The night before her appointment my daughter told me her nose was starting to run and she thought she had allergies. The day of her appointment, it progressed very quickly to a full blown cold and her nose was really runny. She was concerned about being in a headrest and also about getting the massage therapist sick. I called to see if we could reschedule and was told it was not possible but my daughter could still come in and wear a mask on the table! I explained how terribly uncomfortable that would be and was told there are no ability to reschedule. My daughter was very much looking forward to the massage and since I live out of the area it was an important gift to help her release some of her tension. I asked to speak to the owner and gave my details and was told the owner would call me back. I never heard back and called again on May 13th, 7 days later, and asked again to speak to the owner to try to find a fair resolution for the situation. I was told the owner would call me back but have not heard back from her today. The impression that I get is that they do not care about my business. And if they don't care about my business, they don't care about your business. You may want to rethink using their services if you think you may ever be sick or have an emergency and have to miss your appointment. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of care of the owner of Jaiyen Spa. If I could give no stars, I would.

She's one of my favorite massage therapists, specializing in Traditional Thai Massage, Shiatsu, and some undefinable, yet healing quality that Emily brings to her practice. Few things in life are better than getting bodywork from Emily on a sunny day. I generally check out and take a few minutes to look around & figure out which planet I'm on. It's a great way to end a visit to the Berkeley Farmer's Market. The massage tent is at the Berkeley Farmer's Market on Center Street near Milvia Street from 10 am to 3 pm. On cloudier days, The therapists in the massage tent have blankets to warm their clients. There are other therapists that work there, but Emily's one of the best. Note that Emily's quite busy, but if she's not available and you're lucky, Catherine Rinaldo might be working with her. Catherine has her own style, and she's every bit as wonderful as Emily. Both charge me $45 for 40 minutes, although you can choose different times. I'm stuck at 40 minutes. I suggest you don't wait until the last minute, 'cuz these two are busy. Do tip them, since they're worth it & it's a challenge to create such peaceful, healing environment in the bustling market

She was present with me and my body the entire time I was with her which is amazing since many sessions were for 90 minutes.
