They have an extensive menu of teas (including milk teas) and coffees. They also have allergens listed on their menus - it shows if something is dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian. Being gluten- and dairy-free, this made my selections very easy. We were so impressed, we went their three times during a five day visit. In the morning they make baked goods on premise. They had three or four dairy and gluten free options. I particularly liked the banana nut bread and also got their chocolate-chip banana bread. I ordered an egg salad on a gluten free wrap during one of our visits - excellent. Their lattes were outstanding. I highly recommend the Soup Kettle Grille to anyone close enough to try it out.

As you can see by looking at the photos, the tri-tip was cooked to perfection. It had tomatoes, poblano, and chimichurri sauce on it to add to the flavors of the tri-tip. The bread consistency was great, not too soggy, and with a great crispy texture. I wish they had spread the tri-tip out more to make sure every bite was being celebrated. I also ordered the mac and cheese as the side per the instructions of the bartender, James. Let me say that was one of the best mac and cheeses that I have ever had. Truly amazing creamy texture and full of rich flavor. Everything melted in your mouth. Definitely worth it. I eventually ended up talking to a fellow bar sitter, and he ended up being the co-owner of the place, TJ. He also filled me in on the places to go and, most definitely, the places to travel to, to experience great beer. He was refreshing to talk to since most people don't have the passion for beer that we both represent. The redeeming dish was the Mac and cheese. It was amazing!

My tea came out in a pretty cup with a dainty spoon. I have never had saffron tea before so I didn't know what to expect. It tasted earthy. It was rich in golden color. I did add some honey to it and it was a nice addition to it. I can see myself appreciating this tea that much more if it was colder outside. I enjoyed the venue for a bit and grab a to go cup to take the rest with me. It was nice coming in and grabbing my tea. It was also great supporting a locally woman owned business. I will have to definitely come back and try their highly spoken about dumplings and that black sesame latte.

I haven't been in in a while because the location is an awkward one for me and the interior is not particularly a cozy place to sit and enjoy a piece of pe. But Boise Pie Company pies in limited options are now available to order through Farm Deliver (the aggregator for local food hub that takes orders for local farmer and producers and delivers their good things to homes on Wednesday afternoons) so I had a Peach Huckleberry pie in the delivery yesterday afternoon. The crust on this pie was so delicious, in fact much better than my memory of Boise Pie Co. pies being ever. I wonder if the new owner changed the crust recipe? I often leave the crust on a piece of pie, but on this one I ate every crumb. Every holiday I try to find a local producer food item to gift to neighbors. Something that doesn't need to be eaten right away but can be saved and used at any time during holidays or after. I know Boise Pie Co is now providing frozen take and bake Huckleberry pies. If they're still doing that at holiday time, they may be my choice for the neighbors' gifts. (I plan ahead. :-) ) In years past it has been treats like the frozen Lasagna or Chicken pot pie from Certified Kitchen & Bakery's freezer case or Dan Ansotegui's award winning Basque chorizo sausages from Ansot's cold case or stollen from Acme Bakery or assorted artisan chocolates from Chocolat Bar so Boise Pie Co would join great company in the gifting. ;-)

I had the French dip sandwich with a side of tomato basil soup. The sandwich was delicious and tasted homemade in the best way. The "meat" of the sandwich was seitan. I don't THINK it was a perfect meat replica (but I've never had a real French dip), but it was very flavourful. I loved the flavour and the thick cut of their bread, but it didn't have much structure and fell apart easily as I was eating which made the sandwich very messy. The tomato basil soup was a little different. It was slightly creamy but brothy and a little chunky - not a smooth puree. Again, it tasted great and was nice and light, which was a good contrast to the very rich sandwich. It was a little slow, especially considering they weren't that busy. I didn't really mind since I wasn't on a schedule, but this is something to be aware of - don't come here for a quick meal. Not cheap, but worth it for the quality.
