Not very good. Just basic food, nothing that I would write home about. It seemed to me that it was basic Cisco food that you throw in a fryer and slap on a plate. The only plus was the closeness to the hotel we were staying at. read more

Outrageously good food! Amazingly fair prices! And the service is top notch! We always make sure to get to Leif's when we're in Eagle River. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We were all very hungry after a long road trip, so when we saw the sign that said "good food, friendly service," we thought "why not?" It was my husband and me and our parents. Both of our moms had cooked professionally so they know their stuff! Our server couldn't have been sweeter and the food was excellent! The seafood chowder was thick and loaded with seafood, as was the chicken dumpling soup. The fish fry was was perfectly breaded before frying. All of the other meals were great as well, which is tough with a menu that size! The atmosphere was cute, cozy, and Norwoods-y without being over the top. Thanks for a great lunch! read more

Incredible food, and so many choices! The staff is quite friendly. Feels like a cute local place. Everything looks and tastes "homemade" (in a good way). Very comfortable atmosphere. Stopped for Sunday brunch on our way traveling through. Great service, helpful and friendly. Lots of brunch and lunch options. Had the special, corned beef hash skillet. Eggs cooked to perfection, very tasty. And just the right serving size, filling but not too much. Wife had the Farmers Benedict, with tomato and asparagus, also very good, great tasting sauce, eggs were perfect. Fresh coffee, not bitter, nothing fancy but just right. Busy cafe atmosphere, staff clearly enjoyed working there and were very attentive (wIthout being obnoxious). We will be back. read more

Get the hashbrowns. 'nuff said. Seriously, Leif's (pronounced Layf's, not Leaf's - we asked a waitress) is my favorite breakfast spot. Whenever I'm somewhere else and want to go out to breakfast, my friends and I try to find "some place like Leif's." And it's all because of the hashbrowns. Sure, the stuffed French toast is wonderful, they advertise as having the best omelet (and the omelet is quite good), their pancakes are larger than the plate (and fluffy too!), the service is phenomenal (your coffee will never run out), but truly, it's all about the hashbrowns. Sprinkle some of that Curt's seasoning on there, mix 'em up or eat them as they are, browned on top, delicious all the way through. read more

We have been coming here fir breakfast for five years. Always has been a good breakfast. Today was our first time this year and the breakfast was outstanding and the wait staff phenomenal. It appeared the entire wait staff was new. Very nice. read more

What was there to like????....it took over 30 minutes to get sandwiches that didn't even look appetizing since they'd probably been sitting in the kitchen for so long. The 3rd person in our party never did get served and the food the 2 of us got was just because another waitress came out with the plates and asked in the dining room who had ordered it, what the heck?!?!? Ridiculous since it was around 2:30 - 3:00 and they weren't even busy. The waitress we had seemed to be training another person, what a joke neither could get it right, so pathetic! This is the happening breakfast joint of eagle river. There was about a 20 min wait, but it was well worth it. Super friendly staff, fantastic food, and great prices. Bottomless coffee was quite good as well. Highly recommend. read more

Stayed in the area for a Hockey Tournament and would recommend Leif's. The service was good, staff was friendly, portions are large, and the cost was fair. I will definitely come back the next time I am in the area. I would have given them 5 stars but the coffee was not very good. Leif's was one of our got to go there when we are in town, well I new something was different when I picked through my ever famous Chicken dumpling soup, most of the chicken was browned on a grill top, or a chunk of chicken tender with the fried crust on it, the dumplings were to where to be found. Leafs was famous for their soups! I looked at my wife and Said new owners? She said no, it was late, 6:30pm on Saturday, and a minimal crowd. My beef stroganoff was very good, and my wife's Ruben looked very tasty as well. The food gets a 5 star, but what happened to the soup? As we paid our bill, I looked at the business card, and did not recognize the owners name, I asked, new owners? She replied yes. I wanted to ask, I guess the chicken dumpling soup recipe was left out of the business sale? read more

This is a greasy spoon, old school, mom and pop type restaurant that needs to up their standards. Our breakfast order took 40 minutes to arrive. The bacon was under cooked and I ordered two eggs over medium, one egg was hard the other was over medium. Weird. The hash browns tasted of cheap old oil and fake butter spray. The English muffin had bright orange fake butter sprayed on 1/3 of it and the order of biscuits and gravy they forgot to bring out. There was enough staff running around but they seemed unorganized and frazzled. This place was recommended and turned out to be a disappointment. Thankfully we went to another place in town for a breakfast redemption the following day. read more

Stopped in for lunch, was looking for a place in Eagle River, and had to turn around after we drove past - glad we did. Tasty burger, sweet potato fries and a chef salad- hit the spot SO much better than fast food chains! You might drive right past this little place, but if you want excellent home cooked style foods at a good price, stop & check it out. I had a cranberry juice mimosa for $4! I had eggs, hash browns, a much bigger portion of French toast than I expected. It was all delicious. The people of Eagle River, WI are very nice. They can also be real characters. I was told where I could sit by the locals because certain locals would be in soon & they always sit at ____ table, ___ table, etc. but everyone was welcoming & conversation flowed nicely around the room. I will be back. I truly enjoyed the food, the experience, & the cheapest bag of ice in town. Remember looks can be deceiving from the outside when you are in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. We come here every time we are in Eagle River for breakfast/lunch. It is always delicious and the staff is so friendly! Love all their breakfast items but the homemade chicken dumpling soup, chicken sandwich on focaccia and adult Mac and cheese are the Stars of the show. A must-visit local favorite! read more

Went to Leif's today at 11. Surely not a busy time. Placed our order, then waited 25 minutes to get our food. At one point the very unfriendly waitress came by with coffee. She looked at our cups which were 1/2 full and said " you have enough" then provided to walk away. I would have liked a topper to warm my coffee, I guess it was not my choice. Our meals finally came. My husband's Denver omlet was good. My pancake was bland and gummy. Bacon tasted like the cheapest you could buy and overly cooked. Eggs were cooked perfectly. read more

Great Breakfast stop! Menu has a lot of good choices. Stopped at 10am on a Saturday morning. Lots of locals here, always a good sign. Place was busy but we were seated right away. Service was fast and attentive. Food came quickly and was cooked to order. Note: they use good ingredients here, some place serve those warm and serve link sausages, they use fresh Sausage cooked from scratch. Rest rooms were up to date and clean. Full breakfasts for two with juice and coffee came to $21.00. Have to say after reading Patrick's B. review we almost passed on this place but we are glad we stopped. The wait to be seated was 20 minutes. Fine. Seated, greeted in 15 minutes. OK. Ordered quickly. Waited over an HOUR for food. "Your ticket has only been in for twenty minutes, we only have four cooks, we are really busy blah blah blah" by a dismissive waitress. Food at next table (who sat down after us, and AFTER we ordered) came before ours. Straw on camel's back broke. We left. Totally inept. Food supposed to be good, but how could we know?!?!
