I purchased a massage for a 21st birthday present for my daughter. Both her and I had massages before and enjoyed them and I had referred numerous people to Jaiyen Spa. The night before her appointment my daughter told me her nose was starting to run and she thought she had allergies. The day of her appointment, it progressed very quickly to a full blown cold and her nose was really runny. She was concerned about being in a headrest and also about getting the massage therapist sick. I called to see if we could reschedule and was told it was not possible but my daughter could still come in and wear a mask on the table! I explained how terribly uncomfortable that would be and was told there are no ability to reschedule. My daughter was very much looking forward to the massage and since I live out of the area it was an important gift to help her release some of her tension. I asked to speak to the owner and gave my details and was told the owner would call me back. I never heard back and called again on May 13th, 7 days later, and asked again to speak to the owner to try to find a fair resolution for the situation. I was told the owner would call me back but have not heard back from her today. The impression that I get is that they do not care about my business. And if they don't care about my business, they don't care about your business. You may want to rethink using their services if you think you may ever be sick or have an emergency and have to miss your appointment. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of care of the owner of Jaiyen Spa. If I could give no stars, I would. read more

The receptionist was really nice, very professional and helped me decide which type of service I needed. The massage therapist was really good (gan "sp?") i shared my trouble spots and didn't have to say another word the whole hour, she knew exactly where the work needed to be and boy oh boy did she get the job done. her soft but strong af hands were magical!! I walked in tense and knotted up, but walked out relaxed and loose. The vibe was instantly calming and comfortable and the tables are nice and clean. No residual smell from all the other people who came before me lol. My favorite part was the face and scalp massage, something about it just made me feel like a whole new person. I have had several enjoyable massages with Jaiyen. I've tried the Thai floor, Swedish and Jaiyen (which is a blend of the two). When I was very muscular the thai floor massage was awesome (and you keep your clothes on!). Swedish was ok but not for people who are more muscular. I'm less muscular now and the Jaiyen is the perfect balance. Always on time, always get my full time, clean, pretty quiet. read more

As per usual, I didn't choose the therapist; she chose me as a matter of speaking. Sunny was the perfect therapist for me: deep without being intrusive, sensitive enough that I felt comfortable crying. She was spritely and wonderful, and at the end, I asked her to do a pin and stretch on my pecs. She knew exactly what I meant. That was quite simply the best. Jaiyen is a hidden lovely facility. I lived in Thailand for a number of years and this was as good as any deep tissue and non-tourist Thai message in Thailand or anywhere, actually. Dan, the masseuse who worked on me was trained in Thailand and was possibly the strongest small woman I've ever met. She's wonderful. Booked a full body massage/facial plus a couple of add ons for a complete package. I woke up the day of my appointment and had broke out in hives (due to an allergic reaction). I went to the office at 9 am when they opened (even though my appointment wasn't till 4pm) to explain my situation and was told they don't do refunds. I asked if it was possible to move my appointment due to my medical situation. They said they can't without permission from the owner. I was told the owner would contact me and they never did. I tried calling but never received a returned phone call. So I spent over $200 and they would not budge even though I had a medical emergency. They never rebooked, refunded or even called. I guess I'm just out the money. Honestly if I could give that experience no stars I would it was truly terrible customer service. Probably the worst I have ever experienced. read more

I just went to the spa for the first time I didn't even know it was here but I had a free 15 minute massage by Greg that was just wonderful but I understand that all the therapists are actually very good here. I did not know that we even had this Spa it's always fun when I learn new things about a town that I've lived in for 32 years pretty crazy. I requested a deep tissue massage. Viva my masseur was really good - she was communicative and explained my different challenges and needs as she massaged. She did such a great job and of course I would need some more follow-up massages because of the tension in my muscles. The atmosphere in Jaiyan is so serene and just love the place and seduces provided. I would highly recommend Jaiyan; it was well worth the trip from Santa Rosa; Wish Jaiyan was based in Santa Rosa too. Jaiyen Spa - The after effects! - Day Spas Near Me - Sebastopol, California

I got 2 bruises and some areas that hurt to touch the next day (for what was supposed to be a Swedish massage). For the most part, pressure was fine, and actually felt really good in some areas, but this was the least enjoyable massage I've ever gotten. The worst part was when a hot towel was being used to turn my head onto one side. It was done in one brisk motion and happened so fast that I was left in shock and fear for the safety of my neck. Another thing, a hot towel was used to wipe oil off my face but it felt rough and abrasive. I was also put off when my masseuse raised the blanket covering me to reposition the blanket, exposing my chest briefly. Didn't want to spoil my time there since I came here to get a couple's massage for my boyfriend's birthday, but now I wish I had spoken up at the time. Massage room was cold but the tables are heated. Not sure how I feel about that. I liked the scent of the oil they used, and the tea they served was good. Shop interior is cute, atmosphere is relaxing. My bf didn't have any complaints about his massage. I also heard his masseuse check in on him a few times, whereas mine didn't ask me anything after the initial pressure confirmation. Update: One of the bruises, on the side of my foot, is way bigger now @ 3 days later. Luckily it's not where I put my weight, but still hurts when walking. :(((( read more

Hi again! I wanted to post an update~ I just had my 2nd massage with Ian, and again it was SO GOOD! I walked in with so much pain and tension, and walk out feeling 10 pounds lighter. Ian was responsive to my requests and did an excellent job of finding the perfect pressure (I like deep & slow massage, with a focus on trigger points) and focusing on the areas of the body where I had pain and tension. Ian is highly intuitive with his touch and I felt like he was really listening to my body. I've had a lot of excellent massage in my life (I worked for a Chiropractor for 13 year and got free weekly massage & adjustments) and I've struggled since moving to Sebastopol to find someone who could compare~ Well, Ian is simply the best! Their colorful tea is fun and I just feel so grateful that I was recommended this place... I would recommend getting there a little early and settling in with some water, then after, taking some time to relax with some delicious tea. Sophie is the best. After being a bit jaded to try this spa (I'm not sure why, maybe because I have an amazing neuromuscular therapist and have had so many good, bad and phenomenal massages?)
