My husband is a huge nerd (in the best way) so we knew we had to make our way to the new Legend Comics location in Benson. The shop is super well laid out and not cluttered and hard to shop, like a few other comic/collectible places we have been. As soon as we walked in, the attendants behind the register were so excited to welcome and help us find anything we needed. They came out to answer questions, and helped my husband find key issues he wanted (so we left with a lot of loot LOL) Aside from all the great comics, they also have collectibles, like plushies, Funkos, figurines etc. as well as a little spot for kids to play while their parents shop. They are called Legend Comics and COFFEE, and I was more interested in the coffee than the comics so I stopped in to the cafe while my husband perused everything. I got the Golden Caramel Latte, and it was extra delicious - not too sweet but still a little hint of the caramel to give you that sweet taste. My husband wanted to get a drink that was chocolatey, but without coffee. I asked the barista at the coffee shop if they had anything like that, and he actually made me something special on the spot. It was a frozen chocolate milk, and my husband went wild for it. I don't think it's on the menu, and was made impromptu, but you may be able to ask for that, if you want to try! There is a lot of seating at the cafe and also around the comic shop, including little benches, if you want to sit and pore over your potential purchases or if you're waiting for someone to finish shopping. Even though we spent way too much money here, I definitely recommend it if you're a comic collector/lover, as they have so many things to explore (both in comics and coffee) and you may find something new you love! read more

This place is the neatest (as in neat & clean) and most organized comic book store & coffee shop I've ever been to. So pretty that you almost didnt want to touch anything. Almost... ;) lol. And, I've been to comic book shops, all over the world. The associate on the comic side wasn't really helpful/attentive to the patrons, but thank goodness for the barista, on the café side, because she made up for everything, with her friendliness. :) read more

Legends don't die. The first time I went to legends comics I was super pumped that there would be a comic shop in my general midtown area. Legends has a nice clean sleek look and design. I am glad that they have upgraded and moved to an even better current location and added a coffee shop. They have a nice selection of current and vintage comics. G.I. Joe fans rejoice because this location also sells some but not too many vintage toys as well, mostly G.I. Joe figures and vehicles. I have found some super cool limited prints of Comic Trade Paperbacks here as well including a large numbered Mousegaurd book autographed by the artist himself. Everything In the store seems to have a fluid and flowing route throughout the building. Well Done. read more

Love that this place is local (support local always) Good coffee and other drinks, do you know they named some drinks according to comic characters? Like Tony Starks Mocha, very interesting. Lots of option in teas and Italian sodas (my favorite) Nice staff and friendly, definitely well-trained for customer service. This would be weird, but check out the bathroom, cool design. The only sad thing about the place that they typically close pretty early. If I want to find a place to study during the weekend, this would not be an option. read more

I love this place! Great coffee, free WiFi, open fairly late most nights, and super close to UNO. They have a printer open for patron use, which is an amazing perk for students! The only (nitpicky) thing I would change would be to add some power outlets. For comic book lovers, there's a pretty wide selection of comics from most publishers. read more

What do I love more... comics or coffee? Ultimately who am I kidding, they're no comparable, and luckily you don't have to choose here. The new Legend location is a vast improvement over their old shop, and anything they don't have, they will get for you. Super helpful staff, friendly owners, free browsing of 'used' graphic novels in the coffee shop, tons of events (including trivia)... and I hear you can even pick up your pull list via the drive through. I might be at 4 stars with the coffee, but the main event here is really the comics and graphic novel wall, which easily pulls things up to a solid 5. read more

I bought a cold brew ice coffee and was going to browse around sipping on my drink, but the lady said I had to leave because they were closing (with freshly bought drink in hand). Had to hit a writing deadline this past Friday but was too intimidated by Archetype - the closest I get to coffee is a bottled Starbucks frappucino. I am a Philistine when it comes to the stuff. Hate to admit it. Decided on Legend because I do love me a good Chai tea latte, and Legend did not disappoint. Service was top notch - cashier/server/barista even asked how my morning was going. A very pleasant fellow. Chai tea latte was *perfect*, seating was ample and the big bonus was outlets. My Mac was low on juice and the floor outlet beneath my table did just the trick. Oh, and the cheese Danish I got was really, really good. And fresh! Yummmm. Hit my deadline with time to spare and will definitely go back to write when I'm in the neighborhood. read more

In only a few years, Legend has become Omaha's best shop for comics and graphic novels. Add in a super-convenient midtown location and a coffee shop, and I have a place to hang out for hours on end, either working or reading. When we moved to Omaha, we were very disappointed to find the other stores "out west " had decided that Comic book Guy, from the Simpsons fame, wasn't a caricature, but a business model. Neither my wife or I had collected and read for a number years, like since the Carter administration, and we're basically treated as less than worthy, even when we made significant purchaes. Enter Legends. They have none of the pretentiousness of the other guys. They have a great, friendly staff, great selection of TPB'S and single issues, and will special order anything you request. They will answer your questions, no matter if you want to re-live your childhood, or find something new, they are willing to help. Great location and wonderful staff. A note, the bathrooms are like a plumber from the future traveled back in time to Rome and brought it all to Omaha. I am at pains to think what this gem cost. We're curious about moving to Omaha so we take an exploratory trip out. While here, I decide to pick up my regular books on Wednesday. I happen to stumble upon Legend Comics. So glad I did. Legend seems to be a place where fans, male and female can shop comfortably in a relaxed yet knowledgeable atmosphere. The trade / graphic novel selection is to be commended as is the service. The staff is quick to assist and does so cheerfully unlike many stereotypical comic shops through the land. I was very impressed and will be giving Legend my business should we call the Greater Metro our home. read more

We arrived at 4:45, and I went straight for one of the games they have for use by customers. The individual working the counter saw me taking get the game and set it up, at which time he welcomed me to the shop. My friends and I then ordered our drinks, ready for an enjoyable time, drinking something hot and playing Catan. It was only AFTER we received our beverages that we were told the shop would be closing in 10 minutes. So we packed up and left. The employee clearly saw our intentions, but waited until after I had paid $4 for a 16 oz coffee to inform us of the change to your hours. Had I known we would not have time to enjoy our game, I would have left immediately, saving my money and drinking coffee at home where it would cost me pennies. read more

Popped in on a Saturday morning, after discovering this place on Urbanspoon. The bf was excited as it was part comic book store (his love) part coffee store (my love). It it the best of both worlds for us. The comic book store half wasn't opened (we were there around 0830, so understandable) but we peered in and were Geek'n out at the Dotor Who, Game of Thrones merchandise that happens to preside in the coffee shop portion of the store. It's nicely decorated, and their community board is VERY up to date- which I find a huge plus when you're talking coffee shops. The community board was full of info for art workshops and other things that would interest people wondering into a comic/coffee store. We grabbed a quick hot chocolate as we were just checking out what this place was about- and it was yummy. We'll deffinately be back during comic book store hours to check that out- but it was nice to know that the two store run on different schedules even though they share the same space. Also the coffee shop has a drive thru! Bonus! P.S. If using Google maps to find this place....it's incorrect- this shop is located directly at the T intersection of 52nd street and Leavenworth. (We drove by a few times thinking we had drove past it when we were using google maps). The staff are exceptional - truly, if every place I went to had people as friendly as Legends, the world would be a happy beautiful peaceful place. I guess that sounds a bit cheesy, but I think that Superman is cheesy too, so whatever. I've heard from my bff that this is a great place for Friday Night Magic too, although I haven't been. Legend Comics is, to be blunt, a Legend in the making. Their new location has transformed them from a comic shop of note into a destination location. If you you enjoy comics even tangentially this is the place to go. Their selection of new issues and trade paperbacks is stellar, since moving to the new shop they have been able to increase their back issue selection to titanic proportions. They have also expanded their offerings into the realms of gaming offering a great selection of board games and and a growing collection of other table top games such as Magic: The Gathering and HeroClix. In all of my visits the staff has never been anything less than friendly and courteous. They are widely knowledgeable about comics and have helped me find something new and exciting on several occasions. The atmosphere of the store is lighthearted and they enjoying talking about comics. It has proven a great place to just stop by, though I cant ever seem to leave empty handed. Their gaming room downstairs is bright and spacious which is a big plus. Gaming is so much more enjoyable when you are not stuffed in a corner or a dank smelly side room, and their coffee shop should be opening soon making it an even better place to game as all the snacks and drinks you could want are just up stairs. A welcome relief from the dusty racks of chips and candy bars usually found in a comic shop. All in all this is a great store, with awesome people. I enjoy every visit I make. read more

Very historical location with a great staff. Everyone is always smiling and willing to help a customer. I enjoy stopping in for a cup of hot chocolate during the winter or a special coffee that they concocted. The store is well organized and displayed. I've never had trouble finding the comic that I need. They have a decent collection of Magic: the Gathering and board games. This place is awesome. This was our first visit here. It was very easy to get to & find. They have a great selection of both comics & Trade Paper Backs. They have a coffee shop in it. The staff are very friendly & knowledgeable. They seem to love to talk about comics & offer suggestions on books you might not know about. This was my first time at Legend Comics & Coffee and I'm not too sure I will be coming back. My two sisters were in town and I wanted to show them around Omaha, and especially love supporting local businesses/finding quaint new coffee shops. We stumbled upon Legend. We walked in and after deciding on what to order, the barista rudely greeted us. I told her to take her time getting to us, because it seemed as if she was the only one working. After explaining, very rudely I may add, to us how a certain flavor syrup can't be mixed with an Iced Coffee (which we totally understand, and quickly changed flavors), she gave us attitude on how the store "is closing in 30 minutes, so we tend to start cleaning up now" and "our drinks are going to take a while because I only have one machine working." After these comments, I politely told her to cancel our order because we felt bad and it was obvious she did NOT want to help us after refusing to cancel our order, we payed and waited. It only took about 5 minutes to get our coffee but she aggressively put them down on the counter and yelled that they were ready. I ordered a Hazlenut Latte (which she made iced .....) and it was very good. Sucks that the customer service was so poor, as it makes me not want to return, despite the coffee. Just fair warning for anyone who decides to try this place out -- don't expect much from the baristas!!!!! Very disheartening read more

If stars could talk mine would say "ehh" as a review. It is a coffee shop mixed with comics so if that's your thing than maybe it makes the mediocre coffee worth it. I do love that they have board games available and larger tables for groups to play but I'm definitely not going here for a good cup of joe. read more

I'm a casual comic book reader at best, so I can't speak for their selection, but I adore a good coffee shop and this is a great one. Super friendly staff and ambiance. The barista had a twenty minute conversation with my 4-year-old about the price of their various comic toys and mugs, and how to manage money well :) I then found some awesome hipsters to play chess with. We had bangin espressos and talked about Galileo, heliocentrism, and being excommunicated. It was great! I'm not from Omaha but this place alone might make me revisit. read more

I have been to comic book stores all over the country, and the hype this one gets, even locally, is mind-boggling. Compared to other shops in the area, they have a smaller selection of back issues that are by far the most expensive in Omaha. Any time I have gone, I barely get greeted by employees that are always have side conversations when I'm checking out. Clean and looks nice, but the giant drawers make it a hassle to shop. I don't frequent the coffee side, but if you need comics, this should be your last choice. read more

Overall, I love this place. The atmosphere is modern but comfortable. The service is exceptional, and the coffee is simple and delicious. The way coffee should be. However, given the fact that the menu is quite small and very straightforward, I was disappointed to see that Legend does not use fresh products for their smoothies.
