It was nice at first to have a Jamaican restaurant open so close to me. When you first opened, the food was always tasty. However, lately it seems like something has changed--maybe a different chef? The oxtails now taste like they're cooked with way too much sugar. The rice and peas also taste overly sweet, almost like pure sugar. The red peas soup has been very disappointing, and the cabbage is always overcooked and mushy. I'm not sure what's changed, but I really hope you can go back to the quality and flavors you had when you first opened. On a Thursday around 5pm, the sides had already hardened into solid blocks--nowhere near the freshness I was looking for. I was charged extra for the mac and cheese, which turned out to be a stiff chunk of cheese over baked noodles. The plantains were the hardest I've ever had. The bright spot: the cabbage was seasoned well, and the chicken with jerk sauce was genuinely enjoyable. The jerk sauce had a nice hint of BBQ flavor that worked well. I pulled the door and realized it was locked. Even so, when I looked through the glass, a worker--a slim, slightly tall girl--put her hand across her neck and slid it. What can I say about Golden Crust? Located at the back of Brier Creek near the Taget you'll find a small Jamaican food jem. The staff is super friendly the food is plentiful, the portion are generous and the beef patties are on point. There is a small amount of seating in the lobby and it seemes to be more of a place you would take out than dine in. However I am happy to take all of their food home anytime. The curry goat and chicken are excellent and the goat is not bony at all. The fish escovitch, roti, goat's head soup, and red pea soup are all worth ordering. Golden Krust is a pretty solid place for Jamaican food. I've been a few times and the food is consistent and plentiful. I've had the beef patties, which are always nice and hot, curried chicken, brown stew chicken, jerk wings and a taste of the curried goat and oxtails. All were good and flavorful. The portion sizes are enough for 2 meals. All dishes come with your choice of rice and cabbage and plantains. Again - flavorful and filling. Service is friendly and accommodating. This place doesn't beat other local spots like "Where's the Jerk" but it was significantly faster. Other similar spots around here take around 1.5 to 2 hours to get your food and this spot took about 10 minutes, so I consider this a major win! We got some beef patties, a chicken patty, the fruit punch and a small braised oxtail platter. While I've seen other reviews say that the oxtail is a bit expensive, I personally felt that they gave a lot (even in the small portion) and the oxtail was perfectly cooked. The seating is limited but the takeout portions are the same as the dine-in portions so it's the perfect place to get takeout from. The punch is a must try; I drank it all in less than a minute. The beef patty was great and we both liked it more than the chicken one. Overall, love this addition to the Brier Creek area and can't wait to go back and try their jerk chicken! read more

Went here on a Sunday afternoon to check out the new location. We went right at opening and it filled up pretty quickly. There's little inside seating and the restaurant is smaller, but the food packs a punch. We got the jerk wings with rice, plantain, cabbage and mac and cheese. The jerk wings were delicious but incredibly spicy, I could barely handle it but I'm not a huge spice person. We only got one single plantain lol and the cabbage was okay and could have used more seasoning and flavor. The oxtail gravy was delicious over the fluffy rice and the beef patty was delicious as well. The mac and cheese was only being served from the back for some reason which I found odd that it wasn't out with the rest of the food.
