On a Thursday around 5pm, the sides had already hardened into solid blocks--nowhere near the freshness I was looking for. I was charged extra for the mac and cheese, which turned out to be a stiff chunk of cheese over baked noodles. The plantains were the hardest I've ever had. The bright spot: the cabbage was seasoned well, and the chicken with jerk sauce was genuinely enjoyable. The jerk sauce had a nice hint of BBQ flavor that worked well. But for two plates, two drinks, and a spinach patty totaling $50, I expected much better. I won't be returning. read more

I think the only time I've had Caribbean food before is on a cruise. I got my order delivered and had the Spicy Beef Patty and Chicken Patty. I thought both patties were crispy. The Spicy Beef had a good level of spice and I enjoyed the flavor of the Chicken Patty. read more

This is my second experience at this location. I have also been to the other location one time. I always get the same thing which is the red snapper I wish I could get it by itself without having any additional sides. The sides are not impressive. I would give the rice and peas a 5/10 and the cabbage 6/10. Also, this time the customer service was very much lacking and rude. The people behind the counter did not greet me or others when we came through the door and when you go to pay, they were very rude. I most likely will not be back. read more

I was pleasantly surprised to see a Golden Krust on this side of town since there aren't too many options for Jamaican food in this area. It's not a fancy place with several small tables & it's cafeteria style. The servers behind the counter were very efficient despite being pretty busy. Fair warning - the portions are HUGE! Everything we had was delicious. The curried goat and the oxtails were well stewed and tender. I opted for the callaloo and salt cod instead of the sautéed cabbage in my combo plate. What can I say about Golden Crust? Located at the back of Brier Creek near the Taget you'll find a small Jamaican food jem. The staff is super friendly the food is plentiful, the portion are generous and the beef patties are on point. There is a small amount of seating in the lobby and it seemes to be more of a place you would take out than dine in. However I am happy to take all of their food home anytime. Thank you for opening at Brier Creek. The location is essentially similar to the Plantation Point location but there's a little more seating here. The curry goat and chicken are excellent and the goat is not bony at all. The fish escovitch, roti, goat's head soup, and red pea soup are all worth ordering. Perhaps order the roti and escovitch ahead of time as they are made to order and can take some time. And the patties. Make sure to get a few of those, too. Golden Krust is a pretty solid place for Jamaican food. I've been a few times and the food is consistent and plentiful. I've had the beef patties, which are always nice and hot, curried chicken, brown stew chicken, jerk wings and a taste of the curried goat and oxtails. All were good and flavorful. The portion sizes are enough for 2 meals. All dishes come with your choice of rice and cabbage and plantains. Again - flavorful and filling. Service is friendly and accommodating. This place doesn't beat other local spots like "Where's the Jerk" but it was significantly faster. Other similar spots around here take around 1.5 to 2 hours to get your food and this spot took about 10 minutes, so I consider this a major win! We got some beef patties, a chicken patty, the fruit punch and a small braised oxtail platter. While I've seen other reviews say that the oxtail is a bit expensive, I personally felt that they gave a lot (even in the small portion) and the oxtail was perfectly cooked. The seating is limited but the takeout portions are the same as the dine-in portions so it's the perfect place to get takeout from. The punch is a must try; I drank it all in less than a minute. The beef patty was great and we both liked it more than the chicken one. Overall, love this addition to the Brier Creek area and can't wait to go back and try their jerk chicken! read more

I ordered the brown stew chicken, spinach rice, plantains, cabbage, sorrell drink and a carrot cake. All was a waste! The chicken was not flavorful AT ALL! Didn't even taste like brown stew chicken. Tasted more like a cheap watered down barbecue sauce. The 3 plantains were dry. The cabbage was not flavored and the rice also had no flavor. It was like I was eating but had no taste buds. The sorrell drink was undrinkable! Way too much ginger! The carrot cake was also not good. Tasted more like a store-bought cake, which it probably was. Went here on a Sunday afternoon to check out the new location. We went right at opening and it filled up pretty quickly. There's little inside seating and the restaurant is smaller, but the food packs a punch. We got the jerk wings with rice, plantain, cabbage and mac and cheese. The jerk wings were delicious but incredibly spicy, I could barely handle it but I'm not a huge spice person. We only got one single plantain lol and the cabbage was okay and could have used more seasoning and flavor. The oxtail gravy was delicious over the fluffy rice and the beef patty was delicious as well. The mac and cheese was only being served from the back for some reason which I found odd that it wasn't out with the rest of the food.
