    Pork Chops

Pork chops were okay. They were over fried. No as well seasoned as I would've thought since it's a Jamaican restaurant. Nice portion sizes. One side comes with two pork chops which wasn't mentioned on the uber eats app so I ordered two and got four pork chops.

Amazing food, they have a food truck that we ate at in down town. I got the spicy jerk chicken with plantains and Mac. The ambiance of the truck was southern Jamaican and local. The service was very friendly and incredibly fast.

9/12/21: It's our first time here. We were trying a few different items. I was personally craving candied yams & there was no other place around. The restaurant is very small. Only about 3 people can go in at a time. More could get in if there wasn't someone selling unrelated items to everyone that walked in the door. The service was ok. The food was another story. The pork chop was a nice size, but it tasted sour like it was going bad before they fried it. The yams weren't as sweet as I like, but my family loved them along with the Mac'n'cheese. The pound cake was dense & bland. We paid a lot to not be satisfied. I don't plan to go back, but my family probably will.

Turkey Wings (smothered) with white rice and Mac n cheese

Since they're only letting 4 people in the restaurant at a time during corona it seems like every time I drove by this place there was a line. But since Lee's Kitchen is so known and popular in Raleigh and I've never had it, I had to give it a try anyways. Let me start off by saying ubereats and the Lee's Kitchen app both miss a lot of menu items (turkey wings, beef patties, etc.) so if what you want is on there you're lucky but we weren't able to order ahead because of this. The food is really delicious, decent prices, big portions, and hot food. We got turkey wings, white rice, rice and peas, veggies, oxtails, and Mac n cheese. We enjoyed all of it and finished our plates! The veggies is pretty much just cabbage and the Mac is super good. You can get the turkey wings baked, grilled, fried, smothered, etc. but they said the two most popular were smothered and fried so we did smothered. The only complaint we had was that the turkey wing plate didn't have a lot of rice (we thought there'd be more under the wings but it was just that corner.) I'd definitely come back here and get the same thing or try the curry goat. They also have a large variety of different fruit juices and drinks! I definitely see why everyone likes this place.

This place has some really authentic and good Jamaican food with just the right amount of Soul Food in it. One of the best Jamaica food spots I have had, tasted like it came straight from Jamaica.

Oh man.. if you've been in the Raleigh area for a while - good chances are you've heard about Lee's Kitchen. I've known of this spot for years, but finally tried it for the first time today - my only regret is not coming sooner! I got the curry chicken with rice and beans and Mac n cheese. Perfectly seasoned, great portions for the price ($8.95 lunch tray) ... I thoroughly enjoyed this meal. Boyfriend got the brown stew - something he said is also really good! No indoor seating available, take out only.

This place is expensive for the portion size. Mix between soul food and jamican seasoning (I'm guessing that's why it's so dark, I have no idea) But I can't lie the food is good. The service is a 1! Employees aren't professional or friendly nor do they make your order when you call ahead IF they don't have it off the hook. I've had other jamican restaurants in the city & theirs still tastes the best, unfortunately. So I suck it up when I need my fix lol hopefully it gets better.

One star is being generous. We ordered oxtails and received beef stew chunks of beef that were tough and extremely salty. More disgraceful than the food was the service and the price! They will never get another dime of my money. The place once had good food at a decent price but it definitely changed. Don't waste your time or money.

    Oxtail*
    Laticia J.

The oxtail's aren't worth $20.00, they are thin and mostly fat. They only give you 5 which included the small broken off piece and one big piece of fat. Just poor quality meat, period. The flavor was ok, but I've had better. It came with a rice of choice and mixed vegetables. All the sides were bland... bland, bland. Especially the mixed vegetables. I added a size of Mac and cheese, I shouldn't have because i could have done without it. The only thing I really enjoyed was the cornbread and the fact I didn't have to wait in the long line they usually have. Overall, it was they overpriced total of $28.00 and underdelivered... maybe someone else would like it, but not my tastebuds. I'll stick to Golden Crust for now

On Wednesday's they were doing all gluten-free menu and it was amazing...no crazy unreasonable upcharges, just honest menu pricing and great food. As of this review they are the #2 most reviewed place in Raleigh only behind the Pit. When we went last week for a farewell dinner it took us 3 weeks to get in. We got turned away 2 other times. The place was always packed and busy yet cozy and calm with great service. Hopefully they relocate or put some of the items from the menu at Pooles. Fuquay could use a nice place like this and it would be way cheaper than Raleigh! Best of luck to the staff in the future as they all look for work.

I understand as if you aren't seated when they open, you can expect a 90-minute to two-hour wait. I was hoping to get the Chicken Pot Pie this time and thought my prior visit was just off. I was thrilled that most of the menu was available. They were just out of the banana pudding. So I got to try the pecan wings I read about with the white sauce. It was so good. Then I got the chicken pot pie and biscuits. The pot pie had old biscuits for the topping, but the creamy mixture with large chunks of chicken was delicious. My biscuits came with honey and were served warm. I left with a slice of the chocolate-caramel-coconut cake, a side salad without onions, and a fried boneless thigh. The salad was made correctly, and the dressing was included. The salad was full of veggies, and the cake was rich and moist. Service was friendly and as soon as I finished my iced tea, another appeared. My wings were brought out first and it was a while for the rest of the meal as the restaurant was full. But they didn't rush me at all. I actually liked the space between the dishes, as I might not have been able to eat it all otherwise. I couldn't finish both biscuits and was even provided a container for the honey. I am going to miss Beasley's, but I'm glad I got a positive experience to remember the restaurant.

My first time trying deviled eggs I can say they were actually pleasant. The soul roll had this good taste with a subtle head to it just to spice it up. Overall really enjoyable apps. With so many options to choose from we all ended up getting the Double combo. I had Brisket and bbq chicken with Mac n cheese, brussel sprouts and. Sweet potatoe casserole. The chicken was the only piece lacking in comparison to the others. The brisket was very solid, very good enough to order again. The sides however were amazing. The Mac and cheese had such a good taste to it, the brussel sprouts had a blend with bacon bits and something glazed on them that was perfect and the sweet potatoes was another great side addition to the rest. It's been an interesting journey--because while I absolutely respect the tradition, my palate has definitely evolved over the years toward lighter, more elevated, visually beautiful food. That said, sometimes you just have to lean in and experience the classics. Tupelo Honey had been on my list for a while, so during a recent work trip to Raleigh-Durham, I decided to check it off. The location is in a very nice, upscale area--one of those shopping districts where, if you see a Whole Foods nearby, you know the neighborhood is going to be polished, safe, and easy to navigate. Parking was simple in a lot across the street, and since I had a reservation, I was seated quickly on the patio, which was lovely and comfortable. For starters, I ordered the "biscuits for a cause," which is a nice touch knowing the proceeds support employee relief and development funds. They were warm and classic Southern biscuits--exactly what you'd expect. For my entrée, I went with the honey-dusted fried chicken (dark meat), a true Southern staple. It was well prepared, flavorful, and satisfying, especially if you're in the mood for something hearty and traditional. I also tried a cocktail called "The Debutante," which was pleasant and refreshing, and finished the meal with the butter pecan cheesecake for dessert. Overall, the meal was good--solid, reliable Southern comfort food--but if I'm being completely honest, it wasn't particularly memorable for me. I was traveling for work and dining on a per diem, so it checked the box for a dependable dinner in a convenient location. As a larger regional chain, it feels a bit like a rite of passage when you're spending time in the Southeast--something you try once to understand the landscape. Bottom line: Tupelo Honey delivers classic Southern comfort food in a polished, accessible setting. Service was smooth, the patio was pleasant, and everything was executed well. For me personally, it was a good experience--but not one I'd necessarily go out of my way to repeat. Still, as I continue eating my way through the Carolinas and beyond, I'm glad I gave it a try.
