Krypton is our favorite comic store in Omaha! It is great for the random comic collector, the serious collection completionist, or just the lackadaisical shopper who's looking for some cool figures or collectibles. It's a classic style comic shop that's not too high falootin' in its design, and feels like it's been around since the beginning of time (in the best way). They have drawers and drawers of back issue comics that are super easily navigable, as well as some key issues that they sell at the front. Some shops my husband and I have been to put them in alphabetical order but not in issue order - not the case at Krypton! It's so easily shoppable . There are vintage comics and toys at the back of the store, if you're looking for those older comic runs or an old favorite action figure from your youth (we found some MASK figures there for my husband). Down the middle of the store are all the current figures, POPs, plushes, etc. I see something new there every time we go. If you're a comic collector or looking for a vintage or current figure or collectible, Krypton is definitely a good place to check out!

This, in my opinion, is the best comic shop in Omaha, Nebraska. I was not ready for how great this shop was. A person could spend an entire day looking through all the amazing collectibles that are sold here. Vintage comics, modern comics, graphic novels, vintage toys, action figures, trading cards, trading card games, Funko Pops, and retro video games are available here. If I forgot to list something, please forgive me. Pros: + Plenty of merchandise to look through + Friendly and helpful staff + Spacious store + Great pricing + Well-organized + Family- and new customer-friendly

History lesson: approximately 30 years ago, a teenager named Dean happened to be standing by Bookguy, owner of Pageturner Books at 50th and Dodge. They were looking through a bin of vintage comic books. Dean just happened to mention that he was thinking of starting a comic book store and what did he, Bookguy, think? Bookguy remembers encouraging him to go for it. Today we have Krypton Comics, the largest comic book store in Omaha thanks to a teenager's dream and encouragement from a bunch of folks like Bookguy. We went there today, me for the first time, and I was impressed! If I had known about the store when I was a school librarian, our graphic novel collection would have been more robust. There's something for all ages in this store--everything from My Little Pony to Pokémon to vintage comics and graphic novels in all genres. The action figures collection was incredible. Besides selling comics, the store also has ongoing gaming events on most days, most of which are totally foreign to me. Another big event is the monthly Saturday Artist Jam. This very inclusive event is for anyone of any age with an interest in drawing. Artists and creators are encouraged to come to the store to draw, create, mingle, socialize, and network in a noncompetitive space. What a great opportunity for creatives, and especially kids. The two guys manning the front seemed very knowledgeable and committed to what they are doing. I'm not into comic books, action figures, gaming, or graphic novels, but for those who are, this is a place you want to visit.

Let me start off with saying I'm not really into comics. Still, we were in the area and decided to go in and see what else they had. Wow, I wasn't expecting all there was to see here. Wall to wall nostalgia. So many figures from still boxed to loose at a discounted price. Everything seemed fairly priced. So many rare things on the wall. The staff was helpful and friendly too. The place was busy and almost everyone I saw had a smile on their face. So if your like me and not into comics, stop in anyway because there is bound to be something that takes your breath away that you'll soon find making its way back to your home.

He was going on and on about how Pokémon was for the kids however was gloating about how much money he spends a week on comics, magic, POKÉMON CARDS, etc.. Me who was only there to help support a friend on trying to find a specific issue of a comic was trying to be friendly and make small talk with the employee and explain to them that I was considering on grabbing One Piece cards since I am over 1000 episodes into the show. Immediately I was asked "are you going to play the game or are you only collecting them for pretty cards?" Then proceeding to be told that they advised me to not buy any since I wanted to collect them and didn't care to play the game. These type of people are ruining the collector community and driving people (like me) who aren't interested in scalping and actually want to get into a new hobby away from it. I will say there was another gentleman who actually went out of his way to help my buddy look for the comic book he was looking for and was extremely helpful! However I will never be stepping foot into this business ever again since it seems like they don't want my business and they were terrible to deal with.

The shop is super well laid out and not cluttered and hard to shop, like a few other comic/collectible places we have been. As soon as we walked in, the attendants behind the register were so excited to welcome and help us find anything we needed. They came out to answer questions, and helped my husband find key issues he wanted (so we left with a lot of loot LOL) Aside from all the great comics, they also have collectibles, like plushies, Funkos, figurines etc. as well as a little spot for kids to play while their parents shop. They are called Legend Comics and COFFEE, and I was more interested in the coffee than the comics so I stopped in to the cafe while my husband perused everything. I got the Golden Caramel Latte, and it was extra delicious - not too sweet but still a little hint of the caramel to give you that sweet taste. My husband wanted to get a drink that was chocolatey, but without coffee. I asked the barista at the coffee shop if they had anything like that, and he actually made me something special on the spot. It was a frozen chocolate milk, and my husband went wild for it. I don't think it's on the menu, and was made impromptu, but you may be able to ask for that, if you want to try! There is a lot of seating at the cafe and also around the comic shop, including little benches, if you want to sit and pore over your potential purchases or if you're waiting for someone to finish shopping. Even though we spent way too much money here, I definitely recommend it if you're a comic collector/lover, as they have so many things to explore (both in comics and coffee) and you may find something new you love!

This is a bit more for the tabletop gamer, as that's a lot of what they have now, but they did have a good selection of comics, just put away more than the games that take a lot of the display area. The comics were there but were more in drawers, and they had cute comic characters of each alphabetical letter drawer (like Wolverine on the W drawer). Very clever idea! Another cool thing is that a lot of the decor they have around the store is dragon-themed, sticking with their name of the Dragon's Lair. They also didn't have as many figurines and pops as a few other comic shops we've been to (though they do have a handful). They more have the gaming dice, Warhammer figurines, and games like Settler's of Catan etc. The staff was more helpful at this location vs. the one out on 144th and Center, where they kind of act annoyed when you want to actually buy something and they have to ring you up LOL So If you're looking for a new game or interested in collecting Warhammer figurines, this would be great for you. If you're on the hunt for a certain comic book, they may have that too, but it's not the main focus anymore like I remember it being when I was a kid.
