I was skeptical on whether a food truck would make their food REALLY spicy as some Thai places go crazy with their spiciness while others not so much. The chicken had a lot of flavor, I topped it off with sriracha for a little spice, the Yakisoba noodles where very flavorful and not greasy, the veggies were cooked well and had a lot of flavor. It is served with two side sauces, they were both very flavorful as well. We both enjoyed the food, the portions were very large, I took home about half my meal and finished it off at dinner later that night. As I entered the parking lot, I was surprised to see this large parking lot with a few scattered food trucks.  Mila Thai was easy to find as the signage was very visible.  As I walked toward the cart, I saw a dad holding a cute baby girl, so I said hi. The owner, Mod, greeted me at the counter and chatted with me while making my Thai iced tea. During our conversation I learned it's a family operation, the man with the baby was her husband and daughter.  Mila Thai has been in business for about a year, and the food truck is named after their daughter, Mila. She also mentioned they have a website: Milathai.square.site and we could order directly from them to avoid the extra fees.  I'm all in for supporting local business and I will order via their site next time. When I got home, I devoured the food and the iced tea immediately. The Thai iced tea was fragrant and creamy, yum. The Pad See Ew was still piping hot and the noodles were bouncy and al dente. The flavor was on the mild side, as I did ask for mild because I cannot really handle spicy food.  I think it could have used a bit of spice and a little more basil. It's basically a steam/stir fry loaded with a medley of fresh veggies including broccoli, carrots, mushrooms, cabbage and a balanced proportion of white meat chicken. It's a very good sized plate of food and enough for me to take home some leftovers. My husband enjoys their yellow curry with tofu, potato, onion and medium-spicy, creamy sauce. White jasmine rice comes with the dishes, brown is $1 extra. We also like the fresh salad rolls with prawns, lots of crunchy greens, herbs and sides of chili sauce and a yummy peanut sauce. The restaurant can feel a bit crowded and noisy during peak times. The service varies from average to good and the food comes out pretty quickly. One thing that really needs mentioning is that the run-down building exterior and weedy, unkempt landscape have been very poorly maintained to the point that I think this could reflect negatively on an, otherwise, very good restaurant. I could see this being a real turn-off to someone unfamiliar with the positive qualities of the place. Hope they consider putting some time and energy into improving this.

I contacted the restaurant to explain my concern, but unfortunately, they were not willing to resolve the issue. I was told that this is simply the lunch portion size. I understand that lunch portions may be smaller, but the menu only lists the price and does not provide an actual serving size or number of ounces, so as a customer, I had no way of knowing how small the portion would be. For $19 of my hard-earned money, I expected a more reasonable amount of food. What disappointed me even more was the lack of customer service and willingness to make the situation right. Even offering a replacement would have gone a long way toward resolving my concern. Unfortunately, because of this experience and how my complaint was handled, Thai Bloom has lost me as a customer.

My options were the new Hawaiian and Detroit-style pizza carts, neither of which I've had any experience with at this point, the new Filipino cart that was absolutely slammed, the chicken cart that seemed abandoned by its owner, the sushi cart that seemed thematically inappropriate for the occasion, and KIN Thai Twist. The last cart has been here since the pod's inception and has tempted me on more than one occasion, but I didn't want to steer away from my beloved cheesesteak or seem ungrateful to Khantoke across the street. But I hadn't eaten here since having a dish of pad thai in its earliest days and the clock was ticking: Chicken katsu and crab rangoon it would be. That ended up being absolutely perfect for the occasion. Their katsu is delicately crisp and served with coleslaw on milk bread. Just outstanding. The crab rangoon, meanwhile, are perfect squares made by hand in the cart and wrapped around their own cheese filling. All of it just barely made it to Mexico's first (and only) goal of a 1-0 win, but it made me a KIN Thai Twist fan for the rest of my days. I want to go back and try the pork katsu and takoyaki and just enjoy it in the cozy confines of the pub.
