Krypton is our favorite comic store in Omaha! It is great for the random comic collector, the serious collection completionist, or just the lackadaisical shopper who's looking for some cool figures or collectibles. It's a classic style comic shop that's not too high falootin' in its design, and feels like it's been around since the beginning of time (in the best way). They have drawers and drawers of back issue comics that are super easily navigable, as well as some key issues that they sell at the front. Some shops my husband and I have been to put them in alphabetical order but not in issue order - not the case at Krypton! It's so easily shoppable . There are vintage comics and toys at the back of the store, if you're looking for those older comic runs or an old favorite action figure from your youth (we found some MASK figures there for my husband). Down the middle of the store are all the current figures, POPs, plushes, etc. I see something new there every time we go. If you're a comic collector or looking for a vintage or current figure or collectible, Krypton is definitely a good place to check out! read more

This, in my opinion, is the best comic shop in Omaha, Nebraska. I was not ready for how great this shop was. A person could spend an entire day looking through all the amazing collectibles that are sold here. History lesson: approximately 30 years ago, a teenager named Dean happened to be standing by Bookguy, owner of Pageturner Books at 50th and Dodge. They were looking through a bin of vintage comic books. Dean just happened to mention that he was thinking of starting a comic book store and what did he, Bookguy, think? Bookguy remembers encouraging him to go for it. Today we have Krypton Comics, the largest comic book store in Omaha thanks to a teenager's dream and encouragement from a bunch of folks like Bookguy. We went there today, me for the first time, and I was impressed! If I had known about the store when I was a school librarian, our graphic novel collection would have been more robust. There's something for all ages in this store--everything from My Little Pony to Pokémon to vintage comics and graphic novels in all genres. The action figures collection was incredible. Besides selling comics, the store also has ongoing gaming events on most days, most of which are totally foreign to me. Another big event is the monthly Saturday Artist Jam. This very inclusive event is for anyone of any age with an interest in drawing. Artists and creators are encouraged to come to the store to draw, create, mingle, socialize, and network in a noncompetitive space. What a great opportunity for creatives, and especially kids. The two guys manning the front seemed very knowledgeable and committed to what they are doing. It's been a while since I've been back and somehow this place expanded even more. There is a ton of cool stuff, comics, of course, and an entire back game room, but also Japanese snacks and toys galore, many of them NIB. There are also quite a few bookshelves full of trades and anime and probably a lot of stuff I'm not getting to, since I'm just updating my prior review, nearly all of which still stands. This is the kind of place you could spend hours in and we nearly did, despite being on somewhat of a time table. Absolutely outstanding. read more

Let me start off with saying I'm not really into comics. Still, we were in the area and decided to go in and see what else they had. Wow, I wasn't expecting all there was to see here. Wall to wall nostalgia. So many figures from still boxed to loose at a discounted price. Everything seemed fairly priced. So many rare things on the wall. The staff was helpful and friendly too. The place was busy and almost everyone I saw had a smile on their face. So if your like me and not into comics, stop in anyway because there is bound to be something that takes your breath away that you'll soon find making its way back to your home. read more

Krypton once again has new digs! And it's even more spacious. If you're at all into comics, board games, card games, role-players, toys, figurines, vintage pop culture, etc., etc.--then Krypton is a must visit. True story: One time my silly insurance agent dropped a check I wrote for like $1k in the parking lot in front of Krypton. Someone at Krypton found it, called me concerned because they found a check I wrote for $1k lying on the ground. They soon got it right back to my silly insurance guy next door. That right there is a 5-star experience from the crew at Krypton. Krypton rules. Might need a new insurance guy, though, ha. read more

I wouldn't recommend shopping here. They have a lot of cool stuff for sure, and it can get addictive to look at all the retro things they have. I used to love to shop here over time, but everything new they got have been increasing in price lately, both comics and action figures. There are action figures they're selling $40 each where they cost $20 each elsewhere. Too much price hike and things get too high to the point it became increasingly more difficult for me to even want to buy anything from here. Even worst is sometimes they don't pay attention to the price they're charging. For example, one comic would charge you $12, but there is another exact comic in this same store that's charging you $20. You're better off buying superhero stuff online or other stores other than Krypton Comics. Go here if you don't plan on buying anything. read more

Friendly staff, Kid friendly, Excellent customer service. Stopped by to get books for my kids (7 & 2) who had a blast looking around the store. When we couldn't quite find what we wanted the staff was great. They took the time to go through the books and helped us find the right selection. After leaving we noticed the book for my 2 year old was defective (binding was lose) so we brought it back. Because that was the only copy we wound up getting another book she liked that actually cost more at no extra charge. Thanks for doing the right thing Krypton! read more

I would give them no stars, if I could. Where to begin. First, they are honestly trying to raise Comic Book Guy from the Simpsons from caricature to business model. If they were paid for pretentiousness, they'd be wealthy. Went three times, bought items three times, was treated like a plebiscite, three times. All questions are beneath them. If you must ask, you are not worthy of shopping with them. Their idea of cleanliness is based on, I would guess, the 1919 Farmers Almanac. Personal hygine and grooming is based on some strange hipster/lives in mom's basement hybrid, which originates with not bathing, and ends with pachouli. I would say avoid this place but there is an American Horror Story/Freakshow vibe that is mildly entertaining. Plus the douchiness, when viewed from a far, holds a humor all its own. Just leave your wallet, and your dignity, at home. read more

This would be a 5 star review, but there is one particular guy who works there who needs a serious lesson in customer service. I have interacted with him twice and both times he managed to rub me the wrong way. Even when you are not interacting with him he gives off a bad vibe. In all the times I've been in there I've never seen the dude smile whatsoever and when you do talk to him he gives off the impression he'd be happier sitting through an insurance seminar. Both times I've interacted with him he's only been as helpful as absolutely nessisary. I really should have caught his name, because he sucks the energy right out of the room. But he tends to wear a yellow shirt, has glasses, and very little hair. I honestly prefer to go other places in town because the dude rubs me the wrong way so much. We came here on Saturday, March 16 my wife and son and I and we were amazed at how much inventory and how many different toys and games and figures that the store had. This store had an amazing selection more than I have ever seen in any store ever of just about every action figure toy game magic card accessory game book etc. We were very lucky as they had a tax sale that weekend and we received 20% off our order the place had plenty of people working there and although it was very very busy they managed to take care of all the customers and show us a very high-level service. The gentleman in charge of the meds except section was exceptionally knowledgeable about magic the gathering him and answered all of my sons questions. Because of the such of a good sale going on we managed to spend $400 on magic cards for my son. We appreciate that store and the professionalism and of the sales people and is a great place to go to find a gift I would say It would be impossible to go there and not find a gift for someone as they have everything that any one would want that has any interest in comics or games etc. read more

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Krypton Comics, they are my go to place for walking dead, Star Trek, DC and manga needs. They have a variety of things including antique items and first edition comics. I also enjoy they also have DVD's and little nick knacks too. The staff is super friendly and its a great place to bring the kids, i bring my niece allot so she can get her my little pony comics and toys. over all id come on down and visit , there's something here for everyone. read more

Went here for the first time today and I've been to other comic book stores and this one is the best one I've been to by far. The staff is very friendly and knows what they are talking about. They have a huge collection of comic books, action figures and collectibles. I bought a model of a storm trooper today and I asked if it was made out of a cheap plastic. The gentleman that helped me ensured that if the quality does not meet my standards I can return it. It was made out of a hard plastic that is very sturdy and looks great. I went here to watch my boyfriend play in a sealed magic tournament. I liked the selection of pops, comics, and t-shirts. Everyone here seemed pretty shy though. I tried asking some people a couple of questions about magic and no one seemed too friendly. Maybe a little bit more of a competitive atmosphere? But, that's cool, to each their own. :) read more

Well, the selection is awesome...that is the only thing that gets the three stars. The staff will talk down to you if you aren't up on the current storylines and lord forbid if you are female...they treated the wife like an outcast when she was looking for a comic for my birthday (its ok...she got the $100 comic at a different store). I first went to this store when I was starting to get back into comics and I was very impressed. From comics to magic the gathering there is something there for everyone's inner nerd. They have the best selection of comics on new comic book day and they're back stock is excellent. I'm not really into gaming but if that's you're thing there is plenty of room for you. If you're a fan of comics and somehow haven't been to this store, you're definitely missing out. It's quite large with a pretty great selection of both comics as well as various collectibles. It's tidy as well and very well-organized so you can easily find just about anything. Plus, in the couple of times I've visited the store, the majority of staff have been so friendly and helpful save for one particularly rude, unkempt employee who rang up my purchases on my last visit this morning. While two other employees had been kind enough to greet me and make sure I was finding everything I needed, this partiular one let out a disgusted sigh when he saw me at the counter, dropped the merchandise he appeared to be sorting, and loudly said, "Goddam****" as he stormed up to the cash register. It was rude enough that I contemplated just walking out without the comics I wanted, but I've enjoyed the store save for this one employee's bad behavior and want to come back again. So if you get a surly employee in a Corona tshirt who seems irrationally disgruntled that you actually want to help him turn a profit, I recommend ignoring him because of the rest of the store as well as its staff are truly just that wonderful. read more
