. We ordered ahead, and although of course the food could not all come out at the same time, everyone got their food as quickly as possible. Everything was delicious. This delicious addition to the Tallahassee food scene is a one stop shop for asian cuisine. Menu options include American Chinese food, ramen, shakes, and ice cream. I ordered their general tso's lunch special. For a lunch special that includes rice and an egg roll, it does not skimp on portion. I splurged and added fried rice. While most fried rice is not evenly coated/cooked, this fried rice was cooked evenly and no white rice was exposed. I don't know what they are doing with their chicken, but do not go into this place witb purely a comparison mindset. Their general tso's chicken is different in its own way and should be judged soley on its own merit. Also, this restaurant has perhaps one of the more friendliest demeanor in town. When we walked in no one sat us or told us to seat ourselves so we sat ourselves and waited 10 minutes to be served. My food came out 3 minutes after ordering... they could've at least pretended it was fresh and waited a little longer. The orange chicken looked good, but the inside did not look like chicken instead it looked spongey. Then waited another 20 minutes to get our check and ended up going and asking for it. This is our new go-to spot in Tally for great Chinese food. 4 stars only because the atmosphere isn't great and the restaurant has an odd smell when you walk in. It may have only been today however. They give you two menus, one "authentic" Chinese, and one "American" Chinese. My husband got the beef tendon from the authentic menu and it was served with white rice. She warned us it wouldn't be served hot and we were skeptical but it is served room temp to preserve the flavor as they typically eat it. He was not disappointed. I tried a bite too and it was delicious. He also got a huge bowl of hot and sour soup that was also really tasty. I got the sesame chicken and veggie lo mein from the American menu and It was possibly some of the best I've ever had. The chicken was moist and delicious white meat chunks and the lo mein noodles seemed scratch made. We also got an order of the crab rangoons and we could tell the filling was home made.
