I love this bookstore. They had a little juice station when I went which was so fun. They have a really great variety of books especially for a local bookstore. I was surprised to see a lot of booktok recs in addition to classics. The booksellers are really helpful and sweet and they have great recs.

My first time in today and oh my gosh, favorite new bookshop! I walked in and heard a delightful parrot just talking away and thought "this is my kind of bookstore!" Seriously, Dickens the parrot was one of the best parts of the shop. Other notable fun parts included drinks while you shop, both NA and alcoholic, a variety of options for both. I know I'd love perusing a good bookshop with a red wine in hand! I'll do that next time I'm in; this time was coffee. There aren't abundant options in store, but she was quick to offer to order it in for me, which I took her up on. I did find a couple books by one of my favorite food authors Ruth Reichl, so that was a huge bonus. There are lots of different book-themed and Omaha-themed set ups, like a CWS section, imbibement (not a word) section, female authors, and more. There's a clearance cart and the books are all arranged by genre and alphabetized, so easy searching. Head in today, say hi to Dickens, and enjoy a drink while you peruse the shelves for your favorite new book!

Wow! If you are a fan of the traditional, independently owned book store with unique book displays, puzzles, games and literature themed novelties The Next Chapter is a must visit destination. I'm a sucker for any store that has an antique typewriter prominently positioned at the entrance, on the store sign, and printed on their gift bags. My husband and I both made purchases--he found a book that peaked his interest and I couldn't resist the spices with names coined from book titles: "A Wrinkle in Thyme, Where the Crawdads Zing, & Dried and Prejudice." The owner checked us out and shared that the store has been open for a year and is enjoying the foot traffic from a nearby hotel, restaurant and coffee shop despite construction in the area. Free parking was convenient. Masks and hand sanitizer were available at the door due to COVID-19 restrictions. The store was clean and tastefully furnished. We will be back.

We were able to find all the keychains and shot glasses we needed. Not only did they have Omaha/NE branded items, but they also got items from nearby Iowa. If you are planning on driving through Iowa but still want to take a piece home for yourself, then this is a good spot to stock up as well. The day we shopped here turned out to be the cashier's first day. We had a good time chit chatting about our travels on Route 66 and how we had been on the road for what felt like decades. With great service and a nice selection, this is certainly the best one-stop shop that I can think of for anything Omaha related.

If you're looking for something to any night of the week (even mondays) Blackstone is where to go. I love that everything is so close together, so that it is easily walkable once you find a parking place (which speaking of that, can be a little hard to come upon a parking spot!) But once you DO find a parking spot or get dropped off, there are so many places to go and eat and drink and hang out. Our favorites are Nite Owl, Crescent Moon, First Round, Scriptown, and Mula. I do think there is a premium on food and drinks, when it comes to Blackstone. Could you get a cheaper drink elsewhere in town? I think so, but you're paying that extra cost, I think, to be in a district with lots of different places to check out instead of staying in one place with one menu. I have a few friends who live in the Blackstone District, and that's also not an inexpensive housing area to look at when house hunting. But they do love the easy access to a lot of businesses. Right now it's HEAVILY under construction and it can be very hard to find a place to park and then walk to your destination. Some places have even CLOSED because of the construction messing up the access to their buildings, unfortunately. Overall, I think Blackstone is a nice little spot with some good businesses. I hope it doesn't go the way of Midtown Crossing where they added a bunch of business and then it kind of went downhill and places ended up closed (aside from the construction woes) and it ends up kind of a ghost town. But for now, Blackstone is a hip little area to check out, definitely!
